Retford Charcoal Grill in Bassetlaw

I just had a pretty poor experience. I ordered a chicken donner on their website to collect after the opening time of 3pm, it said I had paid and I was waiting for confirmation which didn’t come, so I called them. I was in a busy place but managed to talk to someone who said the line was crackling (I could hear him fine) and then he put the down on me! I was nearby so I walked in and he said they had only been open 10 mins even though it was 20 mins past their opening time which I pointed out and the food looked way off ready. I have no time for this kind of service. Why not pre prepare ahead of time and at the very least call and let me know? And putting the phone down on a paying customer was bang out of order. I rarely complain about these kind of things but it’s just plain bad customer service, and I dont even know if they took my money or if I’ll get my money back as I paid online. Never going back which is a shame as I pride myself in supporting local businesses. Poor service and attitude, and that leaves a poor taste in the mouth no matter the quality of the food. Must do better, such a shame..

Attitude when I phoned to ask when my order will be delivered. When it arrived throw some of it away and pizza was cold. Never again. Rubbish. If you can't cope with busy orders then don't promise delivery

Just ordered a chicken shish with salad and chips. The salad I selected didn't register at the business end. I've paid over 11 pounds for small chicken in a pitta and chips. I called to ask if they could rectify the mistake and send the salad, and was told there is nothing they could do as the order came through without salad. I explained that although I understand that they only delivered what the ticket told them, that there is an issue ordering online as I did select all salad. Now was an opportunity to put it right. They didn't want to. First and last time I order from them. They couldn't care less about the customer.

Ordered during the great chilli sauce famine of March 2024..... bone dry mixed kebab, naan bread like powder in my hands.... No lamb shish whatsoever and freezing cold on arrival.

Very disappointed in our take away tonight. Chips undercooked, lamb tough, overcooked chicken shish, pitta bread cut up into small pieces and dry and the delivery to South Leverton took 1hr and 20 mins. We order from you a lot but this was in edible

Been going to charcoal for years and food in shop is always great. Good pizza and best kebabs in town. Staff are always friendly when I collect and the shop is very clean.

Over an hour wait and after chasing via phone told it had left fifteen mins later it finally arrived cold and no sauce on one of the kebabs .... Usually a good place to eat but it's a sorry Saturday service!

Don’t phone near closing time when you phone for a delivery and asks you to repeat the postcode that many times till you forgot your were hungry. if u don’t want to deliver certain times change your closing time.

This is the only place we order from since moving to Retford and the food is spot on but recently the service has gone downhill some, the last probably 5/6 orders we’ve had have been missing bits and when we ring up about it, it seems like an inconvenience to them or they just haven’t turned up with our missing food/ drinks, shame really as would be 5 stars otherwise

Ordering couldn't be simpler, all online. It arrives with such speed and tastes amazing. Other takeaways who can only offer a 2 hour wait need to take note!

Doing great during the pandemic. The owner has gone to great lengths to ensure that his regulars get their hot piping food delivered safely with all covid-19 protocol in place.

Had a mix up with my order got lamb instead of chicken. But as always nothing is to much trouble for theses boys... Changed the meal with a smile and great service. Thanks for that. See you all again soon 😎

Remember that show Cheers? The place you go where everyone knows your name. This place has the most friendly staff you ever know. The owner is a really lovely and nice person. The food is awesome, well reasonable priced, in a good location for there a ATM just a few steps away from the store. Benches outside if you want to sit and eat. I highly recommend if you got the munchies. This is the best place to go.

Open at 2pm, but not really ready to serve any food until after 3pm 🤔. Great deals, but poor service. Have ordered here a few times and whenever I have requested no sweetcorn on my pizza or no chilli sauce it has been completely ignored. Today took the biscuit Open at 2pm, but not really ready to serve any food until after 3pm 🤔. Had seen online that they open at 2pm.When I got there to collect my order at 2:30 the manager or owner came out to say he rejected the order online as they were not ready to serve any food for another 45 mins. I had no email or communication via their website or email to say they rejected the order. Completely wasted my time. I strongly suggest they set opening times back an hour or ensure they are ready to take orders and serve food when they say their hours of business are open. Ensuring that their website sends their account customers correct notifications would help too.

Orders food ages ago. Got told 45 mins. An hour later we phone up for an update and they say it's on its way. 20 mins later we receive a call to say they dropped it somehow even though they said it's on its way. Thy said it would be a further 15 mins. Half an hour later were still sat here waiting..... telling porkies saying it's on its way....

Disgusting service. The foreign guys that run this buisness will eventually befriend you and your partner. To then message privately to hook up with your wife for "coffee" to then be turned down. The minute this is recognised by "husband" all deliveries are refused after this innaproptiate behaviour. This is no service you expect from an innocent night in with food. FYI severel of these emplyees have been arrestested under serious circumstances BEWARE

Quick delivery, shame about the quality of food. Doner meat and chips with salad and garlic mayo, was only just warm even though only a few mins from shop chips tasted and looked like they'd been sat ages and doner meat soaked in garlic mayo, complete wasted if I could post pics I would, will not be ordering from here again.

Pizza is delicious. Service with a smile. Hasn't disappointed us yet.
