The shepherd's pie was quite pricey at £ 20.00 each quite tasty but not much veg, watch you don't get stung by the service charge they add on at the till but don't even tell you about ! Too late when you look at the receipt back home 40 miles away !

Some very positive great things about the Bathhurst Arms as a food venue, but still some room for improvement. The interior of the pub is much cosier than many pubs in winter, with wood burners, but some steps between rooms which are tricky for elderly or less mobile customers. The staff were friendly & professional and service prompt. We went for Sunday lunch. The food was piping hot & portion size good. We had one vegan in our party, who is willing to eat vegetarian when out to make things simpler. Also one who is gluten intolerant. However, the vegan fared much better, despite prior warning in writing when booking online. The gluten free meal ended up just a standard meal with various components removed, but no offer to reduce the price accordingly. They were not offered a g/f alternative menu. Even the roast potatoes were not g/f! 2 meals accidentally had items removed. Would strongly recommend phoning beforehand if you have any special dietary requirements just to make sure they can meet them. Otherwise a great place and lovely space for outdoor eating by the River Churn in summer. The carpark does need redesigning/ extending though. Would be very difficult to park on a busy summer’s day.

We went for what we thought would be a special lunch . It was very cold as there was no heating. The menu did not show any options for Intolerances. Despite looking for a gluten free menu we were eventually told that the only gluten free options in the lunch menu or the starters was the soup. This was served with no additions. The notice at the bar suggested that help would be given for intolerances and allergies if requested. It was very disappointing.

The food was tasty, although it was only lukewarm when it arrived. The first drinks order only reached the table after the food had arrived. We'd ordered the "festive menu" which the website says comes with shared vegetables for the table, but weren't served. When asked, the server said this was an "optional extra" but there isn't an option to order this on the website. The restaurant had the temerity to automatically include a 10% tip on the bill, which isn't mentioned on their website.

The food was good and staff pleasant. It was great to see the bar area was cosy and bustling but the restaurant area was cold (one of our party had to keep her outdoor coat on throughout the evening). The unheated plates detracted from the high quality of my meal and the lack of decaffeinated coffee was a disappointment.

Food was OK but a salad of just some leaves and a few bits of onion is rather rubbish value for money even as a side salad. What I objected to was having 10% charge added without my consent when I ordered at the bar. Is taking my order at the Bar and bringing my food to the table really worth 10%? And how can I judge if I want to pay this “ optional “ charge if I have to pay in advance of receiving any service? It was not mentioned on the menu that this service charge would be added.

We were staying locally, so it was good to be able to walk to this Inn for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit of a let-down. On the plus side; the waitress was pleasant and helpful, the rose de Provence was delicious and the service was prompt. One dish; roast rump of lamb, was tender, tasty, well cooked and accompanied by a delicious sauce. The beetroot and goat’s cheese tortellini was not a success. The pasta was thick and the thickest part uncooked. It was on the menu as topped with a garlic butter, but came with a chopped tomato sauce that completely disguised the beetroot/ goat’s cheese filling. I ordered it with a dressed green salad. This was a small bowl of spinach with a few slices of radish and no dressing. On asking for dressing, I got a small ramekin of olive oil. It was nice oil, but not a dressing. Asking again for dressing, I was told that was it! So I asked for some lemon and made my own with the oil and salt/ pepper. I then popped all the tomatoes from the pasta on top and had a not bad salad. But what chef thinks oil is dressing? My husband ordered a (quite expensive) glass of cote du Rhône with the lamb. Another disappointment- it had clearly been open for too long and had gone over - left it unfinished. There were apologies from the waitress (thank you), but £75 for such disappointment was a bit much.

From the warm welcome we received upon arrival, to the delicious food we ate, everything about our visit was perfect. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being encroaching (no irritating “How is your meal?” question midway through eating). The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the roast beef dinner was perfection, with the beef cooked just the right side of pink. The vegetables were plentiful, tasty and fresh, and the Yorkshire pud was both squidgy and crisp. We were too full to manage a dessert, but this will not be the last time we visit The Bathurst Arms - we will definitely fit one in next time.

Myself and a friend popped into the Bathurst on the 8th August. I bought a bottle of pinot which I favoured to be not too expensive. I ordered calamari as a starter and my friend had mushrooms on toast. The bottle of wine was £29 which I thought was madness for the taste. The calamari was not pleasant to the point I couldn't finish it and my friends mushroom on toast was one piece of toast. This little lot came to £58 which is day light robbery for what we had. Very disappointing as the pub is a lovely setting and my sister lives in the village but cannot justify these charges!

A very pleasant place to visit, friendly people and service good. In our view,a little overpriced, a ploughman's with a good thick slice of ham but little else small slice of bread no pickle and very small piecec of cheese, for over 13 quid a fish finger sandwich for 10 pounds, very basic no tartar sauce and skin on fries 4 50, drinks 5 50 for a basic beer and 3.35 for an appletiser. Mini cakes and coffees though were nice and ok at 6.50 each. Worth a visit and maybe better off on the main menu rather than lunch menu, you are in a lovely location too and I guess prices reflect the venue..

With a full menu selection and well stocked wine and beer cellar, no need go anywhere else to eat and drink... Lovely outside surrounding to enjoy the warm evenings too. Had a great experience here in the restaurant area. We arrived at 7 and it was completely quiet but soon became fully booked out. The atmosphere was nice, a cozy traditional pub vibe, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our server, for whom I did not take the name (although she was a lady with an indistinct accent) was so so helpful in helping us decide what to have, to put on the fire for us and with answering our questions! Thank you to this lady. Now the food, was exceptional! I can understand now why this has two Rosettes, and I’m surprised this isn’t promoted more because it’s a great achievement. We ended up trying a few different dishes but I only managed to take pictures of the venison ‘big plate’ - which wasn’t very big and you definitely need something with it - which was amazingly tender and full of flavour! I also had the miso stick toffee pudding which was incredibly moist and a delight to eat. Every single thing we had on the menu on top of these were brilliantly cooked and flavourful. Definitely recommend anyone in the area to visit, albeit paying a premium for this quality meal.

Disappointing Sunday roast under the new management at The Bathurst Arms. The roast beef was terrible. The Yorkshire pudding was frozen and not home made. They use wholesale supplier Brake helping pubs to grow sales and maximise profits in a challenging and evolving pub market. I get that but here’s the thing. There are exceptional Sunday Roasts available in the area for roughly the same price using local produce. Just needed to get away from the day to day and chill. Stumbled across the Bathurst Arms with a lucky google search. First impression, ‘wow,’ it’s big baby pink character rich building. Fair to say from the moment we walked through the door until the time we left, we had nothing other than an amazing time. Special thanks to Jasmine and every member of the team who all went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant and stress free as possible. Food was great, you’ve got to try the Korean sesame-fried chicken burger, Asian slaw, skin-on chips, was definitely my go to dish and never disappointed. In fact, every dish we tried was superb. Thanks Gareth you certainly know how to knock up some great food, Chef being the unsung hero operating behind closed doors but your food certainly spoke for itself and it was obvious that you are passionate about what you do. Our room was a good size, bed was really comfortable and was a great place to spend the night. Also fair to say the beer was cracking so hats off to the cellar man, good selection of wines so the Mrs was very happy, at times maybe a little too happy :0) only playing but hey our plan was to chill to get away from the day to day, mission accomplished. My wife and I visited after a nice long Sunday walk and unfortunately left rather disappointed. To start with the positives, the pints were lovely and the setting is beautiful, really nice spot by the river. Sunday roast price point is pretty high which I'm happy to pay if the food reflects that, but sadly it didn't. The Yorkshires and Roasties were almost certainly from the freezer, and I'm sure the gravy was instant. I also got the end cut of the beef which was really tough and fatty and certainly shouldn't have been served, although my wife's slices were slightly better (but not fantastic). There was no chicken available at ~2pm on a Sunday in a seemingly quiet pub (for peak Sunday time), just something to bear in mind. And veg was very basic - sugar snap peas, carrots and cabbage only. Also, sad to say the service is very poor considering the type of hospitality they're trying to provide, they didn't understand that beef wasn't dairy (in terms of an allergy, my wife can't eat milk/cheese etc.) and as already alluded to in another review, very little conversations / warmth from employees. Overall, I was very excited to visit the Bathurst Arms and I'm a big supporter of local pubs, but felt very underwhelmed when I left. Therefore, I won't be returning for food unfortunately :-(

A beautiful pub in gorgeous surroundings, first time visiting since the new management. Food: Very good, although the Yorkshire pudding was from the freezer which is very disappointing, considering the price point of the menu, it’s fairly expensive. (18.95 pork/chicken 20.50 beef) The roast potatoes were excellent and I would advise ordering the side of potatoes for an extra go! Service: This is a tricky one, although nothing wrong with the service and everyone being attentive, some very young girls working who looked on edge and not very chatty even when trying to engage with them in conversation. Atmosphere: Quintessential British pub! Dog friendly, alright grub and a decent pint! Locals (I assume!) friendly!

On our tour of Somerset, Devon & Cornwall the Bathurst Arms was the Highlight! The ideal place to base yourself if you’re exploring the Cotswolds. Comfortable & clean rooms, welcoming staff and great food. The pub is a mix of tourists and friendly locals. Highly recommend! Make sure you explore the local villages on foot or via car. Make sure you take the roads less traveled!

4 lovely meals at lunch time, food was great and the beer was delicious. I had the fish and chips, wasn’t too much of a fan of the minted peas that it came with but the fish was huge and batter was light. Burger looked epic too

At lunchtime, limited food options, many of which were burgers. Outside seating good, by a stream, but very close to an A road. Service was good.

Food was good although drinks and food had to be purchased separately, 2m apart from one another. Service charge for food from the garden menu and ordered at the bar was added by default, ok for me although others in my party commented on it, as you weren't really being waited upon. In a nice, quiet area although garden isn't much to look at.

A lovely old country pub, easy to find on the Cheltenham Road just a few miles north of Cirencester. it does have reasonable car parking, but we went early Thursday evening on a warm day and the car park was absolutely full (as was the beer garden). You can park on the surrounding lanes, but that's less than ideal. Inside, it was welcoming and the new owner (8 weeks) and staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Katsu Bon-Bons to share as a starter and they were very tasty. This was followed with Chicken and Ham Pie and Chicken Schnitzel. Both appeared to be home-made and both were delicious. If we go to area again, we would definitely go back

Decided to visit for lunch to celebrate a birthday. The initial greeting by the young lady behind the bar was very encouraging so we ordered coffee and had a look at the menu. I ordered ham, egg and chips and my husband ordered the fish and chips. We sat down in a pleasant area and the food wasn’t too long in being served. My plate of ham was plentiful and presented with 2 eggs which were nicely cooked, sadly that’s where it all started to go downhill. The ham was very over cooked and difficult to cut, I suspect it had been stored for maybe too long. I mentioned to the young lady that it was tough to which she asked if I would like a steak knife! I was unable to eat my meal as it was just too tough and unappetising. My husbands fish and chips was disappointing and in all honesty it resembled a piece of ready battered fish that had been bought in, rather than freshly battered and cooked fish. The fish was rather thin and dry looking but he did manage to eat the bulk of it, although defeated at the end by an extremely hard piece. The owner came over after I complained and commented that she had eaten some of the ham earlier and that other meals served had been enjoyed, although I don’t recall seeing too many meals being served. We then went to the bar to pay and, after asking, the owner said that my meal wouldn’t be charged for but my husbands would as he had eaten most of it. £25+ for two coffees, a pre prepared fish and chips and an inedible ham and chips…..sadly won’t recommend or return.

Lovely place for traditional English pub food. The drinks were amazing, we got 3 types of English lemonades, food was fresh and not much was left!
