Recommended. Excellent food, excellent staff. I have been to this restaurant a few times now, it can only be described as outstanding. The quality & freshness of the food is amazing. The staff are very attentive.

Ordered takeaway for 4 people. Food wasn't nice at all. Everything was stale, not much flavor. Onion bajies I'm sorry to say, worst I've had. Never ever seen potatoes mixed in with rice. Will not order from here again.

This is one place I really won't rush back to. Both times I have been I have had the same experience. The gentlemen who does the meet and greet can't seem to get you seated quick enough (even if its at the wrong table). Twice he tried to sit me down with a group of people I stated we were not meeting. We didn't seem to have much timr when looking at the menu, baring in mind we were a table of 12. Again a bit party, I understand you would want people seated and orders taken for time reasons but the attitude of the gentlemen is just rude. He is quite snappy and abrupt. The food is nice, clay oven choices a little dry, wouldn't have those again. Once finished very quick to take your money with an added £40 service charge. Which in all honesty no tip would be worth leaving for the service. Both times I have been there has been a large group and it has been quite a considerable amount of wait for food to be braught out. Well over an hour both times.

Place Nice, ambience nice, service excellent, food glorious and so well presented and the waiters were very gentle. We all agreed we would be coming again.

Excellent location, fantastic food, great service, extremely friendly - sadly as we left an employee (stood at the rear of the restaurant having a cigarette) with white/blonde hair, male, glasses with a ‘man bun’ hairstyle took exception to friends who were not ‘local’. When showing friends how ‘friendly the North is’ it is disappointing to have a yokel berate people (who are of grandparent age) who are Forces Veterans and only wishing to have a pleasant time. Again, great place, service and food but poor choice of employing this one inward looking and rude individual.

Was advised to visit by family members on one of our very rare child free night. The atmosphere was wonderful, with live music, it appeared busy but it wasn't over powering. Service was incredibly on point, The staff were very attentive. The menu and food was sublime. I think I could easily say its up there with some of the best Indian food I've ever had!

Visited on new year eve ..... As usual food fantastic. Lovely staff.

We were staying near by at nye and looked at the reviews, we pre booked. On collection they had a singer on. Food was lovely and portions were huge and very reasonably priced

In my opinion this is the best Indian restaurant in the north east, all the dishes we had were 5 star and the service is second to none. The menu has a great selection of dishes, with something for everyone, and the staff were happy to make suggestions and recommendations. The Sunday lunch time set menu is extremely good value for money. We’re already planning our next visit.

Just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Namaste. I had my 30th Birthday Party there on Saturday night and they couldn't have done more for us. They put on an amazing buffet and the staff were very accommodating. 100% recommend!

Fantastic place, just one thing was that when ordering drinks we were not informed of the " special offers" when I questioned the price of my drinks I was told I had to ask for the " special offers" . It was the first time we had been there and because we were not told of any offers we were not aware of them. First round of drinks 2 bottles of prosecco and one large lemonade £33.50. Second round of drinks one bottle of prosecco and a mocktail for our designated driver. £31.50 Strange don't you think? Only place, restaurant pub or otherwise that got you to pay for your drinks as you go and not allowed to run a tab,again strange. After speaking to various people this place has a reputation for ripping people of with there drinks.!!! This was clarified by one of our companies statement, she bought four cocktails thinking it was on the 2 for 1 price but was charged full price for four individual cocktails. Not good !!! Would I/ we go back, yes for food as it was superb. However I would be keeping a keen eye on our bill.

We were here for a family evening meal including children. The staff were amazing, very attentive and catered for our every need. The food is delicious, everybody really enjoyed their meal. The portion sizes are very good and the quality is excellent. The interior is very comfortable, tables are nicely spaced out and the decor is in keeping with the lovely old premises. Definitely returning.

One bottle of prosecco and two small curries, without starters or dessert = £67. Take away the prosecco, which was £20 per bottle, and that's £23.50 per head for one course. When my food arrived, it was basically five very small pieces of chicken in an extremely bland pistachio sauce - it had very little flavour and zero seasoning. My partner's paneer curry was okay but unremarkable. The naan bread was just average naan bread. We've regularly had far superior food from our local takeaway. On the whole, a disappointment.

I visited on Wednesday evening with my Mam to celebrate my birthday. I've been a few times but it was the first time for my Mam. The food and service were outstanding, which they have been each time I've visited. I would highly recommend and will visit again.

Fabulous. A night out with two friends, one who has not eaten Indian cuisine, turned out to be a culinary taste experience. 😋 It was the 5th anniversary of the restaurant opening and we were treat to a platter of starters (each) free of charge, plenty tastes to try. . We ordered from the 4 course menu, starter, main, rice and naan, and it was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive and courteous. We will definitely return.

We went to celebrate a birthday and were looked after from start to finish (our waiter should be on the stage 😂) and the little added touches made it even more special. Booked a birthday for my mam and the full experience was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were fabulous and 1st class. My mam was treated like a queen. Food was severed to perfection and extremely quick. Overall the atmosphere and service was the best and highly recommended. Keep up the great work all. We will definitely be back soon.

By shear chance we saw this place, stopped and went in. Very friendly, staff excellent, food excellent, prices really good and the waiter from Sunderland was really nice to us, even speaking directly to our autistic Foster son. That alone speaks volumes. Would we go back again..... Deffo, next time we are up here from Liverpool. Thanks for a great time.

Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Brought my grandaughter chicken nugget and chips no charge. Food was lovely as was the place.

Terrible takeaway service. We have ordered online to have a delivery service before and not received the order until 10.30 in the evening (ordered before 7pm) Therefore, we now order and collect it. Tonight we ordered two set menus and a Childs portion of scampi and chips. We collected it and returned home only to find that the scampi and chips were not included. I contacted the restaurant and they told me that I would have to come back to collect it. We did. I then waited for a while in the restaurant for it to be cooked (not a problem) When it was given to me the gentleman apologised and said that they'd popped a couple of extra bits in the bag as an apology. I thanked them and left. When we got home my daughter opened up the carton and it had scampi, very soggy and insipid looking chips below a layer of oily onions and mushrooms with peas mixed in. My daughter is allergic to mushrooms so I called the restaurant again to ask why it wasn't just the scampi and chips as per the menu. After a pause I was told that's how the kids scampi and chips is served. I explained why she couldn't eat it and was asked to bring everything back again. We did. Upon entering the restaurant the bag was taken away and I asked if I wanted the extras or not. The tone was of someone of who was not happy that I had returned the food. To save embarrassment from people now looking at me I said that I wanted the scampi and chips that was advertised on the menu. I tried to explain that if it had been advertised that it came with everything that had been put on, we'd have asked for it to be left off but they just walked away. We finally got the order, but by the time we got home the two set menus were cold. Not impressed with the service tonight which is a shame as the food is normally so very good.

Staff amazing and friendly. Food was amazing. Restaurant is spotless. First time ordering Indian tapas and took the advice from the waiter. Told him what I like and he got it so right.

Myself and three members of my family visited namaste restaurant in Sunniside. We ordered four starters and four mains. We also ordered drinks which we ended up having to order three times before they came . The starters were ok. However when the mains came the chicken Korma I ordered tasted awful. So bad that I asked the other members of the family to taste it as it was that bad. The all agreed it was awful. When the waiter returned I explained how bad the curry was and he took it away. He returned 15 minutes later with a new curry in a bag and explained it had washing up liquid in it as the chef had tasted it and explained he didn’t rinse the pans. Didn’t make much sense as I’m sure the chef doesn’t wash the pans but he might but the curry definitely tasted like washing up liquid we all agreed on that. They still put the service charge on and the only thing we got free was my curry which came 20 minutes after everyone else had finished theirs. We wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and we certainly won’t return.

Absolutely brilliant, went last night and so glad tried here, been a bit disappointed at others lately and will just be coming here going forwards for an Indian, really tasty, great presentation and service, try it you won’t be disappointed

Unfortunately we won't be going again due to the cost. The prices are not cheap but the food is good so worth going but the starters are expensive and now they are adding a 10% service charge which is optional but they don't tell you this, they just put it in small writing at the bottom of the receipt. We rounded off our bill to include a tip and ended up paying a tip of around £10 because of the service charge!! Hidden charges including the poppadoms and dips which they offer but don't tell you about the charge. Check your bills

They've stopped table service for drinks when you are having a meal. A bit of a shame. Great food though :)

A fantastic place great food and amazing staff

I have been to this restaurant many times and always been pleased, however we ordered takeaway tonight and the whole thing was a disgrace! Pre-ordered for delivery for 6.30, at 5.30 the online tracking said the order had been delivered so I called the restaurant to be told “the food was being prepped”, by 6.50 still no food so called again to be told (after an excruciating wait listening to the shouting on in the kitchen) that the food on their ticket had been ordered to deliver at 8pm….I advised this was far too late and I’d like to cancel, the restaurant confirmed the food could be delivered within 30 mins, again I advised if it wasn’t delivered in this time to cancel and refund….the food arrived 7.10….both burnt and uncooked frozen chips, greasy but hard nan breads, lamb kebabs that wouldn’t have filled a child and the flattest onions bhajis…such a let down, would never ever order from here again…ditch the takeaways!!

Amazing place. Loved being outside and listening to the music. Food was lovely drinks were great but the best thing was the staff. So friendly and helpful. We will be going again and highly recommend this place.

Bottomless brunch! Wow what can I say what an amazing place this is! Special thanks to all the staff especially Mac and Sylvia. Food was out of this world! Drinks plenty of choice and kept flowing no need to ask for too ups! Live entertainment excellent range of tunes to suit all. The setting of the place is fabulous we were lucky to have a warm dry night. Can’t fault the place at all a hidden treasure thankyou very much can’t wait to come back x

Great food again. However before you pay £8.50 for a cocktail, make sure you are happy to wait for one to be poured out of a tap rather than made/mixed and for it to be warm (no ice).

We have now visited this establishment twice and really enjoyed the food definitely worth the journey. However the tables are very close together so confidential conversation is impossible .On busy nights you are often deafened by the shouting, bellowing and load laughing of other customers. The tables are all squeezed into a small room . Service is generally good ,however waiters often don't listen closely and you can be served by up to 4 different waiters in one night who often don't know what you have ordered. SEVICE CHARGE IS INCLUDED IN THE BILL so don't feel any embarrassment in not leaving any further tip. Prices are fairly expensive but i believe the food is worth it. Again it is worth cross checking your bill for any queries you may have! By the way there is ample car parking which is a bonus .

Nothing here to knock, I went with 3 others and really enjoyed the meal. The staff there were very friendly and helpful, and had a bit of banter with us too. My advice GET YOURSELF THERE

A very disappointing evening, the service was very poor. The food was lovely, surrounding very nice. Such a shame that the service left a poor taste. I will not be visiting again

Gorgeous food and very friendly service.

I'm so disappointed with the food, one of the worst indian curry. Chicken Rogan had only 4 pices of chicken in it and 10 wedges of tomatoes. When you serve curry with tomatoes as big as this, they will burn your mouth while chicken was not even that warm. £6 paid for 2 glasses of water! Same price as 2 glasses of Coke. 2 people out of 4 felt ill after. Only the starters were good.

Ordered take away just after six. Called at half seven to chase up and was told it left with the driver five minutes ago. Called again at quarter past eight to be told it was sent out with a driver fifteen minutes ago. Called again a quarter to nine to cancel order and told the food will come but there won't be any charge. There is still no food.

Fantastic Food ! Amazing restaurant !

The food is absolutely banging from here, the decor is gorgeous. The older waiters are a bit aloof (you won't get a smile) but the younger ones make up for it as they are so fast, charming and literally can't do enough for you! Would deffo reccomend for the food alone is amazing 100/10 also have proper Indian options not your boring white people korma and masallas -some tasty hot options. The menu is nice and concise for people like me that can spend hours not knowing what to pick. Cocktails are good aswell and they have deals on them.

First time we have been here. The food was excellent & reasonably priced. The service was great. There was also live music in the outdoor seating area. I would definitely recommend a night out here.

Had a beautiful meal today with family.Fabulous meals cooked to perfection. Manager and Staff were fabulous and so friendly. They all went the extra mile to make us welcome. Outstanding service and amazing food.

Hands down the best Indian takeaway I’ve ever had! Everything was made from the best ingredients and so fresh! It was my first order and it won’t be the last! We will be back in the next few weeks to eat in!

Ordered our food to be delivered at 6pm to be told it could take 1-1/2 hours due to how busy it was. This was no issue as we have had food from this restaurant before and it’s worth the wait! Once 2 hours had passed...

The main course could of been a lot more hotter however the rest of the experience was great.

Food lovely and the 4 course special is very well priced for the amount of food you get. The only complaints are the service was extremely slow there was about an hour wait between starter and mains and the musician who was playing was very loud. Waiter couldn’t hear anything we asked for and we couldn’t hear each other around the table.

Went tonight with friends and we loved it. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was lovely. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend it. Thank you for a lovely night.

Mediocre and drinks very expensive. Rip off paying for the minuscule-sized 3 pickles (3.50) as well as poppadoms. (4.50) Which were not particularly appetising and the poppadoms tasted stale. The starters were delicious I'll give them that. But the mixed grill was very dry and my curry was just OK. We also felt let down by the extortionate price of drinks. There are far superior Indian restaurants in the locality.

Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated, and efficient service. Offered poppadoms which came with dips quickly. Ordered off the specials menu. The food was screaming hot which is great and the starters were lovely. Mains ... my prawn rogan josh was tasty but some of my 5...

Loved the layout , food great , service a little intrusive TBH . Great for stag/hen do bit noisy for our 4 some would give it another go not on a weekend and see if its quite.

Great location in what was the Marquis of Granby. Can't fault the ease of booking, the service and the interior decor. Just felt the food lacked something, its my own preference but it was missing the fresh zingy taste that I associate with good indian/bangladesh...

Ordered food at 7pm. 8:46pm and still waiting. Rang to check told on way but still no sign?? I live 1 mile away???? Called to check on order when over due and palmed off with flippant response and rude staff. Food was delicious, credit where due however service very poor and needs addressed. Back to Jamdani for us based on experience.

Arrived after 2 and a half hours. Cold and soggy sides. Second time this has happened in 3 months. Won’t be using again. Shame as the actual curry sauce is tastey. Poppadoms went in the bin as they were soggy and raw.

Opted for the Sunday lunch yesterday. Ordered the beef dinner and it was spectacular!!!!! Beef was succulent and plentiful , a good selection of vegetables , 3 Yorkshire's and a very good gravy. It was a wonderful tasty dinner and I would thoroughly recommend it! Definitely value for money !! The service from the waiter was excellent, very attentive and impeccable.

Went for Christmas day lunch with family a d had a combination of Indian starters and turkey dinner. Welcomed with a glass of prosecco and a tray of poppadoms and pickles. 3 of us had rainbow chicken tikka and my wife had lightly spiced salmon....

Amazing food, there's always a lovely atmosphere and the staff are great. Last time we were there for a double celebration and the staff noticed (clearly just taking note of toasts etc as there was nothing obvious, like a banner or something) and they took the time to congratulate our friends and were very kind to us all. Totally unexpected but massively appreciated. Now to the food, it is delicious! Meats all cooked beautifully, flavours are outstanding, I've never had an everage meal there. Their happy hour deal is excellent too so look out for that. Highly recommend.

Been several times now and the food had always been both very tasty and presented well.

Good interesting menu, good food and service

W went here for the lad's Christmas meal out and what a good idea it was to choose here. We arrived just after 8 pm but they allowed us to still select from the evening meal deal. The service was prompt and friendly and after taking our drinks order and asking if we wanted poppadoms for the table we were seated. Everyone in our group loved their meal and I would highly recommend here to anyone. I'll be back in the new year with my family that's for sure.

Super food and super friendly staff

Great service and food was very nice. The waiter recommended a nan bread I had not had before, garlic tikka cheese. This is now my new go to nan bread 😋 definitely going here again.

my first visit with couple of friends. very attentive,professional staff, modern, clean premises, plenty space between tables, food was good, roshuni chicken starter was excellent, chicken bhuna bit mild heat wise but still good,naan breads are naan breads, egg,,coriander rice was fantastic, couple of pints...

Fabulous food and staff great place to eat. Another update been for lunch today and it was outstanding thought the last time we ate here was good but it was even better everything was 11 out of 10 and staff was brilliant the best curry we've had since India be back again soon loved it

This was a first visit for my husband and I to celebrate our Granddaughter's birthday. We were very very impressed. The service and presentation of the food was excellent. There was an extensive menu and the quality of the food was amazing. We are looking forward so much to a return visit to this wonderful restaurant.
