This a hidden gem a friendly welcoming little cafe . It’s very clean the staff know how to clean a table properly but moving the condiments out of the way to clean the table. The food is tasty and plentiful . It’s a small cafe but there are tables outside along the river front and outside at the rear . The pricing is spot on well worth every penny. The staff are efficient and helpful, went go out of their way to accommodate my daughter who has problems with sitting, they brought a cousin for er back .

Went down to look at the river and went into this wonderful café. The moment we opened the door, every member of staff greeted us with a smile on their faces and made us feel welcome. We had a late breakfast, where everything was perfectly done (including the poached eggs) and very reasonably priced. Our advice is to make the four minute walk out of the centre, away from the same old chain establishments and search out this warm and welcoming café.

Wonderful little find, a perfect friendly and welcoming stop for a coffee right by the river. We had enjoyed a huge breakfast at our B&B, so could not manage more than a coffee. However, the breakfasts looked awesome & the menu excellent & very reasonable too. Definitely worth a visit, the staff are so chatty & accommodating, some pretty gifts to browse & buy too. Thank you, we will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

I visited for my Mum's birthday for lunch. It was a spontaneous visit and we were not disappointed! There was a good range of lunch options, nice cakes with vegan options too. I had a vegan milkshake with cream, yummy. We both really enjoyed it as it was a lovely cafe, clean and organised. The food was good and Elena offered to heat up our plates if they weren't warm enough. They had a half price cake offer on too though unfortunately we couldn't take it up. Elena, our waitress, was especially lovely! Natural, friendly and helpful. Thank you very much to her and the team.

A very pleasant small place to eat. From snacks to meals. Extensive menu for all tastes. Cakes abound with choices. Main meal was well presented and good content amount. Fresh food made for your meal. Friendly staff. A great 'call' button system to get order placed with waiting staff. Similarly, a button to tell them you are ready to pay. Inside and outside spaces to eat on the river Trent side. Watch for the small sign on the road side or you will miss it.

We were greeted by a very pleasant lady who let us in & took us straight to the sanitising table. After we had duly cleansed our hands we were shown to a table and given sanitised menu cards. We chose our breakfasts and ordered coffee. Every part of the breakfast was superb. All fresh food, freshly cooked and delicious. So good in fact we returned the next day for another excellent breakfast. We noticed how very well they coped with the current Covid situation - for example, given a laminated card so we could track and trace. All customers were greeted & shown where to sanitise. The hygiene could not have been better. There is also an art gallery aspect to this cafe & it was delightful seeing the reasonably priced items on display. We shall definitely return next time we visit Gainsborough.

My husband and I have been a regular customers of Reeds Cafe, each time we go the staff are friendly; approachable; attentive and well organised. A smile is a welcoming sight and you get that at Reeds. The consistency of the high standard of customer care, makes Reeds a bench mark that we feel other Cafes should follow. The food is fresh tasty served freshly cooked, with a variety of dishes on the menu. Reeds has a “nothing is too much trouble” ethos running through this delightful Cafe. Please call into this popular Cafe and try it, we would advise you to book to avoid disappointment. On another note Nicki's cheesecakes are served in Reeds with a varied choice and are a really tasty and lovely treat!

We visited Reeds while visiting family. We booked in the day before. We were very impressed when we visited as we were met at the door and shown to our table. We were asked to use hand sanitiser as we entered. The café was clean, bright and tidy. The staff were so helpful and really friendly. We sat and were given the menus. There was a good selection of food and drinks. We ordered five breakfasts of different requirements. This was no problem and our order was taken cheerfully. We also ordered two teas, orange juice, a glass of milk and a coffee. Our drinks arrived and were all perfect. I loved the glass tea pots. My coffee was perfection. We spotted some locally made items. We decided to buy a vase and oil burner. Lovely, well priced pieces. Around ten minutes later our breakfasts arrived. These were fantastic. They tasted really well good. It was all well cooked and tasty. We went to pay and found a counter well shielded and contactless. Again great service. The bathroom was clean and tidy too. This is all on one floor and accessible. I would absolutely recommend a visit to Reeds. It really is a great spot to eat and we would definitely want to eat outside in better weather.

If you are strolling by the river Trent then this is a definite stop shop. It's on a walk that if you know it is there you can temper your walk to coincide with a coffee break and is often very welcome. If I am honest I have to say it is not the fastest to serve you but unless you are in a hurry what does it matter if it is a bright sunny day you sit, wait, chat and generally enjoy yourself and are then rewarded with your order. The butties are to die for and like the wife she likes a pot of tea and a toasted t.cake whereas I like a bacon butty and a Latte. You can order an all day breakfast or a piece of cake or whatever takes your fancy from this little gem of a coffee shop. All in all it is always an absolute pleasure to stop here as the wife and I are in need of a walk we just walk to Reeds, have our fill and then walk back again fully refreshed.

This was a fantastic find. Excellent food, pleasant surroundings, attentive service. We both had full English breakfasts. Everything including the delicious bacon poached eggs & granary bread were cooked to perfection. For me though, fresh rather than canned tomatoes would have been nice. Be that as it may this is a lovely little place right next to the Trent. Five stars would be well in order here, so why only four? I know many people like their rooms heated to be comfortably toasty but this place was tropical, so much so that it actually detracted from the pleasure of the visit. Entered here at 4 mins to 10 as the doors were open, only to be barked at by a member of staff to "Get out!!". Sat outside, were going to order the so called bigger breakfast, questionable about the use of the word 'Bigger'. Sausage, bacon, toms, toast, SCRAMBLED EGG? 'WHAT' I hear you cry, no fried eggs, no hash browns, no fried bread???? Perhaps if I as 5foot tall a s had the appetite of an ant then this may be considered a Bigger Breakfast, however for £6 you can keep it. So ordered a coffee instead, which arrived some 15 minutes later? Think they went and picked the beans themselves as we were the only customers. The coffee arrived and was slammed on the table by the waitress who didn't even speak, drank it in 5 second as it was cold. Won't be returning, poor service, exaggerated prices and awful staff. Went into town and got 2 full breakfast and two drinks at just £10. So much food on this breakfast I was stuffed.

We recently called in at Reeds for some lunch and were very pleased with the service and food that we got. They have a large selection of sandwiches, baguettes and paninis to choose from with the option to have one, two or three fillings. I had a baguette and my partner had a panini, both were delicious and served with a pot of coleslaw and a side salad. My only complaints are that the crockery was looking a stained and could do with replacing and the loose leaf tea pot with a filter in the centre didn't work too well and there was quite a lot of tea leaves in the bottom of the pot and our cups.Still, glad we visited and would probably call again if we were in the area.

It is with sadness that I file this review. I have been a big fan of Reeds over the years and been regularly, having excellent food and service. Today however as someone who is newly diagnosed with an illness which requires Gluten free products. When I asked if they had anything GF in snacks or cakes . I was informed they had nothing. So I had coffee which was good as usual whilst my friend had a bacon bap. On leaving I mention that i was disappointed with no GF choice I was told that they did 5 yrs ago and no one wanted it so it was all wasted. Also they do have things that don't have gluten in them wanted a meal. or bring my own things in. For me GF diet is new , not a fad having serious implications to my health and bringing my own food into a coffee shop is surely not what they would want to encourage., I found the attitude was one of not interested. Sorry Reeds but you can have bought in GF bars to have available and not make someone not wanted. And some non GF people might just eat them too. Three stars for the coffee no stars for the rest.

Lovely food Polit and friendly staff Warm and welcoming Will be going again 10 out of 10 I'm not very good at doing this, all I can say is written above. The place was busy at the time we went but nothing was to much trouble. The food came out nicely presented and hot. If we go back it says it all, you don't revisit if you don't get good sevise we did and will be going again.

Visited on a Saturday lunch for a breakfast. Highly recommended with local farm sausages and bacon. Plenty of choice including how your eggs and tomatoes are cooked and you can add extras such as black pudding. Staff are very attentive and friendly and food freshly cooked whilst you wait. Absolutely delicious!

Tucked away out of sight of the main road, Reeds offers friendly service, an excellent breakfast and value for money. We were looking for a really good Sunday morning breakfast and found it here. We would never have found it without trip advisor.

Sat outside on the Trent bank full breakfast and coffee just the place to eat and relax on a warm September morning great service and attention to detail. Regulars don't want to tell people how good the place is but someone has to.

It was a year since we last visited but after walking along the riverbank with four adults and two young children it was a handy place to stop. The service and food were very good and the prices were reasonable. The horrible frying smell no longer seemed to be present but that could have been because it was not very busy. All in all its certainly not somewhere to avoid and we will visit again if we're nearby but I wouldn't make a special journey.

Called in here many times, coffee's are always great but service is always slow and I mean slow.So called yesterday and coupled a coffee with a breakfast baguette. For a bit of fun I thought I would time it, arrived 12.40, cafe only 4 tables occupied, 12.48 order was taken, 12.58 coffee arrived, 1.16 baguette arrived, what coffee i had saved to drink with my meal was now cold.I must admit the baguette was lovely and freshly cooked, but I hate to think how long I would have had to wait if the place was busy. The cafe is a little way off the beaten track and would rely on repeat business, workers with an hour lunch break would struggle to be served. It,s a great little place offering generous size coffee's and good food so come on sort the service problems out

Popped in after I visited the wool shop round the corner, husband past the shop whilst I was shopping, suggested a cup of tea, but had lunch, delicious eggs benedict with local bacon, best we've eaten, great menu available, loose leaf tea was perfect. The coffee shop is very clean and staff very helpful, just off the beaten track but worth a stop.

Visited Reeds for a birthday breakfast with family and was not disappointed! Breakfast special was excellent value for money, more than enough on the plate for the largest appetite. Place a little cramped, but fairly quiet, so noise was no problem. Definitely worth a visit

Been a regular here for quite sometime. However, the last few lunches have been awful. The hygiene has also dropped. Wont go back to just throw food away. Dissapointing as was once a cracking cafe

Love this pub. Good food, good portions, sensible prices and lovely staff, very friendly with a great atmosphere. Can sit outside too when rain threatens as there’s a tasteful awning with tables underneath.Beautifully clean too. Coming back to sample the Saturday breakfast.
