Awful fish and a bad attitude they don't like it when you complain shame it used to be a really good chippy the chilli beef is good

Had a Chips and Curry last night and was the worst chippy meal I have ever had. Chips were in crunchy little pieces and the curry was thick, glutenous, tasteless and looked inedible. How can a food place get something so simple so wrong. Local customer will not be returning it was disgusting. Will make my own in future with tastier, healthier results

Just had chicken satay it was awful,had a few things from there hoping to enjoy something, but definitely not going again, tasteless not much chicken gravy tasteless, will try elsewhere in future.

Well that’s £9 I’ll never see again, absolutely vile, chips were dry and hard, not real ‘chippy’ chips, no taste to the fish, this place needs closing down, wish I’d have driven a little further to the Kowloon 🤢not what you want for a takeaway after a long day at work and don’t feel like cooking

We’ve tried this chippy twice recently. First time the chip tasted like they were reheated leftovers from lunch. Peas were dayglow green but tasted nice and the fish was ok. This time we only went because our usual chippy was closed for staff holidays, the peas were watery, the chips were hard & dry but the fish was just horrid. A thin fillet of fish that was encased in batter that was so THICK and greasy even the cat turned its nose up. We won’t be going back.

Polite pleasant staff, good delivery service, great tasty food selection. Nice clean shop. Use evenings only.

Not been there for 2 years so I thought I would try it again, now I know I would never go back in my life, Had chilli chicken and fried rice with chips , the mrs had a taste and said don’t eat that but I did because I don’t like to waste money Anyway the food was disgusting and i spent the next day on the loo all day This place needs shutting down Do you self a favour and try somewhere else Unless you want to lose half a stone in 24 hours This place needs investigation by council

The first time to eat their home taste is very good, the food preparation is quite rich, the packaging is very careful,clean and sanitary,the amount is also more, I will return to try again.

The amount is very sufficient, a person can not finish the set meal, or as always delicious, color, aroma and taste, next time try other have not eaten.

I love this takeaway very much, the taste is authentic, the taste is also very good, very satisfied, it is worth recommending

This used to be a brilliant chippy. People used to come from a log way away. In the last couple of years it has really deteriorated. It isn’t open late enough for customers getting off the last train and even earlier customers are told they have run out of chips!!!! The fish and chips used to be brilliant quality but are distinctly average now. Think they have stopped using fat to fry them. Sooner someone else takes it over the better.

Had food last night. The taste always nice and staff are friendly. Special fried rice very nice!!!!!

Food is always fresh and hot. Excellent service and delivery at all times. I recommend special fried rice and sweet and sour chicken with chips.

Just finished running to the bathroom after having sui mai,spring rolls and prawn toast between two of us!! Never to return ..

Now it’s called new regal fish and chips . Definitely stay away from this place , we had a noodle combi box and it was absolutely disgusting, ended up in the bin and then spend all night on the toilet. Places like this should be shut down . Reported to health and hygiene.

Shocking, salty mess ribs in water and how is it possible to get spring roles wrong? Please save your money and go elsewhere, up there with the worse food I was unfortunate enough to order!!

Ordered fish and chips twice - the flavour was good but they use the cheapest paper so all the batter comes off the fish and sticks to the paper. We complained next time and were told we should’ve asked for it on their non-stick paper!! So, if you actually intend eating all of the fish including the batter don’t forget to order it on their right paper.

We bought an adult fish and chips, myself and my husband went halves. a child's fish and chips and a child chicken nuggets and chips. We went to the local beach to eat them. The chips were tasteless and burnt and the fish was more or less pure batter with hardly any fish inside. Even my little boy who eats anything couldn't eat it and my little girl left all her chips. We don't have take out often but decided tonight as a treat. Literally 10 minutes after buying it ended up in the bin. So disappointed.

Prompt delivery, lovely fresh food. We order from here frequently and have never been disappointed. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Arrived ten mins late but thats not beyond acceptable. The food was very tasty but one word of warning to those who are used to Chinese takeaways in the South East of the UK......the portions are HUGE and it all comes with rice or chips included.

We finally tried this chippy after hearing for a long time it was supposed to be lovely, orderes chickwn fried rice chips and curry, the chicken fries rice was quite nice althouwgh didnt ask if we wanted any soya sauce luckily i had some at home, the chips were a bit hit & miss the fryers were broke so they were cooking them in the back somehow ! The curry was soo hot and spicy it was totally inedible even my husband couldnt eat it and he eats hot currys, so overall not great might try again once more and see if its any better

Ordered Chinese meal and fish and peas Waited and waited when everyone was being served before me! hit home to find the Chinese chicken chow mein was very very poor just shredded chicken and a few noodles and the driest chow mein I’ve ever seen!! this was the worst Chinese meal I have ever had! Won’t be returning.

Avoid. Meal turned up 40 minutes late. After delivery found it was stone cold. Waited 30 minutes for a refund before we could order a replacement, person we spoke to (Michelle) was stroppy and unhelpful. Me, the wife and the son are Hank Marvin. Won’t order from these jokers again.

Taste really nice, it’s the best I’ve ever had and great service and lovely hot food. Been many times and never had any complaints

Now named "The New Regal" had a flyer through the door so thought we would try. Ordered banquet over the phone and were told 20 mins. Order ready on time always bonus. Had chicken an sweetcorn soup which was lovely followed by spring rolls also yummy. Crispy duck pancakes ordered as extra except the duck wasnt crispy, more soggy with dried out cucumber chunks. The biggest let down was the main meal though chicken, green pepper in black bean. Tasted nice until I bit into the reformed pieces of chicken . Now if I pay for chicken I expect chicken. Not mechanically recovered and put back together .Such a let down. Wont be back.

Order every so often and always really pleased... polite service with speedy delivery.... I always appreciate a great takeaway. 🙏

What a shame. This food has definitely gone down hill. Chips were old and had to be thrown away. Never again.

Seems to be dropping standards since the previous owners left ... used to be consistently the best chippy around but has the new owners are letting standards drop fast .... always used to be busy but went here yesterday at 6:30pm and only 2 people waiting for food... chips were old and reheated with some still undercooked , fish was all soggy batter and inedible but the curry sauce was quite nice . Both our fish and chip meals went in the bin hardly touched !Sad to see this chippy has lost its way but I’ll give it 6 months and try again

Ordered from here recently and I’ve got to say it was one of the nicest meals we’ve ever had and for a good price too. Definitely going to be coming back! If you’re stuck on what to get the salt and pepper chicken is AMAZING.10/10 would recommend

We have been using this fish and chip shop since we moved to the area a few years ago and it has always been fantastic. I know it has changed ownership and tonight it wasn’t good! The chips were scraps of what was left in the fryer and were mildly warm with some burnt bits! The fish was really greasy and the batter was thick and undercooked in places! My son always has a sausage which used to be cooked fresh while we waited. This time it was taken from the heated cabinet instead! Such a shame as it was so good before and looks like it’s going downhill!

This chippy used to be fantastic but it changed ownership earlier this year & has steadily been going down hill. The meals were not as good but still nice so we have continued to use & have accepted the various mistakes made with our orders but never again. I phoned at 5.50 & ordered 3 meals for delivery. I was told the wait would be 1 hour & I accepted that. After waiting an extra 20 mins I rang & was told it was out for delivery. After waiting TWO HOURS I rang again to be told that the food hadn’t even been cooked yet & would be another half hour. I don’t know what is worse - the fact the Food hadn’t even been cooked or that I was lied to when I rang. I have friends who already avoid this place & we will now be joining them.

Have been going here over the last few months after recommendation from friend. Unfortunately this evening we placed a large order over the phone and we were told it would be ready at 8pm. Went along to collect it and we were still waiting for it at 8.30pm. Got the meal home and they had got the order wrong. We were all so hungry we didn’t want to go back and complain so just had to make do with what they had given us. Such a shame.

Its the only fish and chip shop my partner has a sausage dinner as its small and plentiful for her to eat.

All round best chippy I have ever had. Lovely staff, and well priced food. Would be my first recommendation for anyone new! Get a delivery too!!

Love the regal , we've moved to Wk and still go all the way back to meols for takeaway , especially their vegetarian tofu dishes - double yum - don't go changing guys !!!

Food is always fresh and dishes cooked to perfection. They also have a good selection of meals for vegans and will leave out egg in rice if asked. The owner and staff are particularly friendly despite always being busy. Love this chippy!

I can't fault it. located adjacent to Meols station and easily missed by car, it offers an extensive Chinese menu. Friendly staff, hot, delicious food. Well recommended.

We use the Regal once a month and cannot fault it. The food is always to a very high standard. The service is efficient and the staff friendly.

Asked for a small portion of fish and chips and got exactly that. Why? Because the portions are huge. Excellent service, excellent food. Love the place

Where to begin. This takeaway provides quality delicious Chinese food and friendly customer service. They do the best fried rice and sweet sour pork in the business.

Not bad at all for fish and chips etc. but the Chinese food leaves much to be desired. Quantity rather than quantity.

We usually visit here because it is very local to us. There has never been a problem with the food - it has always been nice and very palatable. Never had any issues with food safety.The atmosphere does let it down slightly, still with the old 90's feeling about it.There is nothing special or extraordinary about this takeaway, just your average fish, chips and Chinese.For a cheap and cheerful dinner, this is perfect.

There are plenty of chip shops by us but none compare to the new regal . Love love love the beef curry it's really tasty . Have tried many dishes here now and have never had a bad meal and never a wrong order . Staff are lovely too !!! Need to try you won't be disappointed

...we used to queue out the door at this place but my last two fish and chips have been distinctly average...the last one being the same price but half the size and tasting awful. Curry cooked with too much vinegar, not a person in sight when I ordered, I thought it was odd. I now have an idea why...time to find somewhere else!

Pretty soon, I will have made my way through the entire menu - everything is just too good.The only fault I can find is that whenever I get a takeaway from somewhere else (and believe me when I say I've tried a lot of Fish & Chip shops and Chinese takeaways being the hungry student that I am), I've not yet found one that lives up to the New Regal Chippy. It's a shame as I don't often find myself in the neighborhood as often as I would like!The staff are always a delight and make the takeaway experience an enjoyable one - both collection and delivery service!

I purchased a burger from here recently.After nearly finishing the burger, I suddenly realised that part of the burger bun was green with mould.I returned to the shop within the hour and explained the problem. They regrettably, initially refused to accept what I was saying. Only after insisting and demonstrating that the burger bun was mouldy was I offered a partial refund.No apolgy and no refund of the chips that I had purchased with the burger! Very short sighted!Would not ever buy food from here again and I have reported my experience to Wirral Environmental Health Department.
