The 2nd time we’ve enjoyed this pub over the last few months, so thought I’d leave a review. On both occasions the food has been great, traditional pub food done well. The proprietors are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed / chatty. We did the circular walk from the pub before having lunch - also highly recommend.

Food was OK but a salad of just some leaves and a few bits of onion is rather rubbish value for money even as a side salad. What I objected to was having 10% charge added without my consent when I ordered at the bar. Is taking my order at the Bar and bringing my food to the table really worth 10%? And how can I judge if I want to pay this “ optional “ charge if I have to pay in advance of receiving any service? It was not mentioned on the menu that this service charge would be added.

We were staying locally, so it was good to be able to walk to this Inn for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit of a let-down. On the plus side; the waitress was pleasant and helpful, the rose de Provence was delicious and the service was prompt. One dish; roast rump of lamb, was tender, tasty, well cooked and accompanied by a delicious sauce. The beetroot and goat’s cheese tortellini was not a success. The pasta was thick and the thickest part uncooked. It was on the menu as topped with a garlic butter, but came with a chopped tomato sauce that completely disguised the beetroot/ goat’s cheese filling. I ordered it with a dressed green salad. This was a small bowl of spinach with a few slices of radish and no dressing. On asking for dressing, I got a small ramekin of olive oil. It was nice oil, but not a dressing. Asking again for dressing, I was told that was it! So I asked for some lemon and made my own with the oil and salt/ pepper. I then popped all the tomatoes from the pasta on top and had a not bad salad. But what chef thinks oil is dressing? My husband ordered a (quite expensive) glass of cote du Rhône with the lamb. Another disappointment- it had clearly been open for too long and had gone over - left it unfinished. There were apologies from the waitress (thank you), but £75 for such disappointment was a bit much.

From the warm welcome we received upon arrival, to the delicious food we ate, everything about our visit was perfect. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being encroaching (no irritating “How is your meal?” question midway through eating). The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the roast beef dinner was perfection, with the beef cooked just the right side of pink. The vegetables were plentiful, tasty and fresh, and the Yorkshire pud was both squidgy and crisp. We were too full to manage a dessert, but this will not be the last time we visit The Bathurst Arms - we will definitely fit one in next time.

Myself and a friend popped into the Bathurst on the 8th August. I bought a bottle of pinot which I favoured to be not too expensive. I ordered calamari as a starter and my friend had mushrooms on toast. The bottle of wine was £29 which I thought was madness for the taste. The calamari was not pleasant to the point I couldn't finish it and my friends mushroom on toast was one piece of toast. This little lot came to £58 which is day light robbery for what we had. Very disappointing as the pub is a lovely setting and my sister lives in the village but cannot justify these charges!

A very pleasant place to visit, friendly people and service good. In our view,a little overpriced, a ploughman's with a good thick slice of ham but little else small slice of bread no pickle and very small piecec of cheese, for over 13 quid a fish finger sandwich for 10 pounds, very basic no tartar sauce and skin on fries 4 50, drinks 5 50 for a basic beer and 3.35 for an appletiser. Mini cakes and coffees though were nice and ok at 6.50 each. Worth a visit and maybe better off on the main menu rather than lunch menu, you are in a lovely location too and I guess prices reflect the venue..

Jasmine was doing a great job looking after the guests As everyone left they all said they really enjoyed their stay when staff enquired. The Bathurst is a really clean and cosy inn with 6 letting Rooms situated in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside... Photos show this looks an amazing place to stay... With a full menu selection and well stocked wine and beer cellar, no need go anywhere else to eat and drink... Lovely outside surrounding to enjoy the warm evenings too. No photos of the bedrooms as the guests had just left and the cleaning staff hadn't made up the rooms but they did look well sized, very clean and comfortable when I was working in them. 😎

Had a great experience here in the restaurant area. We arrived at 7 and it was completely quiet but soon became fully booked out. The atmosphere was nice, a cozy traditional pub vibe, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our server, for whom I did not take the name (although she was a lady with an indistinct accent) was so so helpful in helping us decide what to have, to put on the fire for us and with answering our questions! Thank you to this lady. Now the food, was exceptional! I can understand now why this has two Rosettes, and I’m surprised this isn’t promoted more because it’s a great achievement. We ended up trying a few different dishes but I only managed to take pictures of the venison ‘big plate’ - which wasn’t very big and you definitely need something with it - which was amazingly tender and full of flavour! I also had the miso stick toffee pudding which was incredibly moist and a delight to eat. Every single thing we had on the menu on top of these were brilliantly cooked and flavourful. Definitely recommend anyone in the area to visit, albeit paying a premium for this quality meal.

Disappointing Sunday roast under the new management at The Bathurst Arms. The roast beef was terrible. The Yorkshire pudding was frozen and not home made. They use wholesale supplier Brake helping pubs to grow sales and maximise profits in a challenging and evolving pub market. I get that but here’s the thing. There are exceptional Sunday Roasts available in the area for roughly the same price using local produce. Try The Bell at Sapperton, Potting Shed in Crudwell, The Golden Cross or The Bear in Cirencester.

Just needed to get away from the day to day and chill. Stumbled across the Bathurst Arms with a lucky google search. First impression, ‘wow,’ it’s big baby pink character rich building. Fair to say from the moment we walked through the door until the time we left, we had nothing other than an amazing time. Special thanks to Jasmine and every member of the team who all went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant and stress free as possible. Food was great, you’ve got to try the Korean sesame-fried chicken burger, Asian slaw, skin-on chips, was definitely my go to dish and never disappointed. In fact, every dish we tried was superb. Thanks Gareth you certainly know how to knock up some great food, Chef being the unsung hero operating behind closed doors but your food certainly spoke for itself and it was obvious that you are passionate about what you do. Our room was a good size, bed was really comfortable and was a great place to spend the night. Also fair to say the beer was cracking so hats off to the cellar man, good selection of wines so the Mrs was very happy, at times maybe a little too happy :0) only playing but hey our plan was to chill to get away from the day to day, mission accomplished. We’ll definitely be back, Thank You to everyone that made us feel as though we were part of the extended Bathurst family. PS,, the locals are proper nuts but in a really good kind of way

Came with a group of 8 ladies quite a strange experience, we were asked to pre order as they were so busy, this wasn't a problem but it was difficult to establish which menu was actually OK to use off the website as the menu we used was apparently not available so it needed several phone calls to get the order right and we could use the original menu but not with the drinks included - as on the menu - as it was Christmas, all confusing. We actually turned out to be the only people eating in the bar area, not sure if there was another eating area but staff didn't seem too busy. Food was very nice, although soup & half a slice of Welsh rarebit pricey at £11 , Ham egg & chips very good and worth the price. Mini deserts with coffee very nice We all enjoyed the lunch but probably wouldn't rush back

My wife and I visited after a nice long Sunday walk and unfortunately left rather disappointed. To start with the positives, the pints were lovely and the setting is beautiful, really nice spot by the river. Sunday roast price point is pretty high which I'm happy to pay if the food reflects that, but sadly it didn't. The Yorkshires and Roasties were almost certainly from the freezer, and I'm sure the gravy was instant. I also got the end cut of the beef which was really tough and fatty and certainly shouldn't have been served, although my wife's slices were slightly better (but not fantastic). There was no chicken available at ~2pm on a Sunday in a seemingly quiet pub (for peak Sunday time), just something to bear in mind. And veg was very basic - sugar snap peas, carrots and cabbage only. Also, sad to say the service is very poor considering the type of hospitality they're trying to provide, they didn't understand that beef wasn't dairy (in terms of an allergy, my wife can't eat milk/cheese etc.) and as already alluded to in another review, very little conversations / warmth from employees. Overall, I was very excited to visit the Bathurst Arms and I'm a big supporter of local pubs, but felt very underwhelmed when I left. Therefore, I won't be returning for food unfortunately :-(

A beautiful pub in gorgeous surroundings, first time visiting since the new management. Food: Very good, although the Yorkshire pudding was from the freezer which is very disappointing, considering the price point of the menu, it’s fairly expensive. (18.95 pork/chicken 20.50 beef) The roast potatoes were excellent and I would advise ordering the side of potatoes for an extra go! Service: This is a tricky one, although nothing wrong with the service and everyone being attentive, some very young girls working who looked on edge and not very chatty even when trying to engage with them in conversation. Atmosphere: Quintessential British pub! Dog friendly, alright grub and a decent pint! Locals (I assume!) friendly!

A lovely old country pub, easy to find on the Cheltenham Road just a few miles north of Cirencester. it does have reasonable car parking, but we went early Thursday evening on a warm day and the car park was absolutely full (as was the beer garden). You can park on the surrounding lanes, but that's less than ideal. Inside, it was welcoming and the new owner (8 weeks) and staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Katsu Bon-Bons to share as a starter and they were very tasty. This was followed with Chicken and Ham Pie and Chicken Schnitzel. Both appeared to be home-made and both were delicious. Our friends had booked a table at he Bathurst Arms for 7.15 pm on Wednesday 23rd February. Not surprisingly, as it turned out, we were the only diners that evening. The dining area was cold and unwelcoming, the dead woodburning stove being emblematic of the room. We ordered drinks (we discovered later that, shockingly, a glass of white wine had cost over £10) and after they were served the waitress took our food order. The shared starter of crispy belly pork was very good and we were hopeful that our main meals would be similarly good. However, a short while later she returned to inform us that the meals we had ordered from the menu were unavailable. Disappointed, we chose different meals which were very much a second best choice. When they were served, it was very evident that not a lot of expertise had been exercised in their production. The steak and ale pie had a crust on it that a hammer and chisel would have been the most appropriate tool for opening it up and the salad that accompanied two meals (chicken schnitzel) was a gem lettuce sliced in 2 with some dressing poured over it. Not exactly cordon blue. The chicken was dry. At best, the food was edible; just. We thought better of ordering puddings on the basis that they would be equally disappointing so we ordered coffees. After taking our order the waitress returned a while after to tell us that the coffees were unavailable as the coffee machine was not working. Right to the end it seemed the management could not get things right as the waitress was unable to split the bill down the middle for us so one of the party had to pay the total amount. The place appeared to be on the point of closing down. The words 'Marie Celeste' and 'morgue' seemed appropriate to describe our experience. At one point the front door was left open, inviting a biting cold wind to enter making the dining area even colder. One of us went to shut the door in the absence of any staff to do the honours. Indeed, for most of the evening it seemed as if the staff were entirely absent. The waitress did tell us at one point the place was 'between management' We shall not return to discover what this meant.

Stayed in the village and we all met for the first time in 4 years for lunch. The food was average at best and more on the poor side with some dishes being cold and others lacking flavour. Offerings were quite expensive and the portions small. I'd ssum it up on one word - LAME!

Stayed overnight here the night of the Euro 22 finals. Wonderful atmosphere, superb food and each member of staff was excellent. I had seafood starter, sublime leg of octopus included, and we both had roast pork mains. Utterly devine. I had cheeses for dessert, plus great selection of local beers and a reasonable wine collection. Room was excellent too. We would stay here again in an instant

We stayed for 2 nights B&B and chose to dine in on the first night as we were part of a wedding party. Personally I didn't fancy most of what was on offer on the menu so asked if I could simply have the rump steak (the cheapest steak on the menu at £34!) with a few ordinary chips, some mushrooms and maybe a tomato....my wife opted for the pork shoulder burger. My steak arrived looking grey, tired, already sliced and to be honest not very appetising, along with what I initially thought to be four small pieces of halloumi. When I asked about the mushrooms the young waitress went away only to return a short time later to tell me these little squares were the mushrooms. Never seen anything like 'em. Asked about maybe some mustard for the steak and possibly vinegar for the chips (which in fairness were very nice) to be told they don't do mustard and the only have cider vinegar. Bit pretentious but there you go... My wife's pork was way over cooked, very tough, and personally I would have fed it to our dog and hoped he wouldn't break a tooth. Move on to breakfast the following morning. We both opted for the full English. The very charming waitress asked how we would like the eggs...fried, poached or scrambled? Expecting only one egg each we chose fried. When the food came we were presented with a large plate each, with 2 eggs, on top of which was stacked one piece of 4" bacon and a single sausage, alongside 3 halves of button mushrooms (bear in mind that's 3 mushrooms between 2 of us!!) and a tomato that was barely warm. The sausage, like everything else on the plate was overcooked...it fell apart like a dry old piece of badly made haggis and was totally tasteless. The eggs were dry and they too were a sea of unpleasantness. When the waitress collected the plates I was surprised to hear her ask if we preferred the fried or poached egg?? I'm still not sure if we had one of each on our plates..they were both cooked so badly I couldn't tell the difference if if we had. Didn't say anything to her...not her job to cook the stuff. In summary...I could most certainly have cooked everything we ate in those two days to a far higher standard than the guy in the kitchen who calls himself a chef and appears to think it's fine to turn out such dross.

Remembering several previous visits to the Bathurst Arms a few years ago, my wife and I stopped at the Bathurst Arms for a light pub lunch. We were presented with a menu that bore little relationship to any menu encountered elsewhere. It was Indecipherable at prices for which I couldn't see any logic or justification. Far too precious and pretentious.

A last minute booking on a Monday lunchtime, we were greeted warmly by the lady behind the bar. The lunch was superb (the chips are heaven) We had our little rescue dog with us who is a little nervous and the lovely lady who served us was very understanding of this....so kind. We only wish we lived closer but the Daneway is most definitely our go to when visiting Gloucestershire.

We stopped by as a group of 10 children and adults, a welcomed rest after a big walk! On ordering, the gentlemen serving was really helpful with allergies and alternative meals, as they were out of gluten free pasta. It was agreed my son would have a chicken burger with an alternative bun (as it contained egg). I was feeling confident. On serving the food, the lady delivering it brought 2 chicken burgers that looked identical to the table and said 'that's the different one' and promptly left. When she brought the next lot of food, I questioned this as was expecting one bun to be different, her response was very curt and dismissive, as if allergies were an inconvenience to her. My 4 yr old having a life threatening allergy, is not something I take lightly. Eventually, on the 3rd trip back out, once the food was already cold, she confirmed they were identical and both safe, again she was very rude in her tone. I appreciate they were busy, but this is no excuse. Overall the food was good, but I could not relax and enjoy the experience. The lady needs upskilling on her allergy awareness!
