Under new management these people are rip off told the man to make me fresh lamb but it wasnt fresh wajid was better then these scammer i would never go back here or recommend to anyone

Been coming here since I was a child, the best food around. Food is really authentic and massive portions. The owners are great and have known my family for years.

I recently dined at Popular Balti and was absolutely blown away by their Chicken Karahi. The dish was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. Had a lamb karahi for the dinner Amazing dish also try thirr cheese naan and garlic naan that is great absolutely recommended

avoid this place at all cost, went in completely empty, thought great will get served quickly as everywhere is was super busy. Should have realised there was a reason for this, got lamb of the bone and every piece of meat had more fat than actual meat. Had to about someone over as no one was there, went away and came back after a bit to say it’s all like this would you like mince meat instead, keeping in mind my colleague is having mince meat already, i’m like no thank you. Wasted my time and then owner/chef comes out stating it’s the butchers fault, i’m like no you clearly so the fat and chose to cook it without removing it. Now you know why everywhere is busy on here and this place is empty

Shocking food, Ordered sheet kebab, and meat karahi. Starters came with main course, no salad. Clearly just thrown in microwave and even cooked for too long. No flavour hard and chewy. Main course nothing traditional just very small pieces of meat overcooked not even desi style But what would you expect both starter and main course came out within 3 mins or ordering. It was that bad I after taking one spoon and a fraction of a bite of sheek kebab I got up left the money and walked out. Leaving food on the table Such a shame been going here since the 80s. New staff 2.5 months ago, never going again.

Ordered starter sheek kebab and meat karahi, both came out with in 3 minutes! Sheep kebab microwaved and clearly for too long hard and chewy! Karahi looked nothing like a karahi, tiny bits of hard meat! Sheen kebab didn’t even come with salad ? Shame it’s under new management- not a patch on the old owners! I tasted one spoon of karahi and the sheen kebab was hard couldn’t even chew it so I just got up left money and walked out without eating the rest.

DON'T ORDER A BALTI OR MANGO LASSI.. THE BALTI SMELT AND TASTED LIKE SWEAT.BLAND WITH AN AFTERTHOUGHT OF CHILLI POWDER. THE MANGO LASSI WAS WARM WITH THE CONSISTENCY AKIN TO SOLIDIFIED CUSTARD. THIS MORNING I VOMITED FOR 45 MINUTES. YELLOW MANGO LASSI. I HAVE PHOTOS THE OWNER REFUSED TO COMPENSATE WITH AN ALTERNATIVE DINNER. I STILL HAVE THE FOOD LEFT HOWEVER THE NAAN BREAD WAS PERFECT

The starter was supposed to be like a crispy, folded pancake, Cooked in oil and filled with minced meat. It was very oily with soggy pastry and almost inedible. The rest of the food was ok but very average.

So unhappy. Ordered food. Over 2hrs late. Ordered a katlama and spring rolls. They stressed me out arguing about the katlama so long that I forgot they never even gave me spring rolls. The mince in the katlama was OFF. U can smell it a mile off. No apology. What I got was ‘really’ ‘are u sure’ The outside of katlama was rock hard. I don’t leave negative reviews. But this was something else

Friend suggested this place usually use shababs up the road but got to say this place is first class from poppadom to starters and main meal all was beautiful,fresh crisp shami kabab was the best ever tasted the wife’s pakora was crispy light spicy batter ,both curry’s was lovely a slightly more traditional curry and rice will definitely be back 👍🏻 Edited: went back in February and don’t know what’s happened to the place so run down ,walls and floors was dirty and grubby not a great appearance to start my mrs took her seat while I went the bathroom let’s just say we left straight after as the toilet was absolutely disgusting ,pity as the food was so good but you need a good deep clean in this place …

I had to ring and ask if owners/ chefs are new. Customer for 20+ years, my chicken and what I thaught was lamb was mutton I could tell straight away, spoke to chef he said no one wants to pay for lamb prices and said you cant get lamb off the bone. used to be so tasty and delecious but my last couple visits food was flavourless I’ve made up my mind sadly we wont be using populars again. BRING BACK THE OLD LOT

This is the Worst Balti House in Birmingham on Ladypool Rd, They make out their the Best Desi Balti House, the truth is I've been her on 2 different occasions and each time has been a different and bad experience regarding there foods, the Baltis are awful the starters are cheap and horrible that you buy from outside supermarkets Pre made, these people can't even get the Baltis Wright its a shame.

Really lovely food... 10 of us went to the restaurant last night and everyone of us had a nice meal .. clean plates around. The staff were very friendly and very attentive and were constantly cleaning

This is a place where in tranquil colours in an authentic small restaurant, cleaned to perfection and pleasently restored serves food that is delicious and uniquely tasty. The new management need this heartily restored gem of a place to work and we curryfials need to keep it going. It is for me how the fuuture of a small independent run established food place should be. If you are out of town go there! Vegetarians dishes are sublime.

What a awful experience.Called them to ask and person giving wrong information.Went to the resturant food balti was cold and taste was disappointed.Toilets are filthy even door dont close also being a halal resturant +being in the birmingham there is nothing to wash in toilet.look at the picture of door.Will never ever go there again also advice people who are really like good food and hygiene please find somthing good rather then coming here.

First time we visited the mix grill and chicken karahi were on point. Side dish of saag was delicious as was the naan and tawa chappati. Fresh poppadoms and pickles. A few weeks later, the second visit, everything was inedible, we ordered a kilo of chicken and sent back more than half of it. Maybe just a bad night but the swing in quality over a couple of weeks was really perplexing. Tight seating, awkward for groups, but open til late if you want to chance it.

My first ever review of a restaurant shame it is the worst experience I have had. Terrible food staff need training clearly the business is going the wrong direction (going down) was very nice once apon a time but that was a long time ago honestly worst place to eat on the whole ladypool road in my opinion based on my last visit. Shop is a ghost town no customers whatsoever don't recommend at all. I was honestly tempted to go back and have a word but I drove too far out.

Terrible portion size and absolute rude staff. Terrible customer service. Will charge you for a full portion but only give you a side portion worth. Stay away from this place, much better options available nearby

If you specialise in balti please just do balti only if u really want customers not to have the same experience as me.. so disappointed. Clearly you make your food different for online customers and given us the left overs that was reheated ..if I could give 0 stars I would, food was absolutely tasteless, charged us £16 for two meals I cannot see how they can justify charging that much when the food was appalling.. do not go here for a meal please as you will be disappointed I came back from work and travelled to Birmingham to eat and we had food from here... Dry Sheesh kebabs masala fish had no taste to the batter.. the staff member was awkward and rude.. ask for chilly on the fish refused to do so and gave just one tub for two meals asked for mayo no mayo given.. I wouldn't even pay £5 for the meals you have given us!!! Food was old and must been re heated...You should be ashamed never coming back for sure.. first and last time!! Disgusting to even sell food like that and charge what u. Do!! Absolutely superb. My brother was visiting brum for first time in 20 years. Wanted to take him for a Brummie balti. This place was recommended by fellow uber drivers. Everything was just splendid. Starters, main course. Naans and Parathas. And the pickles were out of this world. We had a great time! .

One of the most authentic curry places in the balti triangle. The restaurant could do with some renovations (and maybe some extra ventilation in the covid era) but the curries are on point.

Last night I ordered chicken balti. The order came in 5 mins. Terrible and stinky. I am a customer and human, I should be treated with respect. I received the message from just eat 30 mins after receiving the dirty stinky balti. I just lost my money last night. It was a very bad experience and I wanted to be shared because I felt disrespected.

Curries tasteless. Not worth the 40 pounds for three curries. Naan was disgusting and not cooked properly. It was like eating a handful of dough. Do NOT order from this place.

Quick cheap and good for late night eating, especially after the Blues play. We came at 11 am on a tues night. It was a bit quiet but service was fast and the food was hot. All the balti dishes looked great, we ended up with a veggie balti as well as a keema and paneer balti. We were not disappointed. Sit back and enjoy your meal with the latest Bollywood on their Telly.

Ive known popular Balti on ladypool road since 2006...every time I have been with my family to eat in the food and service has been consistently positive. Tonight I ordered a delivery and again was not disappointed. The food arrived within 40 minutes and it was delicious. Thanks to the management and delivery team. Keep up the excellent service. THE place to go for authentic tasting balti. These guys have been around for ages. Friendly staff Good food Worth going to Just a shame they have put there prices up so much lately. And they charge for popadams but ask if you want them like it's free. Also charge for the tea. Appart from that would recommend. Just not as good as it used to be back in the early days with the original staff

I would give it 10 stars if I could!! This was suggested by our wonderful taxi driver who dropped us in Lady pool Road. He was not wrong. Friendly people. Asked how hot I wanted my curry and gave me samples so I could choose knowingly rather than pot luck! We had a medium naan between 3 of us. It was huge so I am glad we did not go for the family size! My son's rogan josh was really tasty and so was my meat jalfrezi. The bombay aloo and the tarka Dall were the best I have ever tasted. My husband enjoyed his dupiaza too. There was an Indian film on the TV in the corner and when they noticed we were watching it the staff put on the English subtitles for us. How kind was that. What a very special place. Rightly named the Popular - it should be tried by everyone.

First time order3d from here loved it. This time I ordered customer service was ridiculous. Had a guy shouting at me over the phone..calling me dear at the same time does not make it ok to raise your voice! I have cctv around my building the driver had supposedly called me 5 times and pressed the buzzer. Ridiculous! I can see my whole unit surrounding and my phone service is working fine! But the restaurant wouldn't even apologise for this and the man raising his voice needs to be trained in customer service and if he's the owner, he should have someone else on the phones. I'm paying for my food. You are not doing me a favour! Never ordering from here again.

I with my Wife visited this Indian last night and apart from my Starter of Shami kebab the food was Awful!! Our Baltis were tasteless and the Lamb which was in them was Very fatty and of Terrible Quality.. Also the nan wasn't great Either so all in all Very Disappointed.. It is Down from Shababs our usual Haunt and boy do I wish we went there last night...

Old school spit n sawdust curry house, with top notch food at decent prices. Worth a trip. Don’t take your posh car 🚗 & park it around here. If you do, don’t expect it to still be there when you get out. It’s in a proper scummy run down high crime area of Birmingham (even by Birmingham’s standards!!).

Lovely food, great service and the environment is perfect. We have been going here for many years and can never resist the chicken tikka and lamb starters. Classic curry house, you will not find me and my husband anywhere else - Highly recommend 5 Stars
