This department within Foyles has been around for many years & as most jazz fans will know it stocks a great selection of new & second hand cds from the 1920's through to current day. Well worth a browse.

This is where I come when I want to work - the background noise is just at the right level and you have plenty of space to spread out if you get a table.I would not recommend it to meet someone - although the new building is nice and the decor is thought through, it may feel a little impersonal, albeit far better than larger coffee chains.

Just brilliant. Both food and atmosphere. A real oasis located in one of the world's best bookshops. What more could one ask for? Hopefully it can all be transferred successfully to Foyle's new shop when they move next door In June.

If you want atmosphere with low level lighting in a place that feels rustic housed within an otherwise non-rustic bookstore (but I love you Foyles!), this is it.What a find... I wasn't going to bother because I had it in my head it would be like all other bookshops, with some homogenous caff serving sub-standard hot chocolates with tonnes of sugar (there I go again... *smiles*) and nasty, plasticy, commercial biscuits...This place is worth a visit just on its own - the food is fresh and looks *homemade* - I had the coffee& walnut cake and a hot chocolate - if you're a fan of Pauls real hot chocolate, then you'll like this one too, it was lovely and not full of.... yes, you know. If you enjoy people watching you will see a lot of peeps in here on their Apple Mac Airs, or reading books - and then on a bench there might be a group of arty-fartys who aren't really in the business (haha!) - it's great.

I love this cafe. Located in the Foyel's Bookstore, it has very cozy atmosphere, tasty soups, sandwiches and cakes, welcoming hosts. My laptop and I are frequent guest every time I'm in London :D

Ray's Jazz Cafe is without doubt my favorite cafe in the West End of London. It's not just because the coffee is strong and inexpensive and the food wholesome and creative, it's the atmosphere. I've met friends in there, had the odd business meeting, sat and read a book and occasionally played cards. You'll see people on their laptops, writing (some still do), reading scripts, chatting or just gazing down on Charring Cross Road from the bar stools that line the windows. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's in the best bookshop, which is a bonus. You are encouraged to share tables and nobody seems to mind. Oh and of course, there's often some great music playing unobtrusively. What more could you ask for?

Went for a coffee - it was busy but managed to get a seat. Noticed a fantastic selection of healthy foods which were different from the usual franchise cafes. Went back for lunch and wasn't disappointed. Will certainly go again when i next visit London!

Called in for a book or two and had a warming cuppa. Cakes looked good (resisted temptation) and the coffee was strong and good. Friendly staff but really busy and had to share a table.

I previously recommended this as a possible choice for vegans. On my visit this weekend I saw that the menu available in the late morning had changed with the result that I decided to go elsewhere. I am not sure if it is any better for vegans in the afternoons/evenings.

This is a really hidden gem. The drinks are really cheap but nice and there is a large selection of cakes/snacks available that are good quality.

This is everything a bookshop cafe should be! Relaxed, beautiful, and the kind of place you can sit and read, write or drift off into a dream world without feeling under pressure to slurp up and leave. Food was delicious - hard to choose between the range of delicious looking fresh chicken or mozzarella salads, hummus and falafel salad plates, or marvellous and indulgent cakes (and more!). Everything was so fresh and tasty, and the staff were chilled and friendly. Add in good coffee, gorgeous furniture (old church pews!) and jazz in the background, and you have a fab little lunch venue to pause in before heading back to the bookshelves. Prices are great too, leaving you more money for books :-)

We rate it 5* because it met our needs perfectly. It is comfortable and relaxing but definitely not luxuriousWe went in for a quick coffee and were delighted to see a small range of vegetarian food at 10.30 in the morning. We had a (vegan) pitta pocket (£3) which was perfectly balanced in taste and texture. The cafe was quiet and very relaxing. It has imediate access into the marvellous Foyle's bookshop. There is a small area where live jazz is played in the evening. We were so impressed we went back in the afternoon and found that there were a range of meals - including meat and vegan. We chose a bean, leaves, and pasta salad (£5). In most places this type of concoction is sour and thin tasting but this was a marvellous combination of richness and crispness. The cafe was now bursting at the seams, and people were sharing tables. But there was no hurry to leave - people were spending the afternoon with their laptops (guess there is wifi?)One small downside is that the range of coffees is a little limited. And they charge extra for soya instead of milk. All the food is freshly prepared and it shows. And the staff are cheerful

Such a nice spot for brunch, food was amazing and the service was great too. I ordered the fancy bacon bap and a raspberry cooler, refreshing for a hot day. Thank you Matt and Jack for a lovely time :
