Redcliffe Hotel in Highland

We found this place by chance and it was quiet outside, on a nice sunny day; there were five of us (four adults and one child), and were given a table near the pizza oven part of the external court. The staff were good with us and the food was also well made, and the waiting was not too long. We had a lovely experience and would be very happy to return.

We went for an early evening dinner. We received a friendly welcome from the waiter who was attentive throughout. The menu has something for everyone. We ordered steak and Thai curry which were both well presented and delicious, followed by coffees. The portions were big too. I don't know why this place isn't busier as we really enjoyed the visit. We will be back.

First time and won’t be the last. Not a big menu which allows them to focus on quality and boy did they deliver. Salmon and Lasagne for mains were so tasty but nothing compared to the STP, it was stunning. I must mention the staff, they were superb and very friendly.

Firstly we could not fault the food. On arrival we were rushed to our table by the older foreign waitress (Romanian or Spanish) and handed menus with no welcome or dialogue. We waited quite a long time before she took the drinks order when she was very abrupt bordering on rude. There was a lovely polite foreign waiter who served our food but our experience was blighted by the waitress. She really needs to go on a customer care course.

We have just celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday at the Redcliffe and I couldn’t fault anything. We were a party of 21 and the staff could not have made us feel more welcome and went out of their way to make it a memorable occasion, despite being short staffed. The food was excellent, everyone in the party really enjoyed their meal. I see some previous comments are quite negative, especially towards the staff which I think is a bit unfair, as I could see how hard they were working. I would recommend this restaurant and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Very rude and abrupt staff. They add tips on your bill willy nilly with no ryheme or reason. Nowhere in the menu foes it state that. Did I say very rude staff. Won't be back in a hurry, shame because the pizzas were kind but not worth the hassle.

Embarrassment to Scotland!! Just had lunch here as locals but haven’t been for ages it seams to have changed hands and I can not assure you not into safe ones ! Absolutely abrupt lady met us at the door and showed us to our table we were then given menus and asked what we would like to drink these were put down in front off us iron brew can with 69 pence stamped all over it !! Ok so now time to order the reason we went in was because we seen squat lobster Mac and cheese on the menu for people that don’t know what squat lobsters are they are called squaties in Scotland they are similar to a prawn but only found in the west coast of Scotland and are simply Devine so looking forward to this dish immensely!! I asked for the fish n chips comes in batter I asked the charming waitress if I could have it done in breadcrumbs in stead off batter I got a roll off the eyes and a huge sigh ! Anyway what was delivered to the table was the smallest piece off fish I did ever see !! And the show stopper squat lobster Mac n cheese WAS DRYED UP TINY CRAYFISH NOT SQUAT LOBSTER!! So nobody came back to see if we enjoyed our lunch and nobody asked at point of payment if we enjoyed our lunch !! We normally tip big but we collected the 40 pence change and left !! Biggest tip I can offer this establishment is drop the attitude and put on the plate what is on the menu!! Won’t be back

Shocking We will never be back.Omg the Romanian waitress was the worst we have ever experienced,What an attitude.My husband went up to bar and asked for a gin with a slice of lime as I do not take lemon.Drinks were brought out and my gin had 2 slices of lemon.I complained and the Romanian started shouting at my husband you asked for Lemon.(he did not)if that is the way people want to run their businesses with cheap ignorant labour shame on you.We won’t be back and we will not be recommending your sad excuse for a restaurant.Food was mediocre.steak too thin to be cooked medium.By the way I am a chef.When we left the blonde waitress was getting torn into said waitress about her attit On several occasions tonight.Well that’s enough for me to endorse our night.Thanks for spoiling my 65 th birthday meal

Had dinner here solo, looking for a nice last meal to round out my trip. After many great experiences elsewhere, I expected the same here. Boy was I disappointed. I was thrilled to see they had a vegan menu and ordered from it; unclear if this was the reason my food was so bland? Service was uneven (but pleasant enough), and just led to me rushing out of there. Charming lookout, but otherwise wouldn’t come back. Spend your money elsewhere in Inverness.

The food was good and the staff was friendly; but clearly very under-staffed. Everything felt very rushed and like we had to constantly hurry up because the waitress was so busy. It's a great, hidden little gem in Inverness but they desperately need better staffing.

Service was minimal with a waitress who appeared to be stoned and smelled of weed. Flat pint of moretti, complimentary water with half a fruit shop floating inside. Food was okay, underbattered fish, undertrained staff, underwhelming experience

Not a good experience. 6 of us went out to celebrate a birthday, all of which found fault with the meal or service. Firstly the service, the waitress was very rude to us and to another table around us, to the point where she was seen shouting to kitchen staff in front of us and muttering something under her breath as she served us our meal - very unprofessional. Even though there was only one other table in the restaurant, it felt as if we asking for too much when we requested to order more drinks, as she begun sighing and rolling her eyes. The food - the pizza was not cooked enough, and one of my family members found a black hair in his spaghetti carbonara. All of us found the food to be bland and not up to scratch. We definitely won’t be returning.

Was OK. Service was average, or bad but not overly friendly. Food was well prepared. Good choice of wines. Very short walk from the accommodation across the road.

Booked lunch here for myself, partner and our child. Straight away decor is dated/ wallpaper peeling off the wall etc doesn’t look anything like the pictures. We were sat at the table and asked for a high chair. They only have 1 high chair for the restaurant which hadn’t been cleaned and is really difficult to use. High chair is big and sits about 2 foot away from the table which wasn’t ideal for a nice family meal. We asked the lady who seated us, believe she is either restaurant manager or owner but she was abrupt and accused us of breaking it. We didn’t and my partner sorted it but we were offended. We ordered food, a starter portion for our toddler and a main each. We asked for it to all arrive at the same time but the toddler dish was a good 10 minutes before our mains. My partner asked if the food was coming and the same lady said again abruptly “it’s coming” the food arrived, she placed it down and didn’t say a word. I’d ordered the carbonara which was fine, but my partner had ordered their “wood fired pizza” the pizza ends were cooked but the middle, base and toppings were still raw. She knew we were unhappy, at the point of paying the bill she didn’t ask if everything was ok to avoid the embarrassment. Completely overpriced, rude manager/owner, disappointing establishment. Will not be back and would not recommend.

We were staying at the Redcliffe and while in town decided to eat there that night. Have to say everything was perfect, table, staff, food, beer, gin, everything g was excellent. I had pizza, freshly cooked in their own oven. Sweet potato chips were superb. Customer Service was great from all the staff. The others in our party also really liked their meals. We are in the townhouse for accommodation and are really happy with the rooms, comfy, clean and great views!!!

Despite making a booking it appeared that they didn’t have it. They spoke to the manager and then offered us a table. We got to order drinks and they took our order quite quickly. Our food appeared fast but I’m afraid that was the last thing they seemed to do for us! Once we had finished our food we eventually got hold of a waitress so we could order another drink which we got …. All the while our empty plates were still sitting. We gave up on having dessert as we didn’t feel they actually wanted us there so paid the bill and left.

Great venue, plenty of outside space, friendly staff. Awesome food, really really enjoyed ourselves, twice!

Comimos aquí la semana pasada con amigos y quedaron tan impresionados con el menú y el sabor que preguntaron si podíamos volver a comer aquí. La mayoría tenían eglefino y patatas fritas y dijeron que estaba muy sabroso. El personal es muy amable y el servicio fue rápido. Ahora hay un área cubierta al aire libre para que por las noches pueda sentarse y tomar una copa.

¡El mejor bistec que he probado en un restaurante!excelente calidad y cocinado a la perfección con un impresionante sabor a parrilla.La comida, el servicio y el ambiente fue excepcional.Tuvimos nuestra comida en el área del invernadero, todo el lugar se ve impresionante y estaba decorado con un alto nivel, un ambiente muy relajante.Todos los miembros del personal somos muy amables y atentos.Lo recomendaría encarecidamente y sin duda volveremos.Todo estaba impecablemente limpio y desinfectado, y se tomaron todas las medidas para cumplir con las pautas de covid 19.

The food was very good, good portions and the qualify was first rate. Service was a bit patchy and we were made to feel uncomfortable when we decided not to order alcohol. Arrival was confusing and poorly organised.

Fui hoy para una comida familiar. El servicio fue terrible, esto se debió principalmente al hecho de que de todo el personal que trabajaba allí, solo una señora estaba haciendo todo el trabajo en lo que respecta a las comidas. Además, no se mantuvo el distanciamiento social en absoluto y en un momento se sentaron a otra familia justo al lado de nosotros y tuve que pedirles que se mudaran debido a las reglas de COVID. Al final, esperamos tanto tiempo en el desierto. Solicité cancelarlos. El propietario salió de detrás de la barra y dijo que estaba estresado porque estaban ocupados. Y que había tenido un mal día y no estaba interesado en lo más mínimo en nada de lo que tenía que hacer. ¡decir! Teniendo en cuenta que nuestra factura era una cantidad considerable, este fue un final horrible para nuestro tiempo.

Aunque lo intentaríamos aquí, ya que no habíamos estado en mucho tiempo. Era diciembre y afortunadamente era viernes, ya que nos informaron que no se servían almuerzos de lunes a viernes. (No estoy seguro si es algo estacional). Fuimos los primeros en estar y nadie entró cuando estuvimos allí, lo cual es una pena. Un vaso de gemido blanco y el menú nos ayudaron a disfrutar de un momento de relax. El miembro del personal que vimos fue muy amable y el servicio era bueno. Comida muy sabrosa, aunque sentí que la porción principal era un poco grande para mí. Precio razonable y vale la pena una visita.

Das Restaurant ist normal gross und war in der Zeit wo wir da waren nie ausgebucht. Das Personal ist freundlich aber nicht aufmerksam. Das Essen ist lecker aber nicht eine Wucht.

Encantador hotel, muy limpio y las habitaciones están impecables, una gran selección de cafés y tés en la habitación y muy impresionado con el baño e incluso tenía un espejo de aumento. El desayuno fue un poco decepcionante ya que no había mucha selección y muy lento para conseguir un par de desayunos cocinados. En general, es un lugar muy agradable para alojarse e incluso tenía una vista del castillo de Inverness desde nuestra habitación, que era bastante especial.

Unser B&B war in der Nähe und daher gingen wir auf gut Glück hierhin Essen. Da hatten wir sehr grosses Glück. Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Dessert, alles war sehr köstlich zubereitet und hübsch präsentiert. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam, sehr freundlich und nett. Der Raum zum Essen ist sehr hell und freundlich dank grossen Fenstern. Es hat auch noch Gartensitzplätze um bei schönem Wetter draussen essen zu können. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und können mit gutem Gewissen ein Besuch empfehlen.

Initially went there out of convenience - but came back for the food. Not a large menu nor is the wine selection out of this world. What they have is cooked well the wine better than average and the service though young is good..

Great food, lovely steak, cooked as requested, greatest sticky toffee pudding, admittedly I never had it before all these years visiting the UK, but I was told by "natives" it was really good.Selecting wines was a poor experience, they didn't have the first I selected, then also not the 2nd, and after selecting a 3rd bottle the wrong one was brought to the table.Shame these young waitresses nowadays can let good restaurants so down and don't give a sh!t.At least the food was really nice, so yeah, I would come back.

i was in the single room that was basically a cupboard above the kitchen. needless to say all the smells from the kitchen came directly into my broom cupboard. service was just about the worst i have ever had

Nos alojamos en un lugar encantador y estar cerca y el propietario nos recomendó este lugar para nuestra cena de llegada en Inverness. La ubicación es excelente y, aunque el clima era demasiado frío para sentarse afuera, el interior era agradable, aunque estaba lleno. El servicio fue simplemente horrible. Newly refurbished but always was a great place for a meal or a christmas works meal. Staff are so nice too.

Lo pasamos de maravilla en este hotel. Cerca del centro de Inverness, buen desayuno, personal muy amable, especialmente la señora que servía el desayuno y Chloe detrás del bar.

Went as a party of 20 for evening meal and party games , 3 main meals were not served until others were finished , they had been forgotten , the 3 late meals were not cooked through and were left , no apologies given or mony back given . Around 10.30 we were asked to keep noise down , there were no other diners and we were laughing at jokes !!! so overall not a great venue !

Booked a table here last night for a party of 9. The restaurant was not at all busy, but despite the food being as good as ever, the service was very slow, and one of the starters was forgotten, which meant it was served after everybody else had finished theirs. Hopefully this was just an 'off-night' as we all felt a bit disappointed Probably if Derek had been in charge, things would have been different.

Lovely birthday dinner with great food and friendly staff. Cosy atmosphere and a good time had by all.

Having just arrived, and our accommodations being across the street, they took us on short notice. Food was very good at reasonable prices.

Four of us were staying in a nearby B&B; and came back from a long tour. We saw the restaurant sign and stopped in for pizza but they didn’t serve it that night. We decided to stay for dinner and it was a good choice. We ordered from the nice menu and ordered a bottle of red wine. We were all tired so it was the perfect ending for the day. Our waitress was quite attentive which we appreciated.

Llegue a Inverness un domingo a la tardecita, encontré este restaurante y la verdad lo recomiendo. Tiene mucho estilo, buen ambiente y amplia variedad de platos. Tiene un formato de menú por pasos si llegas más temprano y es más económico. Te recomiendo probar el sea bass con risotto de brócoli, delicioso. La atención es excelente.

Estábamos en un grupo de 30 celebrando una boda de diamantes - Un entorno agradable y la comida es muy buena, pero estábamos tan metida en ese servicio de mesa no existe. Sentados en tres mesas largas nuestra comida, tazas y platos vacíos y platillos, etc. tenía que ser aprobado por la línea de persona a persona, ya que no había espacio entre las mesas para las camareras para servir individualmente. No fue una buena experiencia para personas mayores y la palabra "avaricia" vino a la mente en cuanto a los propietarios.

El personal es excelente. Entrantes estamos bien y de buen tamaño. Plato principal, muchos de nosotros tuvimos que filetes todos pensamos que era encantador, pero por el precio que tiene. Destacaban los defraudarlos. La creme brûlée no es tan bonito como parece. Y no poco liquidee donde como agradable en su hotel hermano. Un entorno muy cansados y si el sol fuera el invernadero es caliente. Zona de estar al aire libre agradable y muy cerca de la ciudad.

Dieses Restaurant bietet traditionelle Küche, die nicht raffiniert sein will, aber ordentlich schmeckt. Der Wirt ist ein rühriger und umsichtiger Mann, der die Gäste freundlich empfängt.

Se volete evitare i luoghi turistici, questo è un buon locale. La specialità è il pesce eglefino ovvero haddock con piselli e patatine! Molto buono il pollo con le nocciole e il tortino ai funghi!

Confusión pronto como llegamos, qué te pedir de menú? Lo acordado. Personal totalmente desconocidas a. Un grupo grande, la comida servida en los pedidos extraños, arroz salieron crudas. . . Reemplazo volvió peor. El personal obviamente querían terminan de salir de la puerta. Servicio de capacitación. simple. . etc. Pedir bebidas, menús, lo explicar fuera de orden en el menú, n vino, cuidar de la orden. . . Podría seguir pero esta vez le faltaba un servicio sencillo a todos los miembros del personal. Sabrosos platos principales. Espero fue un día como todos somos humanos.

A top quality meal and welcome at the Redcliffe Hotel. What a great location; very close to the city centre yet quiet and away from noisy traffic. Hotel restaurant is cosy with friendly and efficient staff. A varied and different menu with good deals for early diners. One of the better restaurants in Inverness in our experience.

We had a family lunch with our 87 year old mother and experienced very good service. Our table in the conservatory was perfect and the food for our party of 5 was enjoyed by everyone. I would highly recommend this venue. Anita Parker

We celebrated my daughter's birthday last night with family and were delighted with the excellent service provided by Rui and the waiting staff. The food was delicious: unpretentious and hearty dishes, and Rui was attentive and efficient with a welcoming manner.

We were only in the hotel for a meal, which was very enjoyable. The service from our waiter, Rui, was excellent. Surroundings in the dining area are very comfortable, and we were made feel very welcome. Good choice of meal options.

Old hotel setting on the corner of the Crown area of town. 5 minute walk from the centre. The food is reasonably priced in the early dinner menu and was of high quality. Rui was very polite, delivering great service and advice on the menu.

Ideal para familias, buen menú para satisfacer todos los gustos, servida en un ambiente agradable, cerca del centro de la ciudad, con estacionamiento. I’ve been in this restaurant during my trip around Scotland. Very nice restaurant with attentive service. I would really recommend it.

We have just enjoyed another excellent meal at the Redcliffe. Our table overlooked Inverness Castle in a quiet corner of the conservatory. Rui, the barman, was a charming and attentive member of staff who made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Our waitress was absolutely delightful. I had sea bass on risotto and my husband chose the duck breast. Both dishes were cooked to perfection.

We enjoyed a lovely family dinner at Redcliff. Our waiter Rui made our meal extra enjoyable. He was very helpful with our choice of food as well with wine selection. As a starter, we went with the recommendation of duck eggs and asparagus. Perfectly prepared and not too heavy. For main course we each choose a different dish and all were very well good and the quality of the meats was superb. Our choices for main were steak, lamb and a vegetarian cheese pie. We will be back next year and will definitely come back to the Redcliff!

We were at the Radcliffe hotel for lunch today and it was absolutely brilliant. From the moment we arrived until we left we were very well treated. The standard of the food was excellent, and beautifully presented. For a main course 2 of us had smoked chicken, avocado, mango and cashew nut salad. It was brilliant, and a good sized portion as well. Even though we didn't have room for sweets we still managed them. I had a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, again delicious. I would strongly recommend here, plenty of parking, and easy access to the town centre.

Last minute booking for 4 people dining. 6.15 table booked online, very simple instructions to follow. Staff, cleanliness, food, value, portions all flawless.. Definitely would go back when back in Inverness.

At lunchtime, ordered drinks at the bar, sat down, after 10 minutes enquired if the drinks were coming, told 'we're busy' (large lunch party expected), so we left. The staff could have told us on entering the bar. Completely unprofessional.

We sat outside on the covered patio and enjoyed listening to bagpipes playing at the castle. The patio had heaters and blankets so that we could stay warm but enjoy the atmosphere. We had a delicious pizza from the wood-fired pizza oven. The cheesecake was even better! The breakfast was delicious. Our friends reported that the stroganoff was delicious, as well.

We has tickets booked for Skipinish at Eden Court and decided to take friends to the Redcliffe Hotel for dinner. What a gem of a find. I started with tempura chicken with a chilli mayo. Very nice. Main was a medium rare rump steak cooked to perfection. Only complaint, way to many tasty new potatoes. Finished with a lemon tart with wild berry sorbet. Wonderful and tart and really finished off a great meal. My better half had the scallop starter and a massive chicken supreme for her main. Our friends were equally impressed especially with the home made chocolate brownie with white chocolate sauce. A bottle of wine for the rest (driving again) and the total was just over £100. A great meal in a nice relaxed restaurant with attentive staff. We will definitely be back to try the wood burning pizza oven.

We visited as a large group of 22 for a family birthday. All the meals were delicious, the service excellent and we were not rushed at all. Fantastic night. We put on our order 2 days ahead and had the set meal with welcome drink. Extensive menu selection available on it and really good value. We will return!

Lovely welcome, everything in order, handed menu, asked for drinks2 starters came and both worth a pic for presentation And both as good to eat!I never took phone so onto taste.....bang on.Mains of steak for me, cooked as per asked but being hyper critical it was just too much garlic butter, I love garlic and butter but it was nearly a soup!She went for a roast veg tarte with halumi cheese, another A1Pudding......... well that's the wife's forte.....Firstly sweet presentation.?...well worth another pic and looked good enough to eat....and yes it was gulped up. We are from Inverness and we have been here often in the last year or so and "CAN'T FAULT IT"

I want to start off saying the food was absolutely delicious! Rating food alone I would of given an Excellent rating. Steak was cooked perfect and the best scones I have had since arriving in Scotland❣The fish was tender and flakey, and avocado salsa was wonderful. The staff was very friendly but was not attentive! They disappeared fir 15 minutes leave and you sitting there waiting, we were out of water and tea) they came with our food and brought us more Tea and water. They again were unseen appearing that they both went on break at the same time (Saw one walking back from car and other came back through a side door. I told them we felt like we were deserted, and are ready for handmade. They were absolutely worth the wait. A few other factors lowering my rating is unclean salt and pepper shakers, slight mold on water cap, and the plastics boxes with towels strapped above your heads ( I thought please don't rain I'd hate for it to fill up and drip on me!).

Had breakfast here this morning. Wow!! Absolutely delicious. Great coffee, great service, great environment. Great way to start a busy day.

we popped in for afternoon coffee and decided to call in early evening to have a bite to eat, we had the best fish and chips we have ever had.thank you.we sat in the bar after eating and had a couple of drinks,this place is so relaxing

This is the best meal we have eaten in our 15 years in Inverness. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. This will definitely become a regular treat for us.

I highly recommend that you stop in for their Sunday roast. Everything was delicious and the service was very friendly.

Menu had a good selection and presentation and taste was vvery good. Certain nights there is a wood fire pizza oven on the go too.The chef also has a nightly special, this keeps the menu interesting , locals keep an eye out here.

Returned back here for a quiet birthday family celebration. Waiter was kind enough to isolate the speaker above us. Food was delicious and plentiful.Hadn't expected late booking to be approved considering it is the Loch Ness Marathon weekend, and then I wondered if we would be rushed through, or food quality would be poor. Need't have worried.Thank you very much for an enjoyable birthday dinner. Damn, maybe I should have mentioned that - I might have gotten a freebie lol :)

Derek, the owner, was also our bus driver for the golf trip. He picked us up from the hotel. Upon arrival, we chose to sit on the patio. It was very quaint, comfortable, and clean. Our group enjoyed everything from gourmet wood-fired pizzas, to succulent lamb and steaks. Each was delicious! Very friendly staff! I will make this a "must" stop recommendation to all my friends.

Was meeting a friend for a quick drink and a catch up. Wasn't interested in eating, but staff were quite happy for us to sit in the beautiful restaurant and chat away. No one leapt to turn on some music or the TV thankfully, so bonus points for that!Their outdoor decking/bbq area looks fantastic - shame the weather wasn't cooperating.

Rocked up with no reservation and no expectations really for dinner, just gave it a whirl instead of heading to town for the usual places and we found the food and staff very good!Seems like other reviewers have had a mixed bag but for food we found it to supply good pub grub if not spectacular. Lovely beer garden to shade from the rain if required and a quiet, nice atmosphere.

Been to this restaurant several times as a couple and as a family. Kids menu had the choice of chicken with potatoes, (no gravy included) we had to ask for vegetables, how dry for little children to digest. Redcliffe burger not quit cooked. Ordered coffee, 5 minutes later was told coffee machine not working, then told it would be a further 5 minutes, eventually got what I would call tepid milk with 2 coffee beans on top. Refused to drink or pay for coffee. Restaurant carpet could certainly to with cleaning. Meal cost £88.00 really gone down hill. Waitress very pleasant I must admit.

We enjoyed our meal here a lot. We were really tired after a long day so we tried this restarant right across from our B&B. We were pleasantly surprised, the steak were a little thin so it ended up a little closer to well done than medium but I can live with that when everything else is good.

Single room booked for one night £88 including breakfast.Room I've seen a bigger cupboard. Holes in the walls and needing refreshed. Evening meal- fish and hand cut chips. They were frozen chips!Breakfast- everything on the menu which was cooked had eggs so went for cooked breakfast minus the eggs. Cold bacon and reheated sausage! Bill came to over £100 overall.Definitely will not be staying there again.

I have never been to this restaurant before and hadn't heard much about it so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. We attended a 60th birthday meal and it was beautiful and extremely good value for money. We were a very large party and the staff coped extremely well and the service was faultless.

not a lot more to add really. I stay here occasionally for work and have never been disappointed. Bedrooms are small but well appointed, staff are always pleasant. Evening meals are a fairly standard menu but nothing to complain about. Breakfast is freshly cooked and first class

Not impressed at first on parking up due to being early and a number of parking slots reserved. Took a single room and unfortunately ended up in the cellar with no windows. Through the night from 11 to 7 had a low residue light on. So not the best of sleeps. The restaurant was quite so food came quickly. Must say the food though small was exceptional so order starter and mains. The breakfast menu had a good choice and served well. The staff were welcoming, helpful and very pleasant. If I stayed again I would pay the extra for a room with a view.

Visited here on a Monday night to celebrate a BIG birthday, but didn't tell the hotel, didn't want a fuss. Not busy so a pleasant atmosphere. We were seated in the conservatory which was lovely.Our party consisted of 7 adults and 1 child (10 years old). Lots of choice on the kids menu, ours chose mince and tatties, said it was OK, not as good as Dads!! We had a variety of starters, main courses and puddings. All were very good, tasty and hot. The sugar art on the desserts was amazing!!My only criticism would be that service wasn't as quick as we would have liked, but we weren't rushing.Would definitely go back.

Just up the hill from the city center, this is certainly worth a visit. Recommended by our B&B hosts just down the street at the Ardconnel House, we visited at the end of a long day of travel. Although there was a very large birthday celebration going on, the manager sat us in the (at that time) quiet bar area. Service was good and the wood-fired pizza tasty. I'd certainly go again.

My wife and I stumbled on this restaurant by accident after being turned away from a dozen others on a busy Saturday night. They had room, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was authentic and local.

I just celebrated my birthday here, and I was so impressed by how above and beyond the staff went. Having been clued in by a travel companion, the staff brought me a chocolate birthday cake and sang me happy birthday. It was a nice surprise and a delicious cake! The food was also great and the setting was good for group dining! Overall, a great experience!

This restaurant was across from our hotel, so it was very convenient and in a good location. The salmon that we ordered was excellent, and an interesting side was fried kale, which was absolutely delicious. Even though we had made reservations, there were few people in the dining room, so it was a lovely, quiet dinner. The waitstaff was a friendly girl from the former Soviet Union. She was very nice. Our table looked out onto the street with beautiful homes with stately architecture. It was a lovely evening.

We ordered 4 pizzas & bottle of wine. Wine came sans glasses. Eventually after asking several times, got glasses. Ordered 4 pizzas. Got 3, because the waitress 'did not hear one of our orders' So we got cutlery for only 3 of us. Became farcical, as they only had 3 pizzas left. Then got a free burger to compensate. Not in a hurry to return.

Upon entering the hotel we were greeted and sat in the bar where drinks were purchased from the bar. We were given menus to ponder whilst waiting to be seated in the restaurant.The menu is simple and caters for all tastes.£6 starters (Varying in quality and quantity but not price)£10 Main :- Certainly worth the money for the fish dishes and the rump steak (even if slightly overcooked)£17.95 Chef Special:- here is where the issue arose. The Rack of lamb as advertised as lovely as it tasted, was in fact half the size of most of the starters and 3 times the cost.When a complaint was lodged with the waitress, she described the dish and offered no reason for its lack of quantity. She then said she would speak to the chef. Time passed, food chilled, no reply was given.When the manager was requested, he was not in and may be back soon! A younger waitress dealt with us from then on and I must say, was helpful and reduced the cost of the 'Chef special' to a reasonable £10 to fall in line with the other mains that were far more plentiful.If it were not for her intervening, I fear we may still be waiting for the return of the 'manager'.A restaurant with such potential, relatively nice food and poor service times. As a footnote, the bar is also managed by the racing waitresses and the time waiting to be served for drinks could be much improved.Back to the drawing board Redcliffe Hotel. At the moment, you are failing to reach the standard required to meet the competition in the local area.

We were sat in the conservatory, a better location than the tables inside the building.We were looking forward to good food from what the menu described.I ordered the potatoes, red onions and rump steak.Potatoes were acceptable, just half cooked and crunchy onions were rubbish and 2 tiny pieces of tough meat, I would guess each piece was maybe 1.5oz's (about 43grams), I would be very surprised if it was actually rump.My wife ordered meat Stroganoff, quantity was ok, but the dish was tasteless, with none of the Stroganoff characteristics, just a bland creamy sauce.I would describe the staff as surly and uninterested.

Went here for pizza as they advertised fresh pizza from new pizza oven,but we're told pizza oven not working. So we then decided to have high tea. We ordered wine while waiting and noticed glass had lipstick mark..Waitress changed glass promptly. We ordered from main course menu which had a good choice.Very basic fish and chips (with very few chips).Then came the very poor selection of cakes a scone with little cream and jam already in it. A tiny piece shortbread and a dry piece of gingerbread hidden under a lump of cream! And a tiny bit of buttery fudge which we left because of taste. Well overpriced for a High Tea compared to other places in the area and I would not recommend it. We paid £44 including our house wine.

Whilst not staying there, we ate in their restaurant twice as it was very close to where we were staying and it was raining both nights.The fare was very nice, and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were looking for somewhere to have dinner the week before my mums big birthday celebrations. My younger brother and I have very different tastes when it comes to dining out so after a lot of back and forth this was chosen. On his part he felt the menu was basic and not pretentious and for me, well I was just glad I got him to agree to somewhere other than McDonald's! We booked a table for 7.30pm and arrived to a warm greeting. The place was very quiet, only two other diners the whole time we were there. Aesthetically the place looks awful, cheap horrible tables and the chairs are very uncomfortable. The roof in the conservatory needs a good clean! The menu was a piece of paper with no prices on it. However given the surroundings I wasn't expecting to be floored by the bill. We had to ask for the wine list, wasn't provided on arrival or when they asked what we wanted to drink. The menu was basic but to be fair all 5 of us managed to select something we wanted. All staters were nice, well presented and tasty. 3 of us enjoyed our main courses, mine however was not good. I had the salmon and just didn't feel it was fresh. My mother also had it though and enjoyed it, she even finished mine off. We opted for dessert. Again was nice, just nothing special. However my mum asked for hers without cream, it arrived with and when she challenged it they simply took the plate back into the kitchen, scraped the cream of and gave it back to her.........The waitress also dropped dirty cutlery on me without an apology which I didn't care for. The bill was excellent, 150 for 5x3 courses and two bottles of wine and other drinks. All in all though it was disappointing. Not what I expected. I wouldn't return.

Had an absolutely beautiful meal here on Friday night. Fab fillet of beef, with amazing homemade Chuncky chips and onion rings. Hospitalty great as always from all the staff. Really enjoyed our time here.

I went first time on October 4th 2014 for my birthday! The meal was delicious and the service was great! Slow service but great! If you are in a rush you need to go to a take away! I went again in December with another couple as our treat to them! Again the foid was lively and we had a vegetarian with us! We had the Christmas menu and pre ordered so was easy! There were many other diners at the time but we were still served within a reasonable amount of time unless you were in a hurry! The whole experience was great and I would reccommend it to others, but with the advice that it takes time! Would definitely go again!

We have been going to this hotel on and off in the past. This visit was just SO disappointing. We had checked on their website if they served High Tea, which they did.It was a Sunday, early evening, no other dinners. We checked with the waitress that High Tea was still available and she confirmed it was.We were shown to our seats in the conservatory , you could smell the newness of the carpets, which was still fresh in the air. All seemed good. We were given the menu and settled on the High Tea as planned, the mains were exactly the same as the Early Evening Menu, just the starters and desserts were offered on this menu. There was not much of a price difference between the two menus.So we both selected Steak for our main, we were asked if we preferred our tea/coffee at the same time as or main or after - we chose after. We ordered 2 J20's - and we were happy to drink and chat while waiting for our meal, it came and was fine. We had to wait a while for our plates to be cleared but eventually they were cleared and our Tea & Coffee were brought and the table was prepared, for what seemed to be a large plate - anticipation was high !!!! The menu stated, Tea or Fresh Ground Coffee, with a Selection of Tea Cake, Scones, Preserves, Clotted Cream & Homemade Fudge - well - was a BIG let down. On a Large plate came, 2 Scones, The Selection of Tea Cake was in fact one small slice of cake with a coffee cream on top with a blueberry on top if that. We also got two cubes of homemade fudge and two tiny rounds of shortbread. No Preserves, Clotted Cream was on the table - they were already in the scones !!! But you had to pick up the scones to see that. The Scones were disappointing to say the least - being refilled some time ago - the filling had dried into the scones and they were dry. I ate half of my scone & left the rest.My husband asked for another cup of coffee, which he had to wait a good while for but as it was hotter than the first, he was happy about that. We spoke about our disappointment to the waitress regarding no Selection of Tea Cakes, she in reply offered us more scones , which we declined. We had spoken to the waitress during the evening and she was very polite and engaging - she could only give out what Chef had presented - but she was the only one doing front of house. There were two men at the bar whilst we were there, the restaurant was not busy.We had arrived at 5.30 and left at 7pm , service was slow, the food was far below the normal standards and we paid £37 for the privilege of eating there (High Teas are £13.95 each) not a situation we will be repeating or advising anyone to do. We eat out a lot within the local area and this has to be one of the most disappointing of High Tea we have ever had. Such a shame, it sounded SO good.
