Restaurant 1779 in Telford and Wrekin

Dining at Restaurant 1779 has once again proven to be a delightful experience, thanks to the impeccable service from Gracie. Every visit feels like a reunion with an old friend, and of course, all the staff there are very friendly and helpful. From the moment I arrived, Gracie’s cheerful demeanor and effortless hospitality made me feel completely at ease. She has an incredible ability to balance attentiveness and discretion, ensuring every need is met without ever feeling rushed or overlooked and she always remember what I like which is amazing! She can always give you a feeling of pleasant and energetic! Thank you, Gracie, for making every visit to Restaurant 1779 a special memory. It’s always a pleasure to be served by someone who clearly takes so much pride in what they do. I look forward to returning again soon!

I’m here right now. Food so far is good but not allowed the freedom of choice. Asked for a regular coke/pepsi due to an allergy to sweeteners. Was given a DIET Pepsi and told they don’t sell regular drinks!! WTF!

I went to the 1779 restaurant this evening and the food was excellent. The service by Robbie and Lauren was very welcoming and made us feel comfortable, always making sure we had everything we needed and happy to help. Overall an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend and will be going back!

We had a great experience celebrating an anniversary here. Had an amazing 3 course meal served by a number of friendly staff! Would definitely recommend

My wife and I stayed the night of 1st March. The restaurant only had 12 customers in. My wifes starter was cold, mine was fine. We ordered a duck dish and a ratatoulie fusilli. We waited quite a long time and whilst doing so overheard 2 other tables complaining about the slowness and quality of the food. Eventually our food arrived and the duck was delicious, however, the ratatoulie was disgraceful. A serving dish sized portion of pasta covered in what appeared to be tomato puree with some vegetables mixed in. Half a dozen vine tomatoes placed on top. Apparently there was only one person on duty in the kitchen. The two waiting staff did a stirling job and Matt, our waiter, in particular did a great job pacifying a couple of irate customers. He remained professional and charming throughout. If the food was as good as Matt and the waitress then it would get 5 stars. He was gracious enough to give us a discount on our wine.

Saturday evening meal as part of a weekend golf and spa break. My only criticism would be the limited choice on menu lacks imagination and choices. Feta and watermelon starter was 3 small cubes of each, come on guys something more substantial please! Rump steaks were all good quality and decent sizes by contrast with loads of chips. Service was very friendly and efficient despite being busy.

We had two excellent dinners here on our golf break. The prices are quite high on the main menu but our allowance of £28 each was enough for two expensive courses or three cheaper courses. The quality of food was excellent and the portion sizes were very generous.

I had breakfast here two mornings when I was staying. Sunday was poor with many things unavailable. Monday was fine as less busy. In the evening I only had the lite bites as did not need a full meal. I did not find the menu very interesting for dinner.

The service and helpfulness by the staff was second to none; so well done particularly to the breakfast crew who were just great. Thank you. The quality of food and value for this stay was very good. Would come again

Supongo que es bastante fácil criticar y quejarse de esto y eso, pero no es tan fácil de alabanza por un trabajo bien hecho de sombreros para todos ustedes. . Tanto agradecemos todo el trabajo que haces y especialmente la presentación, calidad y entrega.

English Breakfast dissapointing, bacon dry and hard eggs sloppy. Generally cold. Coffee was nice and hot. Very quiet so seated quickly. Evening meal poor steak on first night nice second night dry chewy not cooked as asked oatmeal apple pudding hard topping couldn't eat it.

Visitamos hoy aquí como un té de la tarde para mi sorpresa el 80 de julio. nan La bienvenida fue genial, la mesa estaba puesta todo listo y encantador para cuando llegamos allí. El camarero era rápido con los pedidos de bebidas y la comida también era trajo rápidamente. Los sandwiches y pasteles eran preciosas y sabrosas y había suficiente para los 6 de nosotros, no mucho y no demasiado poco. Las vistas eran preciosas desde nuestra mesa en el restaurante y el ambiente era agradable. Sin duda nos alojaremos allí de nuevo.

Lovely staff in the restaurant, very welcoming and friendly, sat us at our table and brought our food very quickly. I had the duck and my friend, the half of chicken (which was enormous!) very nice food, in a lovely restaurant overlooking the Shropshire countryside.

Food was really good the staff very polite and could not do enough for you a very enjoyable meal. Would definitely go again.

Depsite a large wedding on the Saturday night/Sunday Morning the food was delicious and the service impeccable.

Beautifully presented and delicious! Healthy options also available which taste wonderful!. I had beetroot salad to start and sea bass as my main which was delicious. My partner had the rib eye steak which he said was excellent.

I felt the portions of food to small for the large amount of money. It was very tasty, but I expect you are supposed to have 3/4 courses which is then expensive

Restaurant area can be noisy if groups of golfers are staying. The service and food where generally good.

The spa as usual was great. Other than the female changing rooms being horrendously busy and too few lockers! Could barely move. Disappointed. Maybe because it's half term but still there were few children. The service and food (Tea for 2 and delicious scones) received in this restaurant was by far much better than previous visits - thanks to Robert and his other male colleague. There was prompt service with a smile and appropriate humour and chatter which was great. Vast improvement. Well done.

There is a decent selection of food on the menu, albeit not very imaginative. The view from the restaurant is lovely countryside and all of the staff were courteous and helpful.

Good food, very efficient and pleasant staff. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and well cooked although cold plates did not help to keep it hot. Plenty of choice of cereals, juices,fruit etc.My only real complaint is common to all hotels, why do they all have toasters which are totally inefficient at which you have to stand at for 5 minutes before its ready! Quite a good choice on the evening set menu with beautifully cooked and presented food with all members of staff being totally efficient and pleasant

The evening menu was not extensive but okay, but portions a little tight for the price anddrinks were wine very pricey but no competition is why the prices are steep. The restuarant does an okay breakfast and the staff are friendly enough, and the view is good during the daytime.

The menu was not what was advertised on their web page. It said choose from 3 menu's but there was only 1. a few elements from all the menu's were there but it was a shame. The chooses were fairly basic and could have been better. The mushroom soup was very tepid and looked as though it had split. Had Cod, Chips and Peas on the first night, peas needed cooking more. All the food needed more salt & pepper added to it.

the restaurant is an integral part of the hotel. 24 of us stayed at the hotel for a weekend golfing break, and the catering staff easily coped with 24 of us sitting down together. the evening menu had a fairly limited selection of cooked foods, but what we did get was very pleasant. the breakfast consisted of the usual fayre buffet style. no complaints on this presentation.

Great restaurant but need to sort food service out and breakfast times. Can not cope at all when busy. Maybe need more then one chef who looked stressed. People come away and want food to be fresh and quick ish at breakfast time.

Staying at the hotel without a car so eating here was the obvious choice. Man in sauna had prepared us for "below average" hotel food so we weren't expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised as food was good - very good roast beef and a huge burger - and service was friendly although a bit haphazard - they forgot to offer us desserts and a lot of noisy clearing tables and getting them ready for breakfast going on around us. Bill for 2 courses for 2 people with NO alcohol was £50.

We stayed last year and had a fantastic weekend for my friends 30th birthday but decided to go back as a treat n take more friends but after having such a lovely time this year in the spa we went down to dinner and had a not so good experience!! Dinner was rushed through and the service was terrible and after my friend found something in her potato she complained and no one in the restaurant wanted to take responsibility for the problem and was passed pillow to post with no satisfactory outcome!!! I would highly recommend the spa but steer clear of the restaurant for dinner!! Lunch and breakfast was very nice though so maybe head off to a nearby pub for dinner as we probably will next time
