Just stopped by for a drink, bit good.

Went twice. Had wood pigeon, venison and Belgian chocolate pudding. Gorgeous. Loved it

amazing fresh local produce, superb flavours and menu choice, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

Fabulous food (you must try the whole Nidderdale trout), relaxed atmosphere but excellent service. Traditional Dales pub ambience, food prices are top end but wine is reasonable.

Excellent food and service for a party of 12.

Walked all the way there for some beers and it was shut @ half term school holidays, try elsewhere, they need to display opening times on website 👎

An excellent atmosphere in this lovely country pub. The food is varied and delicious. We just attended a 50th wedding anniversary there. They coped admirably with a party of 16, giving us good, friendly service. The range of food chosen was wide and all cooked to an excellent standard.

Most will think before 5 stars are awarded to a venue of any kind. Well talking to a stranger who had driven one hour to eat at this wonderful Sportsmans arms made the recommendation sound to be the place to eat if you really want to enjoy superbe service, food and setting. Menu can be seen online and prices for staying in this old but tastefully decorated and garden layout. It's just one of those places one will never forget. We went back the next day for lunch it was that good the night before. Not the lowest in price but not the most expensive either, and the food quality is as the saying goes. You get what you pay for.

Met friends for dinner and had a wonderful meal, tasty beverages and friendly staff.

The staff here are always so lovely, it's a perfect walk up from Pateley Bridge and the food is great.

This is a great place to eat, friendly staff, good food, and even an open fire. Food was well presented, perfectly cooked and in sensible quantities. Lots of local options as well; beers, fish and game. Highly recommended if you are nearby, though the road to get there is a bit tight in places.

Went for Sunday lunch, disappointing quality and quantity considering the price. Some of the staff were excellent, others, not so helpful.

If you like snazzy this place is for you, or at least one of their rooms is for you. The outside and the entrance seating didn’t give the posh vibe at all. We reserved a table but we weren’t given the choice where to sit which is fine but to me it makes a big difference. I didn’t know enough about the place, I though it was just a typical pub that served food. The waiters even took it very seriously, I felt like I was in Paris or something. Anyway I can’t really fault them on that that’s just my preference, this place would definitely float many peoples boats. The food portion size were okay… but the prices are definitely up there. I had a three course and by the end I was full and happy, which I guess you should expect. I think this place would suit many people especially if you’re thinking of a special meal with a special person 🙂

Fantastic food and a stunning location. Building is also very pretty and well maintained. Service started a bit iffy, I wanted to sit outside and there was only one other table occupied, I was very abruptly told I needed a table number, like I had just committed the greatest sin of the 21st century. After resolving my crime of the century my food was delivered to the table, a nice beef sandwich and chips.....no asking if I would like any sauces for my chips or anything like that, you get what you're given. Can't tell if this is because I wasn't a local or if it's because I'm a biker and it's an upmarket establishment.....which is funny because my Harley was worth more than 90% of the cars in the car park.....but I digress. When I went back in for a second drink, service picked up, I was asked if I enjoyed my meal and staff were friendlier this time. I try not to hold grudges hence the 4 star rating but while I'm not local, this was my 4th visit in two weeks and only this time did I have issues, maybe they don't like bikers here or I just caught them on a bad day?

I what to buy a drink from the bar and a racist staff told me she can't proceed my order without a table number so I was going back to take a table number and after someone's served me with a bottle of wine and he didn't even ask for the table number! Totally disappointed about this attitude 😒

The food was top drawer fare, beautifully cooked, presented and exceptionally tasty. The service was attentive, friendly but not overpowering. All in all, a most agreeable experience, and the breakfast was very good too.

One night stay. We'll looked after, good food and wine, great breakfast. Very traditional, slightly old world feel but nothing wrong with that. Would stay again.

Was not made to feel welcome clearly the local posh bar. Comments cause i never had a mask on.. we don't have to.

Excellent service and excellent food. Dog friendly and open coal fire. All in all well recommended. Don't know about rooms and great fast. They have dog friendly rooms.

B and B and everything meal treat from our Son and partner for our 31st wedding anniversary x. Everything has been beautiful, what a fabulous place that we would love to visit again. Thank you for making everything special. Buddy loved it too xx

What a beautiful location , staff were very welcoming and attentive. There was a good selection of food on the menu. We were a party of 14 and dealth with in a very timely manner. All the food looked and tased excellent, i have the meat board to start followed by the Venison which was excellent. The wine menu was good and overally a really nice experience.

Lovely step back in time after a short river walk from Pately Bridge. Pub food not cheap but overall a good experience and well worth the visit.

Fantastic food and plenty to choose from on the menu. The Selection of Yorkshire meats and rillettes of pork were delicious, local steak and venison melted in the mouth and desserts we're a great finish. Very friendly service. You must book early for the restaurant or get there early for a seat in the bar as they don't take reservations there.

Angie (Miss Food Connoisseur 2019) and I had a superb meal here today. The steak was perfect, as was the hake - yes, we know it rhymes. Veg sides and salad were delightful. Desserts ... Angie left for heaven for a while. Great location, excellent menu. Enjoy this!

We had lunch outside on a beautiful day, having walked across the fields from Pateley Bridge. The salmon and prawn sandwich on wholemeal bread was delicious and well filled, and we had a lime and soda as such a warm day. Jolly good value and can't wait to return!

We are 4 ladies on holiday in Pateley bridge, this restaurant was recommended to us. What a lovely place, the ladies and gent who looked after us were fabulous and friendly, the food was amazing (although very garlicky) we managed 3 courses and a few drinks. The whole ambience was lovely, and the place itself inside and out was stunning

A great spot to break up a walk in lovely Nidderdale. A pint, a delicious sandwich, some fine chips and a refill of my water bottle was just the ticket and set me up perfectly for a stroll round the Gouthwaite reservoir.

A lovely country hotel restaurant. Great to stop for a drink, which we did. We were tempted by the Welsh rarebit which was one of the best that I've had. Nice selection of local beers including the local Nick Stafford brewery. We came across this by chance and were very lucky to have found this classy country restaurant/bar. There is a very narrow bridge on one approach over the river so camper vans be warned!

Didn't have the food but appeared to be upmarket fare. Nice ambience inside the restaurant and friendly helpful staff on the premises. We just sat outside with a drink in the sunshine , enjoying the garden. Its over a little humpback bridge so you could easily miss it driving down the road from the reservoir. enjoyed their bottled Porter ( cherry and plum i think)

Food was good though pricey, beer good. Covid precautions seemed none existent except for sanitiser at entry (and exit!) door. People wandering in and getting served at the bar, at one time 7 deep. If seated outside this was the only way to get served. Payment was requested by one of the party to re-enter and pay at the bar. One bar person said they were short staffed, no excuse I'm afraid. Pretence of being a high class establishment I'm sorry to say.
