Food was very good! Fish and chips were my favorite.

Waitress very impatient and wrong my order. The taste is so-so!

We had the full English and it’s was very bland and not very nice.

Server had a sniffle. Allergies I hope. Hotel buffet style scrambled eggs and orange juice from concentrate. If I was a guest at the hotel I might not mind as much, at least they had gluten free bread. Amazing view of the sea on a cool spring day; with fresh food could be five star.

The moment enter to the restaurant we felt very unpleasant and not welcomed. As soon as we sat on the table we have been approached by a black and long hair moldovian waitress, a very rude and unpolite lady. When we ordered our food we was trying to explain food allergy, she decided not to take in consideration but instead to discuss with her colleague about our concerns in regards our situation, luckily I do speak the same language and I felt insulted and unsafe to eat the food. It's a nice place but you need to reconsider staff training and service. It is unacceptable to talk about your customers in such ridiculous way especially in front of them.

I was attracted by the reviews and frankly, only regrets It wasn't fresh, it was frozen and really tasteless. From starter to dessert I invite you to go your way if you are looking for a fish restaurant or simply a restaurant for that matter. Only the service was ok

I used to love this place; it was one of my favourite restaurants on earth. I'm not exaggerating. But lately they have started using a sound system playing loud music; and they have changed their whitebait recipe from little crispy pieces of heaven to un-crumbed and not very fresh-tasting fish with a lazy sprinkling of paprika. Hugely disappointing.

Everything was amazing. We ordered fish plate, prauns in a garlic oil, assorted fish. Highly recommend

In the UK, fish and chips are typical here, it's out of this world, how good it is, the best in all of the UK, the food in general is the best chefs in Brigthon. If I have to give a rating, the delicious numbers are not enough for me. It's always busy but the service is fast and not expensive.

A nice historic sea food restaurant by the sea. The place looks nice. Food is ok price wise but the waitress with a chewing gum in her mouth serving our food didn't look nice or professional..

The food was overall quite good, and the restaurant itself is beautifully designed with a luxurious ambiance. We were seated inside, which was still pleasant, but dining outdoors would definitely elevate the experience with the fresh air and stunning surroundings. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service, adding to the overall enjoyment of our meal. A lovely spot for a refined dining experience!

Eaten here twice. First time we hadn't booked but they fitted us in. Sadly it was right by the front door and we had people constantly overlooking us and banging into my chair. My Dad enjoyed his fish pie. I had the spaghetti marinara. The seafood was delicious but the sauce tasted like it had come out of a jar. It was extremely difficult the get the servers attention as we wanted a second round of drinks. Second visit we sat outside on a hot day. Restaurant wasn't that busy. My Dad Taramaslata was runny, like it had been watered down. The prawns in my prawn cocktails were rubbery and didn't taste fresh. I've had better prawn cocktail from Sainsburys. Again, my Dad enjoyed his fish pie. I had the deep fried fish with salad. The salad leaves were on the turn. I only got 1 prawn. The 3 whitebait were incinerated. The white fish was lovely. Even though it was quiet, it was a struggle to get the servers attention.

Most of the staff are great, but one or two are unfriendly. The food is excellent and of course the location is perfect. I'd rate it 5, were it not for some less than satisfactory service. 4/5.

The food is good. The service is excellent. Enjoy a good lunch there. The sardines and mussels are so fresh and tasteful.

Been coming for years and always enjoyed it, but WHY oh WHY have you changed the recipe for the garlic prawns?? They used to be the best on the planet! Service and quality of food otherwise was up to the usual high standard.

We went today to the restaurant with my wife to eat brekfast, my wife she find the hair in the egg. Asked nice to get a new brekfast. They apologaise and bring new one..... with hair again!!!! The bad thing was hair again under the napkin. Just go there and check your selff. Not recomend as this is very bad.!!!!!!!!!!

Totally disappointed yesterday we have eaten there before and enjoyed it but will be giving it a miss in the future. We both had the seafood platter the fish and prawn were fine. Everything else had been cooked to oblivion the white bait was rock solid it had been fried for so long, the squid was like chewing rubber bands and scampi well! Sorry folks but you won’t be seeing us again in the near future!

Food was lovely- I had garlic prawns and my friend the grilled hake. I did find the service a bit offhand and we had at least four people asking us if the food was ok without making eye contact, but it didn’t spoil the evening and would go back

We saw many insects on the tables at launch time. That pushed us away, we didn’t try it

We had 6 Oysters and Taramasalata for starters.A couple of draught Morati beers and a bottle of the excellent New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.We ordered Haddock & Chips Deep Fried Seafood Platter,Fried Cod & Chips & Grilled Fish Medley.Quailty was excellent,plenty of staff available the service quick and friendly.Would I go again.Definitely,been before and look forward to our next visit

Never i would say this but will not be in a hurry to return after the last experience, Have been coming to this restaurant for some years, but felt this time was get them in and out The staff seemed quite surly, seemed to be a quick turn over, not at all as it used to be, not such a comfortable experience. Food was overcooked and unappetising, Such a shame.

This place was so great the last time we visited Brighton 5 years ago, that we went again. We were not disappointed. Highly recommend the scallops and any of the fish with boiled potatoes (it seems wrong not to have chips but the potatoes are perfect!) Service by the host of servers was efficient and pleasant. We will come again!

Disappointing Experience at Regency Restaurant We recently visited Regency Restaurant in Brighton as a family, expecting a great meal, but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the food quality. Firstly, the chips had a very strange texture—stale on the outside yet overly creamy on the inside. This was unlike any chips we’ve had before and made us question the cooking process. It seemed like they may have been pre-cooked or frozen, fried at the wrong temperature, or possibly stored improperly before being cooked. Additionally, the fish (which we specifically ordered as haddock) was not only extremely watery but also didn’t seem like haddock at all. It had more of the texture and taste of cod, which made us question whether we received the correct order. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially as we had high expectations. We hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously to improve food quality and accuracy for future customers. Would not recommend this restaurant based on this visit.

have had the occasional delivery from this restaurant and the seafood is usually quite good but often the chips are absolutely horrid that spoils the overall experience!

18 of us pitched up for a Tuesday lunch and we were very well looked after. The menu offers plenty of choice and - since I’m not keen on seafood - I had the minestrone followed by cod and chips and both were delicious. Most people chose the scallops for a starter and they did look very nice. Can’t say much about the drinks as they were ordered by our party organiser but the Sauvignon Blanc and the Chardonnay seemed to go down well (I enjoyed a few Peronis). Despite the size of our group we found the service to be very friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Brighton.

The location of the restaurant is amazing, you can see the ocean! The menu has so many different items and price is very reasonable and portion size is really good! Great service as well!

Visiting Brighton, wen to Regency Restaurant with family. We had a nice time, great tasting food and generous portions too. Staff were really friendly and very attentive. We went there in a cold February evening so did not need to book but I can see this place getting busy in a warmer month. Highly recommend to eat here when visiting Brighton.

Really friendly service and great seafood

The food wasn’t the best and the staff are rude when trying to remove “discretionary” service charge. The word discretionary was not understood by the staff as they tried to force paying this from us. They also told us this means we will not be paying their wages, which is inappropriate.

Great fish and chips and very good service to accomodate a big group. Back again this week, and the same experience, lovely sercive, and even better food. Fish cod and chip is a must. And of course sweets at the end

The food was worse than mediocre. The fish was most probably very old cause it had a distinct smell.

I have to say, i have never had this bad fish and chips and salmon in my life. The fish was surely not fresh and it had no taste. I came here seeing the good reviews and i was utterly disappointed. The only good part of the entire meal was the tartar sauce. I tried the salmon steak and the battered cod. Everything else from the ambience to the staff were very good.

The meals are very delicious, especially the mussel and fried fish, paired with the Virgin Mojito, a perfect combination

Awesome restaurant with fabulous seafood.

Nice fish and chips and lobster was ok. Desserts were not good. Apple pie was microwaved so the pastry was a soggy dough and the profiteroles cream was curdled and off. If you can't serve brought in desserts properly, take it off the menu.

Went to this Restaurant just after new years during a visit to Brighton, the kids wanted fish and chips on the beach, but options were limited, We saw the Regency and after checking the prices which were very reasonable we went in out of the bitter wind. service was good and quick, we were seen to a table and our order was taken without delay. The food was a great quality, the batter was light, and we all enjoyed out food. Would visit again.

Went during the 23rd Dec so it was busy, despite the looking full, there was space so we quickly got seated. The scallop is great, soft and sweet, a must recommend. However, the spaghetti arrived cold, they probably must’ve waited for all the food to arrive to serve us. Overall, the food taste profile is more on highlighting the overall taste, texture, and freshness of the seafood. As an asian, sometimes I wanted some spicy seafood sauce to go along with it. But this time, I appreciate the overall simplicity and the freshness of the seafood coming though, the Mediterranean seafood platter I got though, the fish was pretty tough and not soft at all, the mussels were pretty small as well considering the price. I loved the scallops though. The shrimp cocktail was ok? I will pass it and try other things. Will come back again

Visited over the festive period. Spent £110.00 including mandatory service charge (that's a lot) on 4 fish & chips and few sides and a mixed platter. And soft drinks. Firsty I say the place had nice decor and service was good. The food came awfully quick after I placed the order. (Within 5 mins). The fish was average. Nothing special . The platter was not that good. I assume it's a popular place as a few celebs have eaten there in thr past . (pitures on the wall as you go down to the bogs).

I was really disappointed with the Christmas Day meal. It was definitely not how I expected it to be. The stuffing was very overdone, not many potatoes and the carrots were overdone too! Portion size for desserts are too much as well. I would only recommend this place for Fish & Chips

Terrific lunch for six and a baby. We all chose different fish dishes (and I had oysters). Very good service. I first ate here 50 years ago and love to go when I visit Brighton from the NE. Never disappoints.

Nice seafood in a relaxed setting

On a wet and windy night in Brighton the restaurant was not that busy but we still enjoyed the evening Friendly staff gave us a good welcome Excellent menu with plenty of delicious options The Dover Sole and Sea Bream were excellent Not expensive

Casual lunch in excellent surroundings. FOOD WAS SUPERB. I had the special, grilled skate and Greek salad. Wife the seafood risotto Both fab.Negroni and Margerita cocktailswere lovely too.Overall excellent. Great staff.

Fish & chips are absolutely amazing there. Mixed Grilled are not that outstanding but acceptable. Service was quite rude when we entered but better gradually when we were seated. Such a good dinner with family members.

Amazing food on an amazing summer day!

We were in Brighton for a concert and parked in Local car park. We decided to try restaurant as looked busy for a Tuesday evening. As approached the door a staff member opened the door with the menus in hand. We sat down and were quickly served. They have a very good menu with a specials board. We had the Calamari to share to start followed by fried plaice and grilled Skate. I also had the Creme Brulee desert. All of it was delicious and service was very good. Prices I think reflected both quality of food and level of service. An excellent restaurant with good staff . Highly recommended

If you like good old fish and chips this is a must visit restaurant in Brighton. The service was excellent and the staff all very profesional, i must say the fish and chips one of the best i have had in a long time. The restaurant is located on the sea front.

Dining spoilt by rude and offensive service from what I assume is the manager or owner (older chap with pony tail). He was just plain rude - almost as if he begrudged having customers to wait on. I took some visiting overseas guests who were keen to have classic Fish & Chips and I was embarrassed by treatment and rudeness from this guy. I have never experienced this sort of off hand handed/rude service from any restaurant ever. I was shocked and embarrassed for my guests. I wont be dining there again.

I stopped in for a quick coffee and was served promptly. There was an outdoor heater, and as I looked inside, I could see that the staff were very efficient, and the food looked amazing.

It was average. Service not bad, food was below average. Atmosphere below average.

Overcooked lobster Thermidor and the service was poor and loud. Had the waiters right next too me talking in another language looking at us couldn’t talk and hear our conversation and poorly treated when I questioned something about our food which cost £132. Will not recommend and won’t attend ever again

Meet up with friends who recommend we eat here. As we walked through the door everything started on s positive note. Friendly cheerful staff, lovely, clean and well laid out tables. The food was excellent at very sensible prices. We all made different choices of main course, and everyone was very happy with what they had.

First off wheelchair UNFRIENDLY! Food very average at best ! Service get you in and get you out as fast as possible! Waiters ! Well not waiters at all Just people to put food and drinks on your table and it seemed a chore to do so! First and last visit Not only my opinion but all 4 of us Will not visit again !

I use to love this place, and would make an effort to eat there a couple of times a year. Sadly I have been put off. Food is lovely…… but a waiter who uses his hand to wipe a snot string from his nose and then wipes on his T-shirt is not acceptable and lacking in basic hygiene.

The best seafood I've ever had, and you should know I've been in Loch Fines. The grilled swordfish blow my mind!

Prompt service, friendly and helpful staff, good sized meal portions served on hot plates(Well done!). Cod and chips was very nice and tasty, crisp batter and just enough mushy peas. The grilled plaice someone else ordered also looked very nice and got a good review. Good range of drinks available.

Very disappointed with this experience. The dose of the mussels marinière was ridiculous (19 pounds all the same). It’s a shame they were pretty good. The desserts were very average, industrial. Too bad for a so-called institution.

This restaurant features a variety of wonderful seafood. This pigeon especially enjoyed the sauce of 'The Mediterranean' as well as its delicious food. There's quite a lot of people here and many staff as well, which is good. Staffs are friendly, food is nice, drinks are also cool, making this restaurant a great place to eat. Scallops were tasty as well, this pigeon would recommend you to try them out! I had a nice meal. 🍤🐠🐋🦞🦀🦐🦑 😋

Gorgeous piece of seabass with a "small" selection of potatoes & very nice jus. What made me laugh though was "Spotted Richard" REALLY !!! it's Dick, my other complaint was the pudding portion size was small & not enough custard, otherwise it was tasty.

Always delicious food. Standard fish and chips done very well. This time tried the grilled garlic king prawns and the fish pie -- both vert tasty! Three courses with glass of wine was £40.

Delicious garlic prawns and scallops, mackerel pate good. Lovely fish and chips. Minestrone was a bit watery and not enough veg really. Would recommend.

Eaten here many times and would've given it 5 stars before. Today had poor food compared to usual. Chips were luke warm at best, and chicken burger not good quality for cost. Will be finding elsewhere in future.

NOT WORTH THE RISK - I've eaten here a couple of times, been good before but recently had the seafood and the mussels were RANCID and clearly gone off. The great atmosphere isn't worth the risk of food poisoning imo

Family get together in Brighton & heard great reviews about this restaurant. Really great regency building/interior looks authentic. The food excellant but the staff were overpowering & pushy which was a shame!

Food is very very very expensive. On top of it, there is extortionate charges on service charge which is included in the bill. ... most places that is an option. Felt scammed since the chips especially was so little. The fish was amazing. Best I've had so far in brighton.

I have just had one of the most disappointing lunch experiences ever. I had booked a table as a solo diner. When I arrived I was met at the door by a very rude man who was very intolerant and unfriendly when I was saying I'd booked, claiming he couldn't hear me. He then marched off, so I followed, and I was then seated at what I think must have been the worst seat in the restaurant. Right next to the kitchen entrance, with a baby pram parked next to me and the waiter station. The restaurant was half empty but I wasn't given a choice of much better seats - presumable as I was there alone. The better seats remained empty during the time I was there. My chair was kicked several times during my meal by staff going in and out of the kitchen and at one point one of the staff actually kicked my foot (she did apologise). Service was very quick and my food appeared very quickly. The scampi was not nice at all - very slimy. I couldn't decide if it was undercooked or just very poor quality. It's not how I've had scampi before. I was not approached at all during my meal to check if everything was OK, despite being right under the noses of all the waiting staff! When my plate was cleared away (I left most of it) I was asked if everything was OK. I said no, it wasn't very good at all. There was no acknowledgement of this, no apology or further questions. I paid the bill and left. 40 minutes after walking through the door. Not the nice, relaxing Sunday lunch I'd hoped for.

I don’t get the hype and the popularity. It was crazy busy with lots of reviews which gets you excited no? The food was like any other seafood spot in the city, a little more bland even, just extremely overpriced. Service was ok. They care more about getting as much people in and out rather than actually providing a good experience. Would not be going again.

The best seafood I've tried in the area, good sized portions, reasonably priced!

For starters I ordered dozen oysters (£34). The plate was too small, there were no disinfectant wipes to clean hands afterwards. For the Main I ordered Regency Seafood Risotto (£17.95). The rice was undercooked, the prawns were undercooked also, the calamari slices were undercooked too. The food was overflowing with tomato sauce. When I complained to the waiter, I didn't get an apologyan apology, instead he said that the chef didn't use Basmati rice, but ordinary, and I should have complained earlier, because he would have cooked the rice himself. Poor customer service.
