Regency Chinese Restaurant in York

Fantastic meal with my wife using a Groupon voucher. The food was excellent really tasty and plenty of it Staff really polite, helpful and friendly. Couldn't understand why there where not more people in. This is the second time that we have been in and it gets better each time, lots of takeaways going out, but lots of room in the restaurant. Amazing beef chow mein, beef in black bean sauce, meat spring rolls salt and pepper chips and prawn crackers. we will be back!

Not sure very nice staff waiting on,very quiet customer wise ,very good value for money but staff should not be eating near you on phone watching something spoilt us being able to talk to each other

Im pretty sure there's other restaurants with the same name and people are getting reviews mixed up, this restaurant on George Hudson Street doesn't relate to any of the bad reviews, we visited and although quiet it soon filled up, food was obviously cooked fresh and with good ingredients, everything we ordered tasted great and came in good size portions, service was also great and couldn't be faulted, this isn't a buffet style and food is ordered in the normal style, can't fault service ir food, would definately return

Beef horfun was really good and so was the sweet and sour pork. I was sceptical at first due to the bad reviews but was craving for Chinese food so I gave it a try. Totally no regrets! Now I think some of the bad reviews may be just people being racist! Highly recommended if you want good quality and authentic Chinese food!

Salt and pepper chicken - underwhelming flavour and literally rock hard, so stale that it sounding like a stone when I tapped it on my desk Beef chow mein - No flavour at all, beef was poor quality, mostly undrendered fat, not seasoned at all and cooked at far too low a temperature for it to ever retain its flavour. Salt and pepper chips - some chips tasted like they'd been reheated multiple times throughout the day and some were raw potato, but they all shared an absence the key ingredients - no salt or pepper anywhere! The tiny bit of onion and chilli slices were the tastiest parts of the entire meal!

The Regency is a traditional Chinese eatery frequented by several local Chinese customers (which is always a good sign). Unusually, the restaurant adjoins a Chinese supermarket operated by the same company. There’s a huge selection of dishes at reasonable prices- I had a king prawn dish which was excellent, one thing to remember though is that traditional Chinese chicken dishes include a lot of bone!

A good restaurant but not quite full marks. Turned up at lunchtime when only one table occupied, had to wait between 5 and 10 minutes for somebody to come and acknowledge us, so a bit disappointed by the lack of initial attention. Asked for a table for two, just got pointed in a direction without being shown to the table. Presented with an extensive menu so plenty of options, food arrived quickly enough and had been freshly prepared. Happy with the food but nothing to make it reach the "outstanding" category, certainly no problems. In summary, good food but nothing that went above and beyond. Greeting customers upon arrival could be improved.

The food took 3 hours to arrive… I called multiple times and was told continuously that it would take 10 minutes but it didn’t. The food was also cold and salty!

I ordered from here at about 9:30pm. The food arrived quickly and was hot, it was definitely fresh. As a vegetarian I’d strongly recommend the “mock chicken/duck” dishes they have, they were really good and make a nice change from just veg. The salt and pepper chips & box is really good as well. Also, the apple fritters were amazing - I’m talking properly deep fried apple fritters with syrup, they were phenomenal. Great serving size and value for money. Id definitely recommend.

Just encase you were even contemplating visiting this “restaurant” please know that they actively delete bad reviews to try and save their reputation. If you’re vegetarian or vegan please be aware because they couldn’t give a frick and will not accommodate for you - thanks.

We waited for 3 hours for our delivery. Called the restaurant 3 times and were told a different story every time and finally told us they hadn't cooked our meal. Had to cancel the order as we couldn't wait any longer. Very unprofessional, will never use again. Very disappointed as we are trying to support local businesses as much as possible during the pandemic.

We ordered Chinese in for our tea in front of the telly. An hour and a half wait, and then the food was inedible. We started with crispy duck pancakes. Which came as a kit. I'm not kidding, they can't even be bothered to make their own pancakes. The duck was clearly a carcass rammed through a grinder, utterly full of pieces of bone, and I'm not even sure if the sauce is meant to be hoi-sin or what.Szechuan beef is not dark brown, and should have enough chilli in it to taste. I don't know what my partner ordered, but she only got two forkfulls into it before giving up too. Even the rice was cold.Do not eat here.

Don’t be fooled by the all you can eat buffet, whilst you can order an all you can eat for a set Price it is not a buffet. You order from the main menu and is cooked to order. Service was excellent except for one member of staff. I ordered the duck with bbq sauce and it arrive with another sauce in which I knew I could not eat, I asked for it to be replaced and this particular member of staff who I had not asked and had previously been a bit arrogant came over and told my boyfriend not me that the sauce I had was a better one and walked away making me feel like I had no choice and that was the one I was getting. My boyfriend wasn’t accepting that and persistently asked for it to be changed. The food itself was absolutely lovely and I would recommend it hence my 3 stars and the atmosphere was brilliant, quick service and one girl in particular customer service was outstanding very polite, lovely welcoming face with a lovely warm smile. Would eat here again but the other gentleman’s attitude made me feel really uncomfortable and the false advertising of “buffet” really pulls the restaurant down.

stayed around the corner in lawrence st , was reccomended this establishment , not disapointed ,all you can eat for £15.99, you pick of the extensive menu ,and it is cooked to order, you may order as many times as you want witin a 2 hour table time ,food is very good , but excessive wastage will be charged at full price ( good idea). staff helpfull and freindly , retaurant is modern & clean.will return .

Whilst it's classed as an "all you can eat" set price buffet meal, it is specially cooked to order and is authentic Chinese food.We decided to eat here again because out first visit last year was excellent. At 6.30 in the evening it was full with Chinese families dining and we managed to get the last available table. The order was was taken and the first course was cooked to order and was on our table within 10 minutes even though they were extremely busy. The main course was cooked fresh and ready within a short time of ordering.It is a set price but a "wastage charge" is levied if too much food is ordered and not eaten, but you can order your food and if you need more then that can be ordered later.I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like authentic Chinese food and good value for money. We will definitely be back there next time we are in York.

We were staying in Fulford Road and wanted an evening meal nearby. The Regency restaurant seemed to have reasonable prices. Having visited China, the food at Regency seemed authentic and we enjoyed it very much. The menu seemed rather confusing, but the quality of the dishes we ordered was good. There were a few groups of Chinese students, who came, ate a pre-ordered meal and left. The price was very reasonable.

Unfortunately the bean sprouts were half hot half cold. The chicken was thin strips and the sauce had no taste of curry to it. The rice was great but all in all the meal had no taste and was just awful. I did tell the lady who asked "if everything was OK" but fell on deaf years.

I visited York recently and had the good fortune to dine at The Regency Chinese Restaurant. This place is the real deal. It’s not necessary to go to a fancy, relatively much more expensive restaurant in any of this country’s Chinatowns - if you’re in York, then I implore you to try the food here. Firstly, do not be put off by the appearance of the restaurant (more on this later) - I’m sure a wise person (but not Confucius!) once said never to judge a book by its cover! Wise words indeed, and 110% applicable in this case. One of my favourite Chinese dishes is the Three Meat Roast (Roast Duck, Crispy Pork and Char Sui) - usually accompanied with boiled rice but also available on its own (as it was when I ordered here). I’ve eaten this dish in a lot of restaurants and The Regency’s Three Meat Roast is one of the best I’ve ever had in the UK (comparable with the standard in Hong Kong). The crispy pork in particular was spot on flavour-wise - the skin roasted just right. I also tried the Geleshan Chicken - a truly authentic Sichuan speciality spicy dish - which was also fantastic. We also had Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings as a starter dish, which were delightful.Finally, I would like to present a counter argument to Escape5329’s (one of the recent reviews below mine) comments about the appearance of the restaurant. Have you ever spoken to anyone who has said that, when one goes abroad - could be mainland China, Hong Kong, somewhere else exotic - they tend not to go to a fancy restaurant but somewhere very low key and unassuming, even deceptive (as in the sense its not what you expected). Perhaps where the locals all eat. The reason, they say, is because that’s where the best food is, and that applies tenfold to The Regency Chinese Restaurant. I’ve been to Hong Kong many times and the places that serve the best food (especially the Roasted Meat dishes) all looked like The Regency. I do believe the appearance is modelled (believe it or not) on the “quick stop” style diners that you’ll find along the stretch of Hong Kong’s famous Nathan Road, with the Chinese Roast Duck hanging in the window, drawing punters in off the streets to get a fulfilling meal as they navigate their busy lives. In that sense, The Regency Chinese Restaurant is authentically Chinese in every sense.

heard good things, they where wrong ! ordered sizzling fillet steak, told not fillet, asked how about sirloin ? no, probably will be beef, which it was, it sizzled thats all you can say, did not change price to reflect cheaper cut . of meat. I ordered sea bass came about 35 mins after steak, egg fried rice cold. service like they where doing you a favour serving you. Go to red chilli costlier but well worth it, avoid regency at all costs

We fancied a Chinese meal having walked around York for a while. We had driven past this place on our way in. It doesn’t look much from the outside and when we walked in we almost walked out again. It is not what you might expect a Chinese restaurant to look like. Firstly, it is attached to a Chinese supermarket which seems a bit odd at first. Furthermore, as you walk in it has the feel of a transport cafe. One long counter, odd plastic seating and oddly lit menu screens surrounding you. We decided to stay for two reasons; we were really hungry and reviews had been good. There was only one couple other than us in (it was only lunchtime in the middle of the week). A rather confusing menu was supplied with some unhelpful pictures alongside the Chinese writing. However, we successfully navigated through it and ordered an all you can eat type of feast. The food surprisingly was fantastic (honestly). We ordered 2 soups, 2 starters, 3 mains, rice and noodles for the two of us and it cost us £9.95 each. Somewhere that looked like a truck stop turned out to be the best Chinese meal I have had. I imagine the experience to be akin to accidentally finding a pearl inside an oyster. Well worth a try if you are nearby. Loses a star simply for being too much like a motorway service station in appearance only.

It was the second night of our stay in York and we felt like staying in and eating in our rented accommodation. We had a wander down the road and came upon this little gem, what a find! Superb restaurant which was basic but spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered our takeaway, which arrived very quickly and off we went. We were amazed at the size of the portions and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

A group of me and my University friends went to the Regency for lunch and they offer a fantastic range of ramen deals alongside starters and main courses. Good atmosphere.

Visited with my Chinese wife and she was very pleased with the authentic options of dishes to choose from and the quality was very good. If you like authentic rather than westernized Chinese food it is well worth a visit.

We have been there for a few times and this had happen before.They have got takeout menu and eat in menu there. But they will always charge you a higher price. I ordered something to take away with me (at the restaurant) and when I pay, they charged me a little higher so I asked them why.What they did was they charged me £1 extra for each dish and hope I wouldn’t know as when I paid, they took my contactless card away and pay using contactless without showing me what’s on the card machine. When I confronted them, the manager/ owner I guess (a lady) answered me, saying that they have put the price up recently and didn’t get a chance to update their menus. She gave me back the difference in cash but then when I got the food, it’s almost half the size I used to get. And what others got as I have friends ordered there.Very upset and angry about this.Don’t go there! It’s a scam! They charge a different price than what’s on the menu!!

Great place to go pre-show. If we'd had more time we would have ordered off the 'all you can eat' buffet menu which looks very good value at £15.99 per person. Large, very tasty portions were served promptly.

Got a delivery , crap , two portions of fried rice was like a rice pudding ,really bad , never again , lemon chicken cold , they came from 1 mile away , please please go elsewhere .

We had a home delivery, the food arrived hot, it wasn’t nice - the soup tasted funny and the sauce had chillies in it even though it wasn’t a hot sauce - service bad Never again

Have a la carte menu which has some truly ghastly, or some might say authentic, Chinese dishes on it, if that is your thing....no part of the animal is wasted! Stuck to the buffet type....order as much as you want and it is cooked fresh to order.....a concept I enjoy. Service was with a smile and very efficient. Food itself was very nice indeed and came quickly. Price was fair although the outside advertised buffet price is less than when you actually go in which is a bit poor. Very convenient for The Barbican....5 minute walk. Big place so can normally get a seat no problem. Many Chinese people too so they must be doing something right. Recommended and will be back.

Roast duck is our favourite , we pre-ordered some live seafood from them scallops; lobster; sea bass; squid ; razor clam; oyster. they turned into this incredible banquet for the 10 of us . We enjoyed the service very much as food were served fresh to order but not slow at all . We had a great birthday celebration , I will definitely come back for my next visit to York . Last but not least , it;s environmental friendly too , nice and bright inside , makes the restaurant look very clean and neat .

Whenever I want to eat Chinese food, I always go to this restaurant and I always get a warm welcome from a lady at the restaurant. Food is so good and authentic. I love prawns with salt and chilli. It’s sooo good. Their lunch course is pretty good with cheap price. Recommended.

Could find no one who knew with certainty where this place was, including a taxi driver! But we did eventually find it and were shown upstairs - it’s definitely not the poshest of places! But the food was of a really good quality and service was reasonably smiley. I’d definitely go again.

I arranged a family get together for 8, no issues, the food arrived promptly, hot and fresh ! Restaurant was really clean and tidy, maybe a little quiet, despite the recent bad press at their other restaurant, but would highly recommend a visit. all our party agreed the food was great. !

Myself, my Husband and Daughter visited York for the weekend and ate here Saturday Lunchtime for my Daughter's 17th Birthday. We chose from the Lunchtime Buffet Menu. It isn't your traditional buffet where the food is already out in the warming tins, it is cooked fresh once you've chosen what you want from the menu, which I personally think this is a much better way than eating food that may have been left warming for hours! Anyway we all chose different starters and mains so we could share. The food was the best I have eaten in a long time. We had crispy seaweed, prawn toast, vegetable spring rolls and my Husband had chicken and sweetcorn soup to start and for mains we had chicken curry, beef in oyster sauce, chicken chowmein, special foo young and egg fried rice. Everything tasted absolutely amazing, especially the foo young which normally to me tastes like omelette but this was the best i've ever tasted. I would definitely recommend and we will go again the next time we visit York.

Took 20 mins for her to bring the drinks and then they were wrong but still tried to charge for the beer instead of the lemonade she brought. Service was so very slow even when they were justvstabding around doing nothing. Asked twice for spring rolls that never appeared as with the rice and the prawn sweet and sour was wrong also. They don't really seem to care about the customer and pay very little attention!

Called in for the all you can eat deal which is advertised on the windows, however we were given 2 separate menus one for lunch specials and one full menu with individual prices. Once we asked about the all you can eat deal they brought us the right set. It's an all you can eat place but rather than being a buffet you have to order it. The food is cooked to order this way but it is difficult to know how much to order especially if it's your first visit and you don't know the portion size. Food was ok, service was patchy despite the place being almost empty, pricing was very reasonable though

There were 7 including a child we had the all you can eat buffet we have eaten there numerous times before. My wife was eating the sea food and black bean sauce and end up pulling a piece of wire from her mouth. We informed the manager who said it was from a brush they clean the ovens yuk made my wife feel sick at the thought of a wire in her mouth thank god my son didn’t get it. We were offered free drinks on reflection we should have had free meals should have taken a photo . We will not be eating there again. My wife and sister in law had real bad indigestion all night with bad stomach ache and have not eaten today and yesterday that was the only meal we had

Real chinese, not european chinese! One of the best I ever had! If someone don’t like it - don’t know what good and healthy food means!

We passed by and were drawn to the adjoining Chinese supermarket. A huge choice of lunch options and the fact it was spotlessly clean nailed it.A ‘buffet’ which is basically a la carte cooked to order was, mainly, excellent. Mixed platter and soup were hot and tasty, and not salty which was a great surprise. Additional spring rolls were sent back as they were still ice cold in the middle.Excellent Singapore vermicelli and egg fried rice (though latter not really hit enough) were good choices. The crispy beef was quite chewy and not to our tastes. Drink prices were very high, except for the Chinese tea which was delicious.Would revisit.

Possibly the worst takeaway order I have ever had. The food took over 2 hours to arrive, was stone cold, the 'deep fried chicken' turned up as boiled chicken, and the salt and pepper chicken wings had clumps of short blonde hairs stuck into the batter. After finding that, no one wanted to touch any of their food- no surprise!

Authentic Chinese food, reasonably priced with generous portions. We were heartened to see so many Oriental customers...... always a good sign. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, would recommend and will certainly return the next time we are in York.

Having found myself very peckish on a dull afternoon in York I found myself having a confusing meal - the restaurant is clean and tidy and will never run out of ingredients as it has an attached supermarket. The prices in the window must be for takeaways, when I received 3 menus when I sat down the prices were a lot different - I disregarded the all you can eat menu at just short of £16 as I wasn't that hungry and I was the only customer - I always hit a Chinese restaurant if I am in a hurry and a special curry is the the easy choice - there was also a drinks menu which is fairly priced with a choice of bottles of lager at £3-10 but the total bill for a very average special curry with the drink was £15+ - the toilets are very modern and clean but even then it didn't add up to recent TripAdvisors recommendations

This is a great place to experience proper Chinese food. When you visit there are two menus. One offered to everyone and one if you ask for it. This is the "Dim Sum" menu where the nice roasted duck and pork can be ordered from. I eat a lot of Chinese and I assure you this is one of the good ones. I go there whenever I visit York. Is not the best ambience you can find but the food quality is good and the prices reasonable.

Third visit to the Regency. The individual menu is comprehensive, the staff friendly, the food delicious, can't fault it. Spotless, friendly staff and EXCELLENT food. Top eaterie.

Went to the karaoke last night and the bar have a minimum spend £12 at the bar!! No bank set this as a minimum and it’s just a way of robbing people! When they missed an item off my order they were reluctant to let me pay the £7 yes £7 for a rum and coke but they did which shows you that you don’t actually need to spend £12! Will not be returning to you!! The guy in the purple shirt was also rude!

Excellent the way they accomodated 11 of us on a Friday night without a booking the resteraunt was full so we waited about 15mins. We chose the all you can eat menu everything was lovely if i did have any issues it would just be my preference that the food be served a little hotter.

Went for a Family birthday and had the All you can eat for £15 Superb food, all freshly cooked to order, not sat in hot trays like some placesWe certainly had our money's worth, lots of little portions to try, not just big platefuls Service was outstanding, never seen so many waitresses who were all very helpfulLovely ambience in the restaurant tooA MUST visit!

Me and a couple of friends have ordered from Regency a few times and got delivery. The prices are decent for the food that you get. Nice sized portions, especially the chips. Our 2 favourite dishes from here has to be the sweet and sour chicken and any of the salt and pepper dishes. They are delicious, although the salt and pepper shredded chicken was very dry. We ordered off of just eat and it said our food would be delivered in an hour. I believe that we got our food in under an hour (approx 45-50 minutes). Very impressed. When the food got to us, it was as hot as can be expected with delivery, but it wasn’t like it had been sat for ages. Overall a good experience. Will order from here again.

Working in York and after work I fancied a Chinese so I found this place. The waitress offered me the all you can eat option which seemed like good value. I ordered a starter (crispy shredded beef.... Didn't enjoy this, it was hard as pork scratchings!) and a main (sweet and sour pork and special fried rice) this was very nice. The portion of sweet and sour was small, l but no problem as it was an all you can eat so I could order more.... So I thought! The waitress took my empty plate and I sat there waiting.... And waiting... and waiting. When she had finally finshed talking to her colleague behind the counter I managed to get her attention. She said 'you want to pay your bill?' I said no I would like more food, I thought it was all you can eat!No... You can't take food away was the reply. I said I don't want to take away I wanted more food at the table and for you to serve me as a customer not leave me sat there waiting for over 20 mins. 'Ok, so you want to pay now?' Was the reply....By this time I was frustrated and I had enough I told her I wasn't happy and I will pay and go. I would understand if it was busy but there was only 5 other people in there. I asked for a VAT receipt and guess what... No vat number on the receipt. She had to go into the supermarket next door to get the VAT number.I defiantly won't be returning here!

This doesn't look much from the outside but appearances can be deceptive. It was a good sign to see many chinese families eating here. We went in and sat at a large round table with a lazy susan and had the all you can eat buffet. We didn't over order so it wasn't too over-facing. The food was excellent - tasted freshly cooked to order and large portions. The staff were friendly and they sold Tiger beer plus over local beers. You could even have fruit and ice cream as part of the deal. Cheap and cheerful and tasty!

The layout of the restaurant is not what you expect in the traditional sense like the red chilli restaurant across the road, I imagine this is more like the typical restaurants you'd find in China. Expect a more diner type experience. The staff were fantastic and didn't come with the stereotypical language barrier problems you'd encounter in a authentic Chinese restaurant, they were very attentive (but the dining space is not very big). The two of us were tempted with the all you can eat buffet (not a buffet actually, chose what you want off the menu and it is cooked for you) approximately £16 per head. The only thing that put us off was the sign 'you pay for wastage', we are well know for over ordering when hungry. Nevertheless a great idea if there are a group of you.We opted for set menu for two for only an extra £3 extra each. Which was also too much for us, the difference being this excess we were allowed to take home with us.What's more...Free Dessert, fruit and jelly only but it's a lovely sentiment.The food excellent, service great! Looking forward to heating up my leftovers for supper.The only downside side was my wine came to my table not chilled and no ice bucket, it wasn't rice wine in case you wonder.A finger bowl for my mixed starters would have been a nice touch. The prices on the normal menu I though slightly overpriced compared to some Chinese restaurants, but based on the quality of the food well worth it.A definite place for any Chinese food lover. As a harsh restaurant critic normally...It is in my opinion the best in York to date!

We went here for the lunchtime 'buffet', the buffet counter was empty. We asked about the buffet to be told 'yes it is a buffet but we serve it at the table'. That should have rung alarm bells but we were hungry. We chose our meals from the very reasonably prices 3 course menu which should have been, soup, starter and main meal. First, two out of the four soups arrived, then two out of the four starters. Weird. Then the other starters arrived and then the other two soups. Whilst one person was trying to decide whether to finish the soup or the starter first before it went cold, their main course arrived. So the main course was going cold whilst they finished their starter. Then another main arrived, and finally the two remaining main courses. Whilst the food was OK and good value, the service was a shambles. Which is probably a good description for a place in York. Would we go again? Not unless the proper buffet is reinstated.

Ordered takeaway from this restaurant when visiting York. Food is decent but nothing special. Prices are fair. Speedy, if a little unfriendly service.

We booked the restaurant and Karaoke room well in advance, months ago, so you think we'll be ok, we'll not at all.Shortly before our booking, ''telephone call'', we are very busy can we reschedule, ''no problem'', so we arrive and it's bursting at the seams, bus full of Chinese children, 25 minutes later, we finally got to sit down, taking into account we arrived at their specified time, we were a little surprised, but then the fun began, we were offered two options, Buffet Menu, or Standard menu, so then the order was taken, some going for each option, we were then asked if we wanted Standard main meals fetched at the same time as starters for the buffet, which we agreed to, the one Vegan in the group ordered vegetable rolls, I ordered my meal of Curry and rice, they fetched my rice and some meals for others, this is going on, so to conclude, the Vegan Spring rolls arrived 1/2 hour later along with my Curry, not surprisingly my rice was cold, which was taken away but was still cold when it was returned, and finally, the buffet main meals never arrived, the outcome was, we were charged for meals we never had, even though they said they hadn't, and it had been my worst experience in a restaurant ever.Now to the Karaoke, we had booked it for 2 hours, but after the delay we only had 1 hour left, after what had gone before, maybe you would think, oh they'll let you have it for nothing, no, we still had to pay £3 pp, and it was awful, it felt like you were in a knocking shop, it was tiny and boiling hot, don't think we'll be going there again, no I know we won't be going there.Oh! Yes the drink prices were extortionate too.

Ordered takeaway for 4 people. Service good however the food was poor quality , very oily and no flavour. Ordered egg fried rice which was unrecognisable, was boiled fice with yellow colouring, no egg and covered in oil. Also ordered chow me in and chicken with cashew nuts. I would not recommend this takeaway.

We visit chinese places everywhere as my wife is chinese. This was among the worst. Service was not great but the food was terrible. We like pig intestine and they did not clean it well enough. Uggh. They turned one of our favorites into something inedible. Disgusting.

We were looking for a Chinese in York lucky for us we found this one. Nice surroundings comfortable and nice staff. The menu is buffet style mainly with lots of choice. The food is cooked fresh and they bring it in small quantities as much as you want. They then come back and take further order if you require at 16 quid it is reasonably priced for all you wish to eat buffet. There is nothing hanging about. Recommended for a buffet chinese.

Although advertised as a buffet, here you pick your buffet off a menu. As we knew what the dishes were it was an excellent if unusual meal, but not sure it would work if you didn't know what the dishes were.The food was all excellent and I think that goes for the whole party. I didn't hear any complaints. I really loved the sweet and sour pork. Portions are smaller than you might get if you loaded up at a normal buffet but you can carry on ordering if you want more. You will need time though especially if it is busy.An unusual venue but I will go again.

Fancied Chinese food during our visit to York. Hate Bain Marie warmed food so this was a delight. All you can eat freshly made individual dishes just for you. And you can just keep ordering until you can eat no more. Great food

We found the food is freshly cooked and hot but the service is lacking, there only seemed to be 1 waiter on duty and he was very abrupt. We have been to the Regency a few times but we wont be rushing back

First visit to this restaurant, had lovely service, excellent food and it is not overpriced.You select your starters then when finished you select your next course and so on until you have had sufficient. Not a very fancy place but clean and comfortable.Shall definitely be going again.

....The but. Don't bother going if you are only used to Westernised Chinese takeaways.If you do understand what you are eating please go, the food is hot, delicious and quickly dispatched by friendly staff. Didn't opt for the Westernised menu, went for the other one and very glad I did.Lovely fresh authentic dishes, very well cooked. One of the better paces to eat in York.
