Tried Red Chillies for the first time and it definitely won’t be the last! We ordered the Peri Peri Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag Aloo, Onion Bhajis, and a couple of Naans—and everything was absolutely spot on. The flavors were bold and authentic, with just the right level of spice. The Peri Peri Jalfrezi had a great kick, while the Chicken Tikka Masala was rich, creamy, and comforting. The Sag Aloo was perfectly seasoned, and the Onion Bhajis were crispy and full of flavor. The Naans were soft, warm, and a perfect side to scoop everything up. Staff were friendly and the food was ready on time, still piping hot when we got home. For a first visit, I was seriously impressed—this might just become our new go-to for Indian takeaway. Highly recommend!

Edit! 🫡 Thanks for the novel-length tantrum. To clarify: my review was a genuine personal experience, not “fake”—you might want to Google what feedback means in hospitality. I’ve worked in it for over 20 years and have never seen a business respond like a sulking child on the schoolyard. I’m currently travelling from Australasia, where we don’t drown food in juice and do expect a basic level of professionalism from a kitchen. Yes, your menu says “Mild, sweet and creamy,” not “saturated in sugar.” I may have missed “sweet,” but you clearly missed “coconut” in your own listing — and perhaps the ground nuts, ginger, spices. Oh! And, of course, the side of mint sauce! Your bizarre obsession with me being a “first-time customer” is telling—is that supposed to justify your food? Do you think this kind of rant would encourage a return? A new customer? After I placed my order, you told me 20 minutes. I asked if 30 would be better for your (slammed) kitchen. You agreed. Also—the reviews with matching surnames? Subtle! A business mocking someone’s budget! Wow! I’m travelling, so clearly the budget exists—but noted: this is a place that judges its customers and responds to critique with ego, not care. No need to “sort out another curry.” 90% of it went to the bin. And after this behaviour? I wouldn’t trust a meal made here again. Cheers xx Original: Possibly the worst Indian food I’ve ever not eaten. The Butter Chicken and Chicken Korma were almost identical—the same sickeningly sweet, fruit syrup sauce with one extra ingredient tossed in to try and pass them off as different dishes. Zero nuts in the Korma sauce, not even the slightest flavour. Both were swimming in a thick, blended sauce overloaded with shredded coconut, which not only ruined the flavour but is also dangerous for my partner with a coconut allergy, leaving her unable to eat that night. The Naan, again, inedible. Rock hard and had clearly been sitting there all night. Left as abandoned on the side of the plate. To top it off, I asked for mint sauce and was sent another offensively sweet mango concoction that only made everything worse. It’s honestly shocking how little care seems to have gone into the food—flavourless, lazy, and completely off the mark for anyone expecting even a passable Indian meal. Never again. This restaurant has to buy reviews, because this can only be explained as the worst Indian I’ve had in my life—or we were given the absolute most incorrect dishes. I truly don’t understand what we were served, I’ve never had anything like it in my life. A waste of money.

I don't rush to criticiise any businness, but I'd heard so many positive comments about Red Chillies, that we were left dissappointed. The Dahl was lovely, but a vegetable madras had the standard basic ingredients of potato & carrot & was no better than any other takeaway. I noted that " the finest ingredients " are included for some additional cost. I phoned to see if more than root veg should have been included & the guy couldn't have cared less.

Lovely! They’re so nice and friendly, excellent quick service, delicious fresh food. I had the chilli paneer as a main and it was great, the paneer is really good quality too. Prices are so good! Sides are really quite big and mains all come with rice, a popadom and onion salad - really generous and great value especially for these days. 10/10 experience.

We absolutely love Red Chillies, ever since our daughter introduced us to them last year, we have never been disappointed. We are always made to feel very welcome & the open kitchen is always spotlessly clean, even when it’s busy, they’re constantly wiping the sides down. They use a tandoori oven to make my favourite dish, chicken shashlik but we also love the wide range of veggie sides they do. I can’t wait to try their new branch in Woudingdean, Green Chillies.

We have had a take away from here some time ago which is why we came back. However the food we got last night was tasteless and frankly the worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten. They were very busy getting orders together and it all looked well organised but the quality of the food was so poor - the tarka dal was watery, the fish dish consisted of pieces of battered fish in a sauce, meaning soggy batter in a bland sauce. I could go on … Guys I know you’re busy which is great but you need to quality control or that won’t last

We met the owner Siaad outside their new business opening soon in Woodingdean . He is such a lovely guy so friendly. He said their new branch was opening within the next couple of weeks but we were welcome to try their already well established take away on Preston Drove. Last night we did exactly that & we were definitely not disappointed!! We ordered starters , 3 mains, 2 sides rice & naan. All dishes were so flavoursome. My husband said it was the best Jalfrezi he's ever had. The chicken korma melted in your mouth and my sister who is vegetarian tried the paneer dish with lime which she said was amazing. Ash (the son) took our order and him & his dad were so pleased we came over to their other shop they gave us some extra poppadoms & pickles which was so kind and also a lollypop for our 7 year old daughter. The kitchen is open & you can watch the chefs at work. The Woodingdean take away will be exactly the same as will the menu. We are so delighted to have this new business opening near us. Look forward to seeing you soon regards Trish David & Amelia.x

Walking past at 5.30pm, on a random midweek evening, realised that it might be the only Indian takeaway place within a ten minute walk that I've never been a customer of. Spur of the moment, impulse decision, decided to change that. Extensive menu in the window, and inside is a counter behind which is a nice looking open kitchen, all solid commercial burners, ovens and warming cabinets. I ordered a Chicken Dhansak (rice included), Sag Paneer and Onion bajhee, total cost was £18.80, which for a takeaway/delivery joint was a couple of quid more than I expected. The rice came out of a hot cabinet, normal practice on a Friday night i imagine but since I was probably the days first punter, I don't know when it went in there or how long it had been in there. Curry was really tasty, hot, thick dhansak sauce, just how I like it, enjoyed it immensely. The two sides were a bit disappointing, sadly. The (boss) chef obviously knows his stuff and without doubt carries the business. Although I felt something was lacking, that curry was good enough for me to try again, maybe a later time on a different day next time. I've had better, I've had worse, but l'm convinced that I should be back another day.

We now use this as our Indian takeaway. The place is really clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. We order the classic dishes which come with rice, popadom and usually some water melon and onion salad. We have starters which usually consists of onion bhajees, samosas, mixed tikka or reshmi kebab all of which are really tasty. Sometimes we order a bread of some description but to be honest the main dishes, of which there are many, are very generous in portion size. They will deliver free on orders over £12 but as we're quite local we order by phone then go and pick up the food. I can thoroughly recommend Red Chillies.

We have regular takeaways from here as we love the Achari Paneer Shashlick, especially when it has enuogh of the chilli pickle in it (sometimes its a bit lacking). The other dishes are average, but consistantly ok. I do wonder why we always have so many plastic bags of a small amount of onions and salad? We never get through that amount anyway and why not just put it in one bag and save plastic?

The Red Chillies Indian takeaway has become a family favourite. Reasonably priced food which includes rice and poppadoms. I like that as it makes it simple to order. Tasty food and speedy delivery. Me and my friends ordered from here last night. We ordered 2 chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. They were both dry and poorly seasoned. One of them had a clump of hair from someone’s head. I even saw one of the workers drop another customer’s naan bread and pick it back up and put it back in the bag. When I complained about the hair, they said to just pick it out. I got the manager and he said the same thing. Disgraceful! Lastly, when I asked for some salt and pepper, they charged me £2. Words cannot describe how awful this takeaway restaurant was. Please don’t go here.

The Walrus was nice & quiet last weekend, so we ordered some food. I thought the vegan Moving Mountain burger sounded great so that is what i ordered. Service was efficient - everyone is really helpful, but it was very quiet so the staff kept coming to make sure everything was ok. My burger came in a brioche bun & was served with avocado, lettuce, tomato & a side of fries. The burger tasted very strange - it had a really nasty aftertaste. Not sure that the was down to the Walrus or if this is what a Moving Mountain burger actually tastes like? Not a nice flavour at all. Would not order again.
