Raven's Cliff in North Lanarkshire

I really hoped to enjoy our stay, however a few things let it down. Check in was straightforward enough however the accommodation is in need of attention. The front doors to the accommodation is littered with cigarette ends. Smoking in this area is encouraged with the placement of two bins. Patrons frequently have to walk past people who are smoking, not only into the accommodation but also the restaurant. The vestibule area constantly stinks of smoke. The inner key activated security door does not work ( lock is physically damaged) Having to present the key card three times to get into room is a pain. The room was (117) grubby. The bathroom extractor fan is completly ineffective; 5 min shower and everything is dripping wet. It is also evident that guests have been smoking in rooms with cigarette ends discarded all along the exterior of the hotel. Every morning disturbed at 6am with trades persons stamping about whom seem to be the main proportion of clients. We had one meal in the restaurant, with the expectation of having more. It was mediocre at best, Steak and ale pie was tasteless, microwaved and very litte steak, the portion of gravy was akin to brown water, all in all an expensive portion of chips. On the outside it looks like a nice place to visit and from the promotional material, however on this occasion the experience justified the low cost.

Wonderful place to stay, comfortable and cosy room with amazing staff! I was up from Manchester for a family funeral and stayed from 4th - 7th January. It was the first time I’d stayed somewhere by myself for more than one night and was a bit apprehensive but all of the staff were lovely and I felt very safe despite being on my own. When I checked in online I added a note asking if an iron and ironing board could be in my room when I arrived and it was. It’s only a little thing, but made a real difference to being able to get unpacked and sorted out quickly on arrival. The room, bathroom and linens were all spotless and the staff over in the pub were very helpful and welcoming. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and even though it was -3 outside at times it was cosy and warm inside. I’d 100% recommend staying here and would stay again if I was up again by myself.

Did what it needed, too.. only issues were the window wouldn't close fully, and nobody was on reception until I asked and was told to go into the pub..

Friendly staff clean rooms. Only down fall is the restaurant is dog friendly however the hotel isn’t. Have no facilities for a family if 3 adults you need to book separate rooms showered I couldn’t as my son has special needs he can’t stay himself

Easy friendly staff,checked in at the bar and easily checked out online ,really clean rooms,beautiful Scottish breakfast, and their coffee is great ,and had a brilliant sleep will definitely use the Ravens cliff in the future 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

We went for Xmas family dinner and cost £60 per person. . We also had to pre-order in advance so thought the process would be quite slick particularly as we were reminded that we only had our table for 2 hours. The table was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned properly and had to be asked for to be wiped Served by the most surly female waitress who barked out whatever drinks / dish she had and tossed it down to us whilst looking raging. Had to ask several times for things like cutlery / butter for bread Half table given starters and ended up finishing them because they were going cold before other half received their food. Then we had to wait 1 hour and 45 mins for main to arrive and the turkey dinner was awful. The veg was raw and the turkey dry and overcooked half food uneaten despite being starving. Half table given deserts although not given any cutlery to eat them. 20 mins later waitress came and asked if we were all finished and had to point out that half still hadn’t got their desert. Another 15 mins wait and 3 deserts arrived and all had been thrown together. Xmas pudding was mush and inedible. Cheese plate was just small bits of leftovers thrown on to a dirty plate and not even given a knife. We just walked out almost 3 hours after sitting and left the deserts as they were that bad. One of group spoke to manager who comped the drinks which whilst this was a good gesture it doesn’t take away that we paid £120 per couple for poor food and horrendous service. Most only had one drink and half were soft drinks so only saved about £5. So disappointed that what should have been a lovely family occasion was ruined. One of party spoke to

Clean tidy hotel. Repairs need to be made in room before they should be occupied. Towel rail was broken and hanging off wall above the bath in 216. Toiletries need checked and replenished. Both shower and hand wash both empty. More sugar could me made available in the room. 2 sachets of white sugar for 2 people isn’t enough and as there is no staff in the hotel unable to ask for more (pub was closed so couldn’t go ask them)

Stayed here fora week while working in the area. The staff were friendly, welcoming and a easy smooth check in.

Food was fine, waitresses really lovely and helpful. But the male manager was very rude and seems to struggle to deal with any sort of pressure as per the other comments from diners. Wasn't even that busy as well so not sure what he's stressing about.

Very good value for money in a good sized clean family room. Excellent food selection for the evening meal in the restaurant followed by a superb breakfast. The service from the staff was also brilliant.

Very basic accommodation. Not very welcoming, cold entrance and very bare decor. Restaurant and bar are lovely. Staff very helpful. Breakfast delicious.

We are local, returning customers to the Ravenscliff and have previously recommended the restaurant to family & friends. It seems a change of Management has negatively affected the Service. We arrived on time on a Saturday night expecting a relaxing meal after a long week. We were greeted by the restaurant manager & shown to a table in the far end of the restaurant which was not particularly busy as there were several empty tables. We waited for 10mins & no-one came to our table for drinks, in the meantime another table of customers arrived. After another 10mins we were still waiting. (The waitress looked over at us several times ) Then the waitress proceeded to serve the table that came in after us, we were still left waiting with no service. Feeling frustrated, we checked the availability of another local restaurant as a standby. The waitress looked over at us again & gestured towards us - I guess she was asking us what was up? She then spoke to the Manager who was serving behind the bar who seemed to not have clue about what she was on about from his physical reaction. Then after another 5mins she walked over to us but unfortunately my family and I had had enough by that stage and we had already grabbed our jackets. The waitress did apologise but it was too late. I walked past the Manager shaking my head but again he didn’t seem to care or question what had happened - maybe he had met his quota for the day so didn’t need our booking or money?? Well he has also lost our future business I’m afraid. We won’t be back for a good while now, it’s a shame as we were there pretty regularly with family & friends. Disappointed…

Very good value comfortable beds

We had a family meal out on Sunday. We all loved our food. a few of us had the Sunday roast dinner that was fantastic. My son ordered extra pigs in blankets and he was so glad he did they were so tasty. I had the steak and ale pie that was delicious. Lee Ann our server was lovely and she made us all feel very welcome. Will defo be back

When I got to my room after check in, saw that the bedsheet was stained, I had to ask for it to be changed, further wait of 10 minutes while that was sorted. When I came back to the room I saw the toilet wasn’t cleaned properly and finally when I laid down to rest, the pillow cover smelled of sweat of last nights occupant. I just didn’t have the energy to go back to reception as they were not very pleased at my initial request to change the bedsheet, just a bland “can you wait here while we change it” no “sorry for the inconvenience” no apologies of any sort, as if they were doing me a favour and I should thank them! Also, the room had a hole in the wall!!!

Just home from a lovely visit at Ravens Cliff! Didn’t have a booking and wasn’t expecting it to be as busy as it was on Halloween but Alan (Manager) managed to squeeze us in. We couldn’t believe how busy it was. Service was great and the food was tasty and real quick considering the volume of people dining. Would recommend the Chicken Kebab - delicious!!! Will definitely be back again & bringing the dog next time 😊

Everything good for an overnight stay to break our journey.

The room was comfortable and ideal for a one night stay, and I enjoyed a nice pizza in the restaurant that evening. However, breakfast was advertised to start at 7 am. I arrived promptly at 7 as the first customer, but my order wasn’t taken until 7:10, and the food didn’t arrive until 7:25 only to be served cold. Most people have limited time in the morning, so if breakfast is advertised for 7 am, it should be ready to serve at that time. Although I had a positive experience overall, it's often the last impression that sticks, and I believe you can do better.

Nice motel on the way to Edinburgh Airport. The rooms were clean and modernly furnished. The hotel also has a pub and the staff is friendly. It was more than enough for one night. However, you should arrive by car.

Stayed here for a week with work, hotel was nice. Food was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful. Fantastic service, completely recommend. And love the window of dogs 😁

Nice enough place server nice. Now to the food🤑powdered potato 3 small link sausage frozen peas and watery gravy. Friend did say his small stk and ale pie was ok but am so glad we had 30% off as the price for such poor portions is a disgrace

Our sever, Lee Ann was amazing. Very attentive, excellent interaction, splendid service even though it was busy. Lee Ann made it a very relaxed and comfortable experience.

My visit was made special by our server lee Ann who was not only a great server but a lovely friendly joyous person. The food was fab and well priced but the highlight was Lee Ann great service and attitude.

Family had a great night and enjoyed our meals, there’s plenty of variety to suit most tastebuds. Fantastic friendly service from all but extra special thanks to Lee Ann who was our main server, she’s definitely a credit to your company. 🙂 I’ve been here a few times over the years and it never disappoints, it’s also dog friendly which is a bonus. Highly recommended!

Food was lovely. But we were served by Leeann and she was super nice and wonderful service!! Nothing was a hassle for her and she was very bubbly and pleasant. Made our dinning better!! Thank you Leeann!!

Stayed one night. Room was basic, but that was expected with the price paid. Check in - could have been friendlier. No directions or signage for how to get to room. Was told there was no ‘bar area’ for drinks and had to book a table. Found this strange as it’s a pub.

For the price we paid, the stay was fantastic, by far the cheapest trip. Signage at reception would be cool. Only 2 sugars provided in the room, but we have our own. Fantastic food, 3 courses for dinner, cooked classic breakfast in the morning. Fast, attentive and friendly service.

I was really pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean, tidy and quiet. Checking in and getting settled was a breeze. I had an issue with my door card not letting me into my room and someone from reception came straight over (I had heavy bags and a toddler so couldn’t go to them) with no hesitation and sorted it right out for me. The food was nice, service was friendly and bed was comfy. Very good for the price. Would definitely stay again!

Couldn't accommodate us bad news

Rooms were great and I enjoyed my stay. Food was really nice at the hotel. The hotel was a bit out in the middle of nowhere which is great if you have transport. It is a bit of a walk into the main town with shops or a short drive away. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and modern.

Rooms are OK, if a little dated. Hallway carpets are grubby, dated. Bar/Restaurant are dog friendly, humans are less fortunate. Food was ok, smallish portions and the service was slightly below average. There is table service but you have to chase it. The QR ordering option didn't work. Very limited options in the bar, which closes at 09:30 pm, Restaurant closes even earlier.

Served by Lee Ann tonight 25/6/24 to me and my family of 5 and really appreciated her service and hospitality. I believe it’s all too easy to make a complaint and write a review of how bad things can be, however I cannot fault this lady from the moment we walked in, till the moment we left. She politely ( not forced ) asked if we would like a drink or another drink if we ran low. Although we waited 6 minutes to be seated initially, she was the first person over to us to offer an apology for leaving us waiting ( even although we had booked a table in advance). We never made an issue of this as the service from Lee Ann was exceptional. Thank you.

lovely place to come for a light lunch and few drinks was busy and the staff couldn't be any nicer so friendly staff will certainly be back for meals.

Stayed in the hotel, room was freezing cold due to a window being left open. Heating was unable to heat the room so ended up being in there with my coat on. Room was dirty including having a dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Went for breakfast and seated then informed that they would be back to take my cooked food order. After 20mins I got up and left without being asked for my order.

We had travelled from the Midlands in England to visit family in Hamilton and your Pub is one of the few that is dog friendly in the area. We found the staff to be professional and approachable as well as the location being clean and tidy, providing good quality, food and service . (Between 18th April - 21st April 2024).

Just had a meal wouldn't recommend nothing home cooked fish was very greasy wouldn't go back 😫

Disappointing. Brake brothers food microwaved ......cheek to charge what they do. Won't be back. Staff were nice enough although the manager put through a £50 gratuity which was OBVIOUSLY a mistake . Had to take that back in cash.

Popped in after dropping children off at Ravenscraigh, easy walking distance from RCraig with my dog. The pub really is dog friendly initially popped in for a drink but decided to try the food. It was steak night so treated myself- result great steak and sides Staff friendly and great dog corner set up. Will definitely be going again whilst winter training ar RCraig.

I really enjoy being here. I come here often for work and always feel very comfortable. Very good WiFi. Unfortunately it's not a given. Rooms fit, you can eat nice and taste a pint or two right next door. Always my pleasure

Visiting from Wales and highly recommend Ravens Cliff. Amazing service from all staff especially Gayle who had our son in stitches. Great food and desserts that were worth the calories.

Hotel a little tired looking in places, but for the price couldn't fault it. Great night sleep. Don't pre-book breakfast, we got ripped off. Paid for 3 full breakfasts but seeing as they didn't start serving hot food until 9.30 we had to leave without. Continental breakfast very poor choice.

Not great at all, some staff were better than others. Starters plates not cleared from our table as we ate pur mains. Food very average and cold. We will mot be back

Good local place for something to eat and drink.

Yet another visit to my favourite place! Some new faces we haven't seen before but yet again absolutely fantastic service and food was delicious! 30% off mains up until Feb too is a huge bonus when we're all skint in January!

Brilliant value, very convenient location for Motherwell.

I regularly work away from home and the RavensCliff Glasgow is now my first choice of place to go. Not only is it extremely reasonably priced, it’s clean & quiet. I always eat at the pub next door and staff are friendly and polite and the food is great. I never feel apprehensive travelling as a solo female here. The biscuits in the room is always an added bonus and treat.

The service was abysmal, waited 25 minutes for a terrible sundae when there was 7 tables in the restaurant, the turkey was cold and dry the mashed potatoes looked like they had been kept hot for about 4/5 hours all in all a terrible experience

Happy new year hope it was better than last year!!We turned up at 1.00pm to have a few drinks before the pantomime at ravens cliff and were soaked through to the skin water dripping off us and went into the building to be greeted to Do You Have A reservation in a very cheeky and abrrup manner.A welcome first would be good but this chap clearly was having a bad day so then he says without a booking your no coming in to answer his comments i say were only looking for a few drinks doesn't matter your no coming in to which point bar staff 6 in total start sniggering as claerly this guy on the meet and greet gets all the laughs thinks it cool to belittle guests well your not on absolute disgrace i told him dont worry you will never see me and my family again.I felt so strongly about this that i think guests have the right to be treated as people and not something on ones shoe!!

This is the second time that we have been to Raven's Cliff Restaurant for our family Christmas lunch. The amount of food was way more than enough, quality was excellent and tasted really really good. However the best part of day was our server Gail ( apparently also known as the crazy cat lady). Gail was really bubbly and attentive enough without being in your face too much. It is the first time that we had a problem giving a tip as the server felt that it was way too much.

Had loght lunch. Very good. Staff were very efficient and friendly.

Went for the festive lunch the desserts were divine in particular the praline tart and the sticky toffee pudding Grreat service

The Raven's Cliff is a great discovery, a friendly local place to eat and drink and dog friendly too. They even have a doggie menu and our dog loves to come here. Special thanks to Gail for being so kind to our pooch. For humans, the pizzas are recommended!

Food was amazing, great atmosphere and very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to make our dinner a great experience. Even spoke with the head chef while he made our pizzas.

Gabby and Lisa very friendly and alway had a smile on their face would alway help out. I couldn’t have ask for better people behind a bar and making us feel we was at home.

Always fantastic. We take our wee dog as its amazingly friendly. They have water station with doggie biscuits and blankets. Amanda served us today. Sooo nice and friendly. The burger was awesome and the burger sauce mmmmmm....we love Ravens cliff.

It is a great place to have a good meal with your friends and colleagues as the hotel is right across. The food was also very nice and the staff were great.

I arrived to be greeted by the beautiful Leeann who escorted me to my seat and handed me a pristine new menu ! No fingerprints anywhere The place overall was very clean and the staff looked immaculate. Leeann looked after us the whole time making...

When we checked in at the pub, a member of staff called David was extremely friendly and polite. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we really appreciated the tea, coffee, biscuits etc

It's a bit overrated in the food department. I only go if part of a group that has chosen this place.
