I was a very close friend of Lisa's. She said I was dark after I helped her clear her home of all darkness. I use to do healing with her and helped her on many levels. Be careful of her as she doesn't care she is fake. She pretends to be your friend and manipulates you. Do not trust her!!!! She worked for another place at holistic therapies in Birmingham and claimed they were dark!!!! I'm not the first or last!!!! BE CAREFUL OF LISA!!! I must warn you all as therapists are meant to be trustworthy, Lisa is far from it!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL OF HER AND DO NOT ALLOW HER IN YOUR PERSONAL SPACE!!!

I've never had an Indian Head Massage before but checked the FHT register to see who was local and reached out to Bee. Bee responded very swiftly to my queries and gave me all the information I need about what to expect. The room was clean, tidy and welcoming and Bee is really friendly. The treatment was amazing - all the techniques used we each as equally tension releasing, relaxing and refreshing! Bee checked how firm I wanted pressure before we began and it was on point through out. Highly recommend Bee and Indian Head Massages!

Absolutely the best taster menu for many miles - every course a delight. Their retirement will leave a gap in the Shrewsbury market... will anyone be good enough to fill it I wonder?

Another dinner; another surprise! 6 different excellent courses all expertly cooked and presented. Since the restaurant will be closing shortly (for a well-earned retirement!) I can divulge what I remember of the wonderful dinner. Starting with a trio of surprises on a tiny plate we moved onto fish - halibut topped with smoked salmon in a hot dill sauce. Then a sorbet refresher comprising two duets of sorbets and we had to guess their tastes - and got every one wrong! Moving onto tiny lamb chops with a miniature shepherd's pie on a base of roasted vegetables. Pudding consisted of a trio of mouth-watering concoctions before finally arriving at the English cheese course. We had a half-bottle each of red and white Bordeaux, so that we could match each course and finished with our usual americanos with hot milk. Our dinner lasted 3 hours in an elegant Georgian room, making our visit a real experience. We shall miss Renaissance and wish the retirees all the very best for their new life.

We have been 3 times before and it’s always been exemplary, last night was no different. Set menu 6 courses with excellent service and food. As ever, this was a superb culinary experience. My two friends and I had the most amazing food. Hard to say what we liked best! I had the vegetarian alternatives and they were wonderful. I think my friends had lamb which they said was equally stunning. The whole experience was fun, when we tried to guess the ingredients of the sorbets, unsuccessfully! and just right in terms of balance of taste and quantities. Go before they retire!

We booked this as a special evening out at the end of a week celebrating my wife's 50th. We could not have been more pleased to have saved this for the end. It was amazing. It's all a surprise and as we were a mix of veggies and non I was a bit concerned. But I should not have been. The courses were all perfect in size and flavour. We bought our own wine from Tanner's and had an extra bottle of Rioja from the house list. It was ace. Really loved our night and anyone who wants a really special evening out should go here. Probably the best cuisine I have had ! Awesome and I will go again and again any time I am in town.

The entrance is an uninspiring door on the street - that's all. But worry not; you walk through the long hall then up the stairs to the piano nobile. You're in an mid-Georgian town-house circa 1792 and I imagine that the smaller dining room was the salon. It had elegant proportions and original features. We were greeted in the bar and our coats taken so that we could sit in the warm, having come in from a bitter winter's night! We were asked what foods we didn't like and then our host went off to find the chef so that our surprise 6-course dinner could be prepared. Choosing wine was difficult (since we didn't know what we were going to eat!) so we opted for a half-bottle each of rather good white and read Bordeaux. Then into the dining room!

This is our fourth visit to Renaissance and we are always sure of a good welcome from Mrs Lake, who runs front of house with charm and style and Mr Lake's food is always mouthwatering, interesting and varied. This time we booked in the evening for four of us and the beauty of this innovative eatery is that you never have the agony of browsing a long and complicated menu because the menu is set and you are surprised with a plate of outstandingly delicious food for each of the six courses. The "guess the sorbet ingredients" is always fun and Mrs Lake or one of her excellent waitresses give you full details on every course when they serve it. Certainly one of the best restaurants in Shrewsbury and well worth a visit.

We spent a really enjoyable couple of hours, last night, munching through the six course surprise menu. The upstairs restaurant is small and cosy; almost as if you’re in a friend’s front room. The staff are very attentive and helpful, making sure little things like the table water was topped up. Of course, the food is the draw and the food at Renaissance is exceptional. We had six courses of beautifully balances food with each course topping the previous. Starting with a shot of parsnip soup with a quails egg and mini cauliflower tartlet. Then the fish dish followed by a lovely two-flavoured sorbet. Then came the meat dish of lamb cutlets with dauphinois potato. The sweet course was the star of the show. I’m not a pudding person, but the trio of sweets was up there with the best I have tasted. Finally, the meal ended with local cheeses. The quality of the food and the cooking was superb. The atmosphere was friendly and the surprise menu was fun. We will definitely be going back for more.

The trio of desserts was agreed as the favourite course on a table of normally savoury lovers. We met friends in Shrewsbury last weekend and I found the Renaissance on Trip Advisor prior to going so I booked a table to sample their 6 course taster menu. The venue is like a house and we were asked if we preferred a quieter room so we opted for this with 3 tables. From the outset the service was prompt and professional. I have to say the food was superb and without exception each course was amazing. Someone in the kitchen is a complete foodie and really knows their stuff! The flavours were only demoted into second place by the presentation and we all loved the descriptions each time a course arrived. There was a satisfying time between each course and this made for a lovely evening's entertainment. Many thanks to all the staff for being so efficient yet friendly. Our evening was, as usual, grounded in fine food, full of complex flavours, excellent presentation, warm and friendly service and intimate in scale. The taster menu's are always very good value whilst enabling food allergies to be catered for. The taste test sorbet's are a nice touch to keep you guessing. Finally, it is good to eat in a small intimate space which has good acoustics. It is possible to hold a normal conversation without being drowned out by a harsh background din due to the harsh interior surfaces. carpets and curtains have their advantage.

It was Renaissance, a few versions in the past, that did the catering at our wedding 27 years ago so we thought we'd try the latest team for our anniversary dinner. Intrigued by the 'surprise' 6 course tasting menu we were not at all disappointed, especially considering it was £38 per head which we considered exceptional value! We were warmly greeted and shown to our smart table in this converted old town house, very tastefully refurbished. The wine list was comprehensive and sensibly priced. It's probably not worth going through each of the 6 courses because we were informed that they change/evolve frequently and then it's advertised as a 'surprise' menu anyway. That said, once we had booked they asked whether there was anything we couldn't eat or particularly disliked - neither applied in our case but it was considerate to check anyway. So, all I will say is that each of the 6 courses was very tastefully done, expertly executed and delicious! We will definitely be returning at a later date for another delightful dinner!

I went here with my wife last evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our first meeting at the Golden Torch in Tunstall. We had the six course special. There was no menu but we were asked if we did specifically did not like anything, to which I replied Marmite, Bovril and tea ( for which in the past I've been accused of being very in-English). I liked the idea that there was no menu, as each course came as a surprise and all of them, both in terms of presentation and taste were superb.

Having lived in Shrewsbury for well over 25 years i had never been to Renaissance Resturant. I enjoy going to restaurants in town but wow how did i miss this one.We walked upstairs with anticipation to be greeted by Julie with a big smile, we were a little early so she engaged in conversation before presenting us with a wine menue. I had booked this restaurant in advanced and spoke with Stephen who asked us if we had any alligies or were vegitarian, this was great because we were booking for the Taster menu and wanted to make sure we didn't get anything we didnt like. The interesting thing about this resturant is that you can bring your own wine and they charge you corkage, we just picked a medium priced house wine, it was very good.We were shown to our table by Philipa our waitress for the night, very plesant and chatty. The first course arrived and Philippa ran through the dish naming all the ingredients, and what a first course I'm not going to give away the menu because that would spoil the supprises which came coming with Philippa running through all ingredients for every course. Her customer service was A1 in fact it was better than some of the Michelin starred restaurants Ive been in. Julie popped around now again making sure we were enjoying the experience. This Standard of customer service as to be the best i've experienced and other so called top restuarants should take note. The food was fantastic very well cooked by a Chef who deserves recognition for such quality cooking .This visit was my first and certainly not my last, infact we will be returning again soon.If you want top quality Michelin styled food, great customer service a perfect ambiance and a warm welcome Renaissance is a must, by far the best resturant in Shrewsbury and possible Shropshire .

This is a difficult restaurant to review without coming over unkind. As someone else has mentioned, it is like walking into someone’s home, but in the early 70’s. There is one main room housing about six tables, nicely spaced out. Apparently there is a second room to accommodate larger parties. Linen table cloths but paper serviettes! Our host (owner) was very nice and welcoming, we had a pre-dinner drink in the small bar while choosing our wine. A small wine list but you should be able to find something to suit all tastes and at very reasonable prices. You can also BYO at a small corkage fee. There is only the six course “surprise” tasting menu on offer and generally all the dishes looked the part but a few slightly missed the spot sadly, but on the whole it was a good experience food wise. It must be said that the owners are passionate and proud about what they do and are very friendly and we talked extensively with our host.So it would seem that there is “fine dining” and then there is “fine dining”. This is good value, but we have experienced fine dining many times and it is unfortunately in a different league to this BUT… at a far greater price.A difficult review then as the owners are so pleasant. There are better restaurants in Shrewsbury, and I am certain a lot that are far worse. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Shrewsbury for a few nights.

I'm not going to say exactly what we had but all of it was home made and really beautiful in taste and presentation. This is fine dining at its best and would highly recommend a visit. The only one small thing is that it was a little bit quiet when we first arrived so a bit of low background music playing in the room would be nice however the restaurant soon filled up and there was a really buzz afterwards.A very unique idea having a surprise menu absolutely loved it and will definitely return !

Enjoyed a meal here recently and can recommend a visit. The only menu is the "Surprise 6 course taster" so just go with the flow and enjoy it. Yes, the decor feels like you're in someone's house but that creates a familar feel. When offered the wine menu I had to ask for some clues to match the food and opted for a glass or white followed by the House red- a Rioja. They were lovely. Most of the wine is fairly priced at around £20 a bottle and you can BYO for £5 corkage. With only 6 tables, it felt cosy yet comfortable- someone with a loud voice could dominate the room, but fortunately our fellow guests were of the hushed type. What about the food? We both enjoyed each course. I won't give away too much as the menu does not change too quickly. Suffice it to say there was a soup/ seafood/ meat/guess the ingredients/ pudding ( x3 mini puds. Mmmmm) and cheese course. All well cooked and tasted rather good. The 'guess the ingredients' course was a good game! We were half right! Would we go back? Yes, as long as we waited a few months for the menu to evolve to avoid eating the same courses again.

We visited Renaissance for the seven course tasting menu. The menu is a surprise and you don't know what you are getting until it is served, however upon booking the staff do ask if there is anything that you do not like or are allergic to.The place itself is tucked away and could be very easily missed. The restaurant is located on the first floor and reminded of visiting a elderly great aunts house. At this point we were unsure of what to expect. Once the food started to arrive we were pleasantly surprised . The food was of great quality and tasted wonderful. Each course was a pleasure to eat. The sorbet is outstanding and it was great fun trying to guess exactly what the flavors were. The other great thing about this restaurant is the fact you can take your own wine. This is the second visit I have made to this restaurant and I always enjoy the food, the service and the wine they serve here.My fiancé took me here last year and again this January for our anniversary. We had the tasting menu which is always a delight and a surprise. They are excellent in making sure (when they take a booking) that they are able to cater for specific dietary needs and also take Gourmet card (which is another added bonus and makes it excellent value for money).6 courses of wonderful food and good atmosphere (the place is always full of other happy couples) make it a perfect evening out.The only tiny criticism would be the decor with some attention being needed to update/repaint. However I wouldn't want to change the cosiness of the place (it does feel like your having dinner in someone's house). They also do take away home cooked meals which I know I will be taking advantage of in the future. Thank you again for a wonderful evening and looking forward to our next meal there.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a celebration lunch at the Renaissance in Shrewsbury recently. Not easy to find, tucked between other buildings with only the entry at street level, the stairs make it inaccessible for people who are in wheel chairs unfortunately. There were three rooms on the next level, one we used which was private to us that day, another room where they were serving and a third room with a few seats and a bar. Beautifully set tables in a room belonging to another era made it a very relaxing experience and the food was cooked perfectly and served attractively. The trio of desserts were delicious! It is only open a few days in the week so check their website, but serves coffee in the morning too if you want to check it out before booking a meal. At night time there is a set menu so you need to eat what is served so lunch might be the best option if you prefer a choice. The couple who run it are very friendly and serve local foods as far is possible. Hope if we are down in Shrewsbury again that we will fit in another visit!

My wife arranged a surprise 'birthday' dinner party at Renaissance Restaurant, Princess Street, Shrewsbury. Upon our arrival at 1930 hours on Friday 30th December 2016, I was informed by my wife that the establishment would normally be closed Christmas week but they had opened especially to cater for my birthday party. The restaurant premises are located on the first floor of this beautiful historic building. We were greeted at the door by Julie the proprietess, who in turn introduced us to her husband Steve, the chef. We were then introduced to Verity our waitress for the evening. Our party of sixteen (16) guests were shown to a room also on the first floor which was arranged to allow meeting and greeting prior to dinner. Prosecco was served and I was informed that the menu was a surprise. 'WOW'; what a surprise. We were shown into the dining room which had been laid for our party of sixteen patrons. The room was large enough to comfortably cater for our dinner party. Seven (7) courses were served throughout the evening, each course prior to consumption was described by Verity or Julie. I can honestly state that the meal surpassed all my expectations. It would take 200 words to describe the content of each course, suffice it to say that the fish course of Monkfish, Haddock, Hake & Salmon in a lobster sauce with cheese, was probably the tastiest fish dish I have ever eaten!!!! I also tasted truffles for first time in my life. Everything was perfect from the starters to the liqueurs. We left the restaurant at 11.30pm having had the best birthday party of my life. Thank you Steve, Verity & Julie for making it such a memorable occasion.

Firstly, apologies for the delay in posting this review. We have dined here a number of times now, always having the six course surprise taster menu. Why change when courses when you are ahead. Delightful food with attentive personal service in a relaxed and charming environment. There is a good wine selection, including wines from Tanners Wine Merchants of Shrewsbury. Most enjoyable evening, thank you.

We had a most enjoyable evening sampling the chef's selection of delicious dishes. It is so refreshing to have your choices made for you and clearly, chef knows best. Each course beautifully presented and I enjoyed every one. I didn't do too well on guess the sorbet, I must go back! Julie and her delightful waitresses were charming and attentive and I heartily recommend Renaissance for a wonderful culinary experience. Thank you all.

We visited with a large party to enjoy the expected good food and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed the six course tasting menu which was of excellent quality and presentation. A wonderful mix of dishes. Service was attentive with the timing of each course paced well. Personally I believe Renaissance provides good value for money, why sacrifice your enjoyment and save a few pounds elsewhere. Thanks to all for a great evening.

Homely welcome, genuine staff. Food presentation & taste was brilliant, portion sizes didn't leave us hungry & served at a good pace. Didn't know what was on the menu till placed in front of you, then meal was explained, for course 3 we had to guess sorbe flavours, great touch! Felt special, looking forward to going back once the seasons change & hope for different flavours & courses. I doubt we would have gone/noticed if we'd wondered looking for somewhere to eat (there's just the front door & sign) on the street, seats upstairs) but that added to its uniquenees & quality. Thanks for a great evening!

It had been several years since we visited Renaissance and we were delighted to say that it was as good as ever.We were welcomed by Julie and Steve the owners, who made us promise not to leave it so long until our next visit! We had the salmon and spring onion fish cakes to start - delicious and just enough.Main course was confit duck served with parsnip mash and damson gravy - mmmm! for myself and for my husband, the pork loin with anchovies and lemony mash. The accompanying dish of veg for two could not be faulted - cheesy leeks, mashed carrots, savoy cabbage and courgettes.Desserts were heavenly! Plum, cinammon and almond sponge for myself, served with custard and homemade vanilla ice cream ( at my request! ) and Malibu Chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream for my husband. The Malibu tart was light and mousse-like....!A pot of coffee rounded off the meal.Renaissance is a culinary oasis in a desert of fast food outlets and big chain restaurants.

Renaissance is an odd place. As a friend said who's eaten here before said, it's like having a meal out in someone's front room. If the other diners are chatting away the atmosphere is fine as it was the second time I ate here but the first time, nobody was talking and it's such a small dining room, with cosy decor and close tables, you feel ill at ease. Clearly for some regular diners this is what they like, but it can feel uncomfortable.Overall I'd have given 3 stars for the "peculiarity" of the place but it's food is very good. It's not cheap so this should also be borne in mind but the evening "chef's menu" is beautifully cooked and each time I've eaten there each course has been exquisite, even if not quite to my taste.

I was abit intrigued by the surprise 6 course taster menu so booked in for a nice Saturday evening and WOW, this place is gorgeous, still in the original Georgian decor. The food was fantastic! The Chef has some serious skills. Absolutely loved it and definitely recommend.

Dining at Renaissance is the exact opposite to the run of the mill chain restaurants that have established themselves in Shrewsbury in recent years. After a busy week we couldn't face an evening in a large space with hard surfaces and ringing noise when celebrating a birthday. Having been to Renaissance a couple of times before it seemed the natural choice. The 6 course surprise menu was delightful from start to finish with each course displaying the skills of the chef. When you take into account the amuse bouche and dessert each had 3 elements, not to mention the main course consisted of duck confit, there was a considerable amount of work in the meal. The service was attentive and friendly from both the owner and a young waitress who between them looked after the 2 small dining rooms. The concept and the environment may not be to everyone's liking but if you have accepting taste buds and like fine dining in a refined setting then this is the place to go for a special occasion.

Visited the restaurant with my wife.Very nice welcome, made to feel wanted.Food was excellent, a 6 course 'surprise'menu so we didn't know what to expect, and to us that was all part of the evening. The owner did contact us before we went to just check that we had no real hates or allergies, so that was nice. The whole meal had variety. It lasted a full evening (2.5hrs), so if you are looking for a quick bite, I'd suggest you go somewhere else, but if you want something special, then this may be the one for you. It's not cheap, but then you would expect it to be - it has quality.Service was good as well.

The 6 course evening meal was superbly created. The whole evening was a 5 star indulgence over a 21/2 hour time frame. Well worth a visit but book well in advance because it gets booked very quickly! Nothing like it in Shrewsbury...!

Passed the "doorway" to this restaurant lunchtime today. Attracted by the 5 star scores on the doors and trip advisor sticker. Went in to the porch way to read the menu and liked what we saw. Went up the stairs to a nicely laid out dining room with crisp white table cloths. Service was first class and the starters and mains we had were beautifully cooked and tasty. Two soft drinks, two starters and two mains £42.90. There were only three other diners whilst we were there which is a shame because I believe small, family run restaurants like these are simply the best. Just a tip to the owners...maybe try and make that doorway, porch and hallway more welcoming/upmarket looking! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

A six course surprise taster menu for £38 a head! Where else would you get that sort of value? The beef really was 'melt in the mouth' and the thoughtful flavours of the sorbets and ice creams were delicious. As were all the flavour combinations. The veg was homegrown. I could not fault anything. It was a Saturday night, the restaurant was full with 12 covers. The service was good, friendly and informative without being obtrusive. I would definitely recommend a visit.

It is important to know that the 6 course Surprise Menu is not of the trendy variety where a smear some rather exotic juice is an excuse to raise the cost. This is a creative mix of truly enjoyable components and if the price is analysed is no more than that of a stodgy 3 course in other establishments. Do not confuse this with a taster menu. The intimate nature of the venue combined with excellent staff make for a thoroughly enjoyable evening with friends. Good food, wine and conversation, what more could you ask for.Although you do not select dishes from a menu you are, at the time of booking, able to state anything to be avoided. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

We had a table booked for my two friends 40th Birthday celebration. It was a large table of about 10 of us. I have lived in Shrewsbury for 6 years and can't believe I have just discovered this place. It has a very homely feel and the decor can seem dated, however I would not let this put me off. We had a private dining room all sat round in a square which was really nice to be able to chat. We were having a 6 course meal. each course was presented beautifully and the serving staff fully explained what we were having. It was a set menu but half of the booking were veggies and they catered brilliantly. I had a beautiful fish course and lamb course and the desserts were my favourite. 3 mini desserts of homemade mint & blackcurrant ice cream, lemon posset and apricot tart. All fresh! The service was fantastic and what I really enjoyed about this restaurant is that it doesn't try to be pretentious and a new fangled trend for a restaurant. It focuses on good food, really good food, classic, local and full of flavour.

We have been going to the Renaissance restaurant for about 15 years and it continues to delight us every time we go - it is without any doubt our favourite place to eat!The food is English in style, beautifully cooked and presented and although the choices are limited, there is always something there that you will enjoy. Save room for a pudding!

We visited Renaissance for the first time this weekend and will be sure to return. The Surprise Menu made for a quite unique experience for a special evening, in an intimate setting. On booking, our food preferences and intolerances were discussed which meant that the courses were mainly the same for us both but with specific variations, mainly regarding shellfish! Each course was delicious and being asked to the guess the flavours of the sorbets made it interesting and light hearted.Highly recommended.

As always a surprise menu but great choices and lots of courses with just the right quantities. Apart from the amuse bouche the hake was memorable as was the lamb followed by three small puddings and a cheese course. Service always excellent. You can take your own wine if you wish for a small corkage charge. A great place to go.

I visited Renaissance on a recommendation from a friend, and was very impressed. It's a set menu, but they're amazing at catering for all dietary requirements and allergies. The lactose intolerant member of the party was catered for perfectly and in no way felt like they missed out.The decor needs some refreshing, and from the street you would barely know this jewel was here. Get past that and you're in for a treat at a fantastic price.

We have been several times to this restaurant and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.Went with friends today for lunch and hoped to use our gourmet card. Admittedly we forgot to mention it before we sat down but when it came to settling the bill we were refused use of t he card. Now as the restaurant had only 7 customers apart from our 4 it was not an issue of not being able to fit us in. Would they have refused us if we had mentioned it first....we will never know. We were urged to use it one evening for a taster menu....what do you think are the chances?

Not knowing what was coming added to the pleasure of anticipation of the evening. And when it came we were not disappointed at all. Perfectly cooked food which was served in an inviting manner with well balanced portions not only on each plate, but also as whole courses. We left at the end of the evening full, but not over full, feeling very contented and wondering why we had never been here before. A lovely relaxed evening.

This is an unique little restaurant. There is no sort of restaurant front, just a door that takes you up a flight of stairs. There is a bar just off the landing and this seems like it used to be a living room or something. The hospitality from the host was very good and we felt immediately welcome. After a g&t in the bar we were lead through to one of the dinning areas, which also had the feel of being in someones house. We had six courses and all of the food was very good. We were there for about three hours and the pace of the service for the amount that we ate was just right. I would recommend this quirky place to anyone who likes good food and service.

Came in with my partner on Saturday night for 6 course special. I was slightly apprehensive because I'm a fussy eater but they ask you what you do and don't eat when you arrive. The food was absolutely beautiful. The service was fantastic, we were mainly served by a young girl with dark brown hair and she was extremely helpful and great. They make you feel very welcome, and recommended a great wine. Would definitely return, we left very impressed and nicely full. Thank you!

This was our second visit and both meals were very good. Basically you get what you are given subject of course to saying what you don't eat or what you had before to avoid repetition. Amuse bouche, starter, main course, pudding followed by cheese for £38 excluding drinks. The various rooms are quite small but elegant. The service is friendly and welcoming and the cooking is of a very high standard. This and La Dolce Vita are now my favourite restaurants in Shrewsbury

Most of the tasting menus I have experienced elsewhere have been twee in the extreme. This I prefer to think of as a real sampling menu with courses that are sufficient to allow flavours to develop and be fully appreciated. The wines were good without pretention and the restaurant a warm and intimate environment with an extremely welcoming host. We shall return, as they say.

The second time I have been to this restaurant, and bowled over by the quality of the food again. A warm welcome started an evening of gastronomic excellence. Couldn't fault anything. Even, having taken our own wine, we chose a wonderful Haut Medoc off their wine list. Not usually being an eater of beef, it was cooked to perfection. We love this pub! Delicious home cooked food and a warm welcome every time. The pub is a beautiful old building with exposed beams and a roaring fire always lit in winter. The beer garden with views of the Shropshire Hills is stunning for summer, plus it's fenced in so you can have kids and dogs running about with no bother

My wife and I visited Christopher's for the first time in November 2024. We had a bit of a struggle to find car parking close by, and no parking was available near St Andrews Church further down the street . We had to leave Shifnal and come back in , eventually finding a nearby street parking spot in a bay on the main road . The timbered building looks lovely and full of character . Once inside we were taken to our table by a friendly waitress and soon got talking to a friendly couple on the next table . We had booked a table earlier on that night by phone and Christopher ( the owner ) had tried to ring back earlier in the day when we had phoned outside opening hours with no reply. Christopher's also has an on-line booking system via their 'clunky but functional ' website . My wife had a Devilled kidneys on sour dough toast, starter which she was very pleased with . I did not have a starter but had a main of 'Chargrilled Pork Steak on the bone , creamed mashed potatoes and vegetables' [£19.95] which was again very enjoyable. My wife had an 8oz Sirlion Steak , with hand cut chips , vine tomatoes and mushroom [ £24.95] - recent medical situations and medicines have restricted her food intake but apart from a bit of help from the greedy husband with some of the great chips , she was ab$le to eat all the steak and still smile ! I then had an interesting Apple and Winterberry Crumble with custard [ £7.50] - a decent pudding, but I would try a different one when , hopefully , we visit again . The dining experience at Christopher's was , for us, a relaxing and enjoyable one . It is not cheap, but the food is of a high quality and cooked to perfection and therefore well worth the price .

Our first visit here and won't be out last. We had already had lunch on the way to Oswestry so we just had cappuccinos and a scone. The scone was huge & came warm. It was huge & was delicious. We chose the Christmas special which was a cinnamon flavoured one with a large knob of butter & real fruit jam. The coffee was also very nice too & all served by friendly polite staff. The price was very reasonable, just be aware that payment is cash only which is clearly signed at the entrance.
