We went here for drinks and dinner in the bar. It was a lovely environment. We wanted to look around the spa to decide about a future spa day. The staff were super accommodating and helpful, the facilities looking good. Shout out to Jack who was really conscientious behind the bar, making drinks for big orders and especially making cocktails to a high spec.

Myself and my Boyfriend stayed at the hotel for the weekend. The food that we had on the evening of our stay was absolutely amazing!! We came for the spa and relaxation experience which we received but we were overwhelmed by how good the food was. Even the bread and butter we had was great! I had the scollops to start while my partner had the pigeon both of which we loved. I then had the ox cheek while he had the pork chop, my main course was my favourite part of the meal, the meat was cooked amazingly and everything complimented it so well. For dessert we had the orange chocolate fondant and the banana parfait which were a great way to end our meal. The gentleman who was serving us was so lovely (I’m really annoyed I didn’t get his name) He was telling us about how he was moving up higher to management? Whoever he was he was very hospitable. We had a bottle of red with our meal and finished it off with a couple of amazing cocktails at the bar. We also had breakfast at the restaurant too, the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had! My ONLY criticism of the whole weekend was the bar staff at the lounge/bar area could have been a little more accommodating, the lady kept disappearing when ourselves and other guests required more drinks. I would 100% recommend this hotel and especially the restaurant!

Was an ok experience but will not be returning. Firstly, I booked a table online for a family celebratory dinner in advance but was only given an option for a 6.15pm table. It was clear that they only allocate tables later in the evening for hotel guests, not sure why we were treated second class. Also I tried to get hold of the hotel to a) request a later table b) add an additional guest c) request a cake / message for a special birthday. I called numerous times over 10 days and sent an email but no response. Pretty shocking. As for the food - was a bit hit and miss, the crab starter was amazing but the salmon and fillet steak mains were hugely over cooked. The biggest disappointment was that there was no birthday cake / piped message on the dessert which is what I requested over email and I even mentioned it to the waiter on the night. It’s the little things sometimes that make the biggest difference. It’s not the cheapest of restaurants which is fine but when you are charging £16 for a starter and £30+ for a main you have expectations. Unfortunately these were not met so I do not recommend.

RG's restaurant is over-priced for what is delivered; any menu that offers prawn cocktail should forewarn of the target market here! Presentation of food is excellent but food itself is average; there is significant mark-up on wine (x3 in some cases) and overall it doesn't feel like value for money relative to my experience in other hotels and restaurants. My lamb cutlets were pink (as advertised) but slightly "under", accompaniments were great; the delicious crab was overwhelmed by the gazpacho and the slightly tough pigeon combined with citrus was a little too jarring with the fennel somewhat lost in the mix. My partner's steak was well cooked, seasoned and tasty. The dining experience in the Elements bar was far better (same kitchen) and the sides were excellent. I noted that a few diners were eating in the restaurants on a "voucher" and probably felt that they were getting more value for money in that regard. At best the meal was worth £100 and not the eye-watering £180 for 2 starters/mains with wine and service that we paid. Based on our experience of dinner we opted to skip breakfast.

We had a dinner reservation at 7:45, our food did not arrive until 8:30, what was worse was that the chicken was actually raw and when we proceeded to tell our waiter, he said "why don't you cut a piece and try it?" to which we thought was just bizarre... not only did he not apologise for the delay, but told us to eat raw chicken? The meat was still pink and texture was bouncy. We told him it was clearly raw and then he said "so what do you want then, well done chicken?" we could not believe what we were hearing, how else is chicken meant to be cooked... afterwards, he took the plates away to bring us a new meal and again we waited over 20 minutes for that to arrive, at which point we were already so very underwhelmed by not only the food but the lack of good service. Maybe it was because we were young or whatever the case may be but nevertheless we were still paying quite a lot of money. After we decided to leave, we informed him that we did not want dessert but he did not seem to care and just told us to wait at the table, again we waited 15mins and nothing happened, he was walking in and out the room and refused to make eye contact, we got up to leave on our own accord and once again he told us to wait as they were bringing out plates which would only be 1 minute, again after 10 further minutes nothing happened and we got up to leave. He then came out from the other dining room and said he spoke with the chef and the chef said it'd be coming now, we were already annoyed and clearly he did not come from speaking to the chef. A very disappointed experience. We do wish to say thank you to one of the waiters, the one who sat us down at out table at the beginning and who was really nice, apologised for the delay and everything that happened.

I've eaten here for dinner and lunch and both times found the portions to be very small considering the high prices. For the dinner, part of my meal contained a side of kale that was heavily over-salted and inedible. When I ate lunch (after using the spa) the portions were so small that they didn't fill me up, and I don't have a big appetite. I needed to order dessert to fill the gap. Service and ambience are good, but they should really review their high prices and minuscule portions.

We were on an overnight spa break which was a gift. The room was lovely, the staff were professional and helpful and the spa was what we expected. The restaurant meal in the evening however, was a real disappointment. We ordered the open lasagne and the trout. When it arrived you could be forgiven for thinking it was a starter portion. The lasagne was bland and I could not identify any sautéed spinach which was supposed to be part of the dish. The tomato salad consisted of a few slices of tomatoes arranged on top of some lettuce leaves, more of a garnish than a side dish. The trout was tiny and not particularly tasty. We should have cut our losses at this point but we were still hungry, so we both ordered dessert. A chocolate fondant arrived with no hint of a soft chocolate centre, clearly well over cooked and the crème caramel was a small disc of what tasted like curdled egg. We are used to eating in good restaurants where portions are not huge, but the quality of the food makes the experience. This was not the case at RG’s. We had one drink each and a bowl of olives (swimming in brine) and the bill came to just over £100. I don’t mind paying this sort of money for good food, but we both felt that this was not an experience which we ever wanted to repeat.

I had only heard good things about rowhill grange before coming and the location is absolutely stunning. However we came for afternoon tea and the staff were incredibly unhelpful throughout - at first they couldnt find our booking reference and insinuated we had booked the wrong thing. Instead of offering us drinks and making us feel comfortable they faffed about with this for ages which made us feel unwelcome and i noted they queried the same thing with the two tables next to us, clearly vouchers for afternoon tea are popular so why make it so hard? Then another member of staff walked into me as she was not paying attention to where she was going followed by another staff member offering our food to a completely wrong table. The food itself was also very disappointing for £50 sandwiches were dry, another table had to send theirs back. Overall it was very overpriced and didnt do the place any favours and its a shame as one the waiters there arrived as we were leaving and he was incredibly helpful.

A service charge of over 15% added to absolutely everything. Ate dinner here on two nights as part of a two-night stay at the hotel and to use the spa facilities with my wife. The restaurant claims to be award-winning. Based on our experience, I can only assume that this is true if the awards were for hippy things like sourcing local ingredients, rather than the quality of the meals prepared here. Let me be clear: they were by no means awful, but they also never rose above the average. Here are impressions of two separate meals on two separate evenings:Night 1: menu was small but had some interesting choices; I had roast quail in a walnut risotto to start, and roast duck with celeriac, spinach, mashed potato and wild cranberries for a main. Both courses were OK. But they definitely sounded better than they tasted. It's not that there was anything bad about them, just that they weren't well-realised. For example, I could hardly taste the walnut in the walnut risotto. The duck was juicy, but chewy too. Didn't bother with dessert as they looked uninspired. Oh, and the bill was wrong: we had two GLASSES of prosecco and they had put two BOTTLES of prosecco on the bill, which obviously made a bit of a difference to the final cost! Check yours carefully. To be fair, they were very sorry on having the mistake pointed out to them and rectified it immediately.Night 2: had the scallops for starters and the fillet steak for mains. Scallops were done almost perfectly, though just a tad rubbery. Steak was very good, in an excellent mushroom and white wine sauce. A much better experience than the first night. Even discovered a particularly good new cabernet sauvignon. Had a cheese plate for dessert this time, and the cheeses were a bit mixed. What was good was excellent, but what was not was vile. Given the price of the place, this considerably better second night of food made the difference between a 2- and 3-star rating.

We were in a party of 4 and were greeted upon arrival and shown through to the bar for pre dinner drinks where we promptly ordered some lovely cocktails by a very knowledgeable barman/waiter who conjured something up especially for us. We were not rushed into the restaurant but when we did go through the waiter recognised our friends from their one and only previous visit over a year earlier which was impressive (I hope he remembered them for good reasons!). My friend and I asked if we could have the pate from the bar menu which they were happy to accommodate and was really tasty followed by the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and lovely and tender. There was a bit of a mix up with our cabs at the end of the night but all in all a thoroughly good evening - we will definitely visit again but it is pretty expensive so will only be for a special occasion.

My fears were quashed when I realised that there was a strong possibility that the staff had also read them and completed some training. They were very polite, friendly and had good etiquette (always served me first for example). The food was brilliant, very well balanced, very well cooked and very well presented. In terms of value for money, it was a little expensive but not more than you'd expect to pay for good food. The setting is quiet and beautiful, although inside did seem a little pretentious. It's a lovely place but a little less pomp and a little more down to earth would have been nice. I wouldn't go every week but I'd definitely head back there again sometime.

Visited the restaurant at Row-hill for my wife's 50th birthday meal. When booking we advised of the occasion Upon arriving we were asked by reception for the booking name for our party of 4. We gave the name and we were then asked for the time of the reservation. Given we arrived at 6.50 for a 7pm reservation, it shouldn't have been difficult to find the booking. Once found we were then told to take a seat in the bar area. No offer to go directly to the table? We proceeded to order some drinks and waited to be called for our table. After waiting and waiting we decided to walk through to the restaurant ourselves unannounced. There was nobody immediately on hand to greet us! Then five people came into view with one showing a modicum of interest. We were then shown to the table. There were just two other tables occupied by 2people on each so why the wait in the bar and why they were too busy to collect us escapes me. The menus were provided and I had to ask the waiter to repeatedly provide the menus to my wife and two adult daughters before passing to me. He then proceeded to offer the bread to me ahead of my wife and daughters and again when taking the food orders. What is it with traditional values of women being considered first!!!Having said all of the above, the food was amazingly good and would definitely recommend. As for the service, this leaves a great deal to be improved on. There was also absolutely no recognition of it being a special occasion although I stated at the time of booking....poor!

Went for a meal at RG's at Rowhill Grange last night, not what you would expect from a nice hotel. For the starters we had was scallops with black pudding and pork. Arrived on a very cold plate, hence the starters went cold very quickly. The main course arrived on a wooden board, which was the mixed grill, the lamb chop was cold, as was the sausage, the steak was overcooked. The poor waiter could hardly speak English and took it back to the kitchen, where they just warmed it all up and put a new garnish on the board. The steak was still overcooked. Meanwhile my husband had the Dover Sole which was also luke warm, and served on a cold plate. He had asked for it to be boned, which they did, but left the white skin on the fish! After complaining, they removed the mixed grill from the bill and did ask if we would like dessert and/or a liqueur on the house, but we declined. It is not a cheap place to eat by any means, and I definitely expected much better. It used to be quite good.

We were staying in the hotel on a half board basis so hence our visit to RG's.The entrance and bar area lack any feeling of welcome and are clearly not used to full advantage. This could so easily be improved by creating a warmer atmosphere, especially the bar. One suspects that the majority of guests use the Elements bar at the other side of the hotel. The dining area is clean, bright and fresh. Lighting could be more focused by table and I just hate the lack of table cloths. The food here is first rate and deserves a more special ambiance at the table. Choice of wines was limited and on the high side although so high as to be unaffordable. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. What more can one ask. Finally, the food. As stated above, it really is first rate. Starters were imaginative and packed with flavour. Dover sole on the bone was expertly cooked and presented with vegetables that actually tasted as they should. Pricing was good too! Desserts were good rather than great, possibly because the other courses were so good? Coffee and hand made petits fours finished the repas. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable meal and all the better for being such a pleasant surprise.

My friend and I came here for afternoon tea. It was a birthday treat. It was very hot day but the lounge area was cool. Service was poor and afternoon tea was not good value for money. My friend and I suffered tummy upsets after so all in all very disappointing expensive birthday celebration

We were very impressed with the high standards at RG's restaurant. It was clean with carefully laid up tables and a great ambience. The service was attentive, efficient and professional. The food was delicious and the menu well balanced and thought out. Breakfast was brilliant. Everything was fresh or well cooked and set us up for the day. Eating was the best experience and we highly recommend you give it a try!

Service was of a high standard. Waiter had knowledge of all meals on offer and could recommend wine to go with each meal. Fillet Steak was cooked perfect to order requested.

Firstly, the waiting staff are excellent. On hand but unobtrusive. Food was very disappointing. Starters that would fit on a tablespoon and main courses with little or no flavour served with cold hard potato fondant. No more warm bread rolls just sliced bread offered in brown & white. This lunch was part of a spa day so I can only assume that a better effort is made in the evenings?

Dinner is on the expensive side, and we were disappointed with the ravioli starter (pasta too firm) but the mixed grill main course was excellent with fresh tasty grilled meats. Service was great with no delays.

My husband and I ate in RGs when we stayed at Rowhill Grange. It was pretty expensive but the food was excellent. I had a fillet steak which could have been cut with a butter knife it was so tender. My husband had a sirloin which was also cooked to perfection. We can recommend the peanut brittle dessert, it was heavenly. The wine was reasonably priced, we paid £22 for a very enjoyable sauvignon blanc. The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. Would definitely eat here again as a special treat.

visited for afternoon tea. the hotel and grounds are lovely and the room we had tea in was very light but could have done with the doors being opened as it was very hot. the waiter who showed us to our table had excellent customer service but unfortunately the service throughout the afternoon from other staff did not match his service. service was not bad we just had to keep asking for more tea etc. the food was lovely and the cakes were amazing. would definitely return.

Very disappointed with out visit to RG's restaurant. Sat at the table for 40 minutes before we were offered a drink, waiter very clumsy and waitress who bought the food didn't know what she was serving! Two steaks served cold and returned, although admittedly they were replaced without question, unfortunately the other 4 people in our party had finished their main course before they were returned. Don't mind paying for good quality for a special occasion, but could have done better elsewhere for less. By 10pm the waiters/waitresses were clearing off tables and re-laying for what we presume was for breakfast the next day - poor show for what was expected to be a top quality restaurant, we hadn't even reached the dessert course - felt very rushed and didn't feel it was very professional.

I dined here recently whilst vising the Hotel spa and the waiting staff were amazing and cannot be faulted. However, I have to say it was seriously over priced for the quality of food I was served. If you look at some michelin starred restaurants in the area thay are very similar in price to the meal I had which was scallops as a starter and a mixed grill. The starter was very nice but the mixed grill really was only of a gastropub quality. It was a good job I ordered a peppercorn sauce extra (which was devine) as the whole dish was quite dry. I paid well over fifty quid for the meal and walked away dissapointed, hungry and feeling ripped off.

Enjoyed a perfectly nice meal here a few weeks ago. No complaints whatsoever, but the restaurant seems to have gone through some changes and is nowhere near as 'special' as it used to be. The menu seems to be more geared towards the casual dining market now, the guys on the next table were dressed in jeans and t shirt having steak and chips and a few pints. I think the whole hotel is 'dumbing down' a bit to be honest, there was an Abba tribute night being advertised...nothing wrong with that but I can't imagine it would have happened here a year or so ago.

I have often visited this hotel merely for the restaurant at lunch time as I work close by. I am delighted to say the standards of customer care have improved vastly. I am told they are under new management and it really shows. Normally serve lovely smoothies, good coffee, nice selection of wine and lunch has alwys been good. Will make trips more regularly.

We came here yesterday for our wedding anniversary and didn't regret it. The location is a sight to behold in itself, a beautiful estate with a lovely manor house and splendid gardens. Service was very friendly, competent and swift, and the food left nothing to be desired. The smoked salmon starter came with a wonderful combination of julienned cucumber and herbs that really lifted the fish and made for an unusual, surprisingly complex flavour experience. Black bream with mushroom foam was a delight too, although the shellfish lasagne it came with was perhaps a tad overpowering and kind of surplus to requirements. Dessert was the star attraction though: a truly inspired, heavenly rhubarb sorbet with "thick custard" ice cream that nearly had me ordering a second portion. Coffee panna cotta with "evaporated milk" ice cream was exceptional too, so even if the bill was rather hefty (and came with that annoying 12.5% service charge), we felt the quality of the food, the relaxed, classy ambience and the excellent service warranted the price. Our first visit, but certainly not our last.

The dinner at Rowhill Grange in Dartford, Kent, was a complete surprise. On a brief visit to Dartford I was taken to this restaurant and the excellence of meal, the staff so well trained, I will remember for a very long time; so much so that I hope to be able to return next year. And to stay in the Hotel, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Well worth a visit ... the menu I did not find limited; after all, if a restaurant has a huge choice then something must be wrong; how can one keep food fresh if the list of choices goes on forever.Thank you Mr. Heath (the Manager).Pauline N. AS a treat for my friend on her birthday I took her to Rowhill Grange for afternoon tea on Monday 30th April. We were seated in a comfortable room with other diners and our choice of refreshment was taken. The Champagne was poured immediately. this was delicous and set the afternoon off nicely. Although traditionally tea is the favourite we both opted for coffee which was promptly delivered by a smiling waiter who offered to pour. A three teir plate was set down before us upon which the food items were presented.SANDWICHES, four finger sandwiches each, each with a different filling, which was not particularly generous, just acceptable, bread was fresh though.SCONES, four small sized fruit scones together with a dish of each jam and clotted cream. The scone was good, not too crumbly ,and topped with jam and cream it looked a picture. CAKES, a selection of small cakes sat very prettily on the third tieir. All the cakes contained cream and after one or two we felt it was all just a bit sickly.STAFF, absolutely charming, I asked for more coffee and the waiter returned with it in a couple of moments, together with fresh cups for us which was a nice touch.Overall, good value. The small size of the scones and cakes was absolutely appropriate for this type of tea but it was a pity about the cream content of every single cake.A finger of madeira or fruit cake or even carrot cake would have been welcome. In spite of my comments I reccommend it for a totally civilized afternoon!

We stayed at Rowhill Grange on a spa break and had evening meal in this restaurant, which I would thoroughly recommend. Lots of choice including plain food if you want it, steak, chicken etc. We had 3 courses, bottle of wine, 2 large bottles of water, coffee and it came to £122. It has to be be said the service is second to none in this restaurant and they make their own bread which is always a good sign. Presentation of the food is beautiful as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

We decided to stay locally this year and as we had dined and used Rowhills facilitiesin the past thought this would be perfect.Alas, this was not to be.We waited ages to be shown to our table, the food was lukewarm andthe waiters rude.We came home early before midnight as we had had enough. We were warned when booking from other friends that the restaurant had gonedownhill and that they had lost a star. Our fault, went ahead with the booking thinking maybe they would make an effortas it was a new years dinner.Never again would we choose this Hotel for new year.Very disappointing.
