Red Dog Saloon in Southampton

Expensive and Warm everything. Ordered the brisket, partner ordered a burger. Brisket was dry from being under the heat lamp and the coleslaw and pickles were warm. (Probably made first and then had to wait for the burger before bringing it out) Given a 20% west quay discount (after I complained). I should have just refused the food, but I don’t like food waste, so I ate it anyway. Overall very disappointed, and I won’t be going back! As a side note the servers were friendly and tried their best.

We visited at lunchtime on a Saturday. We found all the staff to be very friendly and attentive. They fixed a mistake on our order very quickly! Delicious platter especially the brisket and wings. Will definitely be going back.

We had dinner there last night and it was perfect. Lovely atmosphere great service and the food was excellent. Two lovely guys looked after us and couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. We will definitely return.

Giving five star to everything, food , place and service ! It's worth the price here. The beef brisket was superb. What makes this place stellar was the service, I can say one of the best dining experiences so far. Not the fastest out of the kitchen,but it was the little touches, like giving water to our dog and other things.

Charming atmosphere with comfortable seating. Delicious Nachos and Hot chicken! We are used to good Tex Mex where we live so we are picky. Best nachos we have had since being in the UK. Moh was an awesome waiter. Totally enjoyed!

I went to red dog in Nottingham a few years ago and it had some quite outrageous dishes on the menu then, however the other day I looking for food in Southampton and stumbled across their menu and something caught my eye. Any Burger that titles itself " Cronos: Titan ruler of the universe " deserves to be checked out, and so I did. I went for the single patty XL variant (they do a double patty version) and it was HUGE. All elements were of a high quality, the brisket, the pork, the link sausages. A particular highlight was the mozzarella sticks. the burger was expertly put together, my only critique was that such a creation just cannot be eaten as a burger, it will fall foul of being to much to handle, and you will likely deconstruct it to eat it. However, it was really nice. Service was quick and attentive, and the venue itself was clean and well presented. My friend like a whisky, and was high in praise for the selection on offer, commenting that he wishes to return to try other rare whisky's he saw on their menu. Some comments on here suggest price is a point of challenge, and I would concur - it is not a cheap place to eat ("Cronos" cost me £27 before I had to add fries to go with it.....) however, I didn't feel ripped off, the quality of the item hit the numbers. Go and treat yourself :)

Overall, it was very good BBQ food, but some elements of the platter I've had better, not an amazing beer selection, felt very limited, cocktails are made for the aesthetic rather than being well made and were very expensive for what they were. Drinks that should be mixed well are clearly layered making flavors weak or overpowering. There were no straws to drink or mix them. Had to use a clean knife for it. Exceptionally busy and walk-ins were constantly being allowed in along with people with reservations. There is no where to sit and wait for your turn but stand awkwardly at the bar watching other people eat and, but you also had to hug the bar because otherwise you will be in the way of anyone moving between the bar and and the tables closest to it. Which is especially problematic in a group of 3+. Too loud to hold a conversation, and no system in place to track who had been waiting longer. The benches are too low and uncomfortable, particularly if you have back issues. It feels like it is built to maximise customers, which makes the experience worse.

Me and the mrs was looking at this place for a while and travelled from Bournemouth, was not disappointed whatsoever and the service was great! We had a server called Moh who was really easy and helped the mrs out on a few of her decisions and she was happy with them!

Food is wonderful, they changed the beers which was disappointing but still a little on the pricey side. Still a treat!

Pretty rubbish experience! Place was overcrowded, seems more of a bar than a restaurant! Slow service, rude staff ( apart from one girl who was really good ) wrong orders with incorrect food thrown at young children. No cutlery for about 10minutes after food finally served. And to top it off chicken was raw!!!!!! I’m fully aware of blood vessels in some parts of chicken! But this was RAW!!!! waitress literally wipped it away in seconds when I showed her explained manager would come over to explain, but he never did. I was then given a lesson on chickens at the end perhaps if he had actually looked at it he would understand. The bog also resembled something form an Indian slum.

Just to let you know….our group is from Alabama and Texas. We had the Oregon platter for 3 and 4 of us ate….and we left food. Way too much food and it was absolutely delicious!! Definitely worth the trip!!

Me and my girlfriend came for dinner at the Southampton restaurant and were extremely impressed by the waiter petteri he was so kind and friendly he went over and above to make our experience a great one we very much enjoyed our food and petteri made the experience 10x better thankyou petteri

Seen this place on Instagram and TikTok and the food looked banging. Only to drive from Bournemouth for a mates birthday meal to be disappointed. Such small portions compared to what they show you online. Mac and cheese was £7.50 and it was smaller than a cat bowl. Definitely not £7.50 worth. The cheese sauce for it tasted like melted cheese slices that you get in the plastic wrapping. Couldn’t eat it. My burger was dry, yes I ordered well done because we got told the chef’s don’t know how to cook burgers medium and can only do rare or well. I’ve cooked plenty of well done burgers for people and it’s never been dry. So your chef’s need re training. Also to add the burger menu prices were wrong. And they still haven’t been updated which is pure laziness. The size of the chips was a handful for £5.50 and they came out cold and felt like cardboard. The food tasted plain with no seasoning. My partner’s Philly cheesesteak sandwich was literally microwaved meat. Hot on the outside and cold in the middle. So she said how she couldn’t eat it. We were all going to get the platters. Then we noticed how they they con people into paying double the price by only giving the price for one person. The service was shocking, no enthusiasm, staff looked board and like they hated working there. No smile service. When I said about my peanut allergy as someone part of the group ordered a peanut burger, I was told that I’ve ordered the cheese burger so I won’t have any issues with nuts. I then explained how it can easily contaminate and that’s why I’m requesting for it to be cooked separately and away. I felt like he was talking to me as if I was 6. We then heard the staff slagging customers off behind us and being racist to a group of Asian people. Vile behaviour. Will never be coming back here and I recommend everyone stays away.

First time eating here with my best mate and son today. Been meaning to try this place out for ages and oh my word. Great service. Exceptional food. Atmosphere. Location plus there was the Christmas ice rink right outside along with Christmas market so all in all five star experience highly recommend and will go again definitely. The price I paid was for 3 people including drinks and under £60. Thank you.

For delivery boy staff is rude there is no manager no welcoming staff there is help desk but always there is no one when we enter we feel we are begging we didn’t came for delivery job

The staff here could not be more helpful! The guy behind the bar(James maybe) took me through all the nice whiskeys they had. We settled on a couple and they were amazing! The food we had was decent, wings were very over seasoned and the short ribs were not quite what I was expecting. I will give this place another go and hopefully bump up the stars!

Very poor, beer was flat, chicken wings undercooked. Small burger, slimey onion rings & too much sauce. Way too much paprika on the chips, unaware they were served like this too, had I’d known would have asked for plain chips. The service charge was already added to the bill without being informed. Certainly not value for money. Took ages to pay

The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere great with a really nice feel to the place! The food was fantastic, the straight-up simple cheeseburger was delicious and I was so happy when asked how I would like it cooked!! Pink in the middle and it was just that, absolutely perfect. I can't even get started on the chicken tenders because I really don't know what to say other than thank you ahahaha! Amazing experience all round, highly recommend! Oh and the Red Dog Lager is out of this world, I wish we had one back home in Glasgow!!

OVERPRICED platter for 2 over £60 , when you pay that much you expect it to be excellent no wonder it was empty in there . Shame cause we had high hopes . Service was good everyone was friendly but that was the only good bit .

I visited Red Dog Saloon off the back of recommendations from friend's and family. Unfortunately, the whole experience was sub-par. The potential was there, however Red Dog did not deliver the quality and exceptional dining experience I was promised. Bad points: The waiter told me to go and "look for myself" rather than tell me which lager they had on drought. I suspect this was due to a lack of experience on his part, but this is a very poor attitude. The wrong drinks were delivered to our table (we only had 1 each and there were 2 of us). Our chips were delivered stone cold and although there were only a handful of people in the restaurant we did not receive a replacement portion until well after our other food had been eaten. We only had 1 set of cutlery on the table, 1 set of cutlery that had been previously used and put back in the cutlery pot with someone else's food and saliva all over them! The toilets were dreadfully dirty, to the point that my other half refused to sit on the toilet seat! The waiting time for staff attendance was so long that we had to get up twice to ask for assistance and the bill. Good points: I ordered the brisket burger, the brisket was wonderfully cooked and melt-in-the-mouth. The whole burger was delicious and I would recommend. When the replacement chips were eventually brought to the table they were lovely and crispy with the perfect amount of seasoning. Please address these issues as I felt like there was the potential for a much better dining experience than I had.

Our recent visit was quite underwhelming. Despite having a reservation, we were made to wait 30 minutes, with the staff claiming we were waiting for a table to be cleaned. However, we were eventually seated at a table that had cleared just minutes earlier. The platter we ordered was missing some key items like the sweet tea, sausages, and beans. When we pointed this out, we only received one small sausage for a portion meant for two, and the beans, which were so watery and clearly microwaved quickly. The brisket was bland, the ribs were tough with a bitter dry rub, and the shoulder was dry. The mashed potatoes, collard greens, and shrimp cocktail were the only highlights. Overall, the poor service, missing items, and inconsistent food quality made this a disappointing experience.

Convinced I just ate something from another plane of existence. How on earth did their 'nashville hot chicken' taste like fish? It was undercooked and messy and I couldn't even eat more than one nibble before I realised it was pink in the middle still and quite frankly inedible. Also ordered '4-way pulled pork mac and cheese' and I got a metal pot of undercooked pasta shells, cheeze whiz and some dry as anything bacon bits on top. For the love of all things holy, please order absolutely anywhere else.

Where do I start. I can’t lie this was absolutely shocking. 64 bumbarassclart quid for that platter, you’re taking the piss. The ice tea tastes like your grandmas piss. The mash was scared of seasoning apparently. The fried oysters came with the fry part but not so much the oyster part, it was straight up batter. The wings just about got this to a one star, but ur local chicken shop would be a better choice. Honestly, pls take yourselves over to literally ANY OTHER establishment, I’m sure Alcatraz had better food. The guy serving was alright tho. Peace, love and prosperity.

Food was fine, but service was terrible. Servers either ignored you or flung things around with sad or angry faces. Restaurant was half empty and still had to get someone's attention for ordering as staff were busy vaping or talking. Be aware they sneak a 10% service charge on the bill.

Salad was swimming in a creamy dressing and looked more like soup than a salad. This defeated the object of having a side salad. The ‘ice cold salad’ was packaged in the box next to the formally warm chicken and beef. Rendering both horribly lukewarm. The Juicy Lucy burger was horrendous. My husband had a bite and was genuinely confused as to what I had ordered. The brisket was tough and incredibly greasy (indicating brisket was not the cut of meat used) and the hot links sausage lacked any flavour other than salt. This came topped with an entire tub of coleslaw and a disgusting vinegar mustard sauce which made the roll wet. The roll didn’t stand a chance with all of the wet ingredients thrown into it. Over all this meal was inedible and left us feeling unwell from the small amount we consumed. The fries were ok. This was a Deliveroo order therefore we cannot comment on the restaurant service. For a restaurant we ate at a few times over the years we will now avoid at all costs. Eventually Deliveroo decided to refund us for everything except the fries. We pushed for a refund especially as this is not a cheap restaurant to eat at. Costing £46 for 2 burger meals that I wouldn’t feed to a dog.

Petteri's customer service skills were excellent and exceptional! We walked in with 12 people. We didn't call ahead and told him we didn't have to all sit together. Well Petteri aka Mr. Wonderful put 6 tables together and we were all set! Petteri really went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable, our orders were correct and that we had everything we needed. The food was delicious! Then he made sure our bills were correct before taking payment! Petteri is a wonderful person with a fantastic personality and great work ethic! Petteri should be your Employee of the Month and then your Employee of the Year! Please recognize his outstanding customer service for our USA group! Thank you, Petteri for a great dining experience!!

Terrible restaurant. Poor service, rat visited our table , waiter did not bring bill for 20 minutes after we asked for it and then someone came running out to ask if we had paid. Will never go there again, very disappointed.

We had a BuyaGift voucher for lunch for two, only went yesterday. The very best BBQ food and awesome milk shakes. We cannot rate the food highly enough, burgers, brisket, buffalo wings and scallops were all cooked to perfection. Malted milk shakes were amazing. Food and drink servers were top guys, friendly, helpful and courteous. Booked a table for 1pm, place was quiet, but this did not detract from the service, food presentation, quality or speed of service. Will definitely go back again, and can recommend to anyone, especially carnivores.... :-)

Had high expectations with this place as we love BBQ places like hickorys and rodeos. However, we were disappointed with this place. We ordered a platter for 2 people which was over £60, and it was tiny! I could have eaten nearly all of it myself, which I did as my partner didn't like it and said it was too salty. To me the food itself was decent but looked a lot better than it was. Our platter was supposed to come with ice teas but we never received them. We told the waiter, and he wasn't aware of this. We received these about 20 minutes later and we'd almost finished our meal at this point. I really don't think the food here is good value for how much you pay. Our waiter never asked how the food was, asked us if we wanted any drinks when we had only just received them and didn't seem knowledgeable They also added a £8 service charge to the meal which I asked to take off. This put my back up Honestly not sure if I'd go back but I love the location so we'll probably trying some of the other restaurants nearby

The portion sizes were larger than we expected, which is a good thing! Atmosphere was nice and the service was good. Nothing too exceptional but it was a good dining experience.

Absolutely American BBQ heaven. If you need a eating challenge go here and order a platter for two, it's ana amazing experience. I made it about 3/4 of the way through this beast of plater bellow. Everything tasted incredible, nothing was rushed. All the meat just fell apart, some of the best wings I've had in the UK (sorry wing stop). Nothing was dry, and everything was full of flavour If you go definitely order your beer in pitchers, or try one of there long island iced teas, they have some good cocktails makers. 10/10

Wow where can I start, came to this restaurant with high hopes as I ate here a few years ago and enjoyed the food however for a Monday night the service was extremely slow and staff all seemed uninterested, the food arrived after a long wait and as from the pictures my burger was slop. When the waiter came and asked about the food my boyfriend responded ok it’s not great and pointed to te burger which he replied well you liked the chicken wings (as they were eaten) and then the waiter left! after this we asked for the manager we got told they where on break and we would have to wait, some time after she came over and asked what’s wrong with the burger the look or taste to which I said both, she said it’s American food and supposed to be oily I was getting angry now as the burger is clearly just slop she said well I ate the burger yes today and had to problems when I asked if she would eat this eventually she took the burger off the bill as the food is not cheap by all means however an overall rude, uncomfortable and disappointing experience would never return.

Was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. A very rude waitress and a manger. Completely unacceptable, never experienced anything like it in all years of eating out.

This was my second time here and it was so much better this time. The first time was on a busy Saturday night, this time on a quiet Sunday evening and the food was top class, the burgers were so big, each one could have fed a small village, and the chicken tenders were absolutely huge and unbelievably tender. Really good food this time around.

Such friendly and helpful staff. It was super busy when we went last night but that didn't stop them from being kind and helpful. Will 100% be returning

First time ever visiting a Red Dog Saloon. Overrated, massively overpriced, food all cold and tough meat. Cook better BBQ at home on my Traeger.

First time visit, and we shared a platter for 2, well portions are huge and we weren't expecting quite so much. Even 2 people could quite happily share a platter for one. Food wasn't the hottest and got cold very quick. Also realised once we had left that we didn't receive the sweet tea that comes with the platter, the desert trolley didn't even cross our minds because of the quantity of food. Staff were attentive to take orders, but service definitely slowed down after that, plate clearing and getting the bill took ages. Not sure I'd return, but husband seems more keen 😂

Lovely staff. Had a problem with our order and they fixed it for us and took it off our bill. Amazing service, very welcoming and kind. The food was spot on.

Great food as always though service was pretty slow and they only had three tables to deal with which was odd. Didn't detract from the meal though. Had the iced tea lunchtime off which comes with essentially a bucket of Iced tea. I'm not a fan but it still made the meal good value.

Visited as apart of a Southampton food exploration project…this had all the potential to be amazing but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. We came all the down from Cotswolds. 1. Extremely poor service, we were often just forgotten about 2. Took 45 mins for drinks to come followed by starters. Starters went cold as we had no cutlery and eventually had to chase down a member of staff twice 3. Took ages for our empty plates to be cleared 4. Mains came out in parts with long gaps so food wasn’t together which meant some were eating and some weren’t. 5. Ask three times for the dips in the end just gave up 6. Asked for another round of drinks which never showed up 7. Staff didn’t know table numbers and seemed completely confused 8. No clear sign of management 9. All the other tables around us were saying the same thing, shocking service, forgotten about, missing items etc 10. Had to audacity to add service charge to the bill which was swiftly removed The food was good, expensive but it tasted great. However the rest of the experience ruined the experience unfortunately. Especially as the bills was £115 for two of us.

Good BBQ is hard to find, and we found it. We came here a few years ago and it was really poor, was convinced to come back for a friends birthday and it’s really turned around. We shared two different trays between four and we couldn’t finish it. £200 with drinks wasn’t too bad for some great food and sides ( not in the photo) Nobody’s perfect but I won’t take a star off for it, but as feedback, we had to chase up drinks and the bill a few times as after 9pm the staff seemed to disappear or forget… but when speaking with them they were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Will definitely return!

Friday night date night started off poorly. Despite having a table booked for 8 pm, we arrived to find it wasn’t ready. We were sent to the bar, where we waited 15 minutes to be served. We ordered a Long Island iced tea and recieved a jug of iced tea. It then took a further 15 minutes to get the correct drink. Once seated, we asked for the beef brisket combo and were suggested the New York combo. we received the New York combo, which had no beef brisket just two slices of thin beef, which is not what we wanted though the food itself was quite good. The service, however, was disappointing. Any drink ordered had a significant wait time. We learned it was the bartenders first day, It’s not a good idea to put a new staff member on bar duty on a busy Friday night

Arrived for our 19:30 booking. Manager said he would clean a table and seat us. 20:00 we still hadn’t been seated, the manager ignored us but checked the football on the projector many times before we got seated. Young waiter (helpful and friendly) was sent over to try seat us on an unused table infront of the projector…. Once finally seated at a proper table our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Overall not great start from the manager but the waiters were very helpful and the food was good. Nearly ruined anniversary meal !

The mac and cheese is unreal and staff were good could of had a bit more attention on our table of 6 as was missing items and we had to keep asking multiple times other than that was good could of had abit more option for dessert seem to be out of stock of the same items everytime i go which is a shame

The service is very slow although the place is half full. No still or sparkling water just tap water !! The food is average It seems they're understaffed , it took is an hour to get the food which was sandwiches.

Red Dog Saloon is hands down my absolute favourite restaurant. The food is always tasty, fresh, and high-quality and I thoroughly enjoy eating here. The atmosphere is great, and the service is always friendly and efficient. What really stands out for me is the Californian burger. It's incredibly flavourful and delicious, with the perfect blend of ingredients that make each bite a delight. If you’re looking for a delightful meal, try this place out!! Highly recommended!

Loud and average. This is our third visit to Red Dog Southampton. Used to be something different and very tasty. Now, unfortunately, the food was average for the cost compared to lots of other places. Service was slow to non-existent and staff more interested in catering for the football table that were the owners friends rather than those in the restaurant. More importantly, staff had no idea about dietary requirements and suggested they could " take the gluten out the burger " but said they are not gluten-free burgers ! Some training is required there. So skipped and went for the brisket instead. Which was ok. Sadly won't be going again as we used to enjoy it.

we have been coming here for many of months and we are usually very happy with the food. but the staff were lacking in efficiency , we had to ask for cutlery 5 minutes are we got our food. the burgers have changed, last time they were plump fresh seeded buns and were delicious, this time they were wrapped up in paper and the bottom bum was soggy so thin and half was missing, the top bun was squashed and hard, it was an overall huge letdown as we usually love it here. i don’t know what’s happened this place.

We visited for a nice BBQ lunch. Let's get the food out of the way. I honestly can't complain about the food. It was cooked well and was tasty. The server was there within a minute of us sitting down to get the drinks order and asked about the food order. We said we have never been and want a proper look, they said fine but where back literally a minute later. At this point we had not had enough time to look over the menu properly which meant there was a few regrets when we got our food. As we finished our food we were quite quickly moved on and for the price we paid for the food, the ability to sit a little while after would have been nice. Over all the food is outstanding but the service and the price are issues. 2 adults and a child ( children's menu is very good £6.95 for 2 courses including a drink and all large which is extremely good value but for my wife and me it was £110 for lunch. This was only with a coke each to drink too. Food is great but overall a fairly average experience due to the rushed service.

Came for bottomless wings, they were great, though the spicy ones were very mild and dry, hopefully they just brought us the wrong ones. When we initially sat down it took about 15 minutes for someone to take our food order. Women's toilets didn't have any toilet paper, and it took me almost 10 minutes to find someone to ask for some. They didn't even bother to put it in the dispenser, just left it above the toilet. We came in at 17:00 and until half past five there was rarely any staff on the floor. They were attentive with the food but not with the drinks which were also bottomless. After dropping off our bill no one came back so we just had to go to them to pay before leaving. Overall just a lack of attention, lack of staff, and not many choices for dips.

This has tasty burgers and chicken, but we weren't impressed with the side dishes on offer. The fries were cold and very average, the Mac and cheese tasted like it was from a box, the BBQ beans were SO watery anytime you picked up a bean all the sauce flew off, the fried pickles were really soft and floppy. One of our burgers was cold around the edge from being sat on the pass for a while. But positives: milkshakes were really tasty, the cocktails were well made, and the fried chicken really is very tasty and juicy. Plus the servers were all so nice. Something I will say is I can see why the dessert trolley is offered for free, as by the time we had even eaten half of our food (1 burger + 1 side), we could not even fathom anything else as we all felt so uncomfortably full. But I think I'd learn and share a burger or something next time as it looked nice. All in all, I don't think I'll go back, but I'm happy I've tried it. Maybe the platters are nicer

Terrible service, burger was terrible chicken had been fried for must have been three days.. rip off prawn cocktail with thin slice for fryer baguette I guess... Was excited for this place after smelling the smoker but won't be back

Years ago this restaurant was good. Visited yesterday, I was incredibly blown away by the extortionate prices - our order had missing elements but we were still charged the full price. Our burgers had missing sauce, bacon, portions were very small verses the photos (very clever with product placement), the Mozzarella sticks were under cooked and hard in the middle. We ordered Onion rings then told 10 minutes later that they had ran out. The ‘slaw’ was some of the worst coleslaw I have ever tried, it was warm and swimming in a fluid that tasted like Jif. Service was shocking, it took them 49 minutes to serve our mains, and then when we ordered cheese cake it took them a further 28 minutes. The cheesecake was absolutely appalling, it was warm, dried out, and served on a hot plate with some canned whipped cream! It was a gelatinous lump of dough that had no flavour - you could buy a better quality cheesecake in the value section of Tesco. For two people, we had two mains, Slaw and Fries, two drinks and two puddings - £80.85 was the bill. I was so tempted to call Mastercard and claim for a refund as this was an insult to other restaurants that charge lower fees and offer better service and products. I’ve never walked out of a restaurant feeling deflated and hoping that I don’t need to visit a toilet shortly after. Absolutely speechless, the management and product team need to reset and look at what you offer and create something authentic.

Service was so incredibly slow. Took nearly an hour for food to come out. Some elements were missing- we were told they had run out of onion rings but one burger was also missing a garlic mayo, and the other didn't have the bacon. There was no price reduction for missing elements. Espresso martini listed as being made with finlandia vodka but they used smirnoff. For the pricetag, I would not expect the cheapest vodka. Cheesecake pudding came out warm.

Terrible service, staff attitude very rude, group of 8 people, booked the table week in advance, but on our arrival most of the menu wasn’t available, in the end got served after 1 hour of waiting, of same dish, but each different sizes, which was obviously they run out of meat, never again

Very busy, but still it shouldn’t take 35 minutes to get your drink. Burger pattys were great but the cremated bacon and soggy onion rings spoilt it a bit. Plus, why are the fries more paprika than potato??? Maybe better when it’s less busy. Friendly staff, when they speak to you.

First time at this restaurant, yes it's loud but the staff are helpful and polite and really enjoyed the whole experience. The platter we got had a good selection of meat and you can choose the burger or sandwiches you want. You definitely don't need starters but we did fit in d dessert each. My only moan is that there is a 10% service charge added into the bill which is discretionary, I would've tipped anyway but the service charge was my tip this time.

Absolute rip off, we ordered the platter for 3 people and ended up with a slice of meat and 1 rib for £35 each, would not recommend

Philly Cheeseteak, Ceasar salad, Buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, margaritas, red dog lager. All delicious 😋. Our server was cheerful and friendly. We were not rushed to leave. Spent £99 for 4 pax.

As a Texas native, I was thrilled to experience a classic American BBQ platter here. The Chopped Pork Sandwich was outstanding, although I wish the Mac & Cheese had been gooier instead of soupy. I highly recommend trying the USS Kentucky platter. The service was mediocre; we waited 30 minutes for our check after requesting it twice, and they initially forgot our Mac & Cheese until we reminded them. The atmosphere is authentic with a lively vibe, though our seating area had some leftover food on the floor. Despite these issues, the food was excellent, and I plan to return.

Red dog saloon was a recommendation from a friend and what a recommendation it was. Everything was perfect. The burgers exceeded all expectations and the portion sizes of the sides were very generous. I plan to return for the BBQ platter.

A nice place for a good meal. We went as a group (make sure you book as it gets busy in peak times), and everyone was happy with their food. There was the odd annoyance about the food, like one person's burger bun was very greasy, another one's bacon was far too well done (not crispy just hard) but other than that the food quality was great, in fact some of the meat served was the best I've seen - so tender and juicy. Very expensive for a meal out though, and they automatically add on the tip (some find this helpful, I think it's cheeky to assume a set gratuity). The atmosphere is good, if a bit loud due to the customers, but they have background music at a nice level which sets a nice tone. The staff are lovely and helpful, although they forgot a few drinks and we had to remind them of it. I will probably go again if invited there, but I wouldn't choose this place myself due to its high prices.

I have been looking for an American BBQ restaurant for a while and have previously visited Smith & Western in Chichester (not so great these days), the Red Dog Saloon is absolutely amazing. There are lots of different food options but being our first visit we opted for one of the BBQ platters (minimum of two people) so that we could try a bit of everything. It was hard to pick a favourite item off the platter as everything was just so tasty. We decided not to go for starters or sides as we were warned by friends that the platter is substantial and they were right! They smoke their meats onsite out the front of the restaurant which is a nice touch. The drinks menu is vast with a huge whisky and tequila section, I had a beer which came in a stein glass and my partner had a cocktail both were very good. We will be returning to try other things on the menu and would highly recommend to others.

Amazing burgers. Food is great staff not so much and te atmosphere is dull. It is a bit on the expensive side so do expect to spend some money.

The food was quality! However, it was really quite expensive, rich and portion size was too filling. It is an American bbq restaurant so slightly to be expected but the menu could do with some pictures so you know what you’re getting yourself in for. You really do have to prepare your stomach beforehand. I had a “Punisher mk2” and I really do feel punished after eating it. Between the three of us we shared two portions of fries and two portions of coleslaw. I had a double sized serving on the burger so two standard patties. One would have been more than enough. I can’t imagine what XL or double XL would have been like. The toppings on the burger were plentiful and taste albeit the sauce was very rich. The plates the burgers were served on looked good but were a little impractical given the size of the burger and how it liked to spill its toppings and juices. I think if I were to recommend this place, I would advise going with at least three people and only buying a sharing platter of sorts for two people. I can eat a lot generally but I struggled here. This place is alright for a once in a long while occasion. Not somewhere I’d go regularly.

Poor service. Hard to read menus. No description of what products actually are. Just about managed to get home before throwing up disgusting Mac and Cheese. Had to send chips back as they were cold. Asked staff for details of dishes and contents and drinks menu and they didn’t know what the ingredients were. I wouldn’t ever eat there again 🤢

The food has gone really downhill, which is a shame because this was one of our favourite places to eat when in Southampton. Asked for burgers to be well done, one came medium the other was barely cooked and totally raw in the middle. To top it off they add 10% to your bill as a tip without asking if this is okay. I know its an American style place, but wasn't aware I was actually in the US. Last time I checked tips are discretionary in the UK. I don't usually mind adding a tip, but the fact we wasnt even asked and it was just assumed is terrible. Especially given how bad the food was. Already felt robbed off for having to pay the amount we did for that.

Great food, shared a platter, and had plenty.

Food was amazing and nothing to fault, the reason for the slightly negative review is that anything on draft was not cold (not warm but not cold enough for usual temp of draft lager & Guinness) We visited 02-04-24 with a party of 5 (2 from OZ) for a quick snack and drinks, we were told that the draft Stella wasn't working which was fine with us. The first round of 3 drinks brought to our table and the Ozzy's were mortified of the temp after the first sip, we mentioned the warm drinks to our server and after asking her manger the manger agreed to redo the drinks, these were brought back and there was a slight improvement but it seemed that the glasses were cooled under a cold tap. The 2nd round was back to the warm temp, 2 of the Ozzy's left over half a pint their larger each and I left the same of my Guinness (I never ever ever leave a unfinished drink)!! We again mentioned to our server and asked if they can not charge for the 3No drinks again after the manager agreed this was reduced from our final bill.

Excellent food and perfect service , the food really was cooked to perfection and the waiter had the most impeccable manner of service, the manager was also very hospitable and I saw him lead by example for his team and had an impeccable manner, highly recommend thanks

Sat 23rd March, large party of 16 guys, very well looked after by excellent waiter who couldn’t do enough for us,everyone commented on the food which was to an extremely high standard……worth every penny, would 100% go again soon.

I came to this venue in London. Now here… The music is on point. Staff are great. Manager needs a raise.

Contacted my daughter through her profile on a recruitment website and invited her in to work a trial shift on a busy Friday evening. After her trial shift they completely ghosted her. Ignored her e-mail and phonecalls regarding the position. They used her for unpaid temporary labour. Extremely dubious business practices. To add as per the response. We did e-mail Red Dog Saloon and was told it would be looked into. As per the job never heard back. So beware they use recruitment sites to fill staff gaps with unpaid labour.

We came out for family lunch. Ordered food and drinks fine Food was ok burgers came out on ridiculously small plates that they only just fit on the lid fell of my burger which the waitress caught and put back on. All in all not great won’t be back

Food poor quality. Platers well over priced share £60+ for a meal which was no more than £30, no none alcohol free drinks. Wash room Facilities apart from ladies were out order. Meals and drinks were incorrect. Total rip off sadly, would not recommend.

It’s an okay place for a but of food. It’s always crowded and the tables are too close to one another, feels like you’re having dinner with strangers because they are this close to you.
