Lovely fresh Christmas trees here at a great price. So, you pop in and spend 5 minutes looking at all the wonderful things for sale. there's so much good quality and variety that you will still be there an hour later. Then you think café, cake ,soup, breakfast, sandwiches, welsh rarebit the list goes on and all made and served by staff who love their work are happy and very friendly. in a lovely bright clean café. We are all asked so often to help others and all sorts of charity. what you do when you visit here is you help others and you can see that help in front of your eyes. Please go and visit, if you don't have transport the number 1 buses stop just on the corner so easy to get there. Once you have been you will go back time and again. And always remember them if you are disposing of anything. their very helpful staff will come and collect or you can drop it off. The thing about the place is it doesn't matter about the past, everything is looking to the future, a better life for everyone and even the planet by recycling. Not open Sunday or Monday.

I love visiting the Revive Cafe at Emmaus as it is really welcoming and the staff are lovely. This week I visited with a friend and we started with coffee and a tea cake which was delicious. The really nice lady who usually mans the till was not there, on holiday we were told. However the lady who was on the till was reallly very smiley and chatty and friendly, perfect for the job. We browsed Emmaus then returned to the cafe for a cup of tea and a bowl of chips which were perfect. Thank you all for your welcoming friendliness during our visit.

My human friends have always used this cafe but only used to take me in the summer to sit outside - however found out recently that I am allowed to join them inside. Great news as means I can enjoy a sausage whilst one of them has breakfast (which he says is excellent - and he's as fussy about his food as I am) whilst the other (a very picky eater) goes bargain hunting, returning for coffee and yummy teacakes. The staff treat me like royalty - greeting me and ensuring my sausage is cooked to my liking. They seem to be pretty welcoming to the humans too - always finding time to make sure they're happy with the food and putting up with their strange requests (extra mushrooms- well done bacon etc etc) and sometimes get involved in the sort of stuff that humans chat about. Not sure I understand but they always seem to leave very happy with the experience. Keep up the good work Rubydog.

Came in with a group of about 14 people. We were greeted with a warm welcome before two tables were put together by request for us. There was a very dapper looking lovely gentleman playing on the piano who played happy birthday for our friend amongst other tunes. I think the longest part was choosing what we wanted to eat, I was torn between a breakfast (£7) and cheesy chips! Once we had ordered the food came out quickly, which surprised us as so many of us had ordered at once. I had a wrapped brownie off the counter where you order and pay and it it didn’t disappoint. When my cheesy chips (£2.50) came to the table they were piping hot and very cheesy, absolutely delicious, the portion was just right. Everyone else was happy with their food and drinks, we all left full and happy. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Benn here for lunch a few times before writing this review. Love the look of the café, very quirky and retro. Varied menu, breakfast, sandwiches etc. I tried the omelette, very good and the Welsh Rarebit also very good. Several people with me chose a sandwich, and that was what they got, a sandwich! no garnish ( leaves, few crisps etc). Rather boring. The few cakes they had when we visited looked tired so we didn't bother. A mooch around Emmaus is brilliant I always buy something and the general staff are so helpful. However I do feel the staff in the cafe could be more warm & friendly, this is not based on one visit but over several. A few smiles would be nice.

I don't really know how we've managed to live in Brighton for years and not know about Emmaus. It was only a recent news article about a social enterprise to skill ex-prisoners through re-fitting their new clothes shop that we heard about it. Then found it was one of those "in the know" places. Anyway, we had a great time mooching around the different shops on site and picked up a couple of items. We finished with a sandwich lunch and coffee. Good simple and substantial food, served professionally and with a friendly smile. Dogs are welcome throughout the site indoors and out, though only on the terrace of the cafe (not inside). So a fair weather venue for dog guardians if you are eating or drinking there with the pooch. What a great place!

Wonderful place! I've been coming here for years, and would definitely recommend it to other families. Thoughtfully and beautifully decorated to compliment the secondhand Emmaus shops that surround it (eg: vintage tins on the wall, a variety of different tables and chairs, recycled wood, etc), with lots of space between tables, making it easier for wheelchairs and pushchairs to get around it than in most other cafes/restaurants I've been to. Service was fast and friendly, food was tasty, good value, and a perfect warm bite to eat for my toddler and teen, I'm SO glad Emmaus have this place on the grounds. Top marks to all the Companions, other staff, and volunteers that put so much into making this place so great!

I really don’t want to write this review, but one member of staff ruined it. Food not bad at all, but the lady at the till was actually quite rude and made me feel uncomfortable. We went the Emmaus after being recommended here by a friend. We were pleasantly surprised by what we found and ended up spending a good 2-3hours here. It has two sites full of bric-a-brac. One of the sites (the old chapel) predominantly sells vintage furniture, crockery etc. Whereas the other site (an old warehouse/workshop) houses more contemporary things. If you enjoy car boots you’ll love this place, especially on a rainy day. There’s also a lovely cafe on site with very reasonably priced breakfast and lunches, which can be eaten inside or in the gardens of the old convent walls. This is the most lovely cafe, with delicious food and such kind owners. We love to come here in our school breaks to enjoy a good coffee and a filling lunch. They have a huge menu with something for everyone.
