Jamdani in Gateshead

First time here in a few years as now live further away - and it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely fantastic, with friendly service. Lunchtime special is phenomenal value for money too!

Its been many years since I have dinned here but its just how I remembered it. This place is fantastic! Great food amazing presentation, fantastic service and great wine choice. The house red was really good too. I would recommend it to anyone. First class, Great ambiance and Atmosphere. Myself and Father are from the area and we took our Italian half of the family and We loved the experience.

Wow wow wow. Booked a table for birthday but didn't mention it. On the night, we were asked by either the manager or owner (lovely bloke, didn't catch his name!), if we were a birthday and if we had a cake. We didn't, because it was more low-key, and he sorted us out and made sure we had the best time. And we don't even have to talk about the quality of the food, because it was naturally 10/10 amazing. Always heard wonderful things but they truly live up to it!

Had a really poor experience here on New Year's Day evening with a takeaway order. Rang and ordered the food and was told to pick up 45 minutes later. Arrived at Jamdani and after 20 minutes of waiting, an older member of staff took our payment and went off into the kitchen. A younger guy came back with our food and asked for payment. When I explained we had paid already, he refused to accept this and would not check with the older guy to see if payment had been received. His attitude was accusational and clearly thought I was trying to pull a fast one. I was met with a stand-off at his lack of willing to check whether I had paid already, so I was forced to check with my bank statement to show him proof. It turned out that the older guy had taken payment for another order from me. There was no hint of an apology. The mood was very much one of maximising money-intake at the expense of anything resembling customer service. I took my order home without checking it first(my fault, among the chaos), to find rice missing. I've been coming to this place for 35 years, mainly to the restaurant and it deservedly has a very good reputation. I won't be coming back as a takeaway customer.

Thank you to all the amazing team at Jamdani for yet again another beautiful meal with our family this evening over the Christmas period. We love the food and front of house here, it never fails to disappoint. The spicy tarka Dahl is a highlight for me personally, along with lamb chops, Dhansak and tikka main; but all the food is fresh and delicious, and the kitchen is adaptable to make adaptations at request. The service is always warm and welcoming and the team go out of their way to make a special evening every time. Take aways are equally good, all reasonably priced, hot and fresh. What a Fantastic Christmas Meal we had the other night, given recommendation from Mahfuz I had his recommendation instead of the usual that I would normally have, as did my wife, it’s great when the owner knows his customers so well he can recommend a dish that he thinks we would like

Great place for take away of to eat in amazing staff and excellent food

Five of us went for a meal last Tuesday as a couple of friends ( The Gs) were going to New Orleans the next day. Staff as always very friendly and witty and showed us to our our table. We ordered starters drinks and as per usual everything was perfect . Even Mr Grumpy G enjoyed it . Great place give it a try and I think they do a special buffet night in a Tuesday.

Wow what an experience and this was takeaway never mind sitting inside. Very friendly welcoming staff with unique personalities all blending well with each other. Always nice to be greeted with a hand shake. Great menu and all fresh. Tasty ingredients and amazing portions sizes. Value for money 100%. Pathia lamb tikka curry was a taste explosion. The onion naan bread cooked to perfection. Nice textures throughout. Onion bhajis the size of hands. Amazing flavours and free bottle of cobra can’t go wrong.

It's been a while since we visited the Jamdani, but we weren't disappointed. If anything the meal was even better than we remembered. The currys were excellent with plenty of moist chicken and the onion bhajis amazing. The staff were so pleasant and attentive. Cant recommend enough.

It was our first visit and it certainly will not be are last. Staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was a problem. The food was out of this world and the complementary drinks were well appreciated. As it was my birthday I received a bottle of wine and a voucher. Well worth a visit you will not be disappointed

Really nice food, excellent service. It was quite busy when we were there which made it a little noisy in a small room. Very good experience though.

VERY GOOD! Good selection of drinks, large serving of wine, curries were all unreal. Special mention for the lamb bhuna and the lamb Naga chilli special.

Went out today for the lunch special at the jamdani Whickham, on walking in we were greeted by saeed who was very polite and welcoming the place was very clean, my son wasn’t on the best of behaviour saeed and his team were so attentive with him nothing was a trouble they went above and beyond their customer service skills are second to none. The food was absolutely outstanding and reasonably priced will definitely be back.

We visited on Saturday 15th June, this restaurant won restaurant of the year at the national curry awards and you can see why, first of all the service is superb, so friendly and extremely helpful, the decor is nice and restaurant has a nice atmosphere, the food excellent, we ordered poppadoms with pickle tray, mixed kebabs starter, chicken tikka masala twice and chicken Madras with pilau rice and naan, all extremely tasty, really nice touch is the tea light blocks to keep the meal warm, will definitely return and totally recommend

We came here to celebrate a birthday. We visit here often and the whole experience is usually excellent, however tonight it was even better. We were warmly welcomed by Syed, who was accommodating regarding our specific dietary requirements. He clearly explained how the dishes could be prepared to suit our palate, and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was pleasant, the team were friendly, whilst remaining professional.

Syed ensured we were well looked after, we are regular visitors and will continue to attend. The food is top notch quality without the high end price tag and the staff are all super friendly. I would highly recommend the lamb dishes as it's perfectly cooked

Ate dinner here as three couples and were well looked after by Syed and his team as always. Service was attentive and nothing too much trouble. Food was delicious. We all had different starters and mains but everyone commented on the quality and taste of the food. Special mention to Raj whose Baby Guinesses were perfect and rounded off a great evening. Rang up 2 see what time last orders was on a lunch time was told 140 we got 130 after ordering very quickly food came promptly it was absolutely delicious by 150 we were told did we want rest of food 2 go when I asked on phone was told 2 be out by 230 then the waiter said it was after his time so why sit us down then very rushed meal and at 50 pound at a lunch time 2 be told 2 hurry up not impressed

Pleasant curries, nice fluffy Naan. Some effort made with the special dishes. Have been a few times and Jamdani has been very reliable - we haven't had a bad dish.

1st time here with friends who are regulars, very busy but waiter's were quick with the menu and drinks were over in a flash great menu with the standards and a few specialist dishes Couldent fault any of it very tastyxwill definitely be back

Clean efficient and tasty super take away food

Family took us to this gem, the Buffett was just enough, first Popadoms light and crispy, the appetizer board that comes before the buffett is a meal on its own.. we ordered to many Nan.. they are big, you can always order more. The Buffett perfect size 2 rice 4 meat dishes and 2 vegetable.. we left very satisfied and happy. Friendly owner and staff..

Food was ok at most. Lamb chops were meaty but lacking on flavour. Ordered a chicken karahi and it was utterly flavourless, it was like some sort of mush with only 3 small bits of chicken in it.

Absolutely fantastic meal for ten people with excellent service. Good banter with the staff as a couple from our group are regulars. We will certainly be back again. Well Deserving of their recent awards.

IMO and I've tried lots of different Indians the best bar, none. great food and service give them a go you won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing however, I am not sure waiting over 1 hour for mains is acceptable for a usually fab restaurant. We were a party of 9 that arrived at 7pm and eventually got served our mains at 8.30pm ( we only ordered mains and popadoms). I appreciate there were a few large groups in including ourselves but prioritising take away over customers dining in is poor ( or that’s what it seemed like!). The most disappointing thing was there was no communication from the staff to acknowledge the long wait.

Went here with family and friends while on holiday from Western Australia enjoyed the food very much

Quite simply the best Indian restaurant in the North East. Amazing staff, friendly atmosphere and the food is out of this world. We visit fairly regularly and try different things and it's always of the highest quality. But if I can recommend only 1 thing, it's the Lamb Chop starter. Outrageously delicious.

Best Indians in Whickham by far, I got the Lamb Madras and my wife always goes for the safe chicken tikka masala, both were exceptional. We are planning on coming back next month!

Terrible! What happened to this place. Passanda inedible. Watered down bunha rezela heavily spiced no flavour. Total waste of money.

I ordered the chicken tikka masala on a busy Friday night and whilst I had to wait for it to be made I would not describe the wait as unreasonable. The meal itself was absolutely lush and the portion was enough for me to have on the night and then heated up and ate the following day. I would happily say this is the best take-away in the area.

I've given this place the benefit of the doubt three times but having just got my order wrong again this will definitely be the last time. I'd like to state that the food is pretty good but it varies each time we've ordered. We walked in and said hello as the take away guy was on the phone, this guy said we'd have to wait for him to finish, which we did and then rudely two "regular locals" walked in, who he clearly knew, and served them first. In the meantime our food was sat on the side waiting and he didn't seem to care. Sadly when we got the take away home the order was incorrect, as he hadn't bothered to read it back to us over the phone or during collection. Plenty of other local places to try, unless you don't want to receive the right order 🤣

Amazing food, amazing service. Never have I known a restaurant treat their customers like these guys do. Welcomed like a friend and treat like royalty every time. This place gets better every time!

Travelled up from Cambridge and stayed at the hotel next to the restaurant, convenient location for anyone staying at the Gibside Hotel Had the Chicken Tikka Dupiaza and Mushroom Rice with a Keema Naan and it was spot on, delicious, good portion size and very fairly priced for all the food Staff were also courteous throughout and friendly.

Nothing of any real note, not bad in any way, just stand Indian restaurant fayre

We tried the Tuesday night buffet. The food was delicious. Very good value for money with mixed starters and a good selection of curries with nan and 2 rices. The lamb was especially tender. The service was excellent, attentive but not overly. We've tried the a la carte menu before and that was good but we'll certainly go back for the buffet again.

Thank you to the staff at Jandami, it was our first visit and we'll definitely be returning. The food was delicious, the service was speedy and courteous. I had the monkfish jalfrezi (madras heat) which was zingy and tasty - but all of our dishes were great.

Dog food looks better than the food served to me, however, I would not serve this food to a dog, let alone a human. I ended up very ill and very aquinted with the bathroom for an entire evening. I actually thought the beer was my favourite part of the evening, until I saw the waiter clean the glasses with a dirty table cloth. Yes, a table cloth.

Lovely food, great service, good value for money

Absolutely horrendous. I'm not going to rattle on about how bad the food was, but what I will say is that I made a better packed lunch for the journey to the local area when visiting today.

Quite frankly, the best Indian in England. The food is always incredible and warm, bursting with flavour. It is presented well, even in takeaway. The staff are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, remembering names, events and orders. Akhtar (sorry if I misspelt you name) is an incredible bartender and always greets me in a lovely manner. Haven’t been in a while, but when I go I will be sure to try your new monkfish dish!
