Food was great, but very expensive, chips were a little greasy, but might just be my luck. Everything else was really good.

Just picked up chicken curry and chips It’s just simply perfect and the staff amazing

Scallops were hard as a rock and were freezing on rube 2 younge girls that told us it was 6 pounds and then they told us to give them another 2 pounds through a box

The worst fish n chips I’ve ever had. Tasteless fish and dry old chips that nearly broke my teeth. Not cheap.. Won’t be going back.

Authentic Chinese meals cooked fresh as you wait. Nice touch is the free prawn crackers or drink if you spend over a certain amount. Had to ask for no onions as last meal was packed with them to bulk out meal,

Very good food never had a bad meal, would recommend the hot & sour soup and the beef and black pepper.

The egg fried rice was over cooked, and there was barely any chicken in a sweet and sour chicken, like 50-60g

Really good value for money. But best of all is that you cannot fault the quality and taste of the food. The Chinese food is good authentic tasty food, which you don't get very often in a lot of takeaway places. Well worth trying and while I'm on the wirral it is now my favourite local.

Best chow mein in Wallasey. Consistently good. Decent sized portion of chip too. Free drink or prawn crackers when you spend over £10.

Best chippy in wirral bbq ribs are the best and my missis loves the onion rings from here

My friends and I live in wigan and we travel to New Brighton fishing almost every week. As we come out of the Merseyside tunnel we order our meals from River Queen. The staff are very friendly and polite the food is excellent. My wife always asks me to bring her a meal home. NEVER had a bad meal yet and that is backed up by all my fishing friends. Only one down side. They are shut Sundays. Still they need a rest.

Been here a few times since moving into the area. It's now our regular Chinese on takeaway nights. Very friendly staff. Meals are massive compared to others we have tried, great to share with other half . Authentic ingredients in Chinese dishes we have tried. Our favorite meal is special foo yung at the moment, simply delicious. Nice touch getting either free prawn crackers or a drink, when you spend over a certain amount. Can't credit them enough.

Food expensive for quality and portions

We ordered Thai chicken green curry but when we got home we had beef curry……very disappointing as we don’t eat beef. Besides the wrong order this was not a Thai curry as there was no hint of coconut milk and was nothing like what a Thai curry should be. The taste of the other dishes ordered was also very poor. This take away has really gone down hill.

Enjoyed our meal. Can't stand cucumber, so was pleasantly surprised as our beef mushroom had a little bit of courgette in. Cheerful staff, tasty food.

Good honest food at a reasonable price. Has been my local chip shop and Chinese take away for about 10 years and never had an issue.

Been going here for years, it is still the best Chinese food around 👌 we moved slightly further from it but still drive to get Chinese from here 💖

I had fresh cooked fish and chips and curry the food was really nice for the 1st time I had eaten food from this chippy ,I was so impressed with my fish and chips I returned a few days latter to eat their again and I found it to be very nice yet again.

Great chips and curry, good chinese food too

We used to love the liver dinners from here. Unfortunately, today we found that the price had gone up to £5 and the portion size was greatly reduced, there was hardly any chips. Needless to say we will not be going back in a hurry.

Good value, great foo young and beef curry free can of pop but chips refried so point deducted.

I always look forward to going home so I can get a River Queen takeaway. I can't say why but the omelettes are excellent. Everything else I've had over the years has been very good also.

Not a patch on the previous owners. Meals not as tasty. Fish and chips poor. This used to be the best in Wallasey village in fact I think the best in Wallasey not now. Others are better now

Five different meals all prepared quickly and good quality. Those who served were helpful. A range of healthy option foods also given, including advice on allergies, and MSG free option.

Found hair in food not first time but last for me this time food not bad price not bad have had some lovely meals here in past unfortunately finding hairs on last few occasions has put me off for life

Have used the River Queen for years and it has always been average. On this visit we got some salt and pepper chips which cost twice that of a normal portion of chips and you get half the amount, if they were made properly this would not be a problem but what we got was a portion of half cooked chips which had been tossed in the wok with some garlic, onion and spring onions, very poor and no hint of salt or chilli. We put up with average for years, maybe it's time for a change!

I have gone to review the River Queen on a number of occasions but it wasn't on here so I have now added it. My previous reviews would have been mixed as they do some things quite well but tonight took the biscuit! I ordered salt and pepper chips which cost a lot more than just chips and what I received were some chips which had been thrown in a wok with some spring onions, onions and garlic, no sign of any peppers or chillies. For the price, they are a total rip off and I will certainly never order them again. The portion size is less than half that of straight chips and they cost twice the price. Please see picture.
