Awful went in the bin rice stodgy and no egg nothing chicken processed tasteless

Always busy but myself and my wife where not impressed with the food and the service.the service a bit slow.

This was probably the worst Chinese meal I have ever had. My choice was the Chinese roast pork and chicken with bean sprouts which was supposed to be a “special”. There was a large portion of bean sprouts and onions but the pork was sliced, cold and fatty and was definitely not “Chinese” and the chicken was also sliced and cold and plastic. Could not face any of the meat so meal went in the bin.

Great food friendly staff well worth a visit

Quality of any meat from any meal there is extremely low - and yet they charge top whack. Unlike lots of chip shops they charge you separate if you want rice or chips with the meal and the price is just not worth it for the extremely low quality of the food they produce. Go if you’re out of options, but that’s about it.

Service could be more with a smile, but food is great

Standard Chinese takeaway. The speed of service is incredible! Big portions!!! Absolute chaos mind, no names, no numbers random queueing, but it seems to work for them!!

Ordered a banquet for 2, £25....absolutely rubbish dont spend yr hard earned money. Hot sour soup ok, ribs full of fat, chicken cashew average, sweesweet&sour pork horrible waste of good money will not go again for definite.... Tell everyone rubbish rubbish tasteless DO NOT GO....

Excellent Chinese and English meals

Excellent fish and chips as always.

The lunchtime food is really nice as it's more fresh than at teatime, by that time the gravy/curry is as thick as concrete, the potatoes have turned and the rest is lukewarm. The photo below is my salt and pepper chips......my replacement wasnt much better

They have good food and we always been going there. Having said that tonight being Friday it was very busy. Very long queues. No system and not organised as to know who's order is next or who has ordered and who has not. Its OK to be busy but NOT OK when I get home and the food is not as before. The smallest fish ever seen in my life. No meat inside just the fried butter. They get payed CASH ONLY (no need to explain why, we understand) So you have planty of CASH. PLEASE update the dam place. It will give you more CASH, will look more welcoming and less greese smell (get extractor fans that will strip your pants off). It is time to make it a bit more modern and no more sixities looking business. Oh and Argos queueing system kidda laa

My family have been coming to this takeaway for many years and the food has been consistently been very good. However, the attitude of the staff towards their customers has somewhat declined over the years to the point they have become rude and abrupt which is something that I am no longer prepared to accept and will not be visiting this takeaway again, this is coupled with the fact that myself and my family have been short changed on multiple occasions at the Golden Wheel over the years. I am also very disappointed that during the current COVID-19 crisis and at the time of writing this review there is a large sign in the window which states ‘Cash Only’. I find this unacceptable especially during the times which we all currently live where most retailers are accepting contactless payment and with some even insisting on it. I would be interested to know whether or not the inland revenue have ever looked into the ‘Cash Only’ mandatory requirement currently operating from this establishment.

Chips stodgy and brown, curry sauce a revolting gelatinous mess. Absolutely go smacked at how little I enjoyed this. Do not go here.

The only nice thing was the Savory Cake, the chips were warm ups and uneatable. Especially when you travel from Upton for the Savory Cake.

Food is ok my kids used to go there often, it re-opened last night and they were excited to be able to return - however my son paid them £10 too much - noticed and went straight back in and explained (within 2 minutes) - they denied all knowledge and made of a fool of him. My son has dyscalculia, he explained this, so they mocked, laughed and humilitiated him. Promised to check till and call him - never happended. We won't be going there again.

Been getting takeaways from here for years & have never been disappointed with what I've been given. It's no Michelin Restaurant so I've not rated it as one.. it's a 5 star local Chinese takeaway.

Paid with a £20, got change for £10. Challenged, said would check till at the end of the night. Returned fully expected my £10 back but apparantly the till balanced!! Thieves

Just visited the Golden Wheel today, the attitude and arrogance from the counter staff are food equally are diabolical, I only visit this take away when I am forced to, and every time I`m made to feel as though the meals being prepared for me are an inconvenience. This takeaway business does not know what good customer service is, I would not go recommend anyone to go near this shoddy, stuck in the mud, shop, as there are at least three, much nicer places in the Bebington location to pick up good quality take away meals, with friendly service.

Firstly, don't ask or buy crispy chicken. Unlike crispy beef, it comes as six chicken nuggets, no OK sauce, side such as chips or rice. To add insult to injury it's covered in their 'Special, spicy salt!' I'm 49 years of age and lve never heard of Saxo table salt referred to in this way!! Yes, it was covered in table salt!! As for their spring rolls... picture yourself peeling and preparing vegetables, what do you do with the peel-probably the bin or compost pile??? Well Golden Wheel obviously recycle them. Nothing a atl wrong with that, however recycled into your sloppy, spring rolls-mmmm not good! Wouldn't recommend this excuse for a chip shop-bloody awful!!

1st visit to this Chinese takeaway and likely to be my last. We ordered beef and moorshroom with boiled rice, noodles & spring rolls. Sadly the beef more resembled doner meat. The noodles were very dry which wasn't helped by the lack of sauce with the dish and the mushrooms were undercooked. Only positive was the spring rolls however these did not make up for the remainder of the plate. Two thumbs down 👎👎

The Golden Wheel has been great for so many years. Excellent English and Chinese dishes. The only negatives are no home delivery service and the curry and gravy are too salty.

Always order over the phone and walk in 10 minutes later to pick up hot fresh food. Great people. Great food

I am 56 and have known the owner, Wing, since I was 18. I have had more Chinese meals from here than I would care to remember. The overall impression is superb. We keep coming back for more and more and more. Chinese is not the most healthy takeaway, so if you want healthy food, don't go there. But if you want consistently great tasting Chinese food at an affordable price, then go there. Shock horror, some reviews say the English is not so good. As long as they get my order right (and they do always) then I can live with that. Good tasting great Chinese food. Highly recommend it

Best chips and fish all round the corner and wirral

Chips are lovely and the savouries too. I find their meals way too salty and small in comparison to others. I only ever buy the chips and savouries for a quick lunch. Afraid the meals I give a miss.

Great food, lovely people always friendly and take time to chat. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal and when I was diagnosed with MSG intolerance they told me that they could cater for my new dietary needs.. Good sized portions but one slight draw back, the peas are not chip shop style.

We always enjoy dinner from here. Firm favourite: savoury cake (mashed potatoe with a stuffing flavour in batter). Only complaint is marrow fat peas not mushy.

I've introduced a few family members to this chippy and everyone has agreed that it is one of the best sources of beautifully cooked, authentic and tasty Chinese food. I have no hesitation in recommending this chippy.

It's a regular Chinese restaurant that serves all that you would expect that kind of restaurant to serve. But what sets it ahead are the friendly staff who are welcoming to new customers and regular locals alike.

Tasty meals, my fave is special omelette with big chunks of chicken, large prawns. The salt and pepper chips are nice with plenty of chilli's, the curry sauce has great flavour

There is a variety of foods available, including English meals.They are always busy, dealing with 'phone orders as well as a crowded shop. I just wish they would add duck to their menu, but after asking for duck, they have resisted my requests for years. :)

The issue here is, as far as English food goes - there is really no issue with this chipshop, chips are well cooked, fish is a good size and not sloppy, beans and other condiments are fine, the issue is with the Chinese food - it seems the more complex the meal the worse it gets. Starting with the special curry, although there is a great selection of meat in the dish the curry is very, very salty. Another example was the chicken fried rice, now call me old fashioned but it's normally nice to have the chicken warm as well, instead of it being stone cold. The absolute icing on the cake however was the special chow-main - noodles literally swimming in oil and the meat just left on the top of the dish and again cold chicken!! So in summary, if you want something simple then - yes get your chippy tea from here, at a push go for the curry dishes but avoid the Chinese meals.

A very varied menu, great portions, very well cooked and very good prices. More a general take away than a fish shop s there is only one fish dish and the fish is not specified. However, if you just want a good takeaway meal then this is as good as it gets.

Not a regular visitor here but always enjoy take away from here. Good portion size, tasty and reasonably priced. Char Sui, ginger & spring onion is lovely.

Undoubtedly the best Chinese takeaway around. I love this place. Only shame- they don't deliver! Food is always freshly cooked with a good range of vegetables in the Chinese meals. My husbands only bug bear is they serve marrowfat peas rather than mushy.

As our local takeaway, we are more than happy with the Golden Wheel. If you want good chips, this is the place. Their chinese food is also pretty good as takeaways go, and the service is always quick.

Fast service, great fish and chips as well as Chinese.

After leaving Lancelyn Plaice in frustration yesterday I walked another 10 minutes to the Golden Wheel and the contrast could not be more striking. I waited no more than 10 minutes for excellently prepared and tasy food. This takeaway is very busy but has the staff to mnage customers quickly and efficiently.

Local takeaway. Fish and chips excellent. Chinese food of v good standard for takeaway. Staff are always pleasant and service is swift.
