Rustic Cup in North Tyneside

We visited today and called for coffee. My husband had coffee and a bacon sandwich and I had coffee. He has just said it was nicest flavoured coffee he has ever had!! Spotlessly clean, modern facilities and friendly staff. 5 out of 5 from us.

It is rare to find an establishment where the surroundings, staff and food are all excellent. This is undoubtedly one. We had the oven baked porridge (not your traditional dour bowl at all - a pleasant surprise awaits you !) and the secret recipe banana bread. Coffees beautifully made and presented.

The best coffee and food in the north east. Fantastic staff who have a real passion for what they do.

We popped in here the other day, on a really cold morning. We'd passed earlier as we were looking for somewhere to go for breakfast, but decided against this place as there was no menu in the window, so we weren't sure what was on offer. But as we walked back to the car after eating elsewhere, we thought we'd pop in for a cuppa. As soon as you walked in, you could feel the heating. It just instantly felt nice and cosy, although I'm sure that comes at quite an expense for the business to run. But I really appreciated that. The guy took us to our table and chatted briefly, and he was just lovely. It was really nicely decorated, had a nice atmosphere, and I just loved everything about the place. I was a bit disappointed that we had chose to go elsewhere earlier. But we'll definitely be back to try their food. We did, however, get tempted with their apparently famous banana bread, with peanut butter. That was quite tasty. Really filling after breakfast, but glad we got a piece to share. A bit of clotted cream with it, would have made a world of difference. My only recommendation would be to encourage them to put a menu in the window, as that might encourage more custom, as we definitely chose not to go in because of that initially. But no further improvements. And a lovely touch was the note on the table which explained their background. Lovely place!

This is an eatery where the waiting staff actually walk round to check if there's anything that customers might need! Who knew that could happen? It's not enough to serve excellent coffee (which they do) if the service is poor. Full marks to RC for getting right what so many seem to neglect. Perhaps they should start another business - Rustic Service - so they can show others the proper way to do customer service.

Long wait for food, 30 mins after order placed. Ordered chicken gyros which wasn’t cheap and it was at best average. No way worth £13!!! Tasteless, three bits of chicken and some wedges with a drip of sauce in a pot. Stay clear!

I had some work to do and I popped in for a coffee and bacon sandwich. The staff were friendly and attentive and the quality of my food and drink were excellent. The bacon came in a ciabatta roll with a house sauce which was delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

Rustic Cup ticks ALL the boxes. The food is INCREDIBLE, the staff are lovely people and have a great team vibe, and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. If you enjoy coffee - this is the best you'll taste. Lee and the team know good coffee and are skilled craftsmen at creating the perfect cup!

Have visited here half a dozen times and always wonderful. The best decaf coffe I've ever had and the banana bread is amazing. Lovely staff who are always attentive and the atmosphere is lovely. Will continue to visit and would definitley recommend to everyone. Thank you :)

Lovely varied menu with healthy options incl several imaginative salads, with good choice of optional add ons. Great selection of cakes including highly nutritious flapjacks and protein balls. Good tea and coffee and the most amazing cold green smoothie type drink which sounds worrying but was actually deliciously refreshing. Very friendly staff who seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that we had the best experience. I expect to return soon and often.

Went for breakfast for the first time, we both chose meat breakfast, bacon poached eggs, sausage, tomatoe,hash brown. Poached eggs were overdone, the bacon had been overdone, the whole meal was served only just warm, we paid, told them our concern when asked if all was OK. Was told, ‘Sorry’

While being a massive advocate for independent businesses and for shopping local I have been to Rustic Cup a few times now since covid. I have to say it has not been the best experience. The food is “ok”. It’s expensive but nothing to write home about,cakes are generic,nothing different to anywhere else. However, what is different is the type of service and staff you experience. You are made to order at your table which can take anything from 5 minutes to 30. Then there is the wait for food and or drinks. It takes forever. I have even seen my coffees sitting on the counter waiting for someone to bring them over, and I have waited and waited a bit more. I even went and offered to take my own and was told by a sour faced girl not to take them, they would be brought over… which they were when the coffee was cold. Then the lunch came which was expensive but ok, not outstanding..Some of the youngsters who wait tables are very polite but absolutely clueless. It’s like they have been given a job and literally not told anything about what they are serving. I don’t blame them at all. I have given Cup a few tries now but have decided I won’t be back. If it’s for lunch or even just a coffee go a few extra yards to Al Bear, there they are very welcoming, they have friendly efficient staff and you get really nice hot coffee, and their food is delicious.

Wanted to rest our legs after a morning of walking and randomly found this place. Very nice smart clean coffee shop with very pleasant service (and nice clean toilet) My latte was really really good. Very smooth with a lovely taste. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. (They also sell coffee beans so I'll have to get some next time)

We visited the caffe and ordered three coffees, two were the same. Of the two coffees which were the same one was fine, the other was undrinkable When we mentioned this to the barista he said that this was due to their making their own syrup in house. However it did not explain why there was a difference in the order as they should have tasted exactly the same We were advised to bear this in mind on our next. We were not offered a replacement coffee.

Much needed afternoon off with a lunch treat, headed to this chilled and welcoming oasis. The music, the coffee and the peaceful atmosphere all superb. I plumed for the Ciabatta Steak Sandwich, potato wedges and salad. Plus their signature barista flat white. What can I say. Everything from the beautiful coffee with its punchy hit, the sublime sandwich (the caramelized onion was the icing on the cake) the steak tender, the bread perfectly toasted. The herb radish salad refreshing and a delightful change to mayo laiden offerings. The food here is clean and I mean defined flavours, nothing masked in butter or mayo or heaps of greasy cheese (thank goodness). I felt nourished, treat and a little spoilt which is just what I wanted. The staff are welcoming and they glide around busyness with ease. I'm about to have a slice of handmade coffee and walnut cake, finishing a lovely experience. Can't recommend this international feel of a friendly place enough.

I popped into this little cafe on my way home. I was by myself and was made to feel immediately welcome. I had the most delicious Colombian coffee, and an amazing pistachio and orange brownie. The atmosphere was cosy with staff so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Just popped in here after passing. Lovely staff all very pleasant. We ordered the meat breakfast and on the menu it tells you locally and homemade items. It was delicious, everything was cooked the way we asked. We had a pot of tea which was loose leaf tea but in a strainer so didn't go into your cup and an americano which were both good This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last, we will definitely pop in again.

This is our favourite cafe for brunch. As locals there is a lot of choice in whitley bay but we love coming here. The menu is not vast but there is something for everyone. Service is super friendly and the atmosphere is lovely.
