We have been going to Bailiffscourt for many yess as we are local. There has always been a nice informal relaxed atmosphere there which we’ve liked!! But last week when we visited it was less than welcoming! It felt like turning up to someone’s house when not expected!! We came on a lovely sunny day and sat outside. The lunch was delicious but was spoiled by bored shuffling staff with no personality skills! All in all the place seems to have lost its special appeal and unless you’re staying or having a wedding they just don’t seem to be interested. We weren’t even helped with the bill at reception telling us “to go back to we’re we started from!” No smiles! No basic manners for the staff. Unfortunately I’m in no rush to go back or recommend to many friends who come to visit the area!

We went there for lunch for my Mothers 92 birthday. It is not the first time we have been there as my Mother is a local, but even she thinks it will be the last. The food was good but totally spoilt by the attitude of the staff. Starting with some young guy who answered the phone when my sister wanted to check about the table, who has no manners at all, followed by the waiting staff who looked like we were interrupting their day - how dare we. Presumably, they would just prefer us to pay their salary and not turn up at all! Sadly, this is not the first time but definitely the worst and as the management simply has not learnt how to train their staff, it will be the last time. There are lots of nice places in the area, why should we pay to be treated like that? No thank you.

Three ladies lunched there during the “eat out to help out” total lack of signage or staff inside entrance, waited about 8-10 minutes before a male staff member appeared & took us out to the available table in the courtyard, he seated us gave us a menu each took orders delivered food which was fine, only when we wanted to pay & leave the fun started. To cut a long story short, the upshot was they failed to process the discount on the original bill then after consulting the accounts lady who was very busy it took three weeks to process a £30.00 refund!!! Totally amazing considering this is an expensive place & has always in the past been on the top of their game.

I’ve had a lot better and a lot worse….. the restaurant is large open and clean, the staff are friendly, but service is slow. The food was a small portion and was a little inconsistent in the way it was cooked…. Sausages both totally different, one burnt and the other a little under (but ok to eat) Toast was a little soggy. Mushroom was cold and very watery. Egg a little rubbery. Beans OK (but you can’t really get beans wrong) Bacon good. Hashbrowns over cooked. For the price and other available places locally, I’d only recommend if you are already in Sainsbury’s, don’t make a special trip. Better local options are Spoons and Tesco.

We ordered two large pizzas including a half and half. When delivered, the one half of the order was wrong. We called the store, was told a replacement would be made and sent out, but we had to keep the 'wrong half' to return to the delivery driver. Half an hour later we called again to be told our pizza was with the driver for delivery. By this time everyone else other than my partner had eaten...she was still waiting. Half an hour later we called again to be told it was still out with the driver. I asked if we could eat the 'wrong half' and was told no. The guy on the phone couldn't have cared less. He blamed it on new staff and actually said 'why are you blaming me, you do know I'm not actually Papa John'! The driver arrived as we were on the phone an hour and 15 minutes after the original delivery. And he didn't even want the 'wrong half' back!! Shame as it's great pizza when they get it right but the service and urgency to put mistakes right is lousy.

Today 4/12/23 The rating of 2 stars is for the food/cafe The rating I would give to the manager who resolved my issues is 5 stars……read on to hear the full story I order 3 all day breakfasts and some sides , we had to wait a bit of time for them to come also I had to clear the table myself from the last customer , also the table hadn’t been wiped over . The Breakfasts arrived , they were cold to Luke warm , we had a side order of chips they were a bit warmer. Nobody came to check after they had been served to the table to see if we were satisfied with the food. When I complained the response from the people in the cafe wasn’t great saying “we should have said at the time” rather than saying “I am sorry about this” …. . I asked to see a manager as I wasn’t overly impressed with the cafe staffs limp response . The came over to the table from the store. I explained the issues and also highlighted out while I was there another customer had complained about her lunch being at best warm when it’s supposed to be hot . I have since seen other complaints about the food being cold to luke warm when served on trip advisor. The manager who had come to the table to deal with our issues was a gentleman called Frazer can I say that he was the shining light. Frazer introduced himself and dealt with the complaint with the upmost professionalism and confidence and I would say that he is a credit to the store and a credit to the Morrisons brand. It would be great if someone possibly his Store Manager or Area Manager or Head Office could recognise him in some way as he turned a customer (me) who would have left the store as a detractor to a customer who left the store as promoter of the Morrison brand. Well done Frazer ! I am sure you will have a very successful career with Morrisons and I suspect you must be a very valued member of the management team at this store/Morrisons.
