Relentless Steak and Lobster house in Portsmouth

First time I've visited the place, friendly staff, food was great, will be returning to try other things on the menu 😋

Had a very disappointing dining experience last night. We were the only table booked and the staff just wanted to go home. Our food was average with a wagu burger over cooked and hard, with inedible salty bacon. The service was rushed, clearing our plates before the table had finished eating and trying to take or coffee's when only half drunk. They told us they were closing and asked us to leave even though we challenged them about the advertised closing time on their website, eventually closing over an hour early. Not a good experience and I would not recommend this restaurant or be returning any time soon!

Stopped by on Mother’s Day (which also happened to be my 50th birthday) for a late lunch. We knew we were taking a chance as we didn’t have a reservation, but the staff was amazing and they were able to squeeze us in due to a no-show. As expected, it was exceptionally busy as the weather was gorgeous and families were celebrating. The staff remained very friendly and professional, in spite of being inundated. The re was a set menu for the day and all of the options looked appetizing. The meal was pretty good, not as good as I’ve had from them in the past, but having worked in the service industry before, I definitely understand. My only complaint was I was given a crab leg with my meal but when I cracked it open water poured out all over the rest of my plate. A little unpleasant, but it wasn’t anything I really worried about. Overall, it’s still one of my favorite spots and I’ll definitely be back…on a much less crowded occasion.

Steak is 👌. Service was brilliant. It's a shame you have to pay up front now. But I can't say I'm surprised.

This is the first time I have been asked to pay before even seeing the food. The food was average,multiple mistakes while carrying the food: we ordered peppercorn sauce, we got mushroom sauce, we ordered a medium fillet steak, we got a bit chunk of pave that was overcooked, we ordered a salad we have been told there were no more onions and no more tomatoes, the chicken wings were swimming in a liquid watery sauce 🤡 We left more than half of the food untouched but as we were required to pay the server did not even offer us a free coffee ( i was not even expecting to be reimposed for the steak at this point). Conclusion: if you like good cuisine and good service this is NOT the place.

The strangest place. A steak house with a pic n mix in the middle of it, says it all I think 😂 On arrival was told it is a pre payment restaurant, first I've ever seen in my life. The waitress also said and I quote 'if you don't like it you can go somewhere else'. Apparently because they get 'runners'. Highly doubtful. Probably more like it's easier for them when customers complain after the food. Lobster totally overcooked, probably reheated in the microwave, no garlic butter or anything on it. Lobster mac and cheese bites completely bland. Asparagus not bad. Fillet steak, the saving grace of the evening, was good. Asked for a Corona, was given a huge bottle when they also had normal ones on the menu, which was annoying because I was driving. A highly 'meh' experience. Absolutely would not recommend.

Avoid at all costs. I understand the possible need for a booking fee that is refundable against the bill BUT when you get the bill PLUS a 10% service charge before you've even got your drinks then something is clearly wrong. Steaks okay but expensive, other meals mediocre at best. Suggest you read Trip Advisor reviews as well. Not a place to visit!

Absolutely stunning Sunday carvery, great value and by far the best carvery in Portsmouth, glad we found this gem of a place, will definitely be coming back again! Great options of meat and veg at a great fair price. The menu during the week looks amazing and can’t wait to come back and try something off that.

My wife and I have just had an amazing lunchtime experience here today. Laura on front of house was fantastic and very informative as my wife has a nut allergy. The fillet steak with diane sauce was the joint top best I have ever had, equal to one I had recently in Perth Australia. In fact the whole place reminded us of there but 25°c colder. My wife had the chicken supreme which was also fantastic. The Australian Chardonnay was also excellent. Scott the chef did a fantastic job and the portions were generous. We need to go back to try a pudding. Steve & Linda👍😃.

The most amazing restaurant in the whole of Portsmouth! We had the steak sharer and it was amazing and we took it home ! Staff were amazing and so friendly, drinks were beautiful and the atmosphere was on point. Highly recommend, including the sweet and ice cream stand !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you Lexi and Lyndsay, and the chefs for a beautiful experience. We will be back 100 times over

Went today for carvery was ok nothing special wasn’t very hot desserts very good. Its not nice the pay before you eat, the card machine stuck in your face before you get a drink isn’t great. Service was pretty poor apart from the payment bit. There was an issue with another customer who got very upset and smashed a glass on the floor on purpose. Not sure what the argument with staff was about but the glass flew across the floor bits of glass hit us at the table. No apology from the staff about it, they were more worried about the people on the table next door, not the one a five year old and two year old were sitting at ! Also beware of you have little kids the scoops of ice cream are £2.50 each ! Wont be ever returning.

Updated due to company response clearly they didn’t read the review advertised at £10pp we were charge more a fair bit more than £10pp false advertising Advertised £10pp for carvery Certainly not £10pp we only realised after that should have only been around £36 including drinks we were charge over £50 and our drinks were not that expensive ! Service was slightly lacking for a lobster and steak house this was a trial run to see if we would try a second visit for steak unfortunately this has put us off.

Really good food and service! My only downfall would be they've got a huge range of cocktails and beers. But no 0% beers or mocktails. I'm in recovery and love the option of having one with my meal on a special occasion or meal out.

We have had so much fun tonight. The food was incredible but more than that the staff were so attentive, kind and fun it made our experience brilliant and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you Relentless x

The waitor was phemoninal as was my 🦞 lobster meal... My partner and I enjoyed our meal so much...and being a Naval chef myself ill say compliments to the chef.... oh and to my waitor again top lad soldier.

Food was amazing but the whole experience was made by the waiter Will. Amazing funny young man, couldn’t stop laughing the entire evening. Will definitely return and hope to see him again next time. If I could give more stars for everything I would!

Very disappointed, you have to pay before you eat and the food is nothing special I would not recommend this restaurant.

First visit here as I heard a lot of recommendations in the past, so decided to take my parents out for nice meal. First I had to book a table which you're charged £5 per head, although it's deducted from the bill... Came here around 1800 on Friday evening, and to our surprise it was nearly empty, just one table. At least food will come out fast hehe. We received two different food and drinks menus, so the items we wanted weren't on the one that it was supposed to be. We ordered 2 standard rib eye steaks as they didn't have any matured other than new York strip, this should be said at the very beginning but instead we have been told they will charge us straight after we place an order, which felt like we came here to do a runaway. The waitresses didn't look great, messy hair different outfits apart one young bloke that fit the steakhouse with his black suit👌🏻 Anyways we placed the order for 2 standard 12 Oz steaks and 2 seabreams and some sides. Order didn't take a lot time to find our table. Food was OK but steaks were looking more like 8 not 12. I do not think we will ever get back here after being treated like that 😒

Walked in, walked out. Greeted by college age kids who were polite enough. Got seated in a very cold restaurant, so chose to leave our coats on. Then too be told that the restaurants new concept is of payment for any orders must be up front before we even looked at the menu's. Now that too me, not only rude, but a judgemental move of instant distrust aimed at all customers who choose to visit the restaurant. The grab and run system this restaurant has chosen too adopt is obviously not designed too guarantee satisfaction too it's customers and any discrepancies with the food served would appear to be non negotiable. NOT the way to run a supposed high end restaurant or business. Will not be revisiting

Great service from Maria and the roast is always amazing

If you’re a foodie, you’ll find the food here well below what you’d expect for the price. The ingredients were clearly cheap and not particularly tasty, had the snails which were served like warm and had to pay £2.95 extra for a couple of cheap supermarket rolls. The steak itself was okay, but not consistently cooked and over done in places. The staff were friendly and helpful, just got the impression that it maximising profit at the expense of providing a decent meal at that price point.

Me and my wife went here on the 11th of December for a special night together got told all good things about this place so we was looking forward to it . It was a lovely place beautiful scenery and good atmosphere. We knew what we wanted as we googled it before we came and ordered our food straight away. We had a few drinks and wait for our food so like every man that I know we like Our steak done medium rare don’t mind a little bit blue however when our dinner come out My First half of my lobster was beautiful, however my steak was way over cooked We told the waitress and she Sorted it out, taking our food back and given us complimentary drinks when our dinner come back we got fresh sides and the steak was opposite my wife Steak very blue inside and she asked for medium rare a bit more medium as it was gonna be a thick steak and I asked for a medium rare I don’t mind it being too blue. My dinner come back with half the lobster I didn’t have and my steak which was blue which went from one extreme to another. My other half of my lobster was chewy and Rubbery and not as enjoyable as the first half But the service was really good and friendly the waitress help as much as she could just the food let us down as it was a lot of money probably wouldn’t go back for that reason

Well very disappointed tbh.. use to come here alot so suggested going Friday before heading to movies. .. Restaurant was cold asked to be moved still sat with coats on .. ordering was quite effortless .. food came out camembert pot had chip! . Daughter had steak had to pulled a hair from mouth... burger was bog standard probably would of got better from micks up hill or witherspoon ! ... toilets was cold dusty and rust over radiator. ... Iver all left feeling disappointed with what Ince was a lovely restaurant won't be going anytime soon..... shame

I’ve genuinely struggled with what to write about Relentless, I had really high hopes for dinner and the Menu sparked my interest. Pros We booked a table on the day we wanted to eat Free parking Seated quickly Cons Food wasn’t cooked right, medium Rare steak was cold and undercooked (both pieces). Gistly Steak and unseasoned too. I reminded them that I’d order sides and that my dinner came with chips as this didn’t come out with my main plate. My wife had the goats cheese and onion tart with pesto and sweet potato fries. Not much goats cheese on the tart, the tart is more of a flat bread than tart. Service seemed really good, we had a young guy with short hair, very energetic (has lots of brothers and sisters) he explained the prepay concept and we were happy to order, he then bought over our drinks and we paid. I genuinely felt bad that after we finished dinner our plates weren’t cleared and no dessert menu was offered despite waiting for around 10 minutes with plates stacked up ready. THEN I REALISED THAT THEY TAKE A TIP (service charge) BEFORE YOUR DINNER IS SERVED. He had folded the receipt for dinner over showing only the final balance as if to shield from my wife. We didn’t get to order dessert as I mentioned no one came over to take the order so we left and got it elsewhere. Over all it was ok, we left quite dissatisfied, had better steaks at a chain restaurant. Wouldn’t rush back to eat there.

We were struggling to find the restaurant and called for directions. We spoke to Will who gave very helpful directions and decided to come and find us (demonstrating amazing initiative). We received a warm welcome from Will who is an absolute credit to the establishment. The food was amazing (lobster outstanding) and the atmosphere was brilliant. Highly recommend this restaurant. Would definitely visit again.

Rather harsh ambience and cramped table arrangements. Unusually patrons are required to pay in advance of receiving their dinner. Made the place feel rather like a cafe. Portions were reasonable size.

Lots of different options, whether you're up for a burger, seafood platter, fine meal, or oyster and champagne snack.

An amazing night. Port Solent is a lovely place already. But Relentless is a well kept, clean restaurant, the food was brilliant (recommend the deep fried cockles, and Camembert mash!). Our server Will made our night with his high energy, high service ethic throughout the night. He made us laugh, whilst also making sure we didn’t want for anything. Highly recommend!

Very friendly and attentive staff ,the food was just superb mussels and scallops for starters were melt in the mouth my wife had paella which had sea bass king prawns ect ect the best she'd ever eaten. I had the fully loaded burger ,I can honestly say it was to die for I highly recommend relentless steak and lobster . Fair price for quality food 10-10

No issue paying upfront but don’t like being swindled out of a 10% service charge at the beginning of the meal and not told it was there. Only discovered service charge by overhearing it from another table. Poor quality food. The Muscles tasted like they were cooked in dishwater. Offered a free drink when should have been refunded the starter. The issue with paying upfront i suppose. Steak ok. Lobster not so much. More like a canteen than a restaurant.

AVOID!! This place does not value your custom. If you like fast food at restaurant prices, this is definitely the place for you. e.g.The fries were frozen ones that had been chucked in the deep fat fryer and the chicken wings came out of a bag from Aldi. We were over charged and when phoning up, they did admit that things had accidentally been added on. Shame on them. If they do that to everyone, they'll be making a tidy amount on the side. I'm expecting a rude comment from the manager, because he was extremely aggressive when I phoned up to talk to him. Please avoid. IF YOU READ THE MANAGER'S REPLY, NOTE THAT HE HAS LIED. I RECORD ALL MY CALLS ON AN APP AND HAVE PROOF THAT THEY OVERCHARGED AND THAT I DID NOT EVEN RAISE MY VOICE. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO NOTE THAT YOU CHARGED FOR THE ONE SAUCE THREE TIMES. Also, please check TripAdvisor reviews because this establishment seems to be making a habit of overcharging and being rude. This is how they are making money, by adding things that people have not ordered. This is dishonest, but if doing this to customers is how you make your money, then you have to live with yourselves. BTW the chips were nice. It was the fries that were frozen and deep fried. Have another look at your cctv and see all the burnt ones! Therefore you owe us the 10% service charge, as the food was not up to standard, plus the sauces you decided to charge for.

What an incredible find! Came here for our anniversary meal and it has become our favourite steak restaurant hands down. Traveled from Oxford to here. Better than miller and carter. Had the steak sharer for 2. All 3 meats was cooked perfectly. Asked for chefs recommendations across the meats and came out exactly as told. The most friendliest of welcoming from the staff and our host Charlie could go up for an award on top waitressing to be honest. Deserts here are some of the best I've had in a very long time. Sticky toffee is a must! And the Eton mess is sublime for a lighter option! 🤩 Will be back!

Absolutely SUBLIME restaurant. We ordered the steak experience for two with a extra side of half lobster and it did not disappoint at all. Well worth the money! All Steaks were cooked PERFECTLY to the chefs recommendation. Our waitress Charlie was incredible and so friendly and welcoming. She really added to our experience. We can not recommend this place enough. As FAR our new favourite steak house. P.s. the sticky toffee pudding and Eaton mess, also SUBLIME!...Also food coma pending! Absolutely amazing!

Food was fine. Steak cooked very well. Lobster was dressed well but missing some meat…. Service was good, atmosphere pretty poor. The wine selection was terrible, it’s a shame as better wines would complement the good food coming out of the kitchen. I ordered a £35 bottle of Italian red wine (no bottling data on it!) and we found the same bottle online for £10. We didn’t enjoy it and left most in the bottle. The people running it were really nice and couldn’t do enough. If there was every an opportunity to invest in a business then this is it. I never go down the middle on my reviews but for the first time this was neither good or bad.

Customers clearly not trusted as have to pay for food (INCLUDING SERVICE CHARGE) before receiving anything! Ordered tomahawk steak as pictures on Facebook look great but was very grisly, I know the cut will be a bit fatty but a lot was inedible, green beans missing. Another dish (flaming burger) was missing the sauce. First beer was warm and all they serve is large bottles that you get 3 for 5 in co-op for £7 each!! Side note: toilets are rank The restaurant was almost empty by 20:30 and half empty from 19:00 on a Saturday night!

Absolutely awful experience we went there tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary table booked for 7 30 by 8pm we still didn't have a drink and when we finally placed our order we got told 15 minutes later that the steak my husband had ordered was sold out he ended up having fish & chips when our drinks finally arrived our bottle of water was missing my steak was cold & full of gristle when asked if we wanted any sauces I asked for English mustard they didn't have any of that either the final straw was when my husband ordered a JD & coke & again they didn't have that we had decided that given the appalling service and lack of stock we wouldn't bother to order a desert a completely ruined evening and wedding anniversary this was our first & last visit here never again

Shocking! I’ve eaten here many of times and have said nothing but praises! But tonight, far from it, waiting an hour for starters with what I saw, not a very busy restaurant. Asking for a rare steak… it came out so blue it looked like it was cut off the cow and served straight onto my plate. Multiple different servers and all as arrogant. Being asked ‘am I sure’ if I wanted dessert. Trying to say I’m fat? Keep on coming round asking how everything was when we didn’t even start eating. The staff weren’t very aware that we were still eating, when asking ‘Are we finished’ I’m sorry to have to write this but I will not be eating here again.

Wife had steak and lobster and loved it. I had paella at it was okay. Staff very friendly and service was good.

10/10 food was brilliant but our waiter Will was exceptional, unfortunately its very hard these days to find a friendly, accommodation waiter who goes above and beyond and clearly loves his Job, he was especially great with our 11 year old son who decided to try the lobster and showed him exactly how to break it and eat it, Will was just so happy and just brilliant. It was our first time at relentless and he made it one to remember. Thank you so much Will.

Priced like it’s fine dining, but far from it. Prices on menu changed in a pen. Food was average, not sear on steak, peppercorn sauce like gravy. Nothing fine dining about the place. Pick and mix stand on way in, waiter didn’t know what the steak was he brought out, decor tacky, and broken.

We go to a lot of restaurants and this was out of this world! Waiter was amazing. Great service and food to die for!

Better than some of the reviews we read, the food was tasty, and service couldn't be faulted. We went at lunchtime during the week, it was quiet so couldn't comment on busier times.

Only just found this place recently and have been twice this week. Food is fresh and absolutely amazing. And the hostest Charlie who served us both time was so pleasant accomadating. Highly recommended

Great food and service. Moment we walked in, millie greeted us with friendliness and made us feel very welcome. She created a relaxed atmosphere and was very engaging to talk to. She gave great advice on the meat. The whole staff were friendly and easy to talk to. Great service all round and great food.

Fantastic food and a great atmosphere. There was a slight issue with our booking but Millie was very helpful sorted it very quickly. Furthermore Mille was very attentive and provided us with excellent service, I would visit again just off the back of her. The other staff were also welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be returning again.

we booked on line when we turned up they nothing on the system showed our confirmation and were told lucky it's not busy or you wouldn't have a table. the young lady serving our table was brilliant very attentive, never been asked to pay up front in a restaurant but i understand why when she told me they had people doing a runner. for the price of the food it was very average it looked like it had been chucked on the plate and sent out. i wouldn't go there again or recommend it to anyone.

My fiancé and I recently visited Portsmouth and were eager to try this restaurant for their lobster dishes. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst dining experience I have ever had. Upon arrival, we were required to pay upfront, which I found Fishy!. In hindsight, I wish I had read the reviews on their lobster dishes beforehand. I ordered the Lobster Steak Platter; while the steak was good, the lobster portion was severely lacking, with only meat in the tail and none in the rest of the body. When I raised my concerns, I was informed that the restaurant removes the head meat but it was have the body meat too for safety reasons. I suspect they use the meat in their lobster rolls instead. I requested to speak with the manager, but instead, a waiter came and argued with me about my complaint. The service was appalling, and I am astonished that they have received any positive reviews. Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience.

Saturday 25th May , a great vibe and even though it was very busy the service and the food quality was great. Surf and turf lobster and prime rib steak was delicious.

I would not recommend this restaurant. 1. You pay when you place your order 2. They charge you for items you never ordered and they do not give you a receipt unless you ask. Luckily we did and found that we're charged £16.90 EXTRA for items we didn't order. AND they added service charge. Which brings me to my next point.. 3. What service? No one batted an eye until I got up and stood by the counter to let them know I'm waiting to place an order. The waitress then took our order. Never asked about allergies, nor did she ask how well done we would like our burger patties. 4. The patties were over cooked. Lastly, I saw one of the staff members use their HANDS to pick out strawberries from a jar that was used to make a Cocktail. Hygiene is very poor and they should be reported.

Millie gave us a warm welcome, was timely in approaches to the table. She was the only server at our time of arrival and managed the restaurant well as other guests arrived too. Our son was grouchy on arrival having just slept on the way and we were offered a lolly pop to help perk him up. Very attentive to ours and our little boys needs, pleasant and friendly. The food was very good and we all thoroughly enjoyed it… we will be back again

Food was beautiful full of flavours. Milly was very cheerful and attentive. Definitely try the salt and chilly chips they were the best I have ever had.
