Red Dog Saloon in Southampton

This was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Can’t remember what it was called but the one with peppercorn sauce. Wings were great also. Our server Ellie helped us work the menu out and was really helpful and friendly. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but they definitely offer something unique and I would go back.

Wow!! This place is amazing. The food is 100%, the service is 100% and the atmosphere was great at 3pm. I am sure the atmosphere would be even better as the evening would go on. The food was absolutely amazing and so much of it and if you don't manage to eat it all you can take it home in a doggy bag!!

Estaba caminando por la calle y tropecé con todas mis compras derramadas. Entonces este dulce jovencito de unos 1,80 m2 creo que se llamaba Anthony o algo así vino y me ayudó a levantarme incluso me dio 20 libras para reemplazar mis artículos rotos❣️ Me dijo que iba de camino al trabajo aquí así que solo tuve que hacer una visita en el cumpleaños 16 de mis hijas🥳 Lamentablemente la experiencia estuvo lejos de ser agradable. Pedimos costillas y una hamburguesa con queso, cuando llegó la comida las costillas estaban quemadas! Y mi hamburguesa era francamente asquerosa🤮 Nuestra comida tenía pelo y mi IceTea sabía a orina! El servicio fue horrible nunca me sentí más indeseable mi hija lloró💔

Awful service... We actually walked out it was that bad. Waited over 15-20 to not even have had our drinks order taken. In the time we were there customers were complaining and the couple next to us returned their food.

Food was very nice and staff were very pleasant but price on drinks was a bit overpriced

Qué gran lugar cerca de un centro comercial y con vistas a algunas fuentes de agua n pared. Nos detuvimos a disfrutar de un par de copas. Tuvimos una cena de fresa de menta Margarita y estrella porno y los dos somos geniales. El camarero y el gerente eran muy amables. Can’t order most main items like brisket online any more, just burgers, so will no longer order takeout from here.

I went in with my partner to celebrate myself getting a new job after a long time of unemployment. Wanting to enjoy a night out and a great experience with my partner with some good food and drink. We went on a Saturday, a day you would assume would have more than enough staff and prep for any amount of people coming through When we entered we were taken to our table and asked for drinks, we ordered an old fashioned with extra bitters. She went off and quickly another waitress came over to ask for our drinks and food, not a problem so far but not very well organised. Our drinks came and they had practically shown a picture of bitters to the drinks with how much it just tasted of pure watered down whiskey. We then had a number of waitresses come through and mistake our table for others. When our food finally came (which came before the starters we ordered) they were anaemic if anything. The chicken burger my partner had tasted of nothing, despite asking for extra spice, and only tasted barely of the blue cheese sauce. The worst was my own food, I ordered the chicken and ribs combo and expected a decent plate as I’m used to in red dog, usually you get great portion sizes making it worth a visit. I got 2 thin ribs and 2 small pieces of chicken with a slice of toast. Not good enough for £20, if I ordered a burger for the same amount I’d have gotten more than that, or maybe not if this was a sign of the rest of the state of things. My partner couldn’t finish and we asked for our starter to be struck off from the bill as we still didn’t get them until after we had finished our mains. I remember when I first went to red dog saloon. I was so excited to finally get a real bbq restaurant in Southampton, the food was amazing and well made and it did justice to American food, I had birthdays there and many celebrations. Now it just seems to have become lackluster with barely any service and relying on looking good from the outside just to disappoint you when you actually eat there.

The food was amazing, unfortunately though a big section of the menu was unavailable when we went in and service was a little slow but still enjoyed my lunch and loved the chance of getting lunch for free by rolling a six.

I don’t normally write lots of review however I felt I needed to as I said on the night someone you are adding way too much salt to the food, to the point the food it is inedible. I had to leave the food even through I was hungry. I spoke to the staff on the night. Reduce the amount of salt you are adding to the food!!!

I know this won’t be very helpful but honestly “meh” is how I’d explain it, completely underwhelmed by it and really over priced. The service was okay but I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend.

Service was really poor - they didn't seem bothered at all with being friendly and never even cleared our plates. A lot of the food was lukewarm and I think £21 for a single veggie burger and fries is insanely overpriced!

I was recommended this place by a friend… I would start of by saying the staff was great the young lady that served us was bubbly and in good spirits. The overall feel is that it needs a good clean tables was sticky, chips on the seat when we was seated and the mirrors was dirty. We was offered water for the table and it come out wam 🤨. We both ordered their Sunday rib platter Which only one was available, so I settled for the rib and brisket combo. The brisket come out cold and the ribs were next to nothing more than bone… I really want to comment about this as it’s was £26 and the size was appalling but The girl that was serving us was also dealing with the table opposition us with a complaint regarding the chicken wings. I was very disappointed with our overall experience especially seeing the photos and previous reviews. We had a table booked, which was no problem. But this place needs some love put back in! I was so excited but also so disappointed by the end of my visit. Will not be going back. If I was American, I would be disappointed! I feel the kitchen have so much to take responsibility for this bad experience!

Fuimos anoche un grupo de nosotros para el cumpleaños de mis maridos. Fue una noche encantadora y la comida era deliciosa. Los nietos disfrutaron de sus comidas también, toda la comida estaba caliente y se veía fabuloso. El personal sacó su pastel y cantó Feliz Cumpleaños, que fue tan encantador. El servidor que teníamos era increíble, él era tan acogedor y nos cuidó toda la noche. Era una verdadera joya y Red Dog debería estar súper orgulloso de tener un miembro del personal tan encantador. Volveremos pronto.

Food was excellent although the waitress (when asked) gave my wife a Diet Coke rather than a regular Coke and my wife is allergic to aspartame. Other than food is lovely and waiting staff are attentive.

Service was slow, food came out cold and had to be sent back. No compensation offered at the end when the bill came.

Visited on a Saturday early evening so restaurant was almost empty. To start with our waitress served us quickly but one our orders were in we did not have such great service .. when we wanted somthing we had to look around for some time to find someone who worked there. We ordered a chicken wing starter .. these were raw inside so had to look for a waiter to send them back . The burgers were ok but the fries did not seem fresh.. Very disappointed with our experience .

We ordered brisket and fries…. All our food came out freezing and the brisket was so chewy when I mentioned it to the waiter he didn’t seem very bothered by it and I almost had to convince him to do something. I am so disappointed as we travelled all the way from Surrey to go to this restaurant, we were so excited and it really let me down.

¿Por dónde empiezo! Reservamos una mesa para 5 a las 4 en punto pensando que sería un momento ideal después de la prisa del almuerzo y antes de que comenzara la cena. Mi marido y yo queríamos tratar a nuestros 3 hijos adultos como les encanta su comida. Ambos somos vegetarianos así que solo teníamos una opción de todos modos. Nos mostraron a nuestra mesa rápidamente y nos dieron algunos menús de aspecto desagradable. Nuestra orden fue tomada en 10 minutos y luego todo se fue cuesta abajo. Esperábamos 40 minutos para nuestras bebidas, que tuvimos que perseguir con dos miembros separados del personal, parecía haber solo un miembro del personal del bar en el turno y había una enorme pila de vasos sucios antiestéticos en un extremo del bar. Mis hijos son chicos grandes con grandes apetitos así que pidieron 2 platos dobles entre ellos 3. Muy agobiante cuando llegaron y no vale la pena la etiqueta de precio de £ 139. Realmente creo que podrían haber comido un plato doble cada uno. Brisket era muy negro y masticable, alrededor de una cucharada de paletilla de cerdo y algunas alitas de pollo de aspecto patético en cada plato. Las hamburguesas a base de plantas (£ 20 por una empanada doble sin patatas fritas! ) estaban muy sobresaladas y casi no eran comestibles con el lado de las patatas fritas siendo muy pequeñas y frías. Los aros de cebolla eran insípidos y en su mayoría sobreprecio en £ 7. 50 por 6 piezas. Todo fue sólo meh. El personal parece muy poco interesado sin bromas ni personalidad. Trabajé en el comercio de restaurantes durante 20 años, así que esperaba un poco más por los precios cobrados, 233 libras esterlinas por 5 comidas, 6 bebidas alcohólicas y un té helado. Se añadió un cargo de servicio del 10% de £ 23, pero para aproximadamente 6 visitas a la mesa con un servicio muy poco impresionante no dejé el importe total. No soy un quejoso o fuera de ninguna compensación, pero solo quiero advertir a la gente lo que esperar, que está muy por debajo de la comida y el servicio promedio para los precios desorbitados cobrados, podríamos haber ido a una casa de carnes de buena reputación por el mismo costo (que recomiendo que lo haga).

Absolutely banging! That’s all I’ve got to say. Went in a bit stuffed from a cheeky Nando’s lunch, but still ordered a burger... could’ve easily eaten five more. Top-notch grub!

We ordered a platter for 3 at £105, when it arrived we were amazed at how small it was. Two sausages, a small portion of pulled pork, some very fatty ribs. We all left hungry. This was on top of waiting 40mins for first drinks as the waiter forgot our order. The ice tea was disappointing, all together very disappointing. Sides for three people are terrible quality and size, see photos how it came out.

Absolutely blew me away, buffalo Chicken wings were INSANE! Beef ribs also insane. Only negative is why are the bbq sauces in tiny little thimbles and they need some standard bbq sauce for less adventurous people. Honestly every table should just have a big thing of bbq on every table rather so I can slap it on my ribs. Have booked again for March though but might bring my own sauce lol

Terrible, made to feel most unwelcome, with my 15 year old and my 7 year old boys. Told to sit at a table we didn't want, when the resteraunt was less than 30% full. Asked the waiter to move tables, to which he said it was dirty. I asked if he would mind cleaning it so we could sit there. He ignored the request. We moved across to the more suitable, unreserved table, then he refused to serve us, obviously furious we had the audacity to want to come in the restaeraunt and spend £80 and so was going to be as awkward as possible. The atmosphere in the place is awful, as if the staff hate working there. We asked to pay for our drinks and leave after 40 minutes. Appauling customer service. Staff in need of a lot of training.

I’m disappointed in your services. The platter menu is broad daylight robbery, why would you say pay for 2 people for the platter and charge it x2 ? Not recommended Food took long

Love. This. Place. I've sent so many people to Red Dog. The 45 minute drive is so worth it. At one stage I had all the burgers on the menu and the chicken dishes. Never been disappointed with a meal here. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time.

Horrible overpriced, salty fatty food - yuk! And no dessert menu except for a chocolate Brownie. Maybe they are about to go bust as I've never been to any American style restaurant they don't do desserts?

Waitress was prompt and immediate and that’s where the satisfaction ended. Then the problems started. Opted for 2 x Oregon platters. Alas no brisket apparently and considering a £35 per head choice that is wrong.. Then a cider and a Stella unfiltered. Sorry. Not available. Made several selections which weren’t available so walked out thoroughly appalled. Why have a menu if it’s not available. Absolute rubbish for the price! May as well have cooked at home!!

Very disappointed with my chicken wings they are raw send them back and they came back raw!! main course was okay my partner‘s main course was good we ordered coffees which took 15 minutes and had to ask twice where our coffee was!! My server was very nice, but the pot boy was atrocious,

If you're hungry and want some proper American bbq food .. this place can not be beaten . The platters are out of this world !

Had the long horn beef rib which was came quickly. It went downhill after a promising start. No steak knife and had to wait ages to flag waiting staff down. The rib itself was chewy and extremely sinewy so that half of it was inedible. Left disappointed after the initial excitement of finding a Texan rib joint. Compulsory service charge despite slow service and understaffing. Avoid.

The stars goes only towards the servers. They were lovely and helpful. Now the food. It was mediocre at best. Think of the weirdest coleslaw you ever eat and it was still better the one we had as for example. And it's just the coleslaw. The beef was frozen the chicken was drenched in oil. I asked for peach iced tea but it was undrinkable sweet but the waiter was happy to change it for me - hence the two stars instead of one. The music was way too loud. Then on the bill the 10% forced "tip". Pls pay your waiters properly without forcing me to tip. Their home beer was nice.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food Beef brisket was frozen as was the pulled pork and burger patty, the beans literally tasted like chilli powder and so dry. Peach tea was full of sweeteners and undrinkable. Only good thinks where there home beer and the chicken tenders

Booked here for my wife’s and a friends 30th, however had to wait 45minutes for the table, despite the booking; however they made good on their mistake and saved the night. The food was excellent and once seated the service was great.

Had the Buffalo Bill and fries, and everything was absolutely amazing! The flavors were spot on, and the meal was cooked to perfection. The service was great too, making the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

We had been dreaming of a plate full of succulent, smokey, BBQ ribs for months when we realised the menu at Red Dog Saloon seemed to be what we were looking for. One of the guests had their birthday so I ticked that option when making the reservation. The menu was extensive and we initially struggled to make a decision, everything sounded delicious, albeit reasonably pricey. We went for the beef rib and the chicken and rib combo. Prior to that we ordered drinks, a margarita and Corona Zero. After a few mins another member of staff informed us they were out of Corona and had no alternatives but suggested a mocktail - fair enough. A minute later our original order taker told us Corona was out of stock and asked if we wanted something else... Our drinks arrived and, amazingly, included the Corona. Plus the mocktail which was only ordered as they were out of Corona, as well as the margarita. So not a great start. Unfortunately it got worse when the food arrived. Both pork and beef ribs were the dryest, saltiest things I've ever eaten, the complete opposite of what we had expected. We had just started when our waiter asked how things were and we muttered that it was okay - in retrospect we should have said something. The chicken was actually very succulent with a crunchy coating, I enjoyed the slaw and the side of fries but the ribs were terrible. Do not order them! Whilst battling through the ribs I needed another drink - maybe that's why it's so dry and salty! Unfortunately they were left sat on the side for a while and only arrived once I'd given up on the ribs. It was cold and wet though so I guess that's positive. When clearing the plates we decided to mention how bad the ribs were. The manager came over and apologised and offered a discount on the bill - to be clear that was never the intention but it was graciously accepted. The bill arrived with the discount but with a 10% discretionary service charge included. I like to tip for good service but I wouldn't have done so because it wasn't deserving of it. Regardless, I paid but I do not agree with this method of automaticly applying the charge. Finally, there was no mention of the birthday by any of the staff whilst others around us had happy birthday sung to them. This seemed to sum up the experience. Great anticipation that fell completely flat.

Staff were great and that’s where the positives end. We had booked a table but that wasn’t ready and people that hadn’t booked tables were turning up and getting seated before us. (Same amount of people as we were booked for) We were asked to wait at the bar and ordered drinks while we waited. At the bar we were robbed. The drinks prices are outrageous!!!! We waited almost an hour for our meals to come out and when they did they was very disappointing. For the prices they charge you’d expect more food. If you wanted fries you had to add that on which at £5.50 for a small pot was daylight robbery. The brisket was just 2 fatty slices, the onion rings were stone cold and the Texan toast was a soggy bit of bread. The chicken was ok the ribs were not ribs and just a line of charred fat. There were Just Eat drivers etc queuing at the door to pick up orders for delivery. Maybe if this place wasn’t so greedy and more interested in providing decent quality and quantities of food to its dining in customers it would be better. The manager gave us a discount off of our bill and admitted we weren’t the first to make the same complaints. To be clear- we love eating out and do not have a problem paying when the quality and quantity is good. This place however is charging over inflated prices for under par food.

1.) the menu doesn’t give you any information about what you’re ordering, “chicken.” okay what kind of chicken? On the bone or not? How is it cooked? What’s it come with? 2.) I ordered the chicken and waffles. Had a mountain of food come out on a small starter plate, there was no room for cutting or eating, which leads to my next point. Because of the lack of room the whipped butter was placed onto the waffle causing it to melt. After 10 minutes my waffle was absolutely soaked in sugary honey and melted butter, it was a waffle batter and butter soup. It was disgusting to be quite honest. And the chicken came on the bone (which wasn’t specified) so hacking into this massive chunk of chicken to get some meat on my tiny plate was causing waffle butter soup to spill all over the place, I had to cut my chicken separately on a napkin. I couldn’t eat it in the end the thought of it now still makes me feel quite unwell. Over all the meal was quite gross and really wasn’t worth the amount they charged for it. I would suggest a bigger plate, butter and honey ON THE SIDE. And chicken fillets off the bone. 3.) half of my boyfriend’s meal arrived missing, he simply received a chunk of pork on its own on a plate. He waited patiently to see if any of the sides came that were supposed to accompany it would arrive later and they didn’t, he had to ask for them. Who sends out a sad bit of meat on a plate and call it a meal? He also wasn’t a fan of the “bbq sauce” he claims it didn’t taste of bbq more of a weird lumpy ketchup. 4.) the staffs attitude sucked. They clearly did not want to be there. No smiles, no welcoming no enthusiasm just a “I’d rather be anywhere else” expression. When I asked our first waiter what sauces they had he just shrugged and said “buffalo”… I kinda meant can you give me a list so I can choose one but okay? The sauce I did choose never came. Thankfully towards the end they had swapped shifts and the woman who served us our bill was very nice and understanding when we told her we did not want to pay the tip they added on for us. And she sorted me a free birthday shot. For a birthday dinner it was extremely disappointing and we really didn’t want to pay the £80 bill, it most definitely wasn’t worth that much. 5.) the toilets were grim

You go for the messy American style food, not the fine dining experience. The burgers are very good, plenty to choose from and often quite large given all the extras they cram in. The dirty fries are ok, the mac and cheese is below average. You may see on the menu there is a hot wings challenge, it’s quite famous given you have to sign a health and safety waiver prior to attempting it - this is for good reason. My tip is ask them for a pot of the hot sauce used on the wings, so you can dip a chip in it before deciding to do the challenge, you’ll know from that test alone if your able to handle it. Everything is else is as you would expect it to be, fried food from the states. The milkshakes are pretty special too.

Had a waiter named Maximo he was a very happy and surved us with extant survive. We had a New York and came very quickly and was worth paying for it! The meat was so tender. Would recommend to people who love BBQ! And for a good price!

Got to give this place 5 stars in all aspects, always greeted nicely at the door, staff are very attentive and helpful when it comes to serving and the food is AMAZING!! We came in the other day and got the Kentucky platter. I chose the Cronos burger whilst my partner got the punisher burger. Everything was so flavourful, the meats were so tender and the portion size was great…so good we could hardly finish it all!! Would highly recommend for anyone living/visiting around the area, you will not be disappointed!!

We visit Southampton last week, and decided to have a dinner at Red Dog Saloon. Wow! Such an amazing place for family, very nice and polite team and the best food! Ruben Berger and New a York Platter I cannot even described how delicious that was. Definitely we will be back to this restaurant . highly recommend!

Good food, deceitfully overpriced. Visited with a friend of mine for lunch, I had the Rodeo burger for £14.50 and thought for the price that it must come with some fries on the side, in the photo its nearest me and my friend had the Devastator burger for £24.50. I understand that the menu doesn't specify that a side is supplied as standard but I think that is a given or if not it is usually specified that fries are an extra few pounds as part of a meal. £5.50 for fries on their own to supplement your meal is very expensive. Don't get me wrong, the food is very nice, hence the good score for the food, but given the price I would either expect it to be a tad cheaper for just the burger and to pick my own side at extra cost or to pay a little more and to be served fries as well. Unfortunately, what I can't excuse is the 10% service charge that was applied to our bill, I can't see this advertised in the menu either online or on the in store menu. Service charges are intended for large parties where the waiter is generally putting more effort into the table, anything else is just inflating your prices for the sake of it. Before anyone adds that it is discretionary, many would consider it impolite to ask for a charge like this to be removed, it could be seen as insulting the waiter bearing in mind its purpose is to cover the extra work they've allegedly put in. Adding a 10% charge to a table of 2 is just deceitfully increasing the price of every menu item by 10% when it was frankly overpriced in the first place.

My husband and I went to Red Dog Saloon on Tuesday for my husband’s birthday. The waiter was attentive and there is a lunchtime deal where you can have your meal free if you roll 6 on a dice which we did! Amazing food and a perfect birthday celebration.

Don’t order takeaway! £71 for a Kentucky platter that was extremely underwhelming and took over an hour to arrive. Appreciate that delivery is totally different than eating in the restaurant but a cold chewy rib, a cold and pathetic sausage, cold wings and cold gloopy gravy and mash which had all been crushed/leaked in the bag. Such a shame. The only reason this wasn’t a 1* was because the burgers were delicious. We love Red Dog, but this was disappointing considering the price.

Me and my partner came in here last night, and we went in and got seated. Then we read the menu and as me and my partner and I can't eat spicy food due to health problems and then a lovely waiter served us there name was petteri and they were lovely but the person who put us on the table his name was jack he was really really rude and when we asked for the bill he went ahead and said in a very passive aggressive manner and said oh pay when you're ready in a rude manner then he charged us 10% discretionary charge and did a service charge which is unprofessional and just straight up unfair and who charges £10:45 for two cokes which were also flat we had high hopes for this but then we were disappointed in everything

Was really disappointed with the service. Both me and my other half ordered a burger which arrived on its own…with no side of fries or salad. At £18 for each burger I would expect fries or something with it! I was floored at the price when i realised it was just for a burger and no mention of this from the staff. They should be advising that no fries are included and this is an opportunity for add-on sales! Although an okay burger, was’t worth £18.

Southampton - Philly rib eye burger was Best burger had in a long time and the Brisket was delicious and just melted in mouth. Staff were very helpful (Petteri was our waiter) as we have gluten allergies.. Definitely recommend!!

Probably the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. This place never was cheap and it’s okay because you can see the quality. However recently it has become way too expensive and you get less and less for your money. No burger should cost that much not even mentioning the sides. 10£ for 3 mozzarella sticks 7-8£ for a single small hot link sausage is out of order. The lunch meal deal made it affordable but they kept changing it and you got worse deal every time. They used to give you a small basket of fries. Now they give you almost nothing. I’m not even sure the meal deal is available anymore. Last time we went there they had a promotion advertised called “roll the dice” so if you roll 6 you get your food for free. Obviously it was advertised without any indication of a time phrase for this promotion but it wasn’t available when we wanted to play. Don’t advertise something that’s unavailable. We love the food there but we stopped going there because it’s just not worth it.

As a party of 10 we recently went to Red Dog Saloon Southampton for a friends birthday after recommendations from others. I have to say I was very disappointed overall in our experience. *Drinks* - We ordered our drinks and my wife was told there was no Coke other than diet, she settled on a Fanta instead but it’s not her favourite. About half a hour later the table behind us were served a can of normal Coke… where did this magically appear from? I may also add that £2.50 for a can of Fanta is frankly a rip off. On the plus side the Red Dog beer was really tasty and would have again. *Starters* - We shared a mozzarella stick starter. You get 3 in a portion and they did not disappoint. Served on a tomato sauce they were possibly the best I’ve ever had. *Mains* - We shared the SS New York platter. A little pricey at £69 as it’s a minimum of 2 person but it was very nice. We did have to ask for clean plates as they came out dirty but the replacements were fine. The burgers were juicy, brisket was cooked so it just fell apart and the chips & onion rings (£5.50 and £7.50 a piece extra) were also spot on! The meal was very pricy for what we got however it was very nice. *Deserts* - We did not partake in ordering deserts or even look at the menu therefore I can’t comment on this. *Positives* - The food WE had was very nice. Red Dog beer is worth a go. Decor in the restaurant suits the venue nicely. Easy to park at West Quay multi story and walk across. The staff brought out a birthday cake and candles we provided and sang happy birthday so they earned their 10% service charge there. *Negatives* - The service wasn’t great at all. Everything was very slow, the staff seemed to be aimlessly wandering around and not really focussing on the customers. At one point there were at least 4 of them floating around the place looking for a fiver that one of them had misplaced. This was around the time we waited nearly 30 minutes for the bill which I had previously asked for… - 1 of the party ordered the Beef Rib which he had seen on the chains Tik Tok account. The video showed it falling off he bone. Unfortunately his needed a chisel to remove it and was pretty much inedible. Waste of £25. - The toilets were disgusting and clearly hadn’t been cleaned or checked on for hours. The cubicle my wife tried to use had a broken toilet seat, toilet paper not in the holders and was just sat on the side as well as a general smell of an unclean toilet environment. Major red flag for the below as if this is how they keep their toilets clean… - It has since come to light that the 3 of the party that had the fried oysters (2 servings between 3) have now got food poisoning. They were the only 3 to have this dish and all 3 are quite ill. They have collectively spoken to the restaurant and will be looking to take this further to protect any future customers of this site. I would love to say that I could recommend the Red Dog Saloon however with our experience I would suggest you take your business elsewhere to protect both your health and your finances!

The meat platter was enjoyable and the wine was nice too. However, I tried a friends oyster and I, along with 2 friends who had oysters, have experienced food poisoning. We are the only 3 who tried the oysters and the only people in our party of 10 who have felt ill within 48 hours of eating at the restaurant. Also one of the taps in the gents loos was faulty, one of the cubicles had no toilet roll and the other cubicle had the toilet paper placed on the back of the toilet A disappointing experience all considered

I had been recommended this restaurant by a friend who spoke most highly of the food on offer! I looked at your social media, and the video of your Beef Rib literally sliding off the bone had me salivating in anticipation. Unfortunately, our experience at Red Dog Saloon was poor, to put it mildly. The two courses I had were the Fried Oysters and the Long Horn Beef Rib. The oysters were virtually inedible, they are the saltiest thing I’ve ever tasted - and to be clear, I like oysters, I’ve enjoyed them on many occasions at other establishments. The saltiness of them was not helped by the fact that for some reason they were served on a literal bed of salt. Despite my disappointing starter, I was still looking forward to my tender Beef Rib… unfortunately whoever cooked the one for the social media page didn’t seem to be working this evening. My beef rib required hacking off the bone - not an easy task with a blunt table knife and then proved to be thick as old boots. The staff didn’t ask how our food was during our meal, and didn’t seem bothered that they had taken most of a hacked away at Beef Rib from me when clearing our table. I cannot speak for each of the fellow patrons who visited with me, but a couple of them confided in me that their experience had certainly not been what they had expected either, including a number of them having to ask for new plates as they had been given obviously dirty ones. The other reviews I have seen, and the testimony of others who have visited before make me sure that tonight was an anomaly, however, it was my honest experience. Unappatising food, tough meat, dirty toilets and inattentive staff lead me to leaving this review. To be fair, the staff did happily bring out the birthday cake and candles that we provided them with at the start of our meal and this made for a nice moment. And, my wife enjoyed her chicken tenders very much.

Great food and atmosphere was terrific. Tried the Philly Cheese Burger and sampled some ribs which were pretty damn impressive. Give it a shot ‘Dog’.

We were wanting to try this place for a while now! And we were so disappointed! We wanted to order the meat board and as we were ordering it the waitress was so rude, telling us that we couldn’t order it for one person as it’s a sharing platter and then pointed aggressively at the menu saying “it does say there that it’s for the minimum of 2 people” then walked away in such a rude manner. The platter came out and my partner could’ve easily had one to himself! Such a small portion of food for £70! All of The staff were so bitchy, we actually witnessed a waitress slag off a customer that was waiting for a missing item, it actually put us off our food and the minute we payed we left in a heartbeat. Just go the extra distance and go to hickory’s 🤣

Went for lunch with a friend, amazing food, friendly staff, and wasn't busy so we got a table straight away. Definitely will be back again.

Absolutely disappointed. Had a table booked for 2 months for Christmas eve only to be rung and asked to change our time to 5pm. Supposedly they were going to be short staffed. When explained we don't finish work till 5pm we were told they would cancel our booking.. a bit late. I know it's Christmas but if your job requires you to work....you work.

Previously got for a takeaway and abit on the pricey side but well worth it if you love good bbq. Great American style that's hard to get here Went in person recently and the service was generally very good considering its a popular busy restaurant. Food and most importantly the meat was brilliant. Brisket and the cheese steak burger really were top marks Genuine feedback, Only minor let down was the size of the sides for the price. We thought considering some ingredients like corn and macaroni might presumably be cheaper, that the sides were slightly stingy Overall really delicious and would recommend

Spent over £100 today on a very disappointing meal for 3. The burger was as expected and the fries (ordered in addition) were ok, but the other 2 dishes were very poor quality meat, fatty brisket and ribs with processed sausage and what is advertised as 'wafer thin aged ribeye' in a 'Hoagie' came out as overly salted pulled mush covered in yellow goo in a hotdog roll with no provolone cheese as advertised. All very poorly presented. Seriously not impressed. We complained to staff who blamed a change of meat provider but said no more. I wrapped most of the meat up to bring home for the dog as I didn't want to waste it at that price. We will not be returning!

Good food craft beers great place.

When we had arrived we had to wait about 10 minutes as they appeared to of overbooked, fine no biggie. Bought the Oregon platter which was £62/£65. We waited over 30 minutes which wasnt bad considering how busy it was. However half of it arrived freezing cold, the sides we didnt even touch, as the mash and beans were so cold that they had set in place (beans could be tilted at a 40’ angle before they started to move). The chicken wings whilst nicely seasoned were freezing cold. The brisket was nice however a bit too salty. The coleslaw was quite nice and helped take away from the salt. The most egregious item were the pork shoulder slices, lukewarm, over smoked or something but the taste was that of burnt plastic. The service was okay however before giving us the chance to mention the above problems, the lady simply said “are we all finished”, picked up the tray and ran off with before we could get a word in. She was serving a larger table of 8+ so I imagine it was a stressful night for her as well so nothing to really complain about on that score. Cue about 6 hours of stomach complaints and cursing red dog for forsaking us with these terrible gastrointestinal problems. Truthfully I imagine this place is amazing when it’s quiet but it is frightfully expensive for the service and quality that we received last night.

What a shambles!!!!!! Food was cold, burgers were undercooked, almost rare and the place was freezing! Everyone was sat with their coats on complaining of the cold. Surely with the prices they are charging for a burger, they can afford to pay the heating bill! However, looking at the other reviews I’m not sure if this was just a bad day at the office for Red Dog Saloon, the manager was quick to apologise and take 50% off the bill. Still, we left like we should have gone somewhere else - not impressed.

Honestly my experience was perfect, I couldn't have had a better time if I tried, it was my partners 30th birthday and they were able to accommodate 11 of us, the food was top tier, the staff were incredible, 10/10, I would definitely come back again.

Great meat BBQ restaurant with excellent food, friendly quick service & great tasting speciality Agwa (distilled coca) Mojitos. Happy to recommend & visit again. If possible try to order one of their Platters to share (min 2 people)

Uss New York platter, with our choice of burger was amazing! The chicken tenders where big and juicy not dry at all , the brisket melted in your mouth, it was all very good ,the only thing I will say was the fries where a little soggy and cold , for people looking for good meaty food and ranch dressing, come here definitely American approved The service was slow and it was quiet in the restaurant, had to remind them about drinks after waiting a while, and did not receive the right drinks, but the staff were not very attentive but where friendly

Friday night meal. Disappointed. Overpriced for what it is..basically meat/burger plus extra for chips etc. Had to ask twice for someone to pop over to take a drinks order as we had drunk our first drink and meals had since been eaten. Staff had jackets on around 9.30pm, go out for a smoke out the front and some waiting to go home. Clear that we were holding everyone from going home. 6 people, had 2 drinks and a main meal, £245. Dessert 'menu' was waffles with a load of toppings at £12.95 each. The lovely waitress told us it was a 2 week old 'menu' and they used to do Brownies, cheesecake etc, but now it's just £12.95 waffles, so we didn't bother. Shame really as it could and should have been a good evening in there, but it wasn't to be. Clear that it lacked an experienced manager that needs their team to go above and beyond, rather than a team waiting to get out on a Friday night. Sorry, but I'm afraid it's a 3 star 😞

Had a really nice time. Good food great atmosphere and friendly staff. Was served by Romani and Charlie who went above and beyond.

Petteri was friendly and attentive and the meal was lovely. What was even better was he asked us to roll a dice when the bill was given. I rolled a six and the bill was waived! Thank you!

A Disappointing Dining Experience. RedDog Saloon in Southampton boasts an impressive interior, creating a visually appealing atmosphere. However, our recent experience there was far from satisfying. The service was painfully slow, with a nearly two-hour wait for our food. When the food finally arrived, it was both incorrect and lukewarm. The burger, their specialty, was dry and difficult to eat. While the restaurant was informed weeks in advance about our large group, the service and food quality were still subpar. It's a shame that a place with such potential could deliver such a disappointing dining experience. While a smaller group might have a different experience, the high prices and the risk of another disappointing meal make it unlikely that we'll return to RedDog Saloon. It's a place we'd recommend for drinks only, not for a full dining experience, especially for larger groups.

Terrible service, the drinks we’d preferred were not available but no one told us so we sat waiting. Food took ages to come out and it was very average. Then when we got the bill it was twice what was expected because the price for the meal was listed per person in very small print. Utterly unimpressed

We visited at lunchtime on a Saturday. We found all the staff to be very friendly and attentive. They fixed a mistake on our order very quickly! Delicious platter especially the brisket and wings. Will definitely be going back.

Expensive and Warm everything. Ordered the brisket, partner ordered a burger. Brisket was dry from being under the heat lamp and the coleslaw and pickles were warm. (Probably made first and then had to wait for the burger before bringing it out) Given a 20% west quay discount (after I complained). I should have just refused the food, but I don’t like food waste, so I ate it anyway. Overall very disappointed, and I won’t be going back! As a side note the servers were friendly and tried their best.

We had dinner there last night and it was perfect. Lovely atmosphere great service and the food was excellent. Two lovely guys looked after us and couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. We will definitely return.

Charming atmosphere with comfortable seating. Delicious Nachos and Hot chicken! We are used to good Tex Mex where we live so we are picky. Best nachos we have had since being in the UK. Moh was an awesome waiter. Totally enjoyed!

I went to red dog in Nottingham a few years ago and it had some quite outrageous dishes on the menu then, however the other day I looking for food in Southampton and stumbled across their menu and something caught my eye. Any Burger that titles itself " Cronos: Titan ruler of the universe " deserves to be checked out, and so I did. I went for the single patty XL variant (they do a double patty version) and it was HUGE. All elements were of a high quality, the brisket, the pork, the link sausages. A particular highlight was the mozzarella sticks. the burger was expertly put together, my only critique was that such a creation just cannot be eaten as a burger, it will fall foul of being to much to handle, and you will likely deconstruct it to eat it. However, it was really nice. Service was quick and attentive, and the venue itself was clean and well presented. My friend like a whisky, and was high in praise for the selection on offer, commenting that he wishes to return to try other rare whisky's he saw on their menu. Some comments on here suggest price is a point of challenge, and I would concur - it is not a cheap place to eat ("Cronos" cost me £27 before I had to add fries to go with it.....) however, I didn't feel ripped off, the quality of the item hit the numbers. Go and treat yourself :)

Giving five star to everything, food , place and service ! It's worth the price here. The beef brisket was superb. What makes this place stellar was the service, I can say one of the best dining experiences so far. Not the fastest out of the kitchen,but it was the little touches, like giving water to our dog and other things.

Overall, it was very good BBQ food, but some elements of the platter I've had better, not an amazing beer selection, felt very limited, cocktails are made for the aesthetic rather than being well made and were very expensive for what they were. Drinks that should be mixed well are clearly layered making flavors weak or overpowering. There were no straws to drink or mix them. Had to use a clean knife for it. Exceptionally busy and walk-ins were constantly being allowed in along with people with reservations. There is no where to sit and wait for your turn but stand awkwardly at the bar watching other people eat and, but you also had to hug the bar because otherwise you will be in the way of anyone moving between the bar and and the tables closest to it. Which is especially problematic in a group of 3+. Too loud to hold a conversation, and no system in place to track who had been waiting longer. The benches are too low and uncomfortable, particularly if you have back issues. It feels like it is built to maximise customers, which makes the experience worse.

Me and the mrs was looking at this place for a while and travelled from Bournemouth, was not disappointed whatsoever and the service was great! We had a server called Moh who was really easy and helped the mrs out on a few of her decisions and she was happy with them!

Food is wonderful, they changed the beers which was disappointing but still a little on the pricey side. Still a treat!

Pretty rubbish experience! Place was overcrowded, seems more of a bar than a restaurant! Slow service, rude staff ( apart from one girl who was really good ) wrong orders with incorrect food thrown at young children. No cutlery for about 10minutes after food finally served. And to top it off chicken was raw!!!!!! I’m fully aware of blood vessels in some parts of chicken! But this was RAW!!!! waitress literally wipped it away in seconds when I showed her explained manager would come over to explain, but he never did. I was then given a lesson on chickens at the end perhaps if he had actually looked at it he would understand. The bog also resembled something form an Indian slum.

Just to let you know….our group is from Alabama and Texas. We had the Oregon platter for 3 and 4 of us ate….and we left food. Way too much food and it was absolutely delicious!! Definitely worth the trip!!

Me and my girlfriend came for dinner at the Southampton restaurant and were extremely impressed by the waiter petteri he was so kind and friendly he went over and above to make our experience a great one we very much enjoyed our food and petteri made the experience 10x better thankyou petteri
