We came for a meal prior to a Lulu concert. The restaurant is very handy for the Glasshouse. We were greated and had a champagne while ordering our excellent meal. Great service, friendly staff and an excellent meal I'm sure we'll be back

Visited on a Wednesday evening and the service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was very pleasant in a very nice setting just off the Tyne Bridge. There is plenty of parking close by, walking distance to Gateshead Metro Station. Walking distance to other good bars such as mircrobus and central for a drink before or after. Food wise, thick curry’s packed with flavour. Food is piping hot and glass window allows a peak into kitchen to see chefs preparing food. Manager added personal touch during visit which was nice whilst taking parents out.

Customer service second to none, well played Alam. Very rarely do i feel refreshed by a warm welcoming gentleman to be made to feel in safe hands, not forced hospitality it was in his nature and rolled of the tongue. All food was delicious and freshly made I could taste the flavours bursting out of the food, wait time wasn't bad either. Had a lovely evening with the Mrs and left with full bellies, will return in the near future. Thanks again, James and jade.

A great brasserie and bar, close to the Glasshouse International Centre for Music (better known by its previous name, Sage Gateshead), and the Hilton Gateshead. Food is good, as is the service. In terms of atmosphere, the brasserie would benefit from a more Indian vibe. The current interior style, along with the background music, suggests more of an English eatery that serves Indian food.

We had an 8pm reservation and got took in at 820, because they had had a lot of people earlier in, i couldnt understand that logic. Anyway we thought the food was just ok, lots of better restaurants around. The place was empty for a Saturday evening and despite this, the food took ages to come, the service was poor, our plates from the popodoms and pickles did not taken away for ages and only after who i presumed was the manager nodded to a waiter to tend to us. They forgot about our naan bread and it arrived cold after we reminded them. They said they would knock it off the bill and when bill arrived it was on, when i challenged it they said they had taken the discretionery service charge off instead. When i challenged that service charge that i dont need to pay, the naan and service charge got taken off. I would not go back there, as i say better Indian restaurants by far nearby.

Had a Just Eat delivery from here, arrived piping hot in speedy time and with friendly driver. Meal was well packaged and tasted delicious. I got a Garlic Nan which smelled lovely and tasted equally dipped in my Goan Fish Curry, the sauce was amazing and there was plenty of fish in the curry. As for the Manjal Chicken Tikka starter i would say it was really nice, could do with some jazzing up tho, i felt it was just a tasty chicken breast that i would have had with a main meal not a starter. Anyways all in all it was tasty and i would recommend the Goan Fish Curry if you like fish and authentic currys.

Lovely room, nice and spacious with tables well apart (good for social distancing). Prices are a bit above your run of the mill Indian, but worth it for the quality of food. Some interesting and novel dishes alongside old favourites. The kitchen is visible through a glass divider so you can see how spotless it is and watch the chefs create. Wine choice was sadly limited, although there is an interesting and separate gin menu instead! Really enjoyed my meal here.

I, unfortunately, ordered via Deliveroo. Rider arrived, restaurant didn't have meal ready, rider waited for some time and then dropped the order. Contacted restaurant after forty five minutes delay who told me they never had a rider (really?) and the food was still waiting there (it was another twenty five minutes after that call until it arrived). Great, so you left my food just waiting there. Suddenly, the line was apparently bad and then the call ended. Finally the phone was switched off. Food itself was alright - aubergine dish, good. Aloo Gobi miles off - you're using the wrong kind of potatoes (come on, taste it - that doesn't seem right to you, surely? Floury and waxy is what you want. Not tough baby potatoes. You don't get the any of the flavour in there and the texture is completely wrong. Poor execution, here and disappointing). I wouldn't order from here again but also wouldn't say no to visiting in person.

The restaurant itself is very nice and all done to a high standard. Service was attentive and friendly. My only feedback was that I felt the prices were too high. The cheapest large bottle of beer (Tiger or Cobra) was £6.95; that's more than I have paid in London. A chicken Korma was £11.95 with a bowl of Pillau rise costing £4.95. It was a good sized portion, but at £16.90 for one meal, I felt it was overpriced. (Again, I've paid less at Indian restaurants in London, where I expect the prices to be higher).

Really great Indian restaurant in Gateshead. I was there two days ago on a first date and it was first class. Very good food, really well made curry. We both had the Tikka Massala and enjoyed it. I wanted peshwari naan but the waiter had a similar naan which was excellent and very similar. Staff are very friendly and have just the right level of attentiveness - not always asking if all is ok but there when needed. We were the only customers on the night we went, must have been early. Very reasonable prices and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended, will be back!

Had an OK meal here tonight. Staff were really pleasant but the restaurant does not live up to what you'd expect given the prices the charge. First issue was with the starters. We ordered the fish and chicken. Chicken was lovely, but the fish was just bland. It was the same fish you'd get from a chip shop. We complained but nothing was done about it. Main courses were OK. Typical for what you'd expect at a mid-range curry house, but not here. After eating with our hands, in the Indian style, we'd expected to have been given towels to clean our hands. They weren't offered. Nor were fennel seeds or anything like that. We got the 10% off from being in the Raval club, but as we'd gone out of our way to go here, and paid for the experience, we expected far more. If you want to be a standard curry house then charge appropriate prices. If we pay for a fine dining experience, then that is what we expect! - Just to say as well, that the atmosphere didn't help. First they were playing a series of uptempo jazz numbers (with drums) which is hardly relaxing let alone Indian. When this ended, it switched to Frank Sinatra. Can you please make a point of searching out some Indian music? For a fine dining experience I'd expect Inidian classical music. For a mid-range, Bollywood tracks. Finally, staff didn't have facemasks on, not even when coming close. Very unimpressed.

This restaurant is amazing. There is a huge range of Indian dishes to choose from but, along with the usual curries, they have a lot of interesting special dishes. I started with crispy fish bites and then had a wonderful king prawn dish. The portions were really generous and the two guys who were doing all of the serving were absolutely fantastic. It's quite a large restaurant but they managed to make sure everybody was looked after. We were staying in Newcastle but it was an easy walk across the Millennium Bridge and then up a slight hill to get to the restaurant.

Have visited this restaurant quite a few times over the years and have always thought the food was excellent but for some reason I didn’t expect the takeaway to be of the same standard. How wrong can one be? Every aspect of this takeaway was exceptional...the freshness and taste of the food, the packaging and the delivery. A tad more expensive than most takeaways but well worth every penny. Both my partner and I agree that it’s easily the best takeaway we have ever eaten. My wife booked this restaurant for a surprise for my birthday. We had been here before some 14 years ago shortly after it opened and we had a great meal then We moved out of the area and returned recently so we were interested to see if things had changed. Well for us it was as it was a classy Indian restaurant serving great food. We were the only couple in as the covid restrictions were in evidence just prior to lock down. Very good service as you would expect, we had a waiter all to ourselves. The menu was very much as it was so my wife was able to have what she remembered all those years ago, lobster starter with mango then a scallop and king prawn curry. I had traditional chicken tikka and a lamb Khari. The food was delicious. It may well appear very expensive for Indian food but we were'nt disappointed. Its popularity I suppose could be gauged by the number of taxis turning up for takeaways. A great night, we will be back. Thanks to the management and staff for making my birthday a night to remember.

We came here last December but I’ve only just got round to writing the review now. We booked a table over the phone and informed them we had a baby so would need a highchair. When we arrived we were shown to the recpetion area. We got some poppadoms but we had to eat them at this coffee table and we had a baby with us so it was difficult as we weren’t able to put her down anywhere (we didn't take the pram in). I’m not sure why we couldn’t have been just shown to our actual table under the circumstances. The food was ok but it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. I liked how you could see into the kitchen and see them preparing food. The staff were friendly. There is parking outside but it isn’t free.

Went with family while visiting. Was told it was really good by my brother in law who has been having takeaways through lock down. He promised I would not be disappointed and it was true to his word.I became partial to fish curry on a trip to Kerala last year so was drawn to the Goan fish curry. Not King fish as in Kerala but beautifully cooked Sea Bass in a wonderful curry sauce full of flavour and with a nice subtle spiciness in the aftertaste. I've been trying to find a fish curry to rival those in Kerala and have sadly been disappointed; until now, truly the best I've had outside India! The rest of the meal was of equal standard and of real interest for those looking for something different from the usual fare. All of our party were delighted with the food and we xan't wait to come again when back in the North East; restrictions permitting of course!

For a one course meal for the 6 of us, we were there for 2 and a half hours!! Not sure why the staff put everyone in the bar area before eating but we had to sit there for nearly half an hour before being taken to a table. We left without ordering and the manager wasn’t bothered at all despite explaining why we were choosing to leave. The mark of a good business is how well it cares for its customers and unfortunately Raval hasn’t given adequate consideration to customers’ health. We chose to give our business to one of the many other restaurants who are taking appropriate steps to protect their customers from Covid.

We, a party of seven, were booked last night for 7.30. After numerous times saying our table was nearly ready, we were finally seated at 8.35. Order was taken and at 9.35 we were still waiting. Having observed two other tables receiving their main courses before us, who had been seated long after us, we decided to abandon a fruitless endeavour and leave. We found the staff extremely helpful but the manager/owner, not so. He, at the very least, should have apologised. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

These hopes were quickly shattered when the £69.95 ‘Royale platter’ came to the table and looked like it had been thrown together. Everything came out at different stages and the nan bread was practically a dessert. After complaining to the manager he tried to pull the wool over our eyes and tell us everything was supposed to come at different times. Like a tasing menu?Terrible service and will not be returning. Only positive was the £10 off per person due to EOTHO.

Great food, as always, in a lovely setting. If you haven’t yet visited the Raval, I suggest you do - you won’t be disappointed

Ate at Ravel’s last night, the food and service was (as ever) fantastic. Sea Bass to start followed by Darjeeling lamb chops - absolutely delicious. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough

Ordered a takeaway for delivery from the website. Said it would arrive between 8 and 8:30. Rang Raval at 8:35. Clearly, they had not taken the order, despite taking payment and having it confirmed. They said the taxi was on the way with the food. It arrived at 9:10. The one redeeming factor was that it tasted good.

Went with my wife and my 10 months old daughter last night after seen good reviews , firstly want to know is that all paid review???Anyway when we went around 8 restaurant was dead it’s just me and my wife have to wait for the table 15 min, like seriously..The whole restaurant was empty.Ordered lamb chops for starters (fully blend) told waiter he said he will let kitchen know, main course we ordered Kashmiri lamb rogan josh and chicken bhoona (recommended by manger) we told him clearly make it spicy as we like spicy food. Both came out like chasni sweet (sugar syrup) told waiter again he took it back and came back after 5 min exactly the same. Very upset with the food after seen so many good reviews .. thinking is that paid one or given by themselves. No one comes to your table to ask how’s the food etc ... every time they coming to table just to clear plates even though you are eating ...Manger not even bother to take feed back or apology for the food , he was busy all evening watching videos on his phone and drinking coffee. Not coming back and won’t recommended to anyone who knows exactly what Indian food is ... Best of luck guys for future !!!!!
