Fab venue. I've been to lots of great events and meetings there. The food and atmosphere is great. Staff are super friendly although it can sometimes take a while for orders to arrive during busy periods. It's worth the wait. Great view over the Tyne from the balcony in the summer too

So different inside, very unusual but very cosy. It's like mystical. Music was calming. Staff very attractive and welcoming. Food was great, apart from the food got cold quickly as the plate had not been warmed. The amazing mirrors 🪞 just outstanding, all handmade. Work shop on site, so could watch him at work.

The place itself was really lovely and was different to the other places me and my partner have been too for breakfast before. However the food and service from the chef certainly let the whole place down as when everything arrived it was cold and the eggs that I had were very chewy and quite rubber like. My partner also could not finish his food. The girls who were serving on the 24/9 were all really lovely however, and I do feel like they were just let down by the lack of competence from the chef. They certainly saved the experience as they were all lovely and welcoming and did apologise about delay.

Been here almost ten times and really enjoyed it, but when I last visited, I wrongly received a parking ticket that I had to fight. That puts me off visiting again.

This is a a gem of transformation from a church to an eatery. The service is immaculate, but please bear in mind it can get really busy so a little wait won't do harm. The food is what I feel on the upper side, but as I say quality over quantity ! My only downside is a gentleman whom works there never seems to greet or smile ? But rather left to this to the extremely female capable staff. There is off road parking, but please this is seriously limited to 4 people, but you can park in the area of the spire, but if disabled please make sure you buy a parking ticket and give this to staff at the spire where your mo ey will be returned. Home food cost money, don't go here if you think you can get burger and chips for 1.99or Blackpool for 1.50

Careful about the parking ! Recently owner wants to charge money for parking. We have been coming there before often and loved the place but recently the things are completely changed, the food is different, they don’t serve any more chai latte as cook stopped working there. And now they charge parking money without the information. We have been coming there for a while and never knew that the parking was payed but I guess they changed the rules nowadays and try to take as much as they can from people. They charged us 60 pounds for parking… the food quality become worse as well as drinks and staff friendliness was also less customer focus. I would say now this place is money focused rather than customer focused.

In a world of uninspiring chain restaurants this place is a rare gem. This is a very quirky and interesting place to eat, we went here for my cousin’s surprise 18th birthday party and it was our first time visiting. We had the burger and chips which were lovely, my only niggles would be that they didn’t have a great selection of drinks with not much on tap and the burgers were just too messy but they tasted good. I thought the prices were reasonable too. Definitely a beautiful place to visit if you fancy going somewhere a bit different off the beaten track, it’s also quite close to the Metrocentre.

Wow. Where do we begin. A wonderful welcome from the team, a great selection on the menu. The food was delicious, excellent portions and very well presented. It’s also Dog friendly. What more could you ask for? A hidden gem in Gateshead. Thank you.

Party of 9, I called the day before and they said they had no bookings and to just turn up. We ordered drinks (cans of pop) and then I went to the till and ordered food. It took so long that after 45 minutes waiting, we were given complimentary drinks. Eventually some food turned up. The menu had said Pan Fried Salmon, chips and shallots. A salmon salad was given and we said we didn't order that and they were happy to change it to chips. During that time, 4 pies and chips turned up. The pies were all still FROZEN SOLID in the middle and I took one back to the till to show the staff. It's now an hour and a half into our visit. The waitress said she didn't know why the food was frozen and offered to reheat it (no thanks). 3 dishes still haven't arrived from the kitchen. They asked us if we would wait and they would start again but at 90 minutes in, we said no thanks and left (we didn't pay). I appreciate the quirky venue (though the water dripping in through the front windows and soaking one of our chairs wasn't good). The waitress was polite but the food and how run down the front right-hand room was, was simply awful. The guy on the till who took the order simply got it wrong (we didn't even see salmon salad on the menu or online). We won't be back. 15/8/24

Popped in last week for a Breakfast Butty and ended up having a Hot Lamb Butty instead... Delicious 😋

Walked in for some lunch, with parents, which resulted in a 40 minute waiting time. Enquired 30mins into waiting to discover one plate was ready, waiting on the side to be delivered. The excuse we were given, by a bad mannered member of staff, is that it was due to an event they were hosting later that day and that we should have booked prior (I have worked in a similar cafe set-up before, and balancing event hosting and general day-service was never an issue. So the excuses didn’t make sense to me. It really shouldn’t be effecting general service as bad as it did). Suggested that they should have warned us of the waiting time while we were ordering at the till, but just received bad attitude back - the member of staff just didn’t want to know. Not that we were looking for one, but we weren’t even offered a refund or gesture of an apology. The place was empty, in the sense we were the only customers in there that had ordered food at that time too. Used to be a place my parents enjoyed to go out to, as a local cafe. Won’t be returning for the foresee-able. Only one member of staff seemed to actually be doing something (obviously having not seen inside the kitchen), and conscious of seeing to the needs of customers.

Have wanted to try here for a while but we were sadly disappointed. Went on a mid week dinner time And They were obviously understaffed but did not make you aware when ordering etc. We ended up waiting 1 hour for an oily greasy cheese and onion toastie, and a black burnt chicken and pork kebab which was the days “special”. The staff were friendly and apologetic for the delay but feel they really lack a level of professionalism. This place could be great if somebody could get a hold of it and get some organisation and processes in place. Unfortunately won’t return.

Used to go regularly with the family but recent got a parking charge. Signage around the back car park wasn’t clear and to be honest was so used to not having to pay for parking there. I don’t believe I should have to pay for parking in Bensham to pay to eat and drink. Unfortunately after having to fill out 60 quid for a fine, I won’t be going back. Honestly, for a place of that style and atmosphere to have hard parking and associated fines just seems wrong.

I have visited the cafe a few times in the past and always loved it’s quirky nature, however today we were beset with problems. Initially we were seated quickly with drinks but my coffee was tepid at best, after waiting over 20 minutes we had to request someone to take our order. When the food eventually arrived the order was incorrect and came at different times. When we went to pay there was a brief apology but when I attempted to offer some feedback I was completely ignored by the server. The customer service was awful ensuring we won’t be back in a hurry which is a real shame given our positive experiences in the past.

I love this place. The food and homemade cakes/scones are always fantastic, the staff are the most lovely people and the general atmosphere is lovely. Excellent adaption of an old church building. Me and my friends had a "fire room" which are located just by the doors but have their own curtain "entrance", tables in, and a stove, which Terry (the on site handyman) very kindly lit for us. The staff have always been the soul of this place and today's team was as lovely as always. The quality of the products is exceptional too. The staff are always fantastic, the man that owns the church is great and we are frequently served by Abby and Ava, who always greet customers and make for a great visit. This place hosts some some excellent events, themed evenings and charitable nights. All must visit!

Always venture here for a day out , they were very busy which was understandable for Father’s Day , however , the waitress attitude because my colleague asked if they had any alternatives to Coke or Diet Coke was not acceptable . She huffed on the table infront of customers then went to the coffee bar and shouted I am not serving that lass over there someone else can . Not very professional.

I absolutely love this place. So unique and special. It offers some great homemade comfort food at a reasonable price in such a unique and beautiful setting. It offers some artwork and mirrors for sale, has a great outdoor terrace upstairs that would be amazing for a private function and seating outside if you prefer to be outside. Seems to be family and run and it is so good for parking with plenty of options right next to the venue. Has plenty of things going such as gigs and buskers night so be sure to check out what is happening here. Top venue!!

Nine of us went for my daughters birthday and had a great night. With some fantastic Bangladeshi options I went for the Lamb Balti with rice and Naan. Absolutely delicious and the lamb was so tender and lean. The staff are all lovely also. Can't wait to go back and try a breakfast. Went back for the all day breakfast and it was delicious and huge.

Wanted to visit for a while ! Sadly service was slow and haphazardly delivered. Seems kitchen was to blame . Long wait and then one main forgotten so hubby ate alone 20 mins later and it was just lamb in a bun !!! No rush to come back even though staff were canny and apologised.

Wow what a beautiful hidden gem! So gorgeous on the inside, food was delicious, well priced and staff were so attentive and lovely! We got really lucky by coming at 4:30pm and having the cafe entirely to ourselves! Honestly with the opening hours they have, it's the perfect place to go and work from when bored of home, or hang out after work. Will be back!

My wife and I found this place by accident and I've been a few times now and I've never been disappointed. The customer care the food everything is amazing and well worth a visit.

Hands down the best cafe iv ever been to, and I was brought up in one and love to explore different cafes, first of all the decor and all the art from mirrors to ornaments and ceiling drapes and lights are beautiful and beyond. You get a real sense of the work that goes into them as you see them quite literally being made there and then by the owner. The ambience is so cosy and homely, relaxing and just a pleasure to be sat there, the coffees taste amazing, the food is phenomenal. Those avacados were the freshest tastiest Avocados of ever tasted with perfectly cooked eggs. Full English breakfast very good quality food and cooked to perfection. The staff are amazing so friendly and attentive could of chatted with them longer, iv not yet checked out the terrace or the other rooms but will definitely be making this place a regular for me and my family. Reminds me of home and takes you right out the hustle and bussle of “city life” just a huge hats off to all who make this place what it is, there’s nothing iv been to quite like it. Will be back and would recommend profusely. Thankyou :))

Came to the cafe on the spire and we were not disappointed Service was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we recieved excellent service. A very quirky place and well worth a visit. We will definitely be back.

Great cafe in an unusual location.

Visited after finding out Cotfield mirrors trade from here, and loved the idea of it being in a church! It's a hidden gem, definitely worth adding it to your places to visit just for the setting, let alone the unique ambiance, lovely food and friendly staff.

Went for the first time last week and I don't know why I waited so long. It's been high on my list for a while but never quite made it. It was well worth it. Unusual, beautiful, amazing food, great staff. I have already booked one of their banquet nights and I am taking my son along to lunch again today. New fave place!

Little gem of a place. Recently had my sister's birthday party there. Food is delicious. You can pick what toppings go on your pizza. Cheesy double cooked chips are heavenly. Staff are very very friendly. It's also dog friendly. On site parking.

A quirky venue with a good atmosphere. The service can be a bit hit and miss, but the food is nice.

A bit quiet tonight, very lovely staff, couldn't do enough for us. The pizza was magnificent, and the peas with the chicken thighs were heavenly. This was my second visit. The last time was for breakfast, which was beautiful. I can't recommend this hidden gem enough. The view from the outside seating of Newcastle is a must.

A long wait for a mediocre cup of warm overpriced coffee.

i attended with my parents and sister for my mums birthday lunch as this was the church that my mother was christened at. the location is very good, with beautiful views of the tyne and surrounding areas. When you go inside you can see a lot of effort has been made with the decor, which is very well done. we were met with friendly helpful staff. we went at lunchtime, and it was relatively quiet and were quickly shown to our table. my parents both ordered the burger and chips, my sister the margarita pizza and i ordered the salmon salad, which the waitress gushed at as it was her go to for herself. the food arrived in decent time, and all was well for a time. while initially we enjoyed our food, i realised, after i'd eaten the salady parts of my meal first leaving the salmon until last that while the fish was cooked on the outside, it was raw on the inside. i had eaten 2 or 3 bites before i realised this, and when i saw how pink it was (akin to a steak cooked rare), i felt very queasy and lost my appetite. fortunately i had not eaten enough to cause any stomach problems. it is such a pity; had it been cooked through i'd have given 5 stars. and to pre-empt the obvious question "why didn't you say anything?" - i would not have trusted any attempt to fix the issue given the gravity of the error. for balances sake, the other meals were cooked well and enjoyed.

This is a lovely cafe hidden away in a church. The staff make you feel so welcoming and are very friendly, not like the rendezvous cafe in whitley bay. Coffees cakes sandwiches and small mealsl like burgers and pizzas on offer and at the same prices as other outlets. Very comfortable and very different. Didn't want to leave. Will be going back. Although I only had a coffee on this visit I have previously eaten an excellent curry here in this quirky cafe/restaurant. The staff are always welcoming and the decor is bohemian. I’m looking forward to returning soon.

Had a delicious meal on Valentine's day. Food was amazing, good choice of vegetarian options. Staff were absolutely lovely. The atmosphere was so nice and the surroundings were sumptuous. Photos of the inside of the cafe don't do it justice. It is even more glorious in real life.

It supposed to be a birthday lunch in a beautiful place and it went absolutely terrible .. We didn't get drinks in the same time and even worse than that our meals arrived separately with a BIG GAP of time... I ended up upset and in tears when leaving this place as it ABSOLUTELY ruined our special meal in a very special day. I will never come back...

I have given 3 stars because past experience has been good. Previously used the cafe and the Bangladesh evening menu and no complaints. Today was different. My food order was obviously forgotten. That can happen but it was-the reaction to this which was very poor and almost indifferent. I still waited another half hour for it to be served in a very off handed way. It was only a sandwich yet the total time I waited was nearly an hour. A request for a further coffee was agreed but not forthcoming. They were not busy at all. The worrying thing is that the person who claims to be in charge obviously did not recognise that the service was terrible and I do wonder if she has previously worked in a similar capacity. Because of past experiences I will go back and hopefully this experience will not be repeated. However I’m not too confident

I can't say enough good things about this bar! The atmosphere is inviting, and the bartenders Maia and Abbie are skilled mixologists who create delicious and unique cocktails. The selection of beers and spirits is impressive, ensuring there's something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a relaxed evening or a vibrant night out, this bar delivers a memorable experience with its great service and enjoyable ambiance. Absolutely reccomend 10/10

First time I've been in. Never knew about it till a few weeks ago. Very nice relaxing atmosphere. I've yet to try a meal there. Interesting place. Great artwork on all walls but some are a bit pricey. I suppose they have to be expensive the work that gets put into their pieces of art. Love a couple of the mirror's in particular. Very interesting place that was a church. Must go again soon!

After reading good reviews regarding Vegan cake options, we decided to walk 45mins to get there and try it out. On arrival we were told that there were No Vegan cakes, despite it being a Saturday and had one been oped 30mins. Tea and coffee didn't taste good, so were left. Will not be back !

I attended here with my wife and dog. The decor is beautiful and quirky. The staff were incredibly welcoming to us both and our dog. They were helpful and seemed to enjoy working there, which is always an encouraging sign. The coffee’s were lovely, a very tasty flat white and our food - hot beef sandwich and poached eggs on sourdough were both really tasty. We will definitely return soon!

Had a Bacon Sandwich and Hot Chocolate, sandwich was full of bacon and tasted lovely, hot chocolate was good. Staff were more than helpful in explaining menu and the ethos of the Establishment. They are doing Music and Comedy nights twice a month upstairs. Decor is eclectic and atmospheric. Well worth a visit.

A delightful dog friendly place absolutely jam packed with character. The food is always delicious and service is always fast and friendly. Heartily recommended.

Fantastic venue which I was pleasantly surprised by. It's an old church in Bensham but step inside and it's like being inside an artist's head. Food was really tasty, had food off the Bangladesh village menu which was spiced just right and arrived promptly. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Going to go back and try breakfast.

Such a nice place for lunch! the vegan wrap was really delicious and the bread with the soup was amazing. The two waitresses that were in were lovely, really kind people, would absolutely come back for the 10/10 service they gave.We got some vegan cake which was honestly one of the best vegan things i’ve had :))

Very atmospheric and quirky. We had a lovely Sunday lunch there and I loved it. It's surprisingly large with lots of smaller rooms, and I noticed that the staff tried to spread everyone out so you could have private conversations. Obviously it was quiet and this may not always be possible. No intrusive loud music either!

Came here for first time today after reading excellent reviews. First impressions not good - outdoor seating area a bit of a mess - scrubby and weed filled grass, tables and chairs have seen better days, ashtray full on the next table, and there were Calor gas bottles in place to cordon off an area of grass. The next building along is what looks like a bail hostel with patrons using the grounds of the cafe as a short cut. Prices are steep - £12 for a breakfast is an example. The table was dirty and had to ask twice to have it wiped (which was done AFTER food arranged). It just didn’t look good. I ordered a hot roast chicken sandwich and a coke. My guest ordered something different but with tea. Cup of Tea is listed as £1.80 in the menu but they were charged £3 as they requested a pot. No price for a pot on the menu. When i looked at the receipt, I had been overcharged (which was refunded on request). When My food came out it was covered in gravy, no mention of that in the menu. That wasn’t so much the problem - it was that the sandwich contained so much pepper in it that it took my breath away. I left about 3/4 of it uneaten. Complained and nothing else was offered instead/ no refund offered. About 5 minutes later, waitress came and asked if there was anything else i wanted. I said no, I just want a refund. “Sorry, we don’t do refunds”. Considering my meal was not as described in the menu and was absolutely vile, I think the least they could do was refund me. I asked if there was a manager, only to be told “Theres the bloke who does the mirrors - he’s the owner”. I asked for him but 5 minutes later he hadn’t shown. Tired of waiting, i left. The staff couldn’t have cared any less if they tried. My review of this place? Never again. If I could give it minus stars, I would. Don’t bother!

Poor service. One girl in particular with a bad attitude looked like she’d rather be on death row than be serving anyone. Outside area grubby. Food basic and overpriced. Pot of tea. Supposed to be for 2 people yet only 1 tea bag in the pot! Drank 1 cup but what was left in the pot didn’t even fill a quarter of a cup. So it was actually only tea for 1 and they had the cheek to charge £3 for it. Definitely won’t be going back.

Second time I have visited - was very impressed on first visit and brought another friend on this visit who likewise was impressed. Staffvery friendly and helpful - food and service first class. Enjoyed informative chat with staff member assembling mirror - he went out of his way to explain his work. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Lovely food at a good price! Had a cheese scone today. Waitress asked if I wanted Apricot jam, which I thought bizarre. Until I tried it. Woweeee!!!

Lovely quirky place, but food is poor and over priced and service was adequate. There were 5 of us for Sunday lunch, the table they sat us at was cramped and uncomfortable - in hind sight we should have asked to be moved. The only choices were the types of meat - but one person asked for chips instead of mash - they put the chips on the wrong plate. The roasted vegetables were over cooked and the boiled vegetables were nearly raw. The gravy had a taste of masala, which was weird and very off putting. At £15.00 per meal it was totally over priced for what it was - it was not value for money at all. I have been here a number of time for coffee - but never tried the food and was very disappointed.

My sister took me and my sisters for the first time, she said you've been here before, she said you got married here, I couldn't believe it. This place is brilliant, great staff, which you get the VIP treatment every time. The food if fantastic, and has a great ambiance. This is now our happy place.

They are big on presentation but tiny on taste. The building is fabulous. Presentation of food was good too but other than tge salad abd chicken wings, the rest had no flavour. Pizza tasted like a shop bought base with cheese added on top. Cooked to almost burnt. The bagladeshi village food had very week flavours. Chicken was cooked well in both but although different meals, they had the same taste.

Absolutely shocking experience tonight! The service was awful, the waitress was huffing and puffing whenever she was doing anything or asked a question. The food was disgusting, the Bangladeshi curries were just oily and bland, having absolutely zero flavour; the grilled food had no variety in flavours - it all tasted like ginger. Would NEVER recommend

Friday 14th July 2023. Food quite basic but nice. Venue quirky, felt it was work in progress ie toilets very poor particularly upstairs no hand drying facilities. The entertainment was disappointing all protest type miserable depressing songs.Not our cup of tea.

A unique venue with eclectic decor, ample parking, a decently stocked bar and a programme of special events.

This is a great place for coffee and lunch. It's a fantastic cafe with loads of character and inspiring artwork. I would definitely recommend this cafe.

What an absolute gem of a place! How have I not been before? The curry was delicious... I will definitely be going back to try the daytime menu and very possibly have another slab of that honey cake. It's dog friendly too so I shall be back with the little monster!!!

I’ve visited here twice now and absolutely love it. It’s really like no other place I’ve visited - an absolutely beautiful building (old church) renovated tastefully with some beautiful pieces d’art throughout. Food is lovely - a little different but very nice. We stuck to snacks - toasties first time and scrambled egg on toast the following visit. I understand they’re branching out and doing weddings too. Lovely place!

Went for lunch with my daughter,I ordered scrambled eggs on toast, a simple enough dish to make I would have thought,it was tasteless ,the eggs were overcooked and smelled fishy ,for £8 I expected more , I won’t be back.
