Afternoon tea Cannot fault the quality of the food or the wonderful room, BUT the experience was spoilt for us when charged over £3 for fresh tea. Tea is served in pots that go cold very quickly, and to be charged for more is just miserly. Other establishments cheerfully keep fresh tea coming. I know which I'd go back to...... Also, beware the service charge which is not mentioned on the menu, another negative.

Good food, fast service and friendly staff. Arancini balls to start were lovely- with a fresh salsa and rocket salad on the side. The chicken for mains were served in lovely mushroom and cream sauce. Be sure to sit in the green chairs in the bar! So comfortable!

We stayed here for 2 nights. Both nights the staff was great and we had excellent service in the bar. One night we brought in take out for our kids since they don’t do well with sit down dinners and they were kind enough to supply us with silverware and let us use the bar tables to eat. The bartenders and night staff were so friendly and we had a great visit with them. We would definitely be back and would recommend staying to anyone planning a visit. The rooms were large, clean, and very unique.

We were only at Kincraig for a one night stay and had Navadeep as our bartender. He was kind enough to start the fire for us and make us a few specialty cocktails. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a drink at the restaurant, and ask for Navadeep if he’s around!

Last September we had a excellent Sunday lunch at Kilncraig,so much so we decided to lunch at this place again. What a difference,we new that the hotel had been sold to Indian property people who owned a hotel in southern England but it would be trading as before . On arriving instead of being shown to the beautiful dining room we were seated in a nice lounge where a couple were the only other customers. We were given the menus which showed a 3 course menu. The starter was a choice of 4 items which sounded ok.What we received was ok but nothing special.The main course was the very big let down. There were 3choices Chicken pie with potatoes and veg. Salmon served with potatoes and veg Chicken breast served in a mushroom sauce with rice. This sounded ok so we ordered 2 salmon and 1 chicken. 5 minutes after placing our order the Waiter came to tell us the salmon was sold out.We were amazed as there were only 2 other people in the restaurant who had ordered before us who must have got the 2 pieces of fish in stock,so we had to change our order to 3chicken with rice. How a hotel can open for Sunday lunch and operate like this is amazing. They did supply us with free drinks to compensate but we advise anybody booking in the future to be wary of expecting like a good Sunday lunch. Pro..

Wir haben eine Nacht im Kincraig Castle Hotel übernachtet und das kann ich wirklich nur jede(m) empfehlen, der/die NC500 Tour macht oder so durch Schottland unterwegs ist. Tolles Hotel, sehr schönes Restaurant und die Bar ist auch sehr gelungen. Einzig der Service hätte vor allen bei den jungen Kolleginnen noch Luft nach oben. Aber sonst echt alles top! Gerne wieder!

We were staying at the hotel and were very pleased to get a dinner reservation as they were busy. The service was very good and the wait staff were excellent. We chose the local fish and chips and were presented with a substantial meal that was full of flavour. The fish flakes were well cooked and simply melted in your mouth. A simple meal presented very elegantly.

We had dinner on a Sunday evening. I recall that both our meals were very tasty, my main course was venison and it was extremely well presented. However, the decor needs a revamp, a rather tired carpet and furniture.

We went to the Kincraig Castle Hotel for Sunday lunch last week - the whole experience was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. We were seated in the lounge and had a nice pre lunch drink, we were then taken to our table - we had booked a dome, the hotel had supplied a Dyson fan and heater which was ideal to set the temperature. They also provided a speaker so we could play some music - a nice touch. The food was outstanding we all had the Sunday lunch menu (which was great value!) Our party had a mixture of things on the menu - including the game terrine, mussels, roast pork, roast beef, chocolate delice and sticky toffee pudding - all of which were delicious. Some photos attached. After we had finished our desert we were offered tea, coffee, some chocolates and homemade shortbread in the hotel lounge. The service throughout was very polite and attentive. The whole afternoon was just delightful - I can’t wait for my next visit.

Checked on their website to see if they were open for lunch today Wednesday 3rd August and it showed as being open. Arrived with visiting guests to be in formed that they were not open Wednesday as reported on their website. Enquired if we could have afternoon tea and was told NO as it had to be pre-booked. Not impressed with their attitude to passing trade at all.

We arrived as a walk-in for dinner and were promptly seated in the bar area in an alcove with beautiful views in all directions. The main dinner service was just about to start but we were told we could go ahead and order. We were given a menu of Specials for the evening but told that all the main courses were unavailable. This seemed odd, given that dinner hadn't started yet. We ordered two appetizers off the Special menu and two mains off the regular menu. We also ordered a side dish of vegetables. The main that I got was halibut - which should have been wonderful but was both overcooked and oversalted. It was placed in a bed of linguine with squid ink and tomatoes with a few clams mixed in. The tastes did not go particularly well with the halibut though the linguine at least was cooked properly. The mussel appetizer that I had was nicely presented with an onion/garlic/butter sauce, but since no bread was ever brought to the table, there was nothing to really soak up the sauce with. And our side of vegetables never materialized. And we had to take a bottle of water from our backpack to refill our water glasses since our server disappeared mid-meal. I could go on, but while the Hotel was a lovely 2 mile walk from town, and while the grounds are attractive and surroundings beautiful, the food left us wanting.

Freshly prepared, well presented food, by their very tallented chef Chris. I would highly recomend the afternoon tea, lovely sandwiches, freshly baked sausage rolls, scones, with jam and cream and delicious patisseries, yum!

Had dinner here on 2 evenings when staying at the hotel. There is a new menu which is very seafood orientated but with lots of choices. However if you are not a lover of seafood there are still other options. My wife had the burger one evening and the risotto the next. Both were lovely. I had the haddock on both nights as it was the best I had ever tasted. The sweets are exceptional so remember to leave ample space. One small negative is the fact that some of the items (lobster etc) are not priced as they are charged at market value on the day. If you are on a budget this can be a bit embarrassing having to ask the price if you cannot afford it. Service on both evenings was exceptional thanks to Steven. The red wine he chose for us was delicious. Cant wait to go back. Very relaxing atmosphere. We also had breakfast in the restaurant which was wonderful, plenty of choice and nothing was too much trouble. Sets you up for the day.

We dined here to celebrate a birthday and we had an absolutely superb experience. The menu of local produce was delightful. The scallop starters and the venison mains were to die for and were cooked perfectly. The wine menu was also perfect without being too expensive. Service was great and the setting and decor also spot on. All in all a great place to eat and celebrate a special occasion.

The menu is not large as it is a small hotel, but the quality is exceptional as is the service. At present because of covid its only open to residents.

We had the pidgoen and Cullen skink both amazing. Followed by venison and the burger. The burger was a little dry and slightly overcooked but the venison was perfect. Sara was very friendly and funny she couldnt do enough for us.

A limited, but comprehensive well-priced menu. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend the Scallops and Cullen Skink Risotto. The Lemon Possett was divine. Next time we stay, we will definitely be sampling the Taste of Scotland menu. Great service, and a good wine...

I go to the kingraig every time I visit the area and it’s always fantastic. Today was no exception, the beef was perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to visit again.

I was invited to the Soroptomists Ladies Lunch - around 70 of us were there. Service was outstanding from the first glass of wine to the clearing of the table at the end of the day - staff without exception were all outstanding. Food beautifully presented on very attractive plates, incredibly generous portions and everything was delicious. Kitchen staff were asked to come out for a very well deserved round of applause. If you haven't been before or haven't been for a while then make an effort to visit - you won't regret it.

Fantastic silver service for over 100 ladies. Went smoothly like clockwork and the food was delicious. The chef received a round of applause. The staff worked as a tight team and it was an event enjoyed by everyone. Can’t waut until next year. Maxinev

Third time we’ve been to Kincraig Castle for dinner and third time we left with satisfaction. Had a great night with amazing food, the staff was very friendly and the castle itself is stunning.

It's Christmas, you expect prices to be higher but £80 for at best a pub lunch and canteen service. Very very disappointed, food was average at best, for example, plain slices of bread with prawn cocktail, not toasted, no butter. Cold mince pies, no milk at the self service tea and coffee. Servers were a bit clueless "what's £20 minus £8.95?" calculating change. All in a massive anti-climax.

Stunning ingredients, beautifully presented in an attractive dining room. My partner had leek and potato soup followed by cullen skink risotto. I had smoked salmon followed by pork belly. The pork came with a cake of potato and black pudding that was superb. Soft and crunchy at the same time it was worth the trip. Service was excellent and the wines to go with the meal first class.

We went for a dinner to the Restaurant while staying at the Kincraig. Service and food both amazing, although they were very busy with another group but we felt very well looked after! Chef is young and innovative, they have some great dishes on the menu...try it out. Fits perfectly for smaller groups but also for a romantic candle light dinner.

The dining room is lovely and looks out over the garden. The staff are helpful and fun and the food is delicious.

Greatly enjoyed the service and food we had at the Kincraig last night. I had the steak which was beautiful and I would thoroughly recommend it. It is also in beautiful surroundings and you are made to feel very welcome. The needs of our group were also fully catered for. Thanks to everyone at the Kincraig for making it such a great night.

We came for a family meal to celebrate a 60th birthday. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent and we were well looked after. After drinks in the seating area, we were taken through for the meal.

Beautiful place room had everything you need very peaceful big gardens nice scenery food was out of this world full breakfast especially the staff were very friendly&helpful; I was there for nieces wedding everything went great food ,service everything

Really disappointing experience. i had booked a week prior to arriving informing that one of us was dairy and gluten intolerant, yet none of this seemed to be passed on to the kitchen or serving staff when we arrived.

Had an evening meal here and enjoyed excellent service from start to finish. The scallops were excellent and the main fish courses of hake and plaice exceptional. Prices are sensible - about £100 for a 2 course and one on a 3 course meal with sparkling water and 2 large wines. Very good!!!

Kincraig Castle looked after a large group of us (25+) for Dinner so professionally and to such a high standard that a great evening was had by all. Thank you to all at the Kincraig Castle for providing us with such a high level of service.

I can’t remember the last time that I’ve had a meal as delicious as this.

I found a voucher which I got for Christmas and just found it again it expired on the 16/6/2018 I call the hotel today to tell them this and they told me that as it had expired they would not except it now I find this unexceptionable as it not quite a month out of date shame on the hotel

The decor at the restaurant was lively. Our waitress Sara was outstanding. But the meal was very disappointing. The main course was bland and remind me a cafeteria food. Also i was overcharged for my cocktail. Would not recommend this restaurant for dinner.

I booked lunch for two and expected to be in a dining area. As I was asked if we had any allergies or were vegan or vegetarian I didn't doubt it wouldn't be in a dining room. When we arrived we were taken through to a small bar called the snug. We were told we could sit anywhere and given the menu. Again, most disappointed as the choice was either sandwiches or risotto, a burger, fish and chips or a steak. No salad. I really want to treat my friend to a lovely lunch in a lovely setting but this was a bar with bar food.

A very good dinner and breakfast in a very nice and comfortable old building. The service was excellent with friendly, helpful and well trained staff. The hotel and restaurant are closely managed by the owners the bar is also attractive and the lounge area is huge and very comfortable. Open log fires in all the public rooms.

My husband and I had lunch on Sunday, the meal was lovely, three course meal and coffee for £15.95, it just cannot get any better than that. Excellent value in beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful staff. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Popped in just for the interest really so had items from the Wee Pots & pans menu in the Turrett bar. Lovely lady served us, chatty, friendly, knowledgeable. thinking it would be tiny wee portions we ordered more than we would normally - big mistake - couldn't finish it all; the dishes were beautifully cooked & presented and tasty and filling. No rush, attentive lady popped in to ask about drinks refills and deserts - hah, no way, no room! As a 'grazer' I loved it! Wonderful old place - fond memories and we'll be back.

We were staying at the hotel and were road-weary so we decided to eat on site. We were not disappointed-we had a seat in the bar. Service was good and the food delicious! I had the roasted chicken and it was melt in your mouth good!

We stayed at the Kincraig Castle Hotel for two nights and ate in the restaurant both night. The menu choice was excellent, the food was delicious and the service was all that it should be in such an establishment. The Cullen skink was among the best I've ever had, full of smoked fish and hearty chunks of potato, and I alsao loved the Shetland mussels.

Delicious food, friendly owners, and amazing setting all awaited us at the Kincraig Hotel. Our dinner here was the highlight of our NC500 trip. Sitting by the fire for pre dinner drinks is a must on chilly days. We then were able to enjoy a 5 course dinner meal in the restaurant and every last nibble of food was superb. Highly recommend staying here or at least having a meal at the restaurant while in Scotland!

At short notice ,the Kincraig Castle Hotel catered for our party of eight on Sunday night. The head waitress made sure we were all seated together. Gestures like that are the things you appreciate ,and remember for future reference. Our meal was excellent ,and we would return again to experience the lovely ambience.

Booked the lunch on the Saturday - pleasant staff on Reception. Impressive setting.Arrived Sunday for appointed time - again, really professional and pleasant staff. Wait to be taken through to dining room was rather long but well worth the wait. Fabulous food, really competitively priced,well presented with just the right level of staff around.Surroundings quite olde-worlde, giving a grand Scottish feel in a fantastic building.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here on a Friday evening in the bar and drinks beforehand in the beautiful lounge area. The service was great - very personal and prompt, and the quality of the food fantastic. Would love to come back and visit.

We stayed a couple of nights at the hotel and booked well in advance for the first nights restaurant. The staff were exceptional, really top class service and the quality of the setting in the restaurant matched. We opted for the five course menu and this was first class with portion sizes just right and all ingredients fresh and cooked to perfection. For the second night we were unable to be accommodated in the restaurant so ate in the bar which is not your typical bar food but really an extension of the same sort of service as in the restaurant except....... it was really unfortunate given the quality of the food that the service on the second night was poor, not in attitude but the speed of service was exceptionally bad. We had a table booked for 8:15 and came down for drinks at 8 but were not seated in the empty bar but in the lounge area which is fine except... we were then seated for 20 minutes before we had to ask for drinks and then again had to ask for menus. We finally got our orders in and got to the bar at 9:00 it was not full not really overly busy I can only think that there were unseen problems behind the scenes. Wait between courses was 20 minutes which after the delayed start was over the top. Food was great though and we really didn't want to not enjoy this meal so suffice to say disappointed as the rest of the weekend was exceptional. Service rating is for the bar meal the restaurant the previous night was 5*

Had a wonderful Sunday set three course lunch. The beef was so tasty and tender all in such wonderful setting. Really nice to go into the lounge after to help yourself to tea or coffee and no rushing.The staff were so polite and attentive, could not fault here. Do come.

Visited today as a family of 5, was an excellent experience. Food was delicious and very good value at £15.95 for three courses plus tea or coffee. The service was very good and the surroundings beautiful. I would really recommend this to anyone wanting a cosy, high quality Scottish experience. Plan to visit again for Afternoon tea!

We have dined a couple of times in the main restaurant in the past few months, which is superb. The dining room is of a standard you could expect at any high end restaurant with professional yet friendly service. The attention to detail in each dish is excellent, beautifully presented and well thought out. Although the menu is somewhat limited the staff are very accommodating with alternatives and always ask if there are any special dietary needs.Recently we decided to give the bar menu a try. Again the menu was limited and for a bar menu you would really expect a bit more, the choice of starters was much more than the mains. We all decided to have the steak dinner which was marked as "market price", we were informed it was fillet steak on the menu that night. The food was very good and the steaks cooked to order just right. It didn't occur to any of us at the time to inquire the price of the steak and needless to say I was shocked when presented with the bill showing £38 each for them! Now I know that fillet steak is one of the most expensive cuts but this was served just with ordinary trimmings and even £1 extra for a sauce. We all had a round of drinks, starters, mains, coffee and a Prosecco cocktail and for four of us the bill was £240! If we return we will either stick to the restaurant or avoid the steak at "market price" in the bar (or at least remember to ask first).Recent experience aside, this is a fabulous hotel and restaurant which I highly recommend.

I can't praise this place enough! We booked as a group of 12, the hotel were really accommodating, they set up a reserved seating area in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks whilst we waited for everyone to arrive (we were running late as some of our group took an unplanned detour!) but the staff took this in their stride and assured us it was no problem. They'd actually arranged a private dining room for us and seated us at a big square table which was so much nicer than the usual long row you get for a large group - and meant we could all converse with each other instead of just the few people around you. The three staff looking after us were helpful and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble for them and they remembered who'd ordered which course without having to ask. Our wine and water glasses were kept continuously topped up and there was always a staff member to hand if we needed anything, but in a discreet way so it didn't feel like they were in your face all the time. The food. Wow. Just wow!! We all opted for the 5-course set menu at £55 and not only was it beautifully presented, it was absolutely delicious and featured local produce. I opted for smoked duck salad, grilled mackerel, halibut with cassoulet, cheeseboard and baked yoghurt. The portions were sized just right, and the cheese course was very generous. We finished off with coffee and hand-made chocolates then retired to the bar, where the staff had again reserved a table for us, and sampled the extensive whisky menu.Kincraig Castle Hotel is absolutely stunning, the food is top-notch and very good value for money, I'll definitely be back.

We had dinner at Kincraig with 5 people after we've visited the Dalmore distillery. What a beautiful hotel on a beautiful location. The food was absolutely perfect with so much flavour. We highly recommend dining here. Great service, great food and a great location.

Cannot believe this, but a lady sat at the next table to us actually complained to the waitress that her napkin was made of paper (not linen like the tablecloth). Cannot believe her attitude. We were sitting in one of the most beautiful dining rooms that I have ever been in. Gorgeous gardens and surroundings, scrumptious food and lovely attentive waiting staff, not to mention the tea and coffee afterwards. All this for (£15•95) and she complains about a paper napkin ???.......I wanted to scrunch up my used napkin and toss it in her direction.

The service in both the Bar/Lounge where we had Sandwiches, Tea & Cake for Lunch & Restaurant one evening & Bar another evening for Dinner was excellent.Food was beyond good & exceeded expectations.
