Relish in North Tyneside

I got a caramel latte here, I just happened across it when looking for a cafe open late enough for me to work on my computer at. The atmosphere was cozy, and I appreciated how friendly the staff was. I think they may be in the middle of renovations, but it almost feels like it was an intentional design choice. I was here during the later hours, from about 4-6:30, and I was very satisfied with both how nice my latte and hot chocolate were, as well as with how comfy I was just spending time here.

This place is amazing overall,amazing staff,tasty food that left us all extremely impressed and the decoration is top tier

Lovely coffee and food. Lots of gorgeous cakes, cookies and muffins too choose form too. Great range of coffees and staff so friendly and helpful. Cafe well set out with plenty of space between tables and outside seating available. Items well priced and a fantastic shop on the side of the cafe selling a huge selection of coffees. teas and coffee machines suitable for all occasions. Well worth a visit & very good prices .

Last did a review of Relish Coffee shop in 2015 but been coming here since it opened!! Love the coffee and regularly buy their beans as well for home consumption. They have now expanded into what was the hairdresser next door where they sell coffee machines, accessories, crockery and of course their wonderful array of bags of coffee from most of the coffee regions around the world. The cafe also has more tables and new stools in the window to watch the world go by whilst drinking the coffee!! Come the spring no doubt the pavement tables and chairs will be back out as well.

Found this coffee shop by chance on a weekend visit to Whitley Bay, so pleased we did! It's dog and human friendly and serves great coffee! Oh and amazing breakfast rolls. It's small but has outside seating and takeaway. Lovely friendly staff too. So good we delayed heading home to go back again.

Tucked around the corner from the Spanish City, this place is a little gem of a coffee shop. Go here if you like proper barista coffee and a wam welcome - lovely guy who runs the place will chat to you because he’s genuine and enjoys his job. Also nice toasties and rolls freshly prepared.

Came across this lovely place on our road trip up the north east coast. Lovely and welcoming staff offering beautiful food. Husband said it was the best latte he ever did have :-) Thankyou Bonus point for being dog friendly

On holiday from Western Australia called into Whitley Bay for a visit came across this place Great coffee good food and service very friendly staff

The gaffer in charge wss quite abrupt and curt. Didn't see why it ought to be really. The food was ok but definitely not worth a second visit am afraid. Curt demeanour from the boss has meant never again.

Thought would try this out as people at work said it was worth a visit. Sorry to say it has gone down hill. My coffee to take away was just warm and weak. Not for me(Greggs coffee much better| and cheaper)

If you want to be served by young girls completely lacking any social or customer service skills, then this is the place for you! To order my drink, and be stared at blankly, then laughed at, was the high point of my visit. Any time I need to be brought down to earth and kept humble, I’ll go to Relish Coffee in Whitley Bay.

Waited ages for 2 ham cheese and onion relish panini. Wed finished our drinks when food came. £5 each for the panini tiny piece of ham couldn't see any cheese just the onion relish. Very poor value. A few tortilla chips with it so dry. Used the toilet couldn't get in because there was a bag in the way. No water coming out of the tap. Fortunately I had wipes and hand gel with me. Ii like to use local small businesses but certainly will not return to this one. It will be Greggs next time. Very very disappointing. Spoilt a nice sunny morning walk.

A great first experience! This place does the best Mocha I’ve ever tasted…perfectly balanced between the sweetness of the chocolate and their blend of coffee. Staff are friendly and polite too. I’ll definitely be back for another!

Mug small coffee and tea plus uninspiring rock hard brownie. Total £7.50 Cramped uncomfortable seating area. No effort. No presentation. Indifferent and surprised when I requested an itemised receipt. Simply did not know what one was so they wrote the product items down without the corresponding item price. In fairness there are many eating establishments who feel they can get away with this standard of fare. And they do. Nice to the dog.

My family and I called in for a sandwich and a coffee, having heard rave reviews. Sadly it was not an experience to 'relish'. As you would expect, the coffees were nice, and because of this we expected the food to be similarly good. They certainly charge a premium price for it. £5 for a takeaway sausage and bacon sandwich is steep but ok for quality food. Instead we got burnt bacon and bargain basement watery sausages. The really cheap frozen kind. The sausages in Weatherspoons or a greasy spoon are better. It must have cost about 50p to put that sandwich together. I'd much prefer to pay a little more and support a local business, but I don't expect that business to be ripping off it's local customers. If you want food, give this place a miss and go to Gregg's instead.

This is my local coffee shop and Polat is very attentive and welcoming. With his guidance, I have learned to appreciate different types of coffee and the different styles

We dropped by for a delicious coffee and breakfast. I had a roasted veg and pesto panini as a vegan option which they were happy to accommodate for. Lovely service too! Thank you guys, only negative would be that it was highlighted as a cheap place to go but £16 for 2 coffees and sandwiches isn't cheap.

I have honestly found my favourite coffee place, and he will post out too. The house decaf coffee is delightfully chocolaty and ever so smooth. The dairy alternative of oat milk is the barists type, which makes for an amazingly lovely coffee. So much so...

There's no doubt that, whilst Relish has good quality coffee on offer, the same cannot be said about its dairy alternatives. Yes, there is Soya and Oat milk etc on the menu, but they're not designed for professional coffee making (they're the ones from Aldi...

My husband and I get coffees from here almost daily. They are seriously good. My son also loves the hot chocolate, and there's a great selection of sandwiches and pastries. Definitely worth a visit.

Ideal place for a pre theatre snack, as it is opposite the playhouse. Relish serves delicious tapas/mezze style food and superb coffee. Choose any 3 dishes for £8, all served with warm pitta bread or tortilla chips. We went for the pitta bread, which is fantastic. Service is very good and nothing is too much trouble. The seating is not the most comfortable but that is possibly to deter the daytime studious types, who might be tempted to buy a cup of coffee and sit in a leather armchair for the next five hours. We enjoyed great food for a very reasonable price and would highly recommend.

I have Coffee in Relish at least 5 mornings a week (after school drop off it is needed) there is only one reason I keep going back, it really is a great little communal Hub!, the staff are great and after doing loads of quality research..... Nescafé, Kenco, Costa, Starbucks, Greggs, McDonalds, you get the picture, all the top coffee outlets in the UK, I can honestly say that this Small independent Coffee Roaster is the best Coffee I have EVER HAD!

We stumbled on this great little place whilst taking our son out for the day from Newcastle university. We were immediately welcomed as soon as we entered. The atmosphere was great and food was really good. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you to the lovely loud Scottish host and the lady who made a fuss of our dog x

Stopped in for a coffee and a bite to eat, we both had a roll with sausage, bacon and mushroom, the coffee was nice and strong and the roll was tasty.Lovely and friendly staff, nice to hear another Scottish voice, a nice cosy cafe in a nice little town.

First time visit while doggy at groomer's. Lovely ambience and the Gentleman running it really lovely. Great sausage and mushroom breakfast roll and sausage and egg roll for my husband and wonderful Cortado coffees. AND a fellow Bearded Collie owner enjoying a coffee too with beautiful Alfie. Full of regulars which is always nice. We will be back. Super friendly and with appreciation of how doggies can make a coffee shop even better. Like the look of lunch menu too.

Great little coffee shop on the coast, had coffee here a few times the staff are really friendly and polite, and the coffee tastes so nice much better than the chain coffee shops. If you in Whitley Bay I’d 100% recommend a visit.

Friendly place with a good range of food and an amazing range of their own roasted coffee. We get the beans also from Relish for home decaffeinated ones but strong taste.

So pleased we found this by accident having decided the new Spanish City was too expensive. The English/Turkish snacks are tatsty and well priced. Really enjoyed a mezze of 3 dishes for £8, which I had to share with my 1 year old grandaughter who loved the food! My wife had a toastie which had good quality ham and cheese inside. The coffee was good and far better than a Costa type place. A great choice of cakes, which again my grandaughter poished off! A little gem of a cafe amid the fish and chip shops.

We spent a few hours in Whitley Bay and happened upon this coffee shop. A really good coffee shop. They roast their own coffee and seem to have a good selection of snacks. Owner very friendly. I would certainly go here again.

I was very disappointed with the strawberry milkshake I purchased on Saturday 29/6/19. It wasn't I've cold as advertised, the glass was small, it was overpriced at £3 and was made from powder.

Lovely coffee shop - very friendly and attentive staff. Serves great coffee freshly roasted on the premises. Good choice of Mezze and Turkish breakfasts as well as the more traditional bacon and sausage sarnies which I’ll be back to try!

Just nipped in after school run and I will 100% be nipping in more often bacon sandwich was to die for cooked to perfection hardly any fat lovely taste and quality. Bread bun was also delicious ! Black Americano to go with again a very very good cup of coffee ! Yum definitely be revisiting soon!

I visited Relish whilst passing, I was extremely disappointed, there was black dots in my milkshake, the plates were dirty, the floor hadn't been swept.

A fairly cramped corner coffee shop with a Turkish (and Albanian) background. A few fairly tightly packed tables. The coffee is absolutely brilliant in whatever guise you drink it. Especially recommended is the Turkish breakfast. It's the real deal and a tourist attraction in its own right. Great staff - and customers. If you're in Whitley Bay this is a must.

My friend and i went to Relish for a coffee .. For a small /tiny cafe it has a nice atmosphere,so decided to try the tapas lunch . It was absolutely delicious . I would really recommend the vine leaves . The small dishes are £2:50 each or 3 for £6:50, so we chose 3 each , which was just the right amount of food as it is all served with pitta bread .

We were looking for a light bite prior to visiting the Playhouse and Relish, being right opposite, was a gem of a find. We had 3 bowls of Mezze each, selected from their good choice menu. The food was freshly prepared and deliciously tasty, accompanied with pitta bread, with refills if desired. We had a mean cup of coffee to wash it down. Service was polite and very attentive. Closing time is 8 p.m. which is ideal for a pre- theatre snack. The prices are very reasonable and our only surprise was that it was not a lot busier, given it's excellent location. We would highly recommend Relish and will certainly be back, next time we are in Whitley Bay.

Stopped in for a quick coffee to hide from the wind and ended up staying for food because the service and atmosphere was exceptional. We were a party of four and we sat with plenty of room and the menu had a variety options that everyone got something they would enjoy. We ordered the soup of the day (vegetable soup) which was delicious and earthy and would recommend if it's on the day you come. As well as the ham cheddar and chutney cheese that doesn't stray too far from tradition so if you're looking for comfort it's definitely a solid choice. We also dabbled in the "Relish Special" which is a tapas idea of picking three small dishes. These a large selection so you're bound to find something you'll like.

Relish is a great little spot for a quick bite to eat and a coffee. My fiancé and I have been here several times now and every time we walk past we will pop in for a coffee or some breakfast/lunch. The staff are very pleasant and the price is very reasonable.

I love this little cafe. I've been in several times, for coffee and cake, for lunch, for a snack before going to the theatre, and it's never disappointed. The coffee is great, the food lovely, the owner is friendly. The tiny cinnamon rolls are great - ideal if you want something sweet after a big lunch.

A great place to buy your coffee beans, and have a quick flat white while you are at it. It’s also got a great range of food, the hummus and flat bread is a particular favourite.

Ordered two teas and one little pot of tea was served. Opposite, a guy order one tea and he got the same tiny tea pot. When we came to pay we were charged £4.40. I asked why we were being charged for two when we had the same as the guy who had tea for one. I was told the tiny pot or tea for one is half full of hot water. So, if you buy tea for one or tea for two, you will be ripped off.

My family came across this place a few months ago, we opted for the Meze, it was absolutely delicious, we had 9 dishes between 3 of us for our lunch, included meatballs, chicken, hummus, feta and olives plus free pita bread. You can get 3 dishes for £6 which is an absolute bargain, plus we had a coffee, water and a coke, lunch including drinks was £23 for the 3 of us. We will be back soon.

Popped in for a late breakfast with my partner and the dogs. Tried the memenem, which was very nice indeed and also a haloumi and sausage sandwich.. The dogs had a sausage each too.

I rarely write reviews but felt that I should take time to do so in this case. Was walking past and thought we would pop in for a coffee and a nibble. The staff (including owner) were very friendly and welcoming and helped in our decision to buy 3 mezze for £6 and we were very glad we did. Food was on the table very quickly and tasted delicious. We called in here on a very wet easter Monday! Food was fantastic, the people who work there are great and has a real family atmosphere.

You can stare at the kit used to roast the coffee you're drinking and enjoy reasonably priced but delicious food and drink here - 1 minute from the sea front. Well worth a visit.

I love dropping in at Relish anytime I'm passing. Actually I go out of my way to drop in! I particularly like their coffee blend but on balance it's the upbeat friendly welcome that I experience ... and see other customers enjoy ... that gets me back there on a regular basis. A lovely peaceful oasis by the sea.

We came accross Relish today and dropped in for a drink. The iced lattes were lovely. We also had three small dishes - hummus, vegetables and halloumi. They were really nice! The cafe also sells it’s own roasted coffee so we got a bag of the homeblend to take home. Such a nice place. Good menu, dog friendly, laid back and very friendly staff. After a walk from Tynemouth to Whitley Bay via Cullercoats what you need is a proper pick-me-up. Stop in here for an espresso (or a Turkish coffee if you dare!) or have a "softer" option like a latte etc. The Pitta Pizzas are tasty as hell too. Great, friendly staff. Loyalty cards. Will have to sample the meze next time.....

Popped in early on a Sunday for breakfast. Great coffee and a big bacon sandwich! Reasonably priced, the guy behind the counter was friendly and brought my food to the table. Highly recommend.

Stopped by on the scoot for a change from the usual Fish and Chips. Excellent coffee and a fine range of mezze, sandwiches and salads. The Sucuk (spiced garlic sausage) is particularly good. £5.45 for 3 mezze with Pita.

I have been in to relish on a number of occasions for food and coffee. The staff (Mike) and owner (Polat) cannot do enough to help and will go out of their way to meet your needs or serve something to your preference. Everything is reasonably priced, there's a nice atmosphere and a good range to choose from. A little gem in Whitley Bay!

We popped here on a day out with family, it was a little further up the street and away from the busy crowds.Service was speedy and very friendly. I would definitely visit here again.

We were lucky enough to be there when they were roasting their own coffee and we even got some samples to take home. Finding a place that does single origin coffee is a coffee lovers heaven! Nice child friendly place, if you ask staff are more than willing to help with fussy little eaters as I have 1 or 2! Friendly staff, good food and coffee. All round good experience.

We stopped for refreshments after a bit bank holiday at the sea front. Ordered some cold drinks and a strawberry milkshake for son. Staff very pleasant. Unfortunately the milkshake was full of depth and not very strawberry tasting soy partner took it back for an exchange. Staff apologetic and happy toake a replacent which came straight out and was lovely. Nice to see a place willing to accept a customer's dissatisfaction and sort it out immediately without any problems. Will certainly ensure we will return

After morning stroll along the beach, we fancied finding somewhere for a bite to eat. My breakfast bap was spot on!

If you want something other than the usual fast food then this pleasant little cafe is just right. Obliging staff and a good selection of snacks to include salads. Lovely to watch the world go by on a sunny day.

Service good but difficult to say the food was great, sandwich bread was supposed to be wholemeal but wasn't despite the owner saying it was. It was white bread with some grains in it, rather disappointed.

We haven't been here for ages and always enjoyed it the past. The owner and staff are great as is the meze of Turkish influenced food. Also dog friendly and they will even serve sausages for them which is a great bonus. This time however the meze was very bland. Just average. Tasted bought in and not homemade.. Add to that the fact that the owner went out and bought chips from the local chippy and ate them at a table opposite us with his children didn't fill us with confidence. Its a shame. Hopefully it was just a bad day at the office.

I really wanted this place to be great. The food on the menu is great, typical Turkish food which I've had and enjoyed many times. Unfortunately,this time it was quite tasteless, the four of us all agreed. A bit of salt, more lemon and garlic maybe.

Well worth the visit. I'm used to an Italian style espresso in Melbourne and this hit the spot more than anything else I've had in the UK. It's a nice place to stop on a walk from Tynemouth to St Mary's Lighthouse.The mezze were also great and the guy running the place was really friendly.
