we booked here for our 20th wedding anniversary party i wasnt happy with reeds at all and to be honest it spoilt our special night Firstly receptionist rang friday morning to tell us that we would have to move out of our room on the saturday and be put into a double room because they had double booked, i had booked the room june 2023 the other couple aug 24 when i told her i had booked a year before them i was told i had to move because she couldnt get hold of them and i could get a bottle in my room an half price for the double i booked a year before the couple so i should never have been phoned and put in that situation i was upset and if it had been the case i would have asked for a refund and moved the party as i was that annoyed and stressed i had to then brush my teeth in the bath after learning once started doing them the sink plug didnt work,also when my partner got a bath it flooded all over the floor we was told we could have the function room at 1pm on the saturday only to go down to find it wasnt ready no one would be in till 6pm when the party started at 7 so we then had to rearrange all tables which we had no idea how they went and try an sort table clothes ourselves much to the pastures managers disgust when he found out we then came down to have our party and just as we got there we was met by our family but was rudely interupted by the bar staff telling us that we had to pay the dj right now at £290, we said that it was £250 which he did not beleive us so i then had to go through my phone to show the other member of staff i was telling the truth by showing her my tx from the manager the dj was shocking people was moaning and when we asked for more up to date music he played 2 songs then went back to playing songs no one really knew as for the food i was absolutley disgusted i had paid around £16 per person for 60 people so you expect each person to be able to get 1 of everything but there was hardly anything available ,half of my guest did not eat anything due to not wanting anything so should be plenty but i went up i didnt have hardly anything as it was practically empty, my husband had to complain to see if they was bringing anymore out which we had to stand around waiting for them to fetch 2 more pizzas, we was lucky if there was even £100 of food then to top it off an hour after bringing it out they took it away surely it should have been left incase anyone wanted a bit of something later no one collected the plates from the tables so they was left all night and no one collected glasses other than once at around 20 past 11 all in all i am not happy with the service and the treatment we was given we was looking to book in november for a big party but i will now be going elsewhere as i was that disappointed and upset

A great location for different types of function. Generous amount of space. Good bar. Some issues with coffee/tea flask being tricky to operate self service. Buffet style food bit of a mixed bag, hot and cold, plenty and a fair selection, but the mushroom vol au vents were fabulous!

Went to funeral reception. Room good and buffet nice. Drinks are hotel priced so a little expensive.

We held our Wedding Ceremony and Reception at Reeds Hotel and Restaurant. Everything was perfect! The room looked stunning when set for the day and the outside space and added bonus on what was lovely sunny day. The location is perfect with open space and the waterway at the back for photo oportunities. Luke, Paula and the team could not have done any more to make the day perfect. Every one of them worked so hard from the morning to late in the evening. They made the day so special and welcomed all our guests with genuine warmth. Everyone there for the day commented on how well the team did and cared for every need. We will be forever grateful to all the team for helping make the day so special and memorable. Thank you G&T

Very quiet so was a bit worried bout the sunday lunch but shouldnt have been the food was absolutely fabulous one of the best ive had it was my partners 50th and all the family enjoyed thank you.

Had christmas dinner there as a family of 12 the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxed no rushing. The dinner itself was very nice and just the right space between courses

We attended my sons 50th birthday meal on the 27th December 2023 . Unfortunately things started off badly the service was very poor. Meals coming out one at a time after a very lengthy wait. And top top it the quality of food when we eventually got our order was sub standard . A very disappointing experience.

Decided to take advantage of the 2 night Booze and Snooze package and stay Sat 16th and Sunday 17th December. Friendly and efficient check-in service at the Hotel from Michelle and India. On Reception. Booked into Reeds for the Tina Turner Trubute night on the 16th. Excellent entertainment.. Delicious Festive Turkey 2 course dinner and great friendly service behind the bar. A great night with friends. Sunday 18th we had a table of 10 for the Sunday Lunch and entertainment from the brilliant Lauren Faye Moss with her greatest showman show. The Sunday was the perfect pre Christmas event and can't wait to book again next year. Great food. Great Service from Paula and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Monday Morning had fabulous tasty breakfast cooked to order. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs delish. If you want a great value stay in a great setting where you can enjoy am overnight with friends this is the only place. Thanks to Luke and his team for getting Christmas off to a great start

Visited as a 5 generation family for afternoon tea, and although what we were served was very tasty I was a little disappointed to find the only savoury items were sandwiches (had to pay extra for 3 sausage rolls. But 4 different cakes. Perhaps you could have 1 less cakes choice, and have another savoury eg. Pork pie or scotch egg, or slice of quiche.

Although what we had was lovely, we did pay extra for the deluxe afternoon tea experience, but had to ask for the glass of prosecco. Also noticed that we were given the selection of sandwiches that are on the normal afternoon tea, & not the deluxe selection.

We went to Pastures across the Carpark from Reeds but it was very busy. We saw that Reeds Restaurant was open, which was unusual, so we decided we’d try it. We like a leisurely Sunday Lunch & it was perfect. 3 Course Sunday Lunch for £27 well worth it! The portions were large & the food excellent. The staff were very attentive but not overbearing & the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Visited Reeds Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and had 2 great nights over the Festive Period. Christmas eve had a delicious 3 course meal, fillet steak was cooked as ordered and really tasty, a great starter of Fishcakes and the Cheeseboard dessert was the perfect end, very attentive service from the staff. New Years Eve 2022 well when I thought New years couldnt get any better, I was wrong This is the perfect venue for the new year, a fantastic 5 course menu and entertainment, great service again from the bar staff, this place really ticks all the boxes. Thanks to Luke and his team for an exceptionally great new years eve party.

Visited Reeds tonight for an Ad Hoc bit of Tea, place was busy and this I'm sure down to the wonderful new menu launched this week. Delicious Cod Fishcakes for starter and had the Sausages and Mash for main a great british classic presented with tasty vegetables and creamy mash. As a birthday treat for a friend I booked an afternoon tea here based on positive reviews. However, during our visit there were several observations which I chose to ignore at the time. Later in the day I checked out their Facebook page and came across a post advertising their afternoon tea which would set expectations of a better presented product & showing items that for us were missing. After commenting about our experience on the post twice the penny then dropped, they don't have any negative reviews on social media because they are deleted within minutes. In that case my feedback this time is going to be more substantial. On entering the restaurant we were faced with what I believed to be staff eating at a table in front of the bar, not a good 1st impression in my book. One of them did jump up to greet us, pointed at a booth & asked if we wanted tea or coffee before we had even got seated. Everything came quickly, in fact he was in such a rush he almost spilt the coffee, and I think he said that the refills for the coffee were included. From that point on, to us leaving no one checked once to see if we were happy or needed anything. We had refills twice & both times I had to go find a member of staff. The young woman who brought our refills was very helpful by the way. Little things do make a difference and I wonder if attention to detail was lacking on this occasion. There was no garnish with the sandwiches The scones minus a dusting of icing sugar were served with one tiny pot of jam and small portion of clotted cream, which was barely enough for two scones. And to top it off between the kitchen and the table someone scoffed our chocolates because they were missing as well! There was nothing wrong with the food but it was the presentation and ultimately the lack of service that let the experience down, which is a shame because it seems to be a lovely place. Maybe instead of checking reviews on social media actually focus on providing good customer service then ultimately you won’t spend as much time deleting negative reviews! P.s. If there had been a response to my original comment on their Facebook post I wouldn’t have turned to Trip Advisor.

Booked an afternoon tea through living social and whilst we had some difficulty in sorting out a date due to weddings we found the facility very nice. We were greeted on arrival by a friendly member of staff who gave us a seat in the window. The restaurant was clean and well presented with tasteful furniture and the afternoon tea whilst basic compared to others we have had in the past was freshly prepared and tasty. The food and drinks were served quickly although it was 1400hrs on a Monday and not busy. We checked out the dinner menu whilst on site and were impressed with the range and price of meals on offer. Due to the service and quality of food we will undoubtedly be returning to try the dinner menu in the future, highly recommended restaurant.

Fantastic Menu Resumed!!!!!!!! Was lucky to visit Reeds Last Night at the launch of the new menu, the new menu is certainly a welcome change and back to some great dishes cooked by Nathan and the team. Starters of Woodland Mushrooms, and a Prawn and Crayfish Cocktail (great portion of sea food and presented well) mains were amazing, Pork Fillet Gateux and the Halloumi and herb crusted cod loin, both great dishes and very tasty. And for dessert it had to be the Cheeseboard which was a delicious choice of cheeses to finish a great meal Service was tip top from Ellie and Luke the manager was on top form, very attentive service and great food. Can't wait to return and let the good times roll. Welcome Back Reeds......

I’ve been fortunate enough to buy a few Sunday lunches and afternoon teas from Groupon for here . Normally I find that when it’s Groupon it’s not as good , cheap in other words . However , I’ve had around 3 Sunday lunches (latest today) and 2 afternoon teas and just say thanks for the superb service , and for every time serving up consistently good food . The 3 course at around £22 is a steal anyway , so I’m sure this place will be on our list moving forward . Absolutely fabulous , well done guys and girls 👍 lovely jubbly , and the mushroom starter 🤔 the BEST in easily a 50 mile radius … see you soon .

For the last 10 years this has been our favourite place to eat wether it’s been lunch or dinner.. we have taken friends and relatives and they’ve all loved the food and the staff however now it’s been taken over by new owners things have changed as in the menu and the prices.. last night quite a few customers weren’t happy with the new menu and I was shocked at the price increase.. This is Mexbrough not London.. why try to fix things that aren’t broken.. thankfully it’s still the same lovely friendly staff and manager Luke

Visited Friday afternoon to try the new Tapas, arrived late afternoon and as usual the staff were very accommodating as we had not booked, we were shown to a table swiftly. The new afternoon Tapas menu is a great addition to the afternon tea menu. Tasty Tapas had the Prawns, the chicken and chorizo skewers and the Meatballs. Service was very attentive from the staff would recommend.

We had our second Sunday lunch with Reds in the past few months and were totally impressed once again. The front of house staff Amie Ellie were so friendly and hard working and always had a massive smile on their face. Luke ,the manager, is extremely charismatic and welcoming which made us feel welcome from arriving. The food was cooked superbly and well presented above and beyond what we expected from a hotel restaurant, well done the chefs. Would recommend Reeds to everyone who wants a lovely Sunday afternoon meal in relaxing warm and friendly surroundings We are definitely coming back here regularly

We went here on Sunday for a family Christmas party with the set menu. We have been to many different places over the years to have a family get together before Christmas. Reeds excelled and this will be the venue of choice from now on. This really is a hidden gem. They catered for 29 of us the other day and every single person thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Pro's: - Reasonably priced at £20 per adult for a four course meal (starter, main, dessert, coffee/mince pies.) - super friendly staff managed by Luke, an excellent personable manager - excellent service, all food was served in a timely manner and piping hot - delicious produce and good sized portions of home cooked food - very cosy well maintained environment tastefully decorated - a very relaxed service. A lot of these places are like a machine trying to churn you in and out to make money. Not here.... Con's: - Genuinely.... None that I can think of. My advice would be to give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.

Good food for a reasonable price. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and very child friendly. Friendly staff. The only down side is that it closes at 10 pm during weekdays and Sundays.

Called Saturday 9 of us all together the food was really good but reason for 3 stars was its nothing special staff was playing hide and seek maybe they was cold, you would have thought there was someone there ready to take orders for food and drinks, especially when there is 6 tables seated, wasn't worth the money sorry.

TLDR; Excellent food and service. Worth every penny. Okay, sometimes they have been a bit slow, clumsy and inaccurate. That said, they usually get everything spot on! The food is always excellent (please please please try the steak - you won't be disappointed).
