Food good but recently then portions have reduced a lot. Price didn't go down. In the shop the service is good and quick. On the phone it's quite busy so can be troublesome to get through and delivery is rarely less than 40 minutes.

Perfect food for someone who fancies a cheeky chippy on a friday/saturday night. Have a range of exquisite confectionary. Would definitely recommend. the can of coke filled my mouth with thick bubbles. see attachment photo for reference

Good lot, foods always cheap and good. Never had a bad one from these guys you don't get takeaways like these too often.

I have been here many times and never had a problem. I used their delivery service tonight (even gave the delivery driver a good tip). I served the food immediately but was so disappointed that it was cold. Completely cold. I called China City to let them know and said that I wasn't asking for a refund but wanted to know what they could do. Their reply was that there was nothing they could do. I said that things do and can go wrong but that they need to look after their customers and their reply was once again, there is nothing we can do. I said that they have lost our custom and that I won't be recommending them to anyone and they were really not bothered in the slightest. No customer service whatsoever. I will be going to the Chinese take-away opposite to them from now on.

Recently moved into this area and needed to find a new chippy, was skeptical of the place but made the lunge and what a decision it was! I ordered the Salt and Pepper chicken strips and the chicken chow mein and was very satisfied with the taste, the service was good and the two lads were very keen to recommend certain items on the menu. Will definitely come back here again. 5/5

Best Salt and pepper chicken on the Wirral

Customer service is awful. We have been ordering from here for the last 15 years every week. Two households every week and spent a lot of money with you , On the 1 occasion we complained as the food delivered was not edible we have now been refused delivery when trying to order on another occasion .When I rang and explained who I was they were not interested at all and spoke to me awful on the phone .I cannot believe how you have treated us not one family but 2 . We will no longer be ordering from you again as you have treated us so unfairly and considering we have always used you that show you for what you really are

Absolutely disgusted by the customer service from this establishment. Have been ordering from here for the last 15 years and spend every week with them. My self and my son and daughter, order from 2 our adresses .On the one occasion my son complained after taking delivery of the food which wasn’t edible as was all hard we tried to order again and was refused delivery because of the said incident. I cannot believe you have treated us with so little respect we spend a large amount each month with you,we will no longer be ordering from you again.

Ordered a chicken strips in peaking sauce with boiled rice and hot soup with the meat chunky, absolute best Chinese on the wirral, Salt and Pepper chicken strips is to die for, 10/10 every time

Ordered usual order of s & p chicken strips, chips and curry . Shared between 2 of us and neither of us could eat the chicken, it tasted off. Rang to tell them and all they said was do you want more sending out. No thanks! I don’t see what else i can do he said. Terrible customer service. No offer of refund.

Disgusting we have used these Upto 3 times per week and tonight as had happened in past sent a meal we have paid for with no chips. They refuse to send them and then I found black hairs and a fly on my food. This place is disgusting will never use again. Please check your food in case you come across the slop they sent me tonight. They have seriously no standards they became aggressive on the phone and we will be reporting them to the council.

I ordered food on Friday night and it was very tasty, good portion sizes, but a elderly man turned up with the food and just looked so miserable! Not a good way to receive the food from someone who was so unhappy. I left a nice tip but still wasn’t thankful and still miserable

Due to second lockdown, we ordered takeaway on 05/11/2020. They were prompt on time and food was very very tasty. Portion size is also very generous. we will order again from this takeaway.

Ordered banquet A 5.45 pm advised delivery 40-45 mins called @ 6.55pm told a further 20 mins or so with a snotty attitude !!! Never again refused food wen it arrived at 7.20pm . Get a grip on ya business idiots .

Just been to this Chinese and I must say its terrible. Spring rolls where all pastry. The salt & pepper chicken was not salt & pepper chicken you normally get from a Chinese it looked like chicken burgher sliced up. No taste at all. Chicken & blackbean there was no flavour to it and watery. Boiled rice was in clumps. Shocking!! Don't waste your money

Food was terrible. Chicken fried rice tasted stale. Salt and pepper chicken was burnt. Chips rock hard and cold. Asked for gravy with no mushrooms and they sent gravy with mushrooms. First and last time using here.

Been ordering delivery for a few years, always loved salt and pepper chicken strips as usually fresh and juicy chicken pieces. Have ordered twice recently and the chicken strips have been terrible on both occasions, not sure if they've been refried or if there’s a new chef but not good, dry, crispy not fresh at all, Not sure what the issue is as they are really busy so would expect them to be fresh? Please address the issue.

Had a lovely meal rang up they said about 2hrs came in 1 hour piping hot had a few meals from here always good service and hot there hot and sour soup is to die for

Ordered meals for 6 people and forgot the curry sauce so two peoples meals were then cold. We had to go to another chippy to order a carton of curry. However then the meals were cold and had to be heated up, and everyone knows it just doesn’t taste the same once you’ve heated it up. Nothing worse than lazy workers who can’t double check they have customers orders correct.

China City is the only chippy we will come to, the shop is clean and Their hygiene rating is 5* so I feel safe eating here. The chicken strips are the best - you can't get them like this anywhere else, big chunks of chicken with chilli, onion and peppers The prawn toast is filled really thick so you get a lot for your moneyAnd the home made mini spring rolls are delicious Portion sizes of the meals are perfectWouldn't go anywhere else.

Ordered a banquet it came in around 15 minutes red hot it was huge and lovely we never go anywhere else love this place

This is the only Chinese takeaway I go to, I always get the same meal, deep fried shredded beef and chilli sauce, I find the food amazing and as I said before I wouldn’t eat anywhere else for a Chinese meal

The nicest thing about this chippy was the chips we got from another one to add to the meal after them not turning up.. then being rudely spoken to by a man saying we didn't order them when we were both sat here and had! Very unprofessional.. I've worked in a chippy myself and even if you were 100% sure someone hadn't ordered something we would still appologise and do our best to fix the problem. If you want to keep your buisness and customers I suggest you loose the attitude!

No chips sent with meal. Was told to wait until the delivery driver returned so they could see if there had been a mistake. I assured them there had been a mistake and the man on the phone was extremely rude. And basically ended the call by saying 'ok bye' and hanging up. Disgusting customer service. This is hands down the worst takeaway I have ever had. Ordered three meals and each one was inedible. Phoned up to complain and staff were rude. Very rarely complain or leave reviews about takeaways but this one was so unbelievably bad that I had to. Do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague.

Do not order from here. I have had to report China City to the Food Standard Agency due to being served RAW CHICKEN. After complaining on the phone I was told it was what the chicken had been cured in and that's why it was pink. Upon further inspection we didn't feel safe to eat it as it also was not very hot so we didnt feel it was cooked correctly. We took it back to China City to show them. We were met with a hostile attitude from the chef and a female member of staff regarding the chicken. She tried to tell us it was the salt that had turned it pink, when we were told on the phone it was due to how it was cured. We asked for a refund for the whole meal as it completely put us off eating anything from China City. Again we were met with a rude and hostile attitude and told we would only be refunded for the chicken and nothing else. The type of behaviour from China City was completely unacceptable. They are serving raw chicken and making up excuses as to why it is pink. I do not feel this restaurant is safe for the public to order from. AVOID!!

I’ve never seen or tasted anything so bland or burnt- spoke to Lucy the owner and she said she has never had a single complaint and this is how they cook. When I asked her how they cook the sausage she said “I don’t know I’m not the chef”

I have been to China City yesterday for a take away and the staff was taking my order was so polite and suggested good dishes for my taste. It was really value for money and got the food in reasonable time. It was so tasty. Myself and my family liked the food . Certainly we suggest this Chinese Take Away to anyone as they wouldn't let you down, I am sure. Thank you China City for the great food.

En este restaurante llamado con buenos amigos en el restaurante menú opción tenía un ambiente agradable y el personal era acogedor y servicial la comida era buena y vale la pena el dinero pensamos que el restaurante no estaba lleno servicio no fue rápido, aunque éramos un grupo grande.

Intentamos llevar por primera vez. Pedí carne de ternera crujiente de chili y 2 en salsa de pimienta negra. Ambos platos eran horribles. Gloopy es la palabra de uso para describir la presentación de la salsa de pimienta negra y la carne chili no era crocante. No vale la pena el dinero gastado. Me hubiera pagado £2 para esta comida porque las patatas y gambas galletas saladas eran preciosas. La pérdida de 18 libras! Volveré a mi favorito por la carretera.

Egg fried rice = par boiled rice saturated in soy sauce only 1 piece of egg Honestly only the 1 piece. Mild curry sauce = what tasted liked watered down sainsburys value curry sauce without the sultanas. The chicken from the salt & pepper chicken wings was nice all in all for £6.70 it was an expensive takeaway Will not be returning.

Found out about this gem of a takeaway through my sister in law. Salt & Pepper Chicken Strips are the best I have tasted - loads of meat, not shrivelled pieces. So tasty with King Prawn toast - delicious. Highly recommend

I like this places, it is not as nice as silver city but the salt and pepper chicken is really nice here, reason for only 3 stars my girlfriend really doesn't like here thinks the chips are hard and not cooked properly,

Since we moved to the Wirral, we have been looking for a decent Chinese takeaway as I love Chinese food. I had hoped that China City might be a good choice as it is close to where we live, but the seaweed lacked any seasoning, the crispy beef was in large gluttonous lumps, and anything but crispy and the crispy duck was fatty and soggy. Needless to say, we were really disappointed and I called to tell them of our disappointing experience but found the lady I spoke to be defensive and totally unapologetic. This is the first and last visit for us. Awful food and not cheap!

Great food. We get take out from here all the time. They deliver but we usually collect. They've recently moved premises up the road, on the corner by the traffic lights. They don't have a menu online so I took a picture of their latest menu and put it in the pictures above.We'll continue to use China City as it's excellent!

SOR1978 this is a Chinese takeaway restaurant and not a chippy,The food is excellent quality, surely you can add a little vinegar at home

Had left over Chinese from the night before from our favourite Chinese takeaway in Irby and needed some chips to go with it. For ease I decided to go to a local Chinese takeaway that always seems busy...I have no idea why! Asked for a large chips...the reply was we only do one size! Ok I said, that's fine. She then disappeared into the back and reappeared with a small bag of chips. I asked if she had put salt and vinegar on and the reply was..."we don't do vinegar". What kind of Chinese takeaway does not do vinegar??!! So slightly unimpressed I went home with my bag of salted chips to then find when I got home that they were frozen chips deep fried! So fake chippy chips with no vinegar!! Needless to say I will not be returning!!

Amazing food harry rocks your guaranteed top food at great prices try the chicken strips mmmm but don't stop there try the rest of the menu I'd like to say more but my food is about to come. That's all from me keep up the good work China city, Chris eagle. :-)

I am a regular at China City after my family forced me to try Chinese, I used to despise Chinese food but China City offers a cuisine I have never before experienced. Even typical dishes like Chicken Chow Mein that many would call "bland" fascinate my taste buds, not even the taste but the appearance of it is delightful, the thick noodles enriched in sauce that drips down your chin. As it is a friendly family restaurant I feel that they make food even so fussy eating kids are eager to try something new, there is something for everyone. The prices are lower than many other takeaways I have been to, and the food has a lot more flavour, you get so much more than you pay for it is the ultimate bargain. Many times I order 3 meals when I am eating alone just because it is all so good and I can't decide what I want, even if I cant finish it all, the food still tastes wonderful the next day cold. I have recently introduced many of my friends who adore Chinese food to China City and they have stressed how it has changed their lives, they can't go back to their old takeouts and have now become regulars. Many Chinese takeaways it is sometimes difficult to order due to a language barrier, that is NOT the case here all employees no matter what heritage are fluent English speakers with easy to understand accents. Not only this but the service is extremely quick even on a busy Saturday at prime time I ordered a delivery and it was delivered to my home in no more than 20 minutes, now that is quick!! Even quicker for collections, a maximum of 5 minutes, impressive I know! So I encourage everyone and anyone to go to China City North West's best Chinese and get the true taste of China!
