Sainsbury's in Arun

I’ve had a lot better and a lot worse….. the restaurant is large open and clean, the staff are friendly, but service is slow. The food was a small portion and was a little inconsistent in the way it was cooked…. Sausages both totally different, one burnt and the other a little under (but ok to eat) Toast was a little soggy. Mushroom was cold and very watery. Egg a little rubbery. Beans OK (but you can’t really get beans wrong) Bacon good. Hashbrowns over cooked. For the price and other available places locally, I’d only recommend if you are already in Sainsbury’s, don’t make a special trip. Better local options are Spoons and Tesco.

Went for breakfast was told short staffed and food would be 45 mins. When arrived bacon was hard and the egg looked like it was cooked an hour prior very disappointing

I know the staff are young but how can you get a breakfast so consistently wrong. After several chances the eggs are under cooked (snotty) , the mushroom warm and raw, tomato warm and raw, bacon not cooked properly and the toast was 2 slices of warm bread. Utterly appalling.

Hadn't eaten there for a while but was shocked how appalling it was. Asked if I could have a jacket potato and the response was, I doubt it. Came back from kitchen and told no potatoes. Asked for avocado and egg on toast. You needed a magnifying glass to find the avocado. Children playing with a football in the restaurant. Nearly landed in one woman's plate. Staff did not intervene. Will never go back or recommend.

On visit there heard a couple complain on seen mice in isle where cereals storied & bread area said staff seemed to busy running around ignoring one’s presence so left the store including myself.

Looking forward to ham egg and chips as previously had it, and how can you get that wrong? The chips were not freshly cooked, they were dry hard and burnt. The fried eggs were hard and the ham was out of a packet. So dissapointing as have had many times before and was well worth it. The chap that served us was polite and efficient which was the only positive.

Not been here for sometime, so thought I’d give it another shot. The food is basic and not very appetising. Drinks are over priced. A flat white coffee is £3.10 for a small cup. Tables and cutlery were dirty and covered in food. Very dissatisfied with the whole experience. Don’t think I will be returning again in the near future.

We have been loyal customers for years! Mobility scooters poorly maintained, electrical sockets for recharging cracked! Have reported it to Head Office numerous times, nothing done! This is discrimination against disabled people!

Very slow service in the cafe. Only one (very harassed lady) doing everything. Limited menu and sandwich choices. You're really missing an opportunity here sainsbury's, knowing what the profit can be on a well run cafe /restaurant!

Had fish and chips fish was over cooked and hard could not eat chips were cold peas were fine

Hair in my pizza! Service was OK, but the pizza not. Cheese hard and hair found near the crust. Drinks were nice though.

Extremely helpful with our Grandchildren, split pancakes onto two plates.. Our meals were hot & tasty, Great service.. Happy Children 👍🏻

I do the click and collect shopping. Despite choosing loose vegetables because I’m trying to cut down on my plastic usage, the staff make the decision to shove them in plastic bags. Last month I phoned the customer services and complained. I was assured that the feedback would get through to the right manager, and that the relevant member of staff would be spoken to. Then today I turned up and the same thing happened. The young boy (who was very nice and apologetic) serving me, remembered me from before and said he had also written a note not to put my vegetables in a plastic bag. When are these supermarkets and staff going to wake up to the amount of plastic waste they are producing?! It drives me mad….

Don’t bother ! Appalling place , waited 30 mins for scrambled eggs ( only person in cafe ) dirty as well

Terrible cafe! Firstly it’s crazy expensive! We arrived and it was quiet yet tables dirty. Trays all soaking wet with food still smeared on them, shows how much the staff care really!

Good big store lots of products. The cooked chicken counter seems to close early.

Ordered baked potato with tunaand sweetcorn with side salad. Potato had been overcooked initially and was hard to cut but was cold after being reheated. Quite small and the side salad was just salad leaves, thrown into the bowl the potato was served in. Very disappointing food and presentation.

Pleasant staff, good food and fair prices.

Big room, very high roof.. perfect place to sit and enjoy your coffee or food ... The chips that I bought are one of the softest and best chips.. my little one loved eating it. Lovely view outside . Lovely staff.

Come for a breakfast every week never had a problem clean and tidy staff always pleasant

Unpleasant staff, long wait for a portion of chips which turned out to be tiny comparing to other Sainsbury’s cafes. Half way through eating chips found a short, gray, wavy hair 🤮scones stale, cafe is messy no napkins and dirty cutlery. Will not visit again.

Safe and not crowded...shelves could use stocking up but other wise a good experience and decent prices.

went here today, breakfast, only one hash brown , so we couldnt both have one, 25 mins wait even though almost empty, (short staffed!) all but the sausages was cold, they were brurnt one side and pale the other, egg not cooked properly, slimy bits, NEVER AGAIN

This was my second visit to the cafe in a month and both times the breakfast came cold, it was horrible. The cafe has gone down hill.

If you want to pop in for a quick snack, be served by young "Saturday Staff" who obviously have no idea, with little or no effective supervision and then wait almost an hour for your food then this is the place to go. When the food finally arrived it was only luke warm!And we weren't the only ones who waited far too long, at least one couple demanded a refund.No surprise the Cafe was only half full on a Saturday Lunchtime.

Been here before and service has always been bad, but the food is normally good. However I went with my mum and sister, the server was rude from the start whilst taking our order. We then waited around 10 minutes for 2 coffees, when it was not busy at all. We tried to find a clean table to sit at, however this was impossible as every single table was disgusting. So we asked for someone to come and wipe one for us, to which the girl rolled her eyes and said she'll send someone over. 10 minutes later the manager comes over saying ' i've been summoned to wipe your table'. Summoned? No thats part of running a decent and hygienic cafe, he walks off after barely cleaning our table. 35 minutes later our food comes out, the lasagna was cold and the omelettes were also cold and tastless. The chips were burnt and tasted as if they had been heated up in the microwave, but because I am 34 weeks pregnant and suffering from very low blood pressure I had to eat something. So I picked at it, we then asked to speak to the manager. After telling him the problem he said the chips arent burnt, and the food couldnt possibly be cold. He also said we had eaten some of it and should have complained straight away, which we would have done if every single member of staff werent in the kitchen talking. After refusing to refund us the £20 we went to leave, however the manager and staff were then stood behind the till slagging us off. So my sister said that we could hear them, to which they looked at us and laughed. As we walked off the manager continued to talk to his members of staff, saying how we had caused a scene over nothing. We are still trying to get hold of someone higher to get our money back, and to put a formal complaint in due to how we were treated. I hope no one I know goes in there and wastes their money, as you will be met with the most obnoxious bunch of staff ever. The food is not worth the money, better food at the morrisons cafe. Also we spoke to sainsburys manager who also wasn't impressed with how the cafe manager had acted, however he didnt seem surprised to get the complaint. So please everyone avoid the cafe in sainsburys rustington.

Cold coffee,cold hot chocolate, cold toasted sandwiches, customer service bad asked for another hot chocolate by the time that was made food was cold it was banged down on the counter I took a sip was colder than the first one I complained again and was told it cannot be cold to which I replied for the girl to try it I walked away as my husbands waiting ages for his coffee and food and his coffee was cold the toasties were only toasted on one side and were cold.All this and cold air blowing from the ceiling and £11-55, what I saved on shopping was wasted on lunch not amused

Visited today with my daughter half the menu not available no cutlery and unbelievable to be told no straws for the frappe unbelievable because this restaurant is located in Sainsbury's and to have to buy your own straw in the store to use in the cafe is truly unbelievable!The staff were apologetic but managenent is at fault here as half menu not available during the lunch period is not ideal. The food was as expected so no observation to make there. The coffee was good.The actual store always has empty shelves very few staff and the trolleys are left all over the car park although why people can't put them back in the correct place astounds me - the same people who I suspect would moan if they came back to their vehicle to find a waywood trolly saying hello to their paintworkNot sure what has happened in past few months but this store definitely needs taking in hand.

Plenty of staff but no organisation. Dirty cups and saucers left in the clean serving area. No attempt being made to clean it up .Young girl preparing drinks was making a real mess. No sign of any manager helping or sorting issues. No cutlery or plates to serve cakes onto. This doesn't reflect well on Sainsburys franchised or not. Sort it out.I suggest staff visit Mark's and Spencer's cafe to see how cafe should be run!

I went to the Sainsbury's in Rustington.I saw an advert for cakes and Orange and Cranberry.I asked and was told none.No reason or anything.Not sure why but the service does not seem very good.Aldo serviettes were a roll of paper!They had none?Not impressed.Also not the tastiest food for lunch.Just my opinion.Ghe food in Sainsburys to buy in the supermarket is not the same in the cafeteria.Also trays need to be collected and dealt with?Not very professional seeing trays on tables and not collected.I had no space to put my tray so put it on the top rack as all the trays were full.Surely staff need to collect and wash them.

Weekly shop done 6th November. This is my favourite supermarket, great undercover free parking, lovely airy and huge supermarket with great choices including clothes and homeward as well as groceries. Pleasant attentive staff with many additional features such as Specsavers etc.

The cafe is always running out of food . And staff are Moody .The main part of the store .To many empty shelves.But the only good thing about the store is the parking is under cover.So I only go their if it's raining

Just came in to find they have changed the seating arrangements, s couple of high tables, and stool's, but a lot of the low tables , great for coffee perhaps , but if u r eating a meal, when really busy there will be nowhere to eat yr meal properly , don't like itv

I visited for coffee and cake on a quiet Saturday afternoon. There was just one person behind the counter and she was taking orders, dealing with the till and serving the coffee. Unfortunately this caused a long wait. While I was waiting for my coffee she served coffee to the people behind me in the queue and just left me standing there - even they were embarrassed! I had paid extra for whipped cream but it didn't happen and I was too fed up to question it. My latte was warm rather than hot and the icing on the cake, so to speak, - my cake was stale!

This restaurant has really gone down hill, I was told it didnt belong to Sainsburys anymore but it is franchised. The service the last 4 weeks has been dreadful, i asked an employee to get the manager down but she said they keep asking her to come down to the restaurant but she refuses.

Went to Sainsbury’s cafe in Rustington today for breakfast as we were passing that way did wonder why it wasn’t that busy when breakfast finally arrived I could understand why it wasn’t busy. My husband had cooked breakfast he said it wasn’t great the scrambled egg that you have to pay extra for was luke warm bacon the same but he was hungry so just ate it . I ordered the porridge with fruit compote well I can honestly say I’ve never been served porridge like it not only was it barely warm it wasn’t even cooked . I told the server who did offer to get me another another bowl but the first one took forever so I declined he sad I’ll get you a refund which he did but nobody was bothered really over the fact they are serving up dreadful meals are Sainsbury’s doing so well that customers no longer matter. Will be last time that we’ll ever eat there.

Shockingly slow service. Miserable staff, and when the porridge finally arrived it was luke warm and like an oat cake. Asked the helpful chap for some milk. It never came so I went back to fight through the queue to ask for some cold milk.

This cafe always seems to have too few staff! Staff took my order then I waited 20 minutes for a breakfast omelette only to be told there were no eggs!

Went in for a coffee, queued for 20 minutes, saw 3 people leave, really long queue and one lad behind the counter doing everything ( who was doing the absolute best he could) no management support and when I asked could he not get help from colleagues he said there wasn't anyone. Why are the managers not down there helping and why has he been left to deal with people on his own? Sort yourself out sainsbury, you make massive profits, invest in more staff.

Really terrible service and time to wait for food.

Awful!! Got to sainsburys to do our shopping and have some breakfast. When we got to the counter to order , the first thing we were told was, 'If you're ordering food it will take 45 minutes' the thing is

Went with my elderly parents. Place was filthy with piled high dirty tables...self clear cafe but nowhere to put trays. Trays on floor,food on floor. Dirty area where food is prepared with old dry food on boards, knives. Food for sale was head high and uncovered. Lots of flies. Just dirty !!!

Waited nearly an hour for a breakfast. The cafe wasn't overly busy. Breakfast wasn't that great. Waste of time.

Popped in for a quick breakfast. On ordering my breakfast I did make a specific request, this is that the toast which comes with the breakfast was put on a separate plate. Having had a Sainsbury breakfast a few times in the past, they always insist on laying the toast on top of the beans making it soggy. I know this is personal to me but I hate soggy toast soaked in bean juice (Im not sure how many people out there would actually like this but each to their own).

Never get what you order , has happened before ,order big breakfast and get served up short , ie no hash browns , one sausage , and food not even average ,

Used to be good food & reasonably priced. Has gone slowly downhill over a number of months. Quality of food & waiting time is an absolute joke.

Went for meal, waited over half an hour for food that was cold. Ordered bigger breakfast, bacon cold, beans cold, fried eggs all dried up. Fish and chips, put garden peas on when mushy peas had been ordered, fish was hard on the bottom and barely warm, 2x chicken nugget kids meas ordered, cane out with peas instead of beans, 3 chicken nuggets and about 7 chips on plate, absolutely diabolical. Spoke to manager who seemed disinterested, promised drinks as some sort of compensation, waited ages for those too, was told someone would bring them over, but ended up collecting them ourselves.

Disgusting service... waited 40mins for a tea cake and a bacon sandwich.. all of which was cold... no manager in cafe.. had to ask a waitress about the problem.. who then couldnt find the order.. i was then told to go to customer srvice for a refund. If you cannot fulfill peoples orders dont keep taking them as this makes the problem worse... AWEFUL CAFE...

Popped in for a quick coffee and the hot cross bun, which was on offer. I was heading to the garage to get car service so just enough time to get a paper and have a bit of breakfast. The photo of the hot cross bun, nicely toasted brown, with butter melting into it got the juices going. It turned up warm but not toasted and no butter. Sent it back, it returned looking a bit better, still no butter. After this was requested it was handed over, rock hard having just come out of cold storage. Impossible to spread. So another 5 minute were spent warming the butter enough to enable it to be spread. Something so simple seemed to take forever and ruined the experience.

Visited for tea as a treat for our 3yr old son. Ordered kids fishfinger and chips which turned up over done and dry and also somehow lukewarm. Vegetable Lasagne turned up upside down and lukewarm also chips cold. Sweet potato katsu curry, overcooked sweet potato not enough sauce and also lukewarm. Restaurant (used in the loosest term) was not busy yet took took 35mins to arrive. Will not visit again ever!

45 minutes wait for two breakfasts and that’s only because we chased it up. The young men serving were polite and I felt sorry for them as it’s not their fault the system doesn’t work. Expected better of Sainsbury’s.

Usual queues with 1 person serving. Apple turnover with no apple inside, breakfast muffin was stale. Ripped seating, dirty tables and cutlery. No vibe. Staff need a spruce up. Re furb needed and happier staff required.

We used to love eating here as it was clean and the food was freshly cooked and tasty. But it is now the opposite. The seats are falling apart, the floor/surfaces/tables are filthy and the food very poor. The sweet potato fries we ordered today were burnt and even the toastie was inedible.

Always shopped at Sainsbury but restaurant not so good. Not enough staff to clear tables x food and coffee not very hot. Some staff need more training but ok to meet friends but nothing much else.

We visited the cafe this morning. There was a long queue of people waiting to collect their drinks after ordering their food. Not enough staff managing the drinks. Eventually our pot of tea was ready to collect, but it had sat there for so long, it was stewed and Luke warm. Asked for a replacement, but were given no cups or saucers.

The usual drinks, snacks and quick meals are available but, beware, the shopping opportunities in the store are ENORMOUS!

Went today to Rustington store , have a very bad service from the pay point , was served by Liz , at the till with sell cigarettes and scratch cards , essentially treat with hello , or anything friendly , request the bag , with was frow on the till , with busy hands stragled to pack , she wasent offer any help , when I was paying it wasent please or again polite manners , after I mention that and say I will live a rewiev , she says Go ahead , so will I come again and spend money there ? I don't think so , you should concentrate on your staff bad behavior , if I wasent busy I may pop over and see the manager , hope you will do something about it , we all can have a bad day , but what your staff should understand , that they should live they problem at home , I don't need that when I'm shopping . Thank you

It is a good cafe in the Sainsbury's store. Very convenient, very good value and reasonable quality food

You’d expect Sainsbury’s to be a bit higher standard than other supermarkets but not so - the tables are minging with stains, crumbs, spills etc. The teapots are all stained and skanky. I wouldn’t mind but drinking fruit tea out of a mud coloured (was white) pot just isn’t attractive. The cutlery is sticky. It’s really off-putting before your foods even arrived. Food was ok though and staff friendly but it needs another pair of hands on deck to maintain a constant standard of cleanliness out front. It’s waaaaay below the standard we all expect from Sainsbury’s

Very large Sainsbury's conveniently located on the A259. Excellent large undercover car park. Very well stocked and all the usual services. Helpful staff.

Popped in for a Coffee! Although the staff were very friendly the state of the tables were filthy. Not enough staff for the amount of customers. I spoke to the manager and got a very cold and abrupt apology. Never going back!

We had fish and chips for lunch. Serving is big, for a light eater. Food is OK. There is ample space.

A very long queue with only 1 server at peak time. Not good. 20 minute wait for food on top of this wait. Tables dirty, cutlery not clean. Going downhill. New management please. Food when it arrived was tasty. Recommend the fish and chips but staff look very unhappy.

This is no reflection on how hard the staff work.

Wanted something hot on such a cold day and ordered a baked potato with coronation chicken. Waited a while for it to come and it was one of several other orders on the tray and was cold - had obviously sat on the side for some time before being served.

I called in mid-afternoon for tea and cake. There wasn’t a long queue and I only waited about five minutes to reach the counter.

After a frustratingly slow queue to order, the food came quickly and was to a good standard. If people could decide what they want to eat before reaching the checkout service would be much quicker!

Slow service and too many dirty tables, not very well organised. This all points to poor management.

Understaffed and very slow which, for a Saturday morning, is poor. Waited 10 mins to be served and a further 20 mins for what should have been an easy order. Yes, it's cheap, but you get what you pay for. I actually feel that the dry offering of salmon and scrambled eggs that found its way to me was over-priced and I should have stuck with something less fancy. The Americano coffee was also very watery with little taste. Will stick to the shop in future and avoid the cafe

Visited today with partner and kids - never again! Where to start?

We visited the cafe, and yes admittedly it was just after the lunchtime rush. Yet again, many items were sold out. I counted 5 from the mains. I have complained before about their levels of stock counts and having enough to meet demand. So, our choices were sold out so had to opt for the bigger breakfast. I asked a simple question and something most cafes have no issue with. I asked whether the eggs could be swapped for maybe another sausage or a piece of bacon. The server was friendly but said “No, we have stopped doing that now”. Why? No reason could be given. Poor.

Came here for a drink at 4pm on a Friday afternoon, there were 2 people in front of us and two members of staff out the front serving. It was painfully slow, after 10 minutes of waiting the man in front left after enquiring why all the other staff were hiding out the back! 10 seconds after he left, all the other staff came out of the kitchen and left so obviously near the end of their shifts and were eager to go home! The 2 lads serving were polite but couldn't answer why there was such a long wait, we ordered a hot chocolate and 2 milkshakes which we were told would be bought over to us. The hot choc came out, the milkshakes 15 mins after, no apology. So we didnt even drink together in the end. So glad we didn't order food and judging by the amount left on the plates on the dirty tables a lot of people felt the same. Sainsburys need to update this service point with self service machines for drinks to avoid this lengthy palava in future! Also the cutlery is filthy.

Often start our Sunday morning with breakfast here. Always good quality & good value. Although the cafe can appear very busy at times it never takes long for your breakfast to arrive. Better than any other supermarket breakfast in the area.

On the A259, close to Rustington village, adjacent to some other large stores.

I do like Sainsburys, all departments, and this one at Rustington is a lovely new store ... excellent choices and outstanding service from a certain two ladies one on customer services and another on mens clothing (you know who you were) ... a credit to the store.

Quick pop in for a few bits used the self check out was in and out in 10 minutes. plenty of under cover parking !

Lots of choice, good service, excellent food, very clean and a very good breakfast. Lots of room with large windows to look out of.

My wife and I regularly have breakfast at Sainsburys Rustington. The value for money cannot be beaten, the sausages taste as if they are from a premium butchers, and if you visit early on a Saturday you will enjoy the excellent service of Issi and Alex

Love our local Sainsbury's but please give us a bit of change product wise and not just the scented candles which get worse each time the supplier is changed every 12 months.

I've called in for breakfast a few times. There's always a queue but it moves quite quickly and there is plenty of seating. I last visited on Saturday - pleasant staff, not long to wait in the queue and to get my coffee and my breakfast arrived about five minutes later. My breakfast was hot and tasty. Everywhere was clean but the stacking area for trays was full - I had to take my tray back to my table and leave it as there wasn't a spare rack.

No fills , shoppermarket cafe .

A lot of willing staff with no apparent management. Very busy so must be worth finding a decent manager.

Great for shopping with my grandson he loves to eat in there restaurant for a treat after pick up from school the staff are willing to have little ones doing what they want

Had a lunch whilst in the Sainsbury Cafe. It was very busy and service a bit slow. The food we had was baked potato with cheese and coleslaw which was OK

I have found this Sainsburys cafe very much hit and miss. The queue at 2.15pm was way too long, a good 20 minute wait with only 1 member of staff serving. Lots of tables not cleared, and general clutter and mess behind the till area. We had 3 mains and drinks which for £20 was good value.

Visited rustington Sainsburys today and decided to visit the cafe, the place was packed .

Lasagne was totally tasteless and contained mainly pasta and bechamel and maximum of a teaspoon of mince. Plate was warm so salad garnish was wilted and bland without a dressing .

A very busy restaurant above the large superstore, but perfect for a lovely cuppa, friendly staff and fresh food!

my pet hate - being told things are so poular and that's whey theya r sold out - pretty common for good quality veggie dishes as they are always more popular than anticipated! any way we often tag a meal onto a food shop here, kids eat well on the small sized pasta dishes ( perfect for them) and the veggie chilli on a jkt spud is good value for a quick meal. it can all be a little hectic, tables often not cleared and cleaned which is a shame and lets it down a bit, counter service is pretty efficient and prices are decent for lunchtime family meal. ( my parents wont go there saying since the new build it is terribly noisy - high ceiling to blame I think)

Large seating area. Excellent flat white coffee. Vast selection of snacks and main meals. The Cod and chips is excellent and good value. The staff are polite and helpful. Recommended.

I've only had coffee and a muffin there but it's busy, and people seem to enjoy the food. Quite a reasonable menu with all the old favourites.

The under store car park is a big attraction in bad or even hot weather, escalator and good big lifts to the store which is always well stocked.

Sainsbury now do a very good breakfast menu not a huge choice but what there is a very good the full English breakfast will certainly fill you up or have a bacon sandwich on doorstep bread a great start to the day before you start the shopping.

very nice basic food if you want a quick meal when you are shopping also great for a coffee and meeting up with friends
