Lunchtime hunger saw us opt for this lovely little bakery, it was rammed with customers but service was very efficient.- superb selection of pasties and cakes for all requiremennts - excellent service from counter and serving staff. Lots of tea selection, but maybe a more comprehensive selection of teas ! Nevertheless a great place to go for lunch. Great tea-pot by the way !

What a lovely friendly lady at the counter this afternoon, so nice to have such cheerful customer service and the cherry bakewell slice was the best I have ever tasted. She asked if I had nut allergies too which was thoughtful. Ten out of ten :) Sorry I can't add a photo as I've just scoffed the entire cake, crumbs and part of my husband's cake too. Happy days.

Order at the counter (downstairs) and consume upstairs, you have to check if a table is available but you can't reserve and then queue with take away customers, not being sure whats available means queues naturally build and made longer for all, then table you thought was available is taken up? Not sure what is achieved by this? Have visited 3 times last 8 weeks, left on first occasion, stayed on the second (the waitress kindly saved us a table) and left today. Very very disappointed

I went into the Winchester branch and brought a doughnut from there, the thing that made me feel sick was when I pulled a hair out from the custard, it was a long brown hair. I felt disgusted and sick that they don’t wear hairnets. I would not go back there again.

Today i walked into town to go to reeve’s for lunch, upon my arrival the staff seemed hostile. My initial thoughts where it was a Monday, I understand. Once i had purchased my food and hot chocolate i went up stairs to sit inside, out of the cold, and upon being seated i was then rudely greeted by an employee who said we couldn’t sit down upstairs unless we paid extra. In our current weather, i was outraged by this as we weren’t told this at the till. The attitude of this employee was disgusting and completely backhanded. We ended being escorted out like some sort of criminals. Unfortunately i didn’t catch his name as he refused to tell me but he remained me of a james cordon with brown hair and a moustache that didn’t particularly suit him. And the attitude of a south American dictator.I will not be returning again.

Visited Winchester for a day trip after Xmas and couldn't resist stopping by for some bakes. All the stuff on display looked really good. It was fairly early & the shop was pretty empty but staff kept rushing us asking what we wanted - as we couldn't see part of the counter due to another customer who was blocking it we were slow in choosing & staff were impatient. A put off. Bakes were delish though. Had a pasty, chicken & mushroom pie & another sausage & chorizo bake. All delish though quite pricey. There didn't seem to be any other independent bakers about so there isn't much of a choice if you fancy a bakery. Staff could do with some training to be more welcoming.

The cafe is above the bakery, up quite a narrow and high flight of steps. Quite a small seating area with perhaps 6 tables and a couple of sofas. There is one loo under the stairs and people queue off the stairs, so if you don't like stairs or have mobility difficulties I wouldn't suggest this cafe.I had a flat white and Cheese and tomato toastie at just over £8. It was very tasty and came with a medium sized ramekin dish of fresh salad and a handful of crisps. It was well presented, nice sour dough bread and tasty cheese. Service was quick. I always seek out Reeves the Baker as they are a small local chain of artisan bakers and it is great to support local business, otherwise there are a number of chain stores you can find everywhere else.

I visit Reeves in Winchester a couple of times a week for my large multi seed loaf. Unfortunately once you have tried this bread everything else is inferior. My fiancé and I popped in on Saturday 14th September 2019 for a quick lunch as Greggs was closed. He ordered a pasty and I ordered a pizza slice, and we ordered a large ring, sugar donut between us. We went to sit in but were rudely told by a waiter we couldn't as we'd not paid "sit in" prices, as per their policy. I asked him why this is not better made known at the outset of ordering; to which he replied that there is a sign. I asked where, as neither myself nor my fiancé had seen any sign stating as such but all the waiter said was "outside". So we left (disappointed) to find somewhere to eat.

We popped in to get our elevenses. The selection of savory and sweet pastries is vast. The service was fast and helpful. The selection of bottled drinks in the cooler was also nice. We selected a chocolate chunk twist, and it was plenty to share between two. The products on display show 2 prices; one for take away and a slightly higher price for eat in if you want to take it to the cafe upstairs. We took ours outside and sat on a sunny bench on the high street. The pastry was superb. Highly recommend.

We bought two bakery items from downstairs and wanted to enjoy them in the cafe with a coffee. We opened our bag and before we could break a piece of gingerbread, the woman working in the coffee bar section launched herself at our table to tell us in a very loud voice, attracting attention of everyone in the cafe "you can't eat things from downstairs upstairs". Very confused, as there was no signage and IT'S THE SAME SHOP we left, after a few minutes to go somewhere else. No idea what this policy is and why? It's not because the cafe is nicer than the bakery, it was unclean and messy. If the girl spent more time cleaning up and less time telling her customers off, we could possibly understand why this 'policy' exists. Poor customer service, nice gingerbread. She ruined the flavour of our biscuits.

This little bakery is part of a family chain and we are lucky enough to have one here in Winchester! As you peer through the bakery window, at the delicious cakes, pastries and beautiful hand made sandwiches, you are spoilt for choice on what to pick - lovely to pick up some lunch and go to the cathedral to eat lunch on a nice day but equally as nice to enjoy in the little tea room cafe upstairs! Nice cup of tea or coffee to wet your whistle accompanied by a tasty scone or cake or choose from toasties, sandwiches or soup or for the super price of £9.99 enjoy a lovely afternoon tea, comprising of sandwiches, little quiches, salad, crisps, scones, cakes and choice of hot drink - very nice for elevenses, lunch or a quick cuppa whilst shopping - busy little cafe in the heart of the city, with pleasant staff, what more could you ask for....

Always in reeves especially the Romsey branch but after skating today we all bundled into the upstairs cafe in Winchester. We were served by the dullest most disinterested slowest person you could ever wish not to have serve you. It wasn’t just delayed calling for food on the walkie talkie it was his general lethargy and lack of personality. Despite a big number of us he could not engage the business in hand and up himself a gear. By the time the last in our 3 family party was served the first family had eaten and were hats on ready to leave. Watching other customers toss their eyes at him was hilarious. Reeve the Baker has for a long time been my bakery of choice for delicious cakes, traybakes and freshly made goodies. They always have a great selection of yummy products but it often does get very busy, particularly at lunchtime so ordering can be a little chaotic. Favourites amongst my family and friends are the lemon tarts, flapjacks and the novelty iced biscuits although we've tried most things and like them all! Prices are a little on the expensive side, so we try not to visit too often. A lovely bakery with great products.

This bakery is set in a good location and is always nice and warm as you step in. They always have a good selection of breads, pastries and sandwiches. Said pastries are quite expensive, one bread stick was at least £1.20, which felt quite steep - but it was delicious. Their sandwiches seem very popular and worth giving a go, even if they are quite a lot pricier than supermarket sandwiches, but they are made in house and look brilliant in the display. The bakery gets quite busy at peak times, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

We booked Sunday lunch with my sister and brother in law, we wanted to try the Chestnut Horse with the intention to book for Christmas. The starters were lovely but not to be said for the main course, my sister and I had the roast beef, the beef was cut thickly and the whole plate full was verging on cold, my sister order extra cauliflower cheese which arrived towards the end of her meal. We ordered puddings, my sisters came first, ice cream, and ours arrived half an hour later and was not fully as we ordered. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic. Such a shame for a lovely country pub.
