Regards is now Mezban apparently! Really enjoyed our visit, food is great, service s excellent and the restaurant is tastefully decorated & very clean. Not an extensive menu but all dishes were perfectly cooked, nicely spiced and plentiful. Would definitely recommend & will go again next time we’re in the area.

Excellent food and atmosphere, the only thing I will advise is to increase the portion size as the current portions size is not in proportion to the price.

I have to say, we’ve visited this restaurant for both eat in and takeaway service on a number of occasions , unfortunately our last takeaway meal was somewhat disappointing ..The key criticism was the lack of meat in both the lamb madras and the chicken jalfrezzi. The sauces were pleasant enough, but it was very difficult to track down the meat pieces. I understand pricing has escalated due to higher costs etc but to ensure continued and loyal custom, can I suggest your portioning is at the least, adequate . At the moment value for money is very poor.

I had family visiting & took them to Mezban. The food was reasonable but I was embarrassed by the unfriendly service. We were a group of 5 with 2 well behaved teenagers so spent a considerable amount of money . The staff appeared unable to smile & we actually felt unwelcome in the restaurant. My guest commented on this in returning home. Living in Harborne we are blessed with an array of Restaurants so I definitely won’t be returning to Mezban.

On my first visit to this re-named restaurant, I enjoyed the best Bhuna I have eaten for many a long year. I revisited on Wednesday evening and chose to eat off the special inclusive menu. I ordered the same dish as I had before and again, the very best Bhuna meal. At last, a chef who knows exactly what a Bhuna should be! Not at all watery, just beautiful thick, spiced curry sauce. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I think a change of background music would benefit the ambience of this lovely restaurant. Well done to the chef and all staff for a most enjoyable visit. Will definitely return!

Seems strange this is still under the Regards name but after a facelift a few months ago it’s now called Mezban. Love the new decor, fresh & contemporary, visited on a Tuesday evening very quiet which seems a shame, especially considering the great deal of starter, main & rice or naan for £14 ! Exceptional value, lovely fresh meal, reasonably priced pints & wine list considering the upmarket location & courteous old school service. No complaints they deserve to do well,so go & support people 👍

We decided to go to mezban (new name for regards) for a quiet meal. We were delighted to learn they run a meal deal special Monday to Wednesday at the moment - starter, main, rice or naan and coffee £13.95 (from memory). It was any starter and main with a supplement for fish. Really good food - presentation was good and my South Indian curry was great (they even toned it down for me). Friendly staff. Honest good local dinning.

Food very average and not good value. My fish curry was ok, my son's food was average but my daughter's vegetarian option which was an Indian cheese "paneer" dish with plain tomato sauce. It was without any flavour and very disappointing. Service was good and although there were few tables occupied, the person who brought the food had nothing to say not even any small talk. He did not make any good recommendations and his heart was not in it at all. I will not return.

Went on a weekday, restaurant was fairly empty but they put us on a table right next to a new couple which was a bit awkward. I had noticed the £12.90 offer on the website so when I asked the waiter did not look happy and mumbled we could choose our food of the menu but once we chose something he told us there would be extra costs so we had to choose something else. The food itself was lovely, the naan bread was soft and the portions were decent and I enjoyed the starter and the sizzling Tawa saag lamb for main. We waited to be asked for a tea which was included in the price but nobody came to our table once we had finished. Near closing time they came to ask us if we wanted the bill, but we did get our mints. The restaurant was clean, and the food was quick, music was great, loved the food but the service let it down a bit

Very friendly staff, excellent service, splendid curry. Had a bad experience at Akbar's so I came here (40min wait and no food at Akbar). At Regards they sat me down and I had a beer and poppadom in 5 min. The vegetable jalfrezi and tandoori roti were piping hot and delivered to my table quickly, a very tasty curry was upon me, one of the best I have had in Birmingham area. The tandoori roti was fresh out of the oven with the right amount of crispness on the outside and velvety softness on the inside. The jalfrezi brought aromatic flavours with a delicate blend of spice, a scattering of green chillies in attendance to liven things up. I will be making a return visit next time I'm in town, wonderful.

I haven’t been here before but I can remember the days when it was located on Broad St. It is now tucked away in an affluent leafy area and to be honest I was expecting a bit more from the décor. In particular the bench seats all of which I suggest need recovering. This aside it’s a clean, nicely presented and not a bad little restaurant. We had a basic offering of dips with the popadoms and unusually for us we passed on the starters. Main courses were very good, my Tawa was very tasty although the peppers were a bit underdone for my preference and the nans were a bit on the small side. The wife and daughters enjoyed their meals served up in rather unusual balti dishes. The bill wasn’t bad considering where we were but I don’t think I would have been happy to pay more. The service was ok, pleasant but it could have been a little more attentive. Not a bad night overall and would go back.

Visited family in the area and was enticed into a India takeaway and as this is local was the obvious choice. The food was ordered as a takeaway and when arrived immediately dished up, the popadoms were crispy with onions and yoghurt sauce (no mango chutney) the chicken tikka madras that I ordered with fried rice was different. The amount of chicken was reasonable the sauce was ok, I do have a preference of when ordering a spicy dish expect it to be and hot in flavour, I do find that every India restaurant varies so much from one to the next that after the first meal you have expectations of exactly knowing how or at what level they spice things. At Least the next time I can ask them to hot it up, the meal wasn't by any way off putting more that it didn't reach my expectations so room for improvement

Walked in, nice atmosphere although there were only two tables 'of two' eating with some people at the bar, waiter sat us down, decor was nice apart from the ripped leather seats 'selotaped', that didnt bother me too much though. they had an offer on that night £11.99 for any starter, any main and any side with the exception of king prawn where they add on £2 for starter and £3 for main.Starter - King Prawn Puri and Chicken Puri served with yellow seet sauce and some basic looking salad; both starters were tasty and piping hot, did notice the excessive use of food colouring though.Mains - Lamb Shank and Chicken Chilli and Garlic Tawa, Garlic and Coriander Naan and 2 Chapattis. Lamb shank was nice, meat was tender, gravy sauce was tasty.Tawa dish was very tasty too, came out sizzling, after it had sat on our table for twenty or so seconds we could see red dots sprinkled all over the table cloth lol... im only lol'ing because my mate said "dont make a mess on their table, keep it clean!" the red dots were sprinkles from the sizzling tawa masala, however it was nice and spicy and tasty, i loved it. naan's and rotis, unofrutnately nothing special, nothing good worth mentioning....would i come here again, yes. Visited on Mother's Day, so perhaps I'm being picky, but I expected a few touches to make it extra special, maybe a few flowers or chocolates on table, maybe complimentary coffee as many restaurants do these days.Staff were unfriendly and kept hovering over tables seeming eager to clear away used plates. The chicken used in our dishes was not nice, all of us said the chicken lacked taste. Mine was too tender and I could easily cut it with the side of my fork, leading me to question 1) from which part of the bird did this chicken come from - was it reformed chicken with additives? 2) did they batter the hell out of the chicken to make it tender?I have concluded it is the first option, since the chicken meat itself (not the sauce) was tasteless.

There's nothing particularly negative about Regards apart from the price of the food. For the amount it cost, I was expecting it to be exceptional but it failed to deliver. The main dish I ordered didn't look very appetising but thankfully it tasted better than it looked but to be perfectly honest I ate a microwaved curry from Tesco's a few days earlier and I actually preferred that to the curry I ate here. I've also had better curries on Ladypool Rd. To sum it up, Regards is a decent restaurant, it's just a pity it doesn't offer value for money, but perhaps that's something to do with it's Harborne/Edgbaston location.

Being a first-generation immigrant Indian to the UK, I rarely eat out in British Asian/ Indian restaurants. I would prefer to cook at home. Regards is an exception. The food is not oily or banged up with spices, and one can actually taste the meat and the vegetables. It is also not ridiculously expensive as some of the 'authentic' Indian fare. The menu has a wide range of meat and vegetarian food. The restaurant is also located in a quiet area and tastefully furnished. We have been using Regards every month or so for over 10 years now, since it was at the former place in Five Ways. Sometimes we visit as a couple, or with a few friends; sometimes we host dinner for up to 12 business colleagues. We also collect takeaway meals on occasion. We have always found the food to be superb as is the service. Our most recent visit was 4th September with 2 friends. The main room is on the ground floor and is wheelchair friendly; a must as one of our business colleagues requires this. The food and the facilities are slightly more up market than many curry houses; there is the usual range of tikka and balti dishes but the menu extends to some quite exciting chef's dishes. Of note are the combination dishes that allow you to try two different dishes in one, selected to be complimentary to each other; also the house specials. It is fully licenced. Takeaways are pretty good too.We have always found the restaurant and toilets to be spotlessly clean, the service good and the atmosphere to be just what you would expect of any decent restaurant.

Nans are good although Akbar's still holds the crown for best nan bread in our house. The tawa is basically a curry on a sizzling hot plate that comes out of the kitchen leaving a trail of fumes for all other diners to enjoy. Not great if you have COPD though! It's not posh but what I would class as a very good neighbourhood curry restaurant. Always reliable but won't set your world on fire. Unless you have a tawa

I went here with a friend and we had the £11.99 menu deal (starter, main, rice or naan and coffee). The good and service were both excellent and I will definitely be going back.

Visited this restaurant for the first time two evenings ago with friends. Modern and stylish decor and well lit with attentive staff. Food was excellent, hot and plentiful but relatively expensive due to the location. There is ample on site parking. There is a special offer available Sunday-Thursday for £11.90 pp which is excellent value; however this is not listed on the main menu but advertised on a display stand at the side of the table and needs to be requested at the time of ordering, otherwise normal menu prices are charged.Would certainly return.

It,s sometimes difficult to get several generations of the family around one table, eating one type of cuisine. Some of the guests had previous history with Asian restaurants and were to say the least reluctant to come.GOOD NEWS - the food was excellent, the attention to detail by the staff exemplary. Would I go again most certainly. The menu has a lot to offer and several offerings I've near tried before. Give it a go, you won't be dissapointed.

We came here on new years eve because it is very local. We were drawn to it because of it's distance and because we had a taste card. Unfortunately when we arrived we were told that the taste card offer could not be used until January. It was a bit disappointing since the reason for the visit was because of a great offer. We decided to stick with it and try it out anyway. The popadoms came broken which I found peculiar. I can't understand why they would do that. I have Lamb dhansak which was very good. My partner had chicken tikka masala which wasn't so good. It didn't have much chicken and was VERY sweet. Maybe it's a preference but both of us tried it and found it not as good as other places. Considering it's one of the most popular choices, it was a shame this dish wasn't that great. The service was quiet but polite and the atmosphere wasn't very buzzing. The comfy booths are quite private so it's nice for an intimate meal for two but not so great if you prefer somewhere with a bit of life.

I visited this restaurant with my wife and a friend by chance and we were very satisfied with the quality of food, the atmosphere and the service. Two different starters were chosen and three different main courses, all were superb and well presented. The staff were very quick to deal with any requests and nothing was too much trouble. I will return whenever I want an Indian meal again.

Regards restaurant has now become my go-to restaurant for any event or occasion I may have to celebrate. The food my family and I ordered came fairly quickly and beautifully presented, and you could tell that these were truly authentic indian dishes from the smell, colour and gorgeous taste! The restaurant inside gives off a lovely warm atmosphere, perfect for any type of meal whether it's for a couple, a family, or colleagues. I was also told they have a room upstairs that's available for private bookings too which I will definitely enquire about if I ever need to organise a large group party! The staff were very efficient in taking our orders and bringing them to us, and everything ran smoothly on the night. And even with the restaurant being two thirds full, the waiters still managed to fit in small conversations with us which again added to the warm welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant. To conclude this rather long review (I didn't know I had baffled on so much lol) I live around 30minutes from the restaurant but I'd visit everyday if I could, so take the opinion of a girl who loves her indian food, and give regards a go! I do hope your experience at the restaurant goes just as well as mine! :)

My parents come to this restaurant quite often and it was my first time over the weekend. I ordered the Tawa Tikka chicken which was recommended to me. My dad also ordered a Tawa Tikka Lamb. Mine came and it was extremely bland and tasteless although my dads had more flavour it was still very mild. It tasted like an onion base with tomato puree and tomatoes, the taste remained with me in a less than positive way for 24 hours. With this said my family still enjoyed their meals and also commented on how mine wasn't the same. I would not be giving this restaurant a poor if it wasn't for the rude attitude of one staff member after our meal. We had gourmet cards and thought that one card gave 2 for 1 on main meals up to a party of 6, however we hadn't read that it was one card per 2 for 1 offer and a min of 2 cards per party. After producing one card and then querying the bill when only one meal had been discounted, the waiter became very offish with us and asked if we had a second card. On producing the second card the waiter became very resentful asking to see both cards before discounting the bill further. I wished he had dealt with the issue more professionally as I would have been willing to try this restaurant again in hope that it was just a bad choice of meal.

Okay - only used this place for take-aways - yet they have been so good I will have to visit as a diner soon. Nice authentic food, served within time limits specified by friendly delivery people. I recommend this Indian whole heartedly.

Nice curry and you can get combination dishes so good for indecisive people. Food very flavoured. Bottle of diet coke teeny tiny! Small rice portions so get a few. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will return.

For someone who is Indian and cooks at home this place was awful. The hot garlic fish and lamb chops tasted the same. They had obviously used the same masala. Never again

Nice atmosphere. Decent food. Not the best, but the best I've had locally. Poppadums were served broken up, which was OK - but a first for me in 37 years of eating at curry houses!Only irritating thing was having to ask for our change several times - we did intend to (and did), leave a tip, but the assumption that we were leaving it all is not the way to endear customers.

First time we've had a takeaway from here and it was pretty good!! Really struggle to get a good curry takeaway in the Jewelry quarter at a decent price and this ticked both boxes. The only added plus could have been poppadoms included!

Been here a couple of times this month not having been for many years. The food is the best I have had for a long time and the presentation, service and atmosphere is excellent, and made more appealing by being able to bring your own wine despite it selling beers and spirits, cutting down the cost for those on a budget. Its ideally situated for access to Birmingham city, £6 in a taxi takes you to Brindley place for lots of lovely bars cafe etc and of course the German market at this time of year.

Went to Regards(Harborne) last night with a party of friends. This was only the second time my wife had been to an India restaurant and she was very apprehensive, not being a fan or lover of curries. However, we had a great time and she went for a "combination" option, which she thoroughly enjoyed and is now pestering me to take her again!!! Excellent food, location and value for money especially as we took our own wine and the corkage fee was minimal, unlike some restaurants. Brilliant!!!

Dont let the exterior fool you - the inside is very nicely decorated and contemporary design. The food was somewhat lacking. I ordered the Lamb Bhoona expecting the full flavour of the boona, but it was just a little to bland. The Massala was overly sweet and killed the taste. The starters were good and the staff although rushed were friendly. Will come back and give it another try soon.

i went to Regards Restaurant with three other friends as some other friends who regularly visit recommended it to us. As a starter we have ordered Kodi Vepudu (chicken dish),Lamb Chops and Hara Bara Kebab (vegetarian). I must say that I have never had such a nice starter dish before, this chicken dish (Kodi Vepudu) was very tasty, full of flavor and i really liked it. The other starters were also very nice. When our main dish arrived, it was very well presented and nicely served by the waiter. There were two main dishes I have to mention which were; South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken and Zingha Hara Piaz (King Prawn dish). They were really delicious. I'll recommend that everyone visits Regards Restaurant as i had a very nice time, the service was brilliant and so was the food.

The service on our visit was beyond appalling & their response when we complained was total disinterest esp from the man who called himself the manager!! The restaurant has no atmosphere at all and the food is mediocre at best!! Visit at your own risk but if you do,go with very low expectations!!

Those checking Trip Advisor for restaurants, are generally looking for good service, good food, good value and an overall good experience. Well if that's what you're looking for in an Indian restaurant, then drive past Regards and save yourself the complaints, because they won't be interested. I arrived with 2 friends around 8.30, to join other friends who had been there since 7.30 and who were in the middle of their main course. Having had poor service, but nice food on precious occasions, it wouldn't have been my first choice. As we arrived, they warned us that the service hadn't been good and that we would have to keep reminding the staff we were there. An understatement!! When we eventually got the attention of the dis-interested waiter (one of only 2 with the manager, on a busy Friday night), he scuffled over and took an order of 3 drinks and 2 food orders. FORTY minutes later, despite further 'nudging' and grumbles, the 2 meals turned up, but no drinks. When pushed again for the drinks, they arrived with no apology and clearly no interest in our irritation. When I pointed out that we'd been waiting 40 minutes and that we had expected our drinks straight away, he shrugged (yes, shrugged) and snapped, "there's a queue". The interactions and service that followed, as we tried hastily to get out of there, was like a number of scenes out of Fawlty Towers. It was so bad, I was half expecting Manuel or Basil Fawlty to jump out, or at least a television camera to show we'd been Punk'd, but no, this was their idea of customer service. When the bill eventually arrived we tried to tell the manager how bad the service had been. He was just not interested. Shaking his head and shrugging like his incompetent waiters, he didn't even offer so much as an insincere apology. He just stared, continued to shrug and said they'd done their best. It's clear to say, we won't be going there again. And yes, we're locals so we like to support local businesses, but we also expect some service and value for money. So in summarising what I normally check Trip Advisor for when I'm trying somewhere new, let me help you out:The food was mediocre: small portions, inconsistent sized portions, fairly bland; The service was atrocious - worst ever: plates still on table an hour after the first service, rude, 'don't care' waiters, unhelpful manger, half hour wait for the bill (who wants to wait to pay for bad service?), unclear bill;Overall experience/value-for-money was horrendous: see all of the above!!I can't stop you from going, but if you experience any of the above when you do go, don't be too surprised. If there was an option, I would have given it 0 stars, to depict 'beyond terrible'. Come on Regards, as others have pointed out, you're in a nice little outlet in quiet Edgbaston. Stop being lazy and give locals and passing customers an experience worth returning for.

As a family of 7 we have been dining at this restaurant for many years. The staff and service is always friendly and efficient. The food is always delicious and all the dishes arrive together. The décor is plush with linen tablecloths and linen napkins. The restaurant is tucked away in a pleasant and quiet part of Edgbaston with a nice bistro pub across the road for drinks before/after (The White Swan). Lots of booth style tables if you prefer privacy when dining. Thoroughly recommended for those that enjoy great Indian food in more upmarket surroundings but still offering good value for money.

Three of us went for an evening meal at Regards as one of us had a voucher for a free glass of wine each. Unfortunately the wine was bought to the table within minutes of us arriving and by the time we were ready to drink it the white wine was almost at room temperature. Our fault we suppose, we should have sent it back, but the staff didn't give the impression that they would have greeted such a request with a great amount of enthusiasm. However it is obviously a popular eatery with a steady flow of diners for a Tuesday evening. The seating and tables were a bit dated with booths & fixed benches, however the temperature was “just right” without the freezing that one often gets with air-con.The food was fine – not great, but if it was our local we wouldn’t be troubled by eating there regularly – if only the staff could show a little more enthusiasm & bonhomie!

Delightful experience everytime (ordered both in restaurant & takeaway).Perfect for low budgets & when you're craving an Indian. Great food, plenty to choose from on the menu. Would recommend trying something different to your usual as the chefs here are evidently talented. Friendly pleasant & helpful staff who are happy to advise if you cannot choose what to have. Great value, big portions. Not necessarily suited to special occasions where you're looking for an interior with the wow factor.

Following a nasty bout of summer flu, my husband thought I needed cheering up and whisked me away to this truly delightful restaurant. Although the restaurant was busy the service was swift and extremely friendly. For starters we both had Kodi Vepudu. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. For the main course I had Jhinga Hara Pyaz which was to die for, king prawns cooked with tomatoes, coconut and onions, served with basmati rice. My husband doesn't like too many spices so he opted for the Pasanda chicken which he assures me was perfect. To accompany our meal we had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.I can't comment on the price as my husband whisked the bill away, whatever the cost was, it was well worth it.This restaurant was clean, comfortable and had a lovely atmosphere, we will definitely return.

He probado muchos restaurantes indios en el área de Southfield de Northfield, pero desde mi reciente visita al restaurante Jafrany se ha convertido en una de mis casas de curry favoritas.
