I'm so sorry to say but I thought this restaurant would be like it was few years ago. Only thing I enjoyed and my partner was Soup Wine. For £100+ very disappointed. Was so cold too. Set menu for new yrs eve.. Missed my main Chinese restaurant as were fully booked. Brought main meal home. Beef mushroom was in horrible juice. Sorry peeps have to be honest. Never been so disappointed in any other restaurant I go to many. Always have great reviews for where I eat out. Apologies for my honesty.

Hasn't changed much in years. Food is OK, drinks are OK, service is OK.

We preordered a takeaway for 8 people. Starters, veg spring rolls, bbq ribs and prawn toast, all very fresh and hot. The half crispy duck was excellent, very meaty, the cucumber and spring onion a little wilted but it was takeaway. The main courses were very nice and good portions including a variety of veg not just a lot of onion as some takeaways are. Staff were polite and helpful, everything was ready on time, hot and well cooked.

Worst takeaway we’ve had, ordered chicken curry, Singapore vermicelli, salt an pepper ribs and salt and pepper chicken. The chicken curry was grey, never seen anything like it, that went straight in the bin, the Singapore vermicelli was just a load of thin noodles matted together couldn’t eat that either, the ribs had a funny smell so they didn’t get eaten, the only edible thing was the salt and pepper chicken, we were left hungry and 30 odd quid out of pocket, never again!!!!

Came across this restaurant by accident a few weeks ago & was impressed with the food so we went again with friends. We opted for one of the set menus for 4, same as what we had when just the 2 of us went & as much as the food was nice, it was hardly anymore than when we went just the 2 of us. Small spring rolls cut in half amongst other things. Felt like we'd been had so wont be returning again

We have been visiting the King Wah for many, many years. We celebrated a family birthday here in March 2023 and again the food was plentiful, well-cooked and at a very fair price. The couple who run the restaurant are wonderfully friendly people and deserve the regular business they get. Their evening banquet menu is good value and all cooked well, particularly the crispy Duck and tasty main courses. The decor in the restaurant is pleasant without being over the top and it's rarely busy outside of weekends. It's basically just no frills good, honest food that is hard to fault. We will be back again soon.

Takeaway order..beef dish full of sugar and duck dish was mainly skin and fat covered in a kind of jam sauce..expensive and very disppointing..

We actually really liked it here - we stopped off on the off chance as we were starving but were an hour away from home. Service was great, very friendly, we had the banquet for 2, the starters were delicious. We weren't as keen on the mains however, a little too salty for our taste but overall pleasantly surprised

DO NOT eat in the King wah Chinese. Its the worst Chinese I've ever had. The hot an sour soup was a bowl of vinegar, the prawn crackers where about 4 years old. The spring rolls tasted like cigarettes, the bbq spare ribs where like nothing I've ever tasted before...not in a good way and the main meal ( Singapore vermicelli) was that boring I almost fell asleep eating it. Staff must know its all sh** because they don't when ask if you're enjoying it because they obviously know you won't be. Don't go guys you've been warned!

Don’t bother, from the lack lustre hot and sour soup that lacked any taste other than an overpowering sweetness with no meat. To the poor warmed up appetisers and cold duck pancakes it couldn’t be worse. My main dish of food tasted the same as my partners even though one was meant to be sweet and the other hot. Please don’t waste your money. The decor was dated and it’s definitely stuck in the 1980’s.

I went there in November and the food is so delicious. The crispy duck is the signature dish that everyone should try. Will definitely go there again.

We are vegetarian, the food is lovely. Highly recomend this restaurant. We have been coming here to dine in and for takeaway for some years. Standard always excellent.

We stopped here quite by accident on the way to the port at Birkenhead; we just needed a quick bite before the sailing. It wasn't perfect, but we were glad we did. The service was friendly, the vibe pleasant, and the food was ok - the rice wasn't terrific, to be honest, but both the veggie satay and my duck were fine and the portion sizes were ideal.

Best Chinese food on the Wirral. I will never go anywhere else after trying King Wah.

I went with my two daughters and we all prefer the starters, so we had about five between us. We shared a half crispy duck, barbecue ribs, seaweed etc. We didn't have a main meal but had a bottle of wine between us. The restaurant was busy but the service was quick and friendly.

Lovely food, excellent service and very good value for money. I’d recommend the lettuce wraps starter, honey spare ribs and the beef in King Do sauce.

Ordered a takeaway and was expecting something better than the local chippy. Should have gone to the chippy! Friedchicken fillet in honey and lemon sauce. Dry hard chicken and no sauce. Fried chicken in oyster sauce. Again dry and tasteless. Pale chicken with loads of white onions which I hate, and tiny mushroom and bit of carrot. The fried rice was just boiled rice rice with a bit of egg. No taste to either dish. Won't be back.

Have dined her a few times. Staff really nice, restaurant very clean. Food tastes okay. Food always served warm and this is most off putting! It is never served temperature hot and this is a must! Please take note, as this is losing you business. Nice atmosphere.

Just had our first meal out since lockdown. Absolutely fantastic. We ate off the main menu and can honestly say we were not disappointed. Friendly family atmosphere whilst great attention to all ‘the rules’. Booked for next week.

Excellent food and service, we are not local per se but have had countless takeaways from here and have eaten in at the restaurant many times. The quality of the food never disappoints and are always surprised by how reasonable the bill is at the end for what we get. The only nasty thing about it is clearly some of the people that come in here and their nasty reviews, although you can expect that kind of mentality from a lot people in Bromborough!

NIce bright place, lovely staff all wearing masks & noted all seats were sterilised after use.We enjoyed our soups & appetisers, the serving of crispy duck was very good but the skin should have been more crispy.Then came a problem we waited for the mains to come, it took ages & being there for 1 .75 hours we got fed up & asked for the mains to be packed to take home, this was done with no problem.I ordered the Beef Szechuan & must admit I didn't like it as it was very sweet making me think I was given Sweet & Sour by mistake which I dislike. 1* offDon't know if our main had been forgotten, thus us taking our meal home 1/2 * off.Pity! as it is a nice place to eat.

So normal banquets you can order whatever you’ve ordered more than once.. not here. You pay full price for a child, but get 5 chicken wings, 5 ribs.. even though we had paid for 3 adults basically. The duck must of only been 3 weeks old! And you have to pay an extra £3.50 per person for the duck.. The soup was like dishwater. Left the place still hungry. Will not return and wouldn’t recommend to anyone!!

The soup was awful, like dish washer with a quarter of a crab stick in. The duck that was served looked like it had been passed around the restaurant, just got served scraps, none existent! There was hardly any meat at all for the main and we had to request knives and forks to eat our meal with. Definitely the worse Chinese food I have had!

Had a lovely banquet yesterday at King Wah on the eat out offer. Food was nice and hot and never felt rushed. Was good value for money and tasty and will be going again.

Great Chinese food at affordable prices

We ordered chicken chow mein as a takeaway possibly the worst Ive ever had. There was about 5 or 6 thin strips of chicken same about green pepper and carrots and loads of noodles.....all was very dry and tasteless. Have not been here for a while maybe that was the reason!

My Mum & I went here after a bad experience with the other Chinese meters away! I’d never been to King Wah until now & I would definitely recommend. The restaurant was clean, wait staff attentive & food cooked fresh. We ordered from the banquet menu. I don’t like soup which the waitress happily added an extra dish on the next part of the banquet. Crispy duck was crispy, we needed more pancakes which they happily provided. Good selection of wine. The mains of a reasonable size. Only thing that made it a little less a relaxing enjoyable meal was a large group of men & women sat right next to our table, who’s every word was a swear word. Service was good, maybe because it was quiet but will go back again.

Party of 5 for the wife’s birthday, all ordered from the banquet menu. Lovely soup, then the starters came and we were beginning to think they had made a mistake with the chicken, but then 2 more plates came. I have never seen so much food for the price, was totally full at the end. Very friendly staff.

Had a takeaway King Prawn curry, dreadful couldn't taste the curry which was like brown water. Grossly overpriced in excess of £9 which went in the bin. Never again disgusting

Such a lovely little place to eat and real chinese food not like the buffet rubbish you can everywhere. Lovely owners who always make changes to the menu for us to accommodate for vegetarian options. For the price you couldn't expect anything more.

The King Wah is a Chinese restaurant situated just 5 minutes off the M53 motorway in the heart of Bromborough, it’s close to Bromborough Croft retail Park where there is a Cinema and various outlet shops and a wonderful little Village down the road from the restaurant which is a semi-urban village situated 5 minutes away has local shops and a Supermarket. The Village Hotel isn't far from here either. As you step your foot into the restaurant, you are welcomed by the old traditional Chinese Red and Gold decorations and lantern lights adorned across each table. Its simple clean and if you liked going to traditional Chinese restaurants then this is the place to be. There is plenty of car parking outside and it’s set opposite a beautiful Park for a nice evening walk in the Summer. Every table has full condiments, the table cloths are clean and laundered you can also see the kitchen from the main Restaurant and they have a 5 star Hygiene Rating. We could even see the Chef working away in the kitchen. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouth-watering starters followed main courses and desserts, it caters for all ages to be fair, youngsters and adults. We had a set Banquet C for 2 and cost £17 each person - Each dish was cooked fresh and the taste was delightful. There was no sign of that nasty MSG stuff and any really strong colouring which always leaves an after taste in my mouth wasn’t to be seen either. We had Sesame Prawn Toast, Spring Roll, Spare Rib, Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup and it was followed by Crispy Duck. And pancakes – that’s just for starters!! We then were given a 15 minute break which was nice and we weren’t made to feel rushed. They kept replacing our napkins and the Draught Lager wasn’t watered down either – they only had Carlsberg on Draught but they had bottled beer - Tsingtao and Tiger as well – they did sell spirits and various soft drinks. Our main dishes then were brought out and we had a massive bowl of Rice, which could have easily served four adults and then we had Sweet n Sour Chicken. Sizzling Steak with Garlic & Onions and finally Chicken with Ginger & Spring Onion – just look at the photos – cant get better than that for the price to be fair – we were stuffed to the brim and the brim was stuffed even. We felt all the dishes used had good quality ingredients in them. In contrast, the service of very high quality. The waitresses was full of warmth and thoughtful of us as guests. They were always around ready for our wants but they weren’t hovering which we dislike, and to top it off because of the brilliant music they played and the delicious food as well as service we highly recommend going to the King Wah if you are meeting for business or getting together with friends or family and thats why we are giving it a 5 star review.

My friend introduced us to this Chinese Restaurant last year. We absolutely love it here. The food is super fresh, the tastiest food I’ve ever had. We haven’t been to another Chinese since. My grandad is one of the fussiest eaters ever, we got a takeaway last week. He said it’s the best Chinese ever. Lovely family business, lovely staff. See you soon Sammy & Rich

Me and my family regular visit this restaurant, as the food is of good quality and tasty. The service is exceptional also. Only complaint I have is that sometimes the restaurant can be very cold, more heaters needed.

We tried this local Chinese for the first time. Prices were reasonable. Interior was glum and cheap looking. Service was ok. The young girl made a mistake with our order and didn’t apologise or anything but the young English waiter was brilliant. One of the best waiters I’ve seen in a while and the highlight of this restaurant.The hot sour soup was so average. No veg or meat in it. Like it cane from a can. Prawn toast was nice to be fair and salt and pepper chicken and ribs ok. The duck pancakes were as expected. My beef Shezuan was so bland , average basic and not even hot and the huge amount of rice that came with it the same. Compared to other restaurants it was so average. I’ll never return but at least we’ve tried it

I enjoy going to king wah. Every time i go, iam not disapointed. I have had lovely meals there. So much to choose from too.

Lovely evening with great food , nice atmosphere and the company of lovely friend's

We really enjoyed this place. Has a very cool, almost big city atmosphere. The big hits of the night were the queso dip with pork rinds, the wood grilled oysters rockefeller, the ribeye, and the whole fried flounder. Dessert was delicious, especially the peanut butter pie!

My wife & I have visited this restaurant several times & the food has always been exceptional.The banquet menu that is available for £10.99 is such good value. You can add the shredded Duck course for an additional £3.50 per person, which I would highly recommended.Some banquet menus in restaurants end up being a little underwhelming but not here. The portions are very generous & the food quality is second to none.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone & I would urge everyone to give this great little restaurant a try - you will not be disappointed!

A very enjoyable meal in relaxed surroundings...

Visited, on valentines night 2019. The restaurant was quiet just a few couples which surprised us both as the floor space decoration and tables were attractive ---nice place.Anyway the food was really good plenty of it and very reasonably priced compared to others on the wirral. Could not fault it, The wine was also very cheap we had a nice bottle of Malbec which was only £13.70. Other variations were cheaper.The owner Victor spoke with us both after the meal, such a nice man, we both took to him. He had a great sense of humour and was prepared to take on board and advice or criticism we may had had but we had none, everything was really good.Would recommend.

We have been here many times in the last few years but I have to say the food was not as good on this occasion. Quality of food not as good poor duck and ribs poor. The restaurant was empty apart from us. Seems regular custom voting with feet and looking elsewhere. I will be looking to try another place until things improve may give it another try in a clouple of months

Food was very nice but very expensive over double what it usually is. Will go again but not on new years eve.

My wife and I have been to the King Wah restaurant many times the food never disappoints!Although the ambience & decor is a little sparse, you cannot fault the food.We went for the Christmas Banquet menu which was only £19.99 per person for a 4 course meal.The Sticky Pork, Sweet & Sour Chicken & Sizzling Beef main courses were excellent.I would highly recommend anyone to check out this family run restaurant.I truly believe that it has some of the best Chinese food on the Wirral!

Very very bad service no manners from staff didn't offer us drinks waited 15 mins for them to come over to our table. We finally orderd our food we ate 1 hr 15 mins later.meat was like rubber both chicken and beef.noodles tasted of grease .We left all four meal staff didn't ask if there was a problem.we asked for the bill which was thrown at us very rude staff .don't go here.

We went here family of 4 waited some time for staff to come an take drinks order then waited again to take food order asked for salt and pepper chicken pieces and ribs as starters when they arrived after some time they brought wings instead of pieces ribs were over cooked like plastic after a wait they brought chicken pieces out by which time table was full of dirty dishes because we had all finished our starters no staff came to clear them off finally table got cleared an warm plates brought out but yet another wait so plates ended up cold asked for no veg in one of meals they came with veg an rice missing from one meal staff not got a clue about menu meals were vile meat tasted synthetic all round a waste of time and money all meals were hardly touched asked for bill staff never asked was there a problem with the food they could see a table full of food hardly touched im not a fussy eater but if I pay for a meal I expect it to be edible an I expect a reasonable level of service all I can say is dont waste your time an money here

Always love coming here - the food is delicious and the staff/ owners are lovely - it is consistently excellent for food, just been to the Far East on holiday and to be honest the food here is abs on a par if not better with great restaurants in Asia. Great food, reasonably priced - also went to China Town recently in Liverpool and wished I had stayed local i.e. Here ! Lots of us i.e family and friends come here a lot and we could choose lots if other Chinese restaurants but we like the quality here - chicken and fish dishes are fabulous and this is not churned out half warm food - they are great with kids too. Never had a service issue - drinks are not that expensive either.

Tried this place on Saturday night with my boyfriend! Decor really shabby to start, at hindsight should of turned around at this point. The chicken noodle soup I had was so greasy, it had a shine to it! The starters were less than average and at that point we decided to leave before our mains. This is the worst place I have ever eaten and the first restaurant I have left before mains. This is the kinda place you see on Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares. Do not go here!

Awful service! Staff all of school age with very little experience who were too interested in standing around chatting to each other. No supervisor or manager was to be seen! As little attention to work was given lack of care to serving meant that the soup was nearly poured into my mum's lap. Additionally very slow service for taking drink and food orders and large delays between courses! Further to this the main dishes were not all brought at the same time and they had got the order wrong for one of the dishes. With the food being ok even though it was not the best it was the staff and service that really let the restaurant down!

Sorely disappointed, especially after some of the reviews here. Service was below any acceptable standard. Waiter seemed inexperienced (that's OK). Took order for a bottle of Rosé wine (No 11), came back with white wine (No 8 or 9). Soup was wonderful. Starter was adequate, though nothing special. Main course.adequate again. Enough food (don't like to waste, anyway). Pork fatty & gristly. Made an error on the bill. Could have happened to anyone. Error, of course, was in their favour. In fairness, the did correct the error after I pointed it out to them. I, unfortunately, have to wear portable oxygen. Staff (esp. Manager/owner) ignored me and talked across me to my wife, as though wearing an oxygen tube deprived me of the powers of speech and thought. Very rude. Prices average (although only average for average food/service). In this case, I'd call it pricey. 6.30 mid-week until 8.00. We were the only (all three of us) party in there. Speaks volumes. Won't be going there, again.

Service poor,. Staff standing chatting, had to keep chasing them for service, gave up in the end without having sweet and coffee. Food not much better. Won't be going back, shame as we live in walking distance.

First visit and the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. There were three of us and we had the banquet, with the duck plus a few extra dishes. Food was tasty and wasn't oily. Next time we'll try a la carter.

Chinese restaurants can vary big style---totally blown away by this one, excellent food & service. Won't hesitate to revisit if in the area again !
