Three elderly gents arrived on Saturday at 1:40pm looking for a pint and a meal during the lunch break at a cricket match at Amersham CC. Only after ordering our drinks were we informed by the barman that food could not be served as they stopped serving at 2:00pm. Despite the pub being virtually empty, apparently food orders would take about an hour so he was not going to take any new orders despite the fact that technically they were still serving for another 20 minutes. We were very disappointed but we sat in an empty bar to drink our now irrelevant pints. I took a seat that gave me a view through the bar to where I could hear washing up being done in the kitchen at the rear. During the 15 minutes that we wasted in this pub, I am fairly sure that no food emerged from the kitchen for anyone in the garden at the rear. Just as we were about to leave, a gent (presumably a local) ordered a pint and one other drink together with a food order. Do not waste your time with a pub that simply can't be bothered to serve its customers. Judging by the recent comments on here about the poor quality food and its inflated prices, our party didn't miss anything by instead buying prepacked sandwiches from the local Tesco instead! A pub that can't be bothered to serve its guests is not fit for purpose. Now I understand why the bar was empty. AVOID

Take my advice, please do not stay at this greyhound inn till they have got pest control and to sort out the rat problem in the roof my two nights day was appalling. The room is comfortable enough but as I say they have rats in the roof which could keep you awake most of the night, hopefully they will see this. I have sent other reviews for Booking.com, but I have had no feedback. I would like some compensation for my night sleep which I didn’t get but again no response.

Quite possibly the worst sandwiches we have ever had! No care taken what so ever to make them. Ridiculous amount of butter and slabs of cheap ham. Ham salad was just salad cream! Awful

Not been here for a couple of years, so much has changed. Sunday dinner was something special, topped with a roaring fire & a friendly atmosphere. A welcome haven on a wet day, definitely will be back.

The calamari and chicken Caesar salad are both amazing with a side of zucchini fries. The atmosphere and service is brilliant aswell. I would highly highly recommend
