The price should have been £32.90 it was £34.90 when it arrived the driver showed me a receipt it wasn't his fault or what I was told over the phone the food was poor the chicken was like rubber and the chicken fried rice was well over cooked like risotto the salt pepper chips were dark and definitely warm ups they need to clean there fryer oil well over priced compared to other takeaways in the area that produce better food.

First time I ordered from here and found a short black hair in my lemon chicken, safe to say I won’t be ordering from here again.

Best take away in Wilmslow. Authentic Chinese cuisine in a cash only, collect only very unpretentious location

We order from this takeaway every Friday without fail, on occasions the food has arrived a little late but tonight we ordered for the family (not the cheapest by the way) We placed order at 7.04pm and the meal arrived at 9.10 We were initially told 40 minutes!! However we were trying to contact them from 8.20pm only couldn’t get through as they clearly had the phone off the hook!! We spend just under £50 a week with them on Friday evenings and we’ll never use this place again. Lost our custom for sure. Extremely rude people. Not even an apology when our food eventually arrived.

I’ve ordered from here twice now.I do think it is compatibly pricier but so worth it.The standard of food is top quality.It is freshly made and comes piping hot.As they say,you pay for what you get.I would recommend this place to everyone.

Terrible food for high price. Ordered ribs and they came like someone had ordered them an hour before me. Dry and cold. Waited over an hour also. Order at your peril.

We have been regulars at this takeaway for years. Never ever again. Called to place an order and was told it would be 25 minutes and told it would be £12.90. They only take cash..... funny that isn't it in this day and age!! Hmmmmmm!! Went to pick up food and told it was supposed to be 45 minutes. Only ordered a couple of dishes, woman owner I think said it was 45 mins and it would be £15 something to which I questioned? Why was I told £12 something on the phone?? Ended up with her shouting at us telling us we had previously ordered on line and never paid??? Is this woman deluded, we have NEVER ordered a takeaway on line. I told her she needed to be very careful with what she says, totally accusatory. Asked for money back and told her to forget her food. Maybe they need someone older than about 12 on the main phoneline on a Saturday night who got it all wrong. Disgusting vile woman who runs it. Hope the place gets investigated, something very fishy that they are the only Chinese in Wilmslow who only take cash!!!!!!!!! Food isn't that great either. Will stick to No3 from now on. Great friendly staff and much better food.

This is our take away of choice in this tucked away part of the town. Portion sizes always on the generous size, and the blackbean sauce is wonderful.

Always good food. Vegetables in most dishes, curry is nice, order a less than you think as very filling.

We ordered dinner from here to take away and weren't very impressed. The food was very average. Not awful but not particularly nice either. The salt and pepper chips weren't very edible because of how dry they were. Aromatic Duck and Prawn toast were average. The Chicken and Mushroom Black bean curry wasn't bad. Probably wouldn't order from here again, there are better Chinese places in the area.

We ordered last night ( New Years Eve) Food did arrive quickly but was not up to their normal standard. We spent £100 for 5 of us which is fine but i do expect quality for this amount of money. Safe to say that all their menus are now in our bin. I won't be ordering from them again. I'm a bit sad as this was my last takeaway before my healthy eating kicks in so i feel cheated and out of pocket. Bit sad maybe i know but i expected more.

Excellent service! We booked online & paid by c/card. The web page gives you the earliest collection time of 50mins. However within 15mins I received a phone call to ask when I wished to collect my order. Ten minutes later I had collected my order - excellent service. And the main review - the food was hot, a lot & tasty! Great value for money. Highly recommended.

I tried the Red Lantern for the first time, after always going to another local Chinese takeaway which I thought would be hard to beat. I’ve only tried two dishes and two soups, and I was pleasantly surprised to find another place which can match if not better. We had wonton me soup and hot and sour soup excellent, and a Singapore Vermecelli and chicken curry, and they also deliver, which is a bonus for the dark winters nights ahead.

Salt and pepper chicken wings were like they had been dipped in a bag of salt, chicken chow mein rubbery and sweet chilli sauce spilt all over. Really expensive compared to other local takeaways. Will not be using again...Hurry up back No1 Chef!

We come here often as it is reasonably priced and nice. The portions are not too greasy and have lots of variety of vegetables in them which makes a change with nice spices. Always good service. Thanks.

Twice in recent weeks, we phoned up and ordered a takeaway banquet. Each time we chose for 4 people, so we had two different banquets for 2, giving us a more than adequate selection for the family to share! Each time, there was more than enough food and in fact we couldn't eat it all. I thought the price was reasonable, the selection good, the food tasty and it was well packaged in stronger than average containers for us to drive away. As Chinese takeaways are concerned, we all feel that this is well above average, and we'd have no hesitation in going back. The only problem is the parking - which can be a bit limited at peak times due to it being in a residential area. This is a popular place with limited on street parking.

The woman barred me, saying that it was because I left a bad review on TA. In fact, I left an excellent review, the woman thought that a bad review was left by me, so she insulted and barred me.

We ordered a £100+ worth of food and left the choice of food to them for an After Play party in a local theatre and they did us proud. Delivered exactly when we asked for it... nice selection of dishes, including some for the vegetarians... and even a bag of chips, for an actress who has limited food likes. Excellent in every way... Many thanks. We'll be back.

We had starters, Singapore rice noodles and chilly and garlic battered king prawns and was really nice. Reasonably priced at about £17. We will use them again

Why pumped chicken, was more expensive? Service was prompt and food was hit plenty of it , but will not return as quality of meat was poor, pumped and slimy.

Our regular 'go to' for Chinese takeaway. The food is always tasty, and generally ready and waiting for us before the time quoted online for collection.

Always use yangs but they are shut on a Monday so have this another go. Why did we bother! Crispy duck was nothing but crispy just fat and oily, the plum sauce was thick and cold and the sweet and sour chicken was edible. Will not be returning. The delivery man was nice and pleasant though .

Food from this place is delicious every time. I only eat fish and seafood and it`s always spot on. Definitely the best takeaway in Wilmslow area.

Had our second Chinese from here as our first one was delicious.Easy to order online and pay and even though delivery time was between 7-7.30 it came earlier. The delivery man was a really nice guy. Can't fault it food great service great and good value for money.Def be getting our take always from here from now on.

Ignore the owner of the Yang who wrote a review last year. Just had a meal tonight and it was top draw. Crispy duck and fillet steak dish were the best.

We ordered a couple of different dishes and all of them were tasty and good. The beef (Sataay) was tender and the chicken (Kung Po) juicy. The delivery was on time and friendly.

Greasy disgusting over priced food will never recommend or return. If you want a good Chinese in the area then yangs are the one to choose. The sooner this place closes the better

A little more expensive than the local competition - if ordering a takeaway for four, add £7.00 - 9.00 to the whole bill. However, the food is discernibly better and therefore value for money.

We always do "collections" or order at the premises & wait & it's always ready very quickly. Service is always friendly & the food is consistently delicious and fresh.

Ordered on line and was able to pay by credit card. Delivery was very quick. Food is more of the 'Chinese chippy' standard but never having had salt and pepper chips before, they were delicious!

Have had a take away meal from the Red Lantern on numerous occasions and always impresses. We have it delivered to the nearby Premier Inn. It is always very tasty and delivered piping hot in an insulated bag, lovely chicken curry.

Have tried this place a few times over the last couple of years, but disappointed ever time. The food is fairly bland and not cooked too well. The aromatic duck is dry, the prawn on toast is greasy, the sauces are rank...they are friendly and it is cheap, that's about the best i can say

Tried the Red Lantern for the first time this evening. Ordered and paid for online. Delivery was very fast and delivery man very friendly. We had Cantonese spring rolls, chicken foo yung, chicken curry, soft noodles and salt & pepper chips. We were a bit nervous of trying somewhere new for the first time but so glad we did as the food was amazing! Hot, tasty and big portions! Will be now using the red lantern every time we have a Chinese. Lovely food.

The delivery driver is rude and aggressive he knocked off our light on our driveway and he grabbed my husband by the collar on his own property with his friends in the car. No apology given what so ever in fact we were told he wasn't even on the books???? We ordered at least once a week up until now never ever again!! Poor customer service I've ever come across. after quite a traumatic event and why did his friends in the car get out of the car on our driveway bullying tactics I think! Disgusting inappropriate behaviour.

We tried Red Lantern on recommendation and we're glad we did, we don't buy take aways from anywhere else now. We order home delivery service and the food is always piping hot when it arrives, the delivery person very friendly and prompt.

Five star restaurant quality food and service from a takeaway??? Is that possible??? From the red lantern it most certainly is. This is the best. The food is fresh, tasty and piping hot when delivered, on time, all the time. We have never had a bad meal or false promises of delivery times. The staff are brilliant. Meal portions are very generous and the price is very fair to the quality of food. Keep up the good work guys.

We use this Chinese once a week...it does deliveries as well...consistently good...prompt service. We have tried most places in Wilmslow and Handforth and this is by far the best...

We order from the Red Lantern normally once a week and have done for some time. The food is always lovely - fresh tasting, nice varied flavours and good portions. Our kids love it too - especially the free prawn crackers! Delivery is normally pretty speedy and often less than predicted. The only downside has been the delivery man once kept our change assuming we were giving a tip. Would definitely recommend The Red Lantern to others though (and we have tried a few in our time!)

I have only recently been introduced (about 6 months ago) to Red Lantern and have to say it is wonderful and since then ordered on numerous occasions. The food is fresh and extremely tasteful. It has always been delivered within the time specified and tonight when a mistake was made with the order, a quick phone call to the polite and helpful staff, and it was rectified within minutes. The only thing that I am disappointed about is that I was not aware of this little gem in Wilmslow before. Best takeaway by far in Wilmslow and surrounding areas. I could recommend so many dishes but would love to highlight the steak rolls in pepper sauce..bloody gorgeous !!

Im sad to write this review as this has been our favourite Chinese takeaway for the last 3 years. However ordered our take away tonight for our Saturday night treat and it took 2 hours to arrive. To be fair when ordering at 7.30 we were told they were busy and it would be 45 minutes. But when your 7 year old child is looking out of the window for her dinner to arrive at 9pm its not on. When it did finally arrive at 9.30 there was no apology,, no discount and no completely items. Personal I think this is really bad as we order form the red lantern at least 2 to 3 time a month and the cost of tonights meal was just under 40 pounds. The meal was as per usual very nice unfortunately it will be our last supper at the red lantern as 2 hrs is just to long to wait for your Saturday dinner when you have small children!

Just had the best Chinese delivered to our hotel room at the premier inn. This Chinese takeaway beats our local regular one by far. Delivered hot and fresh. Would travel here again just to have the Chinese from here.

I don't know what the last review is on about as its a Chinese takeaway! We normally get ours delivered and its easily the best in Wilmslow and its reasonably priced.

We visit this Chinese takeaway regularly. The set menus are fantastic value, with portions good sizes. The spring rolls are the best I have ever tasted! Never used to like them but now I can't resist! I've tried a few Chinese takeaways since moving to the area a year ago but this is by far the best! Consistently good!

I live less than 5 minutes walk from this take away, yet have not eaten there since it was taken over an renamed over 12 months ago. The previous owners did not make it worth revisiting and I hadn't noticed it had changed hands and name. Following a recommendation from a friend, we tried it and can now say it is easily the best Chinese Take Away in the area and it has strong competition in Wilmslow so that is a big compliment.Portions are some of the biggest I have seen, all ingredients are fresh and there is always a good mix of vegetables. I can personally vouch for the steak in black bean sauce and crispy fried chicken in chilli and Cantonese sauce, both were amazingly tasty. Staples starter like the crispy duck, spring rolls and prawn toast have even stood out on our 2 visits so far.
