Very lacklustre popped in for a pint very quiet.Ordered a pint of neck oil and was charged £7.00 seemed expensive for what it was. (London prices are nice if you can charge them) But for an outskirt pub in sandwich I don’t think the experience was value for money…….. especially as a pub 1minute round the corner “The new inn” charges £3.95 for a pint of Stella between 4pm-8pm and was better a better atmosphere and a much brighter setting. The red cow as a last resort yes possibly but always good to look around the Town first.

We sat out in the garden on a lovely sunny Sunday. There is obviously a lot of new garden furniture and I have to say it was very busy. I am not surprised as the prices are good not only for food but drink as well. We looked at the menu and decided to have something to eat. I had one of the "specials" Lasagne (£12) which came with plenty of fries and salad. My husband had the Dirty chips, with cheese, bacon and onion (£8) which he loved. Service was very good. Good value and very pleasant welcoming staff.

Disappointed as we approached as entrance shabby needs painting. Lots dogs in bar. We went to the garden but its so depressing old awful looking garden furniture neglected garden . needs plants and attention to weeds . A depressing place to visit. Considering overseas and holiday visitors to Historical Sandwich and so many pubs closing down why is there no attention shown to this building ? No wonder pubs are closing if no interest is shown in running a business.

Warra pub. Visited with a few friends on the weekend and was met with quite possibly the most enthusiastic and warm character I have ever met. The pub itself was a joy, wonderful interior and a lovey sized garden with flowers abundant. A truly delightful spot to grab a bite and a pint amidst a sun glazed garden fit for any occasion. I will be coming back next weekend for sure!

The red cow is without a doubt the most hospitable pub in sandwich. We went around to a few that day and only the red cow gave a warm, heartfelt and friendly reception. The listed building has limitless charm and the staff are equally charming. The sun glistens all afternoon in the garden. They have a superb selection of drinks and the food is both speedy and spot on!! I’m definitely coming back here whenever I can.

Always visit here for drinks and follow on Facebook when visiting sandwich so no change on coronation weekend especially as they advertised they had it on TV in the bar Wife was interested in watching however 3 locals sitting at the bar constantly took the rise out of the whole thing. Bit disrespectful but not as much as the landlord who was joining in with the locals certainly not professional Having put my thoughts on their Facebook page I half expected an apology not to be banned from their page It was all made worse the following day when we popped in for the lady to inform the landlord in his ear we were obviously the ones who wrote the comment Reception was more frosty than freezer with no temperature control Wonder if we will be allowed back in never know may get an apolgy

We called in here for Sunday lunch and sat out in the garden. I had the roast beef and my husband the half chicken. On arrival it was more than obvious the half chicken was very overcooked and dry. My roast beef was so tough that I couldn't eat much of it but my dog seemed to like it! The roast potatoes were rock hard too. Considering we ordered around 12.30, it wasn't as if this would be the last "dregs" of lunch. We expected it all to be freshly cooked. We did wait for someone to come and ask how our meal was and we would have told them and given them a chance to rectify the problems. That's OK we'll tell them when they ask us on our way out...................they didn't ask. The staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves. A shame but we won't be returning, even if our dog was well fed!

We were a party of 6 adults and a toddler looking for a light lunch. There were plenty tables of suitable size. The barman was welcoming and the lunch menu had enough options to cover most tastes. I had a chunky BLT sandwich with chips, nicely done and presented and the chips were nice and crispy. Service was friendly and the staff checked that we were happy. The price was very reasonable and the quality good so no hesitation in recommending.

Visiting Sandwich and wanting to eat we checked the reviews for this pleasant looking pub with a beer garden. All looked fine - but it didn’t start well. The beer garden was closed and they only had 2 fish between the 4 of us. We had ordered our drinks so we decided to stay. The food arrived, pleasant service but sadly the one fish had no fish in the batter to speak off, the other fish was over cooked and the two steak pies would not have been served up by a bad chip shop. How any chef worth the title allowed those meals out of the kitchen is a mystery. Reluctantly we paid for 3 of the meals so as not to upset the waitress, but felt cheated.

I’ve visited this pub twice.......,the first time was a Friday evening and we really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of this new ownership and was looking forward to this pub being our new local. Went again the following Friday at lunchtime and called in advance to book a table in the garden for my brothers birthday. On arrival, there was only one very young girl behind the bar serving a customer, so we waited (with our masks on) to get instruction on whether we find our reserved table outside or have to wait to be seated, we were then spoken to with attitude by the young girl who snapped at us, that we couldn’t stand at the bar to be served we should go and sit down. I responded apologetically and said that we’d booked a table in the garden and wanted to ask if we could go through. She lead us out and there were no reserved seating, so we picked a table. After a while our orders were taken, there were three of us and the only food on the menu was a sharing cheese board. Which sounded nice for lunch, so ordered that, wasn’t told a price but thought it’s lunchtime it should be ok. A sharing cheese platter, a bottle of house white wine, a shandy and lemonade came to £52. There was a bit of confusion when the sharing platter was brought out, as another couple on the table behind us, had ordered one also and it had not arrived. The size of our platter was not as we expected for three people, so we thought perhaps, our platter has been mixed up with the platter for two people. It definitely was not worth the money paid snd I was really disappointed. We were going to question it when a member of staff came back out to the garden, but unfortunately about 16 teenagers arrived in the garden, moved their picnic benches together to all sit together and The bar girl with a slight attitude towards us, then had a bigger attitude, so we left it. As we walked out of the garden, some postal workers arrived, who no doubt had worked hard all week for Royal Mail and all the teenyboppers could do, was shout out ‘Postman Pat’ and snigger. So for me........going to The Red Cow in the daytime has been ruled out, I’m not interested in a local that consists mainly of School kids (of legal age). I might pop in again one evening to give this pub the benefit of my doubt. I hope I am greeted with less attitude and less teenagers. Such a shame as I am a local in Sandwich.

My wife and I were in Sandwich for my Brother's Birthday celebrations. My Sister-in-Law had booked the Red Cow for our Sunday lunch. Three courses were available but we decided to skip the starter, just as well when we saw the portions served for the main course. I opted for the roast beef and all the trimmings, and what trimmings they were. Roast potatoes and eight, yes I mean eight, other vegetables. There was a generous portion of meat which was tender, lean and cooked to perfection. Only my wife could manage a desert which she said was delicious. I could find no fault with this dining experience and will certainly eat there again when returning to that part of the world.

We have visited the red cow 5 times now for lunch and dinner, (voting with our feet) on our first dinner visit I went for the Cottage Pie, it was a toss up between this and the Steak and Stilton Pie which was on special, it was a picture when it came up so I did a plate shot and sent it to friends, big jug of gravy and plenty of veg, the pie did not disappoint, full of meat and topped with creamy mashed potato and extra melted cheddar (optional), the plate shot worked and our friends asked us to join them for the Sunday roast, so we booked for the following sunday, the service was great and we were offered the option of the special within the Sunday lunch menu, Great! So I went for that Steak and Stilton Pie that I had been thinking about since my last visit, Large chunks of tender steak in a beautiful stilton sauce.. Fantastic! Our friends roasts looked great too (large Portions) lashings of gravy Yorkshire puddings and veg piled high, exactly how a traditional pub roast should be, in our next visit (evening midweek) we took more friends who wanted to eat out, this time I had the Smoked Salmon starter which was a really good quality salmon, a cut above the usual supermarket types, and for the main, Pie of course, this time I had the Chicken and bacon, the same beautiful pastry as before with big chunks of chicken and a rich creamy sauce, my friend had the Lamb Shank in red wine sauce which looked and smelt fantastic (I'm having that next time) on his recommendation, good hearty food in a traditional English pub with a fine selection of ales what more could you want on a cold winters day? (Friendly service and an open fire) they had that too!

We were also put off by the over priced basic lunchtime pub grub . £9.90 for a burger !! Really ? At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when out on the rob ! The beer garden also could do with some TLC .I had,nt been to this pub for several years but had previously always enjoyed my experiences there ,hence my visit today .What a shame that we were so disappointed and strongly think that with the strong list of competing pubs in Sandwich , that the Red Cow really needs to up it,s game and be more competitive and have basic drinks stocks available when requested by Joe Public. And finally ....... I finish on one positive point ,which is that they supply daily national newspapers to read whilst visiting there .

Good choice of beers but the quality of food was poor. We visited at a busy time so expected the service to be slow but the waitress made a mistake with the order and tried to blame the kitchen staff. I wouldn't go back.

Just popped in for a drink and surprised to find Boltmaker rather than Landlord which everyone thinks is all that Timothy Taylors' do.Attractive pub in an attractive town.

Not sure a pub should be campaigning during an election. The large poster for UKIP on the gate of the beer garden told me that people like me are not welcome here.

We love the welcome we receive in The Red Cow from Nina and Bas. They always remember us even though we only visit for a few days every six months when we are in sandwich. The pub atmosphere is great, the food is fab and there is a lovely garden to sit in when the sun is shining. Highly recommended.

One of the best Sunday meals around, compliments to the chef (CoCo) your roast potatoes were second to none! just like the rest of our meals, which we all enjoyed! great choice and quality with service to match, served by Gemma. Thank you, to all concerned, looking forward to our return, which I am sure will be in the near future.Louis, Maureen, Mick & Brenda

Only went in for drink as I heard there were new people running it. Not a great selection of real ales when I went but the beer I had was well kept. Good amount of people at the bar for a change. I sat in the dining area therefore, now why flowers are on the tables I don't know because it just attracts midges and flies, one midge landed on the rim of my glass. I then left the establishment. Enough said.

Nice surroundings, not overcrowded, good service. Had roast beef with all the trimmings. Beef was beautifully pink and tender, crispy roasties, 7 different veggies all nicely cooked and crispy yorkshire pudds and gravy. Excellent, def recommend the quaint old English pub restaurant.

Four of us turned up at the red cow sandwich today without booking. The staff were great and fitted us in for lunch. We were turned away from another pub which is fair enough as we didn't book, but I'm so glad we were. The service was good, all the staff polite and the food was amazing. We all had roast dinners, I had roast pork and it was one of the nicest meals I've had. There was plenty of food and we all left full. I couldn't fault anything. The roast potatoes were superb. I will def go back but will book next time. Thanks guys

my friend said when she came back to the table. Yes, a lot of refurbishment has been going on lately, which is nice to see. Hopefully, the dining chairs will be re-covered, too.The Sunday roast was very tasty and the young waitress amazingly professional. Well done to her! After several awful visits, we have been avoiding this place, but we will certainly be returning in the not-too-distant future.

Nice outside atmosphere, lots of high pitched children running around though as it is a family pub, the lemonade was flat and wasn't up to standard, and the staff were rather standoffish. However I have had good lemonade here before.

A lovely and friendly country pub. We were lucky enough to visit on an evening where a band was playing which was great. We pre ordered a grazing box which went down well with the selection of gins on offer from the bar.

Nice spot for a costa. Could have been better closer to the beach, however coffee is what you'd expect. Food is often let out for to long, other then this, no problems.

It's was clean and tidy. Staff very polite. Prices on the other hand, not good. £4.80 for a can of orange and a bottle of water. Very expensive.

Jamaican street food at amazing prices. Ruby, the barmaid offered a great welcome and was on hand to iffer advice about the awesome food. The chef's were receptive to food intolerance issues and a coctail, two starters and two mains came in at around £50. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
