We popped in for lunch and were welcomed by lovely, friendly staff. The menu was quite restrictive for myself being a vegetarian. In fact the menu was typically old school pub food but it was hot, there was plenty of it and it didn't break the bank.

A busy "local" with attached small campsite. Food is very good value and there were interesting beer options. Food average, their "famous" lasagne not available sadly. Good portion size.

Had lasagna, salad and chips, billed as Sues famous lasagna. Worst I’ve ever tasted in my life! Total slop, hardly any mince to speak of or taste. To cap it all salad tasted horrible due to some sort of dressing on it which I never asked for. Probably worst meal I’ve had. Sorry but true, disappointed to say the least.

Terrible experience I have got my solicitor on to this as we recorded the owner telling us why we had to leave

The food at the pub is second to none fresh local ingredients and excellent value for money .

This place has always been our favourite place to eat, drink and catch up with friends. Yesterday, after the lock down restrictions were lifted we went for a meal and few drinks with friends and were amazed at the professionalism of the distancing measures while still retaining a friendly local feel. Felt totally safe, yet comfortable, to the point of almost normality. Great food as usual too 😊

The worst Christmas lunch ever. Only 2 serving over 50 people. Sat down at 12.45pm starters didn’t arrive until 1.50pm. Sat waiting for main course for over an hour. When it arrived it was very disappointing, 1 small Yorkshire, 1 ball of stuffing, a piece of cauliflower, a few carrots, broccoli, 1 tiny piece of roast parsnip, turkey was dry. No gravy, had to ask 3 times before it arrived by that time lunch was cold and could only manage to eat a few mouthfuls. Forgot to mention 2 roast potatoes which were so hard l couldn’t get my teeth in them, 2 new potatoes. By this time everyone was getting fed up, 1 table got up and left. I had my mum in a wheelchair and there wasn’t anyway l could get her to the toilet without tables and people having to get up and move. I had informed them twice that my mum would be in a wheelchair. By this time we decided to leave, 4pm still no desertto get my mum out a family had to get up move there table and chairs for us to get out. I also witnessed a table complaining about the service and the Landlady was very rude, no apology given. When my husband told them we were not staying and the food and service was very poor, they knocked £40 off a bill of a £180 bill. It wasn’t even worth a fiver what we had. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We are local people and have been to this place on many occasions but will never go in again and l’m sure there were others that felt the same. Thanks to them our family Christmas was ruined. My Christmas lunch at home consisted of a piece of cake and a sausage rolll would never recommend this pub, bad food, service and very rude peoplel did get a message from the landlord after putting a piece on Facebook apologising saying 3 staff had walked out. If they had told people perhaps people would have been understanding. If they treat their staff like they do their customers l’m not surprised they walked out

My husband and myself were staying locally and decided to visit the Red Lion for lunch. We were warmly greeted on arrival and our order taken. We were given the choice of tables and we chose a window seat. We did not have to wait very long for our food, I had a meat lasagne with chips and salad and my husband had sausage, egg and chips. As dessert was included in my husband’s meal choice he had a strawberry sundae and I had the white chocolate and raspberry roulade. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the food was delicious and we also found the staff very friendly. This was the last day of our stay which was a shame that we found the Red Lion on our last day as we would’ve visited more. If we return the the area we will definitely come back here for a meal.

We called in here on the off chance on our way home only to find the pub packed due to Friday night “early doors” special offer. However we were told that if we wanted to have a drink and hang on they would accommodate us as soon as a table became free. We were given a table after about 15 minutes. It was well worth the wait. The food was great, the atmosphere was good and the staff and service were very good indeed. Very good value for money to boot. Couldn’t fault it in any way. Will call in again when in the area.

It was our first visit for many years and had been closed we think inbetween our visits. We had heard that it was now very good and decided to visit. We were quite disappointed on the choice of food, a lot of chicken on the menu, two sorts of curry, both chicken, 3 specials, two of which were chicken. The place was heaving so obviously it is well liked by locals, lots of people seemed to know each other so we presumed that they were all local. The staff were friendly but the food we thought left a lot to be desired. This is obviously our opinion and the fact that they were very busy (it was a Saturday when we visited) shows that others found it acceptable

The best thing about this pub is the car park.On entering and walking towards the bar we noticed a log fire but to be honest it was too far away from the tables to feel any warmth from it and the room heaters dotted about were stone cold. All this before we a group of four sit down to the most awful Christmas lunch. If you like processed turkey the kind bought sliced in packets from a supermarket this will be ideal for you and it will be folded in a nice little pile on the side of your plate. The waitress was huffing and puffing and pointedly remarking on the "hot plates" in fact my plate was stone cold, as were the carrots, peas and frozen beans and the one and only tiny new potatoe. There was a party of sorts for an elderly group of customers and all other tables were fully booked and the place was absolutely heaving.Adding to this the waitress tells us she was called away from preparing our desserts to attend another job.Well that made us feel very welcome indeed and also not forgetting it was nearly two hours from start to finish for a meal in this extremely cold, unfriendly and unwelcoming meal for four in this no atmosphere village pub.

Then from 6pm. Closed on Monday. I got caught out once. They are opening a 5 berth caravan site in the rear of the pub £10 a night. They have just got approval. They sell wonderful eggs. Cheap, no pun intended. Once bought goose eggs, they were huge. I think they will have to open longer when the caravans come. I highly recommend this pub. It's a true local. I thought afternoon tea here would be something special to celebrate a birthday but unfortunately it wasn't. The table we were allocated was right next to the counter where people stood drinking, chatting and paying (I believe they might have been staff from the business centre). When I commented on this to a member of staff she said they would soon be gone, but then more came and stood there for some considerable time. The table was undecorated and the teapot and cups plain. One of the teaspoons was dirty and had to be replaced. There was nothing special about it whatsoever. It was just like being in a cafe which you go in for just a coffee. Not afternoon tea special at all. It was more expensive than many in the Norwich area so I thought the experience would be reflected in the price. But it clearly wasn't. The food was nice, nothing special, only 2 different filling in the sandwiches. The scones were good, the cakes ok, but again nothing special. The staff were busy but quite friendly. I would not recommend The Orangery for an afternoon tea experience. I came away feeling very let down and disappointed from what I thought was going to be an enjoyable afternoon.
