Toby Carvery in North Lanarkshire

Booked here on way to Lanark and will definitely be using here again and again, perfect place just off the motorway Stayed here last week and again last night and couldn’t fault it one bit, Rooms on both occasions were fantastic. Ate in restaurant and had carvery both times and it was delicious. Breakfast was exceptional, plenty to choose from. Staff were all attentive, Joanna served us last week we found her to be extremely pleasant and cheery, nothing was a bother. Chloe served us this week and was full of enthusiasm, what a lovely young lassie who goes above and beyond to greet her guests. Thank you for a pleasant stay, we will return in a few weeks.

Great for the money! We are both veggies have never been here before. Our server Chloe was really welcoming and made us feel at home.

Used Groupon for a second time. First time it was great. Staff were lovely, didn’t feel like we were the “grouponers”, not treated differently. So went back a 2nd time. That was a mistake. We were not given a menu. From one member of staff when we entered we were Told we were only allowed a carvery and a dessert. Kids were only allowed 2 sausages from the carvery or macaroni from it. As soon as we asked about the menu the server got really loud about us having vouchers and told us all this nonsense. We drove 1hr and 20min to go there. We were hungry so had no energy to question this further. Then the food, goodness me, it was awful! The mash tatties had not seen a real potato in the whole making of the watery sludge. Peas and carrots were the highlight. All my wee one could eat because the macaroni was like vomit and smelled sickly. The dessert was the usual shop bought microwaved desserts in any pub type grub but for people who don’t eat sweet and prefer a starter we ate it since I had no choices! Funny thing is we asked a different staff for a drink n asked to actually see a menu he gave us options of starters and desserts. Unbeknownst to him we had already been forced to “eat” carvery. The gravy which is the big thing there was grainy and lumpy, definitely throwing food out that day and there were plenty empty seats. I do not recommend this place any more. I prepaid food I was not looking for feee meals and in total honesty would not have paid what I did even with the whole couple pound discount. They don’t even give us the advertised blue light discount either when I’m nursing staff. Never again

We came for the Sunday Roast Carvery. The waitress who seen to us was wonderful she was attentive, smiley and positive. The food however was not up to scratch. One chef carving the meat on his own, there was lines at 12:15pm which could have been managed better. The meat itself was cooked well but the vegetables were over cooked , dry and the roasties were burnt. It just didn’t feel as fresh as what it should be. Green beans were soggy , carrots were soggy - yorkshires were amazing !!

Didn't stay in the hotel, just came for the Toby Carvery son5 stats for the 'rooms' by default. Served by Chloè in the restaurant and she was fab. Give her a huge raise. Super friendly! Food was awesome, I'm used to the toby carverys in England and this one didn't disappoint. Meats are 10/10, veg is great, gravy is 10/10. Thanks Chloe!

Chloe was exceptional. She is a shining star in a dying universe that lightens the path to a brighter future. My future daughter will be called Chloe in her memory.

Shocking bone idle lazy good for nothing staff, incompetence doesn’t even cover these people, honestly the area manager should review this place and resign out of embarrassment. The food was a dried out mess the staff all moaning about the other staff and no one willing to serve the customers. The only one that did his job and was pleasant was the microwave technician ( chef ) who was polite and friendly. So if you have to stay away for work go to the holiday inn express across the road. Won’t stay here again you’d get a better welcome in Gaza. Walls are paper thin and the other guest can’t seem to walk about with stamping their feet and banging doors with faulty door closers ( recently refurbished apparently) housekeeping are great though thank you!!

Great wee place for a cavery, good size portions pleasant staff and certaintly most helpful.

On our way back to our holiday park, fancied a carvery & came to this one it had sweetcorn! One of my favourite vegetables as they don’t serve this back home followed by home made jam sponge & custard it was well worth it staff very friendly

Visited here for 2 nights in February and it was ok, apart from no radiator working in the bathroom, which after a hot shower isn't good, especially in winter. Reported it and was told it would be fixed by the time we got back from visiting family. After returning we asked if the problem was solved and the blonde female manager was extremely abrupt and said "I don't know anything about it" Therefore serious lack of communication on switch over of staff and was told it would be fixed the next day. Again went out and returned to same problem with a disgusting attitude from the male manager, saying it's a fuse can't fix it, due to caretaker not available. Seriously no caretaker is very lacking in professional service. Couple of other staff rude as well. The only genuine person there, who knew so much more about management than management, was a brilliant young lad called JAMIE. Outstanding attitude,professionally knowledgeable and really is an asset to this place, he really is management material. Thank you Jamie. As for the management that weekend, take a look at your disgusting attitude to guests and maybe take more courses,be more like Jamie

Carvery was amazing never seen Yorkshire puddings this big, food delicious and family friendly, service was great 👍

Terrible service its like school dinners go to red burn farm its far better .we arrived lined up as per there was 5 people behind the line serving then all at once they left to do just eat orders and didn't return for 15 mins by that time the que was 100 miles long no idea why all 5 if them had to go but that was enough for us won't be back

I found it a tad warm in the restaurant which led to me not enjoying the meal as much. The food itself was great miss tobys closer to me and travelled just for the carvery. If I had to pick something to improve the food sitting under the hot lamp dries out and had a few rather chewy sides but I expect that. But all in all was exactly what me and my Mrs expected and will be back

Chloe was an amazing server, made everything so easy and enjoyable. Food was lovely, attentive staff was the standout for me though.

Only thing I would say was that the water in the toilets were too hot and steam was coming out the tap. Our friends child burnt her hand.The food and service was great and highly recommended.

Carvery was fantastic, good value. Drinks overpriced only complaint, nearly £3 for bottled still water.

Was visiting in the local North Lanarkshire area, up from York where we live. Had a lovely Sunday carvery. Plenty of fresh options, nice and hot, and great to have unlimited soft drinks. So grateful to staff member Karalyn who was really friendly and welcoming on arrival. It is so nice to get a genuine smile from staff who genuinely show an interest in you as a customer. So rare to get this level of customer service these days but Karalyn was really spot on and a huge asset to your team. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Despite the website saying there was vegan options, when we got there we were told that what they had in wasn’t actually vegan? When the vegan member of our party decided to just get vegetables the people in front of us used the same spoons/tongs for the non vegan & dairy items as the veg so even that was contaminated. Despite this our server was lovely and really tried her best to accommodate our needs but the lack of vegan options was out of her control.

Went for lunch with my mum and sister. Was lovely, but the queue for the carvery was just too long and slow.

Recently I had a breakdown which lead me to stop in the car park as it was a safe place to do so while I waited for the aa to get me, (I did go into the restaurant and the staff were kind but I didn't get told about the parking situation). Now after having to pay to get my car fixed I'm having to pay for another thing that shouldn't be in place

Food was lovely, but every time I've been to this one I'm waiting over 30 minutes to get food. Waiting staff are standing about and kitchen staff are singing, feels like the colleague serving meat was the only one working. Would rather travel to Bathgate for quicker service

Hugely appreciate their assistance and as noted below the service was fabulous and kind team I just suggest maybe mentioning the car park 🅿️ situation when ordering or a sign on the tables to prevent such things I am so mad 😡 I cannot believe I am being charged £100 for parking at a Toby Carvery. Apparently the car park is private even though it’s the one for the restaurant and you have to type in a car registration number on arrival which I didn’t not notice!! I spent my last £16 buying my son food on a trip back from Edinburgh as he was full of fever and couldn’t sit in his car seat and needed a break. And now I have to find £100 to pay the fine! I’ve sent an email explaining my situation and it got refused and they want £60 in the next 14 days!! so angry!! why have a restaurant with a private europarks car park ?!?! Shouldn’t the waitresses tell you when you order food you have to do this! Not everyone sees or reads signs when they have never had to do this type of action before and was carrying a sick child 😭😭😭 aside from that the staff were so kind and helpful with my son I just wish they had signs on the tables or made it practice to tell everyone that says there. This is a huge blow in finances. I only ordered a tiny bowl of pigs in blankets as I was so tight for cash and then I have to now find £100! Makes no sense

Went for cheeky carvery with my friend and the queue was really long. Only one chef serving ran out of Gammon as was so busy. Kitchen staff were partying very loudly in the kitchen. Had to ask for gravy as was getting refilled. Asked server for water and he went away and never came back was too busy talking to other staff member. The food was tasty,staff service needed a lot of improvement. Disappointed on this visit.

Waited ages for drinks at the table. Food from the carvery a bit like school dinner. Won't rush back.

I love it there the staff are wonderful it's become like a second home but the card thing needs to be sorted it keeps losing its charge even though it's miles away from my phone I can't get into the side door or my room and when it's late at night it's a bit scary

Typical enjoyable carvery for the family. The only downside was that it seemed that the turkey was neàrly finished and two of the family only had turkey, found it hard and couldn't eat it.Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful.

Was on a long drive home and popped in for something tasty to eat, got the carvery (Yorkshire pudding was about 2 days old it was like eating a cold bit of toast) the roast potatoes had the life boiled out of them and had probably been on the hot plate longer than the toast the stuffing resembled dried porridge at this point started dreaming of the half eaten bag of crisps in the glove box having said that staff were very helpful maybe just came at wrong time

We hadn't eaten here since pre-Covid. Last time there was only one roast left at 7.30pm! Last night, we decided to try again, booked earlier at 7pm, and guess what, two roasts finished just as we got to the counter! We had to wait 10 mins. before only one was replaced, the other wasn't. I had to ask for two portions of turkey to make up the shortfall. At the veg. trays there were only enough peas for one small spoonful left, and there was no cranberry sauce. I seem to recall there used to be four or five choices of gravy. Last night there were two, and one of those was vegan. The food didn't disappoint, and our waitress was very friendly and helpful, but compared to a local Indian buffet where staff were continually checking, stirring and topping up the contents I'm afraid the carvery was a bit let down in that aspect. To rub it in, I read one of the leaflets and it stated you'll always be guaranteed three of our roasts!

Dropped in for a bit of dinner on the way home. Server Michelle was lovely and welcoming, explained how it works at the carvery. Food was delicious. And it's only an hour up to read from home.

Food was horrible, cold and beef roast was hard impossible to chew. If I could I wouldn’t even give a star. I was not given cutlery or napkins. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all.

We go here regularly. Food is always great and portions are huge. Free parking on site and loads of seating available. Just wish you would top up your Apple sauce and Cranberry sauce more often because it always runs out! 😅

This has to be the worst Toby in the country 20 people wueing for food for over 15 minutes with no visible staff all I. The kitchen joking and laughing whike paying customers are kept waiting for food thst is just sitting on hotplates drying up . Walked out ,it was pathetic woukd never ever go here again even if I was starving and they was feeding me for free

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Toby Carvery, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by Michelle, who provided exceptional service throughout the meal. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a delightful dining experience. As for the meal itself, every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The carvery station offered a mouthwatering selection of meats, cooked to perfection and accompanied by an array of delicious sides. The vegetables were fresh and flavorful, and the Yorkshire puddings were simply divine. Overall, I can't recommend Toby Carvery enough, and I'm especially grateful to Michelle for making my visit truly memorable.

My one star is for Will the waiter who is an absoloute star. I was furious at the service we received but when i told Will about this his response was outstanding (Will for manager). We waited in the queue for 10 minutes (fair enough, it's a carvery) but when we got to our turn one of the chefs said "you'll have to wait 5 minutes while we get these Just Eat orders done". We stood there while all 4 chefs behind the station were working on boxing up delivery/click and collect orders because customers that actually visit the restaurant and buy drinks and sometimes even a pudding dont matter as much apparently. Has nobody thought of having specific staff that work on delivery/click and collect orders because i shan't be visiting again and neither will the people in the queue that had formed behind me while all 4 chefs were making it clear that visiting customers are nothing but an inconvenience to them. I'll visit again if i open my own restaurant, to poach Will.... he's far too good for this place.

I was in for a meal and I enquired about a take away also. The waiter said yes I can add that to your order and you go and collect it. Having finished our meal we went to the take away sign and was told we had to stand in the long queue to wait to get our take away. This was from the person at front entrance who I assume is the manager. I then heard him saying to customers coming in that they only have a small amount of meat left, I enquired if we need to stand and wait as we have already paid for the meal. I was told yes you do. This is appalling that a take away customer has to stand and wait in the queue to select which food they want but if I was a take away from the app I wouldn’t, why is there a difference. I then stood for 25 mins in a queue to then be told they didn’t have the meat that I had already paid in advance for. Surely this is incorrect. I am absolutely disgusted that I was made to wait after already paying for the take away service

Great lunch. Loved the roast beef and pork with a good selection of veg and the perfect Toby gravy. Michelle kept us right with what was available and made sure everything was perfect. It was.

Came here for a Sunday meal with my two young kids and partner, food was ok but did find two hairs in my daughters food, was sitting close to the bar and over heard two bar tenders swearing, some very nice waitresses but others really want to learn where they can use there shocking language! Definitely won’t be back!

Had a great carvery meal and dessert here. Food was fresh, hot, and very tasty. However the star of the show was our server Joanne. Joanne was very attentive, helped us to celebrate a birthday by bringing out a cake and starting a sing-a-long, as well as joining in with jokes and banter at the table. Cannot thank Joanne enough for making a celebration night great.

Really only do a carvery for food, I was expecting a menu of something different too like burgers or lasagne

Met up with friends for lunch. Carvery was lovely, but you can have 3 kinds of meat and as much vegetables as wanted. They don't do different size plates.
