We enjoy visiting the Rashleigh Arms and appreciate the efforts staff make. The fish and chips were great- still would like a side vegetables option. There was a TV in the restaurant area which no one wanted or was watching, that was the only negative thing (there are TVs in the bar area). Lovely place to visit!

The atmosphere and decor of the Rashleigh Arms truly is top notch! Whilst initially it is a bit confusing where you had to go to get a table, the issue was rectified fast enough by simply asking one of the approachable members of staff behind the bar. We arrived on lunchtime so we anticipated a bit of a wait for our food, I found that the rashleigh arms kitchen did have one of the longest wait times I’ve experienced as of yet for local restaurants around the surrounding area. But drinks arrived promptly and we kept ourselves entertained with conversation. We ordered the chorizo bites to share which were quite enjoyable and for the main I ordered the fish and chips. Whilst my food tasted very nice I can’t help but feel that it would have been more enjoyable if the food was hot, not sure if it was sitting under a heat lamp prior to being sent out, my eating companion also thought the same for their burger, the temperature of the food didn’t affect us too much, I’d happily come back but perhaps at a different time in the day. Have had some really lovely meals here so would definitely recommend if you’re thinking of visiting!

We went here after lunch to have some drinks - the bar side was packed and busy - the restaurant side was empty but they would not let anyone sit on that side if not ordering food. The pub has been refurbished and looks nothing like the online pictures - we expected a place with sofas and wood burning fire but on a cold saturday there was no fire and the sofas etc have been replace by pub tables and chairs - a couple of sofas were by the door in the corridor but all of the ambiance of being a coastal pub have been ripped out. Drinks were good but when in cornwall is looking for a pub with cornish charm and ambiance this is not it - it was refurbished and could have been in any town any place any where.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy and quiet noisy which was understandable given the number of children dining with parents. The roast beef was served pink according to the menu - ours was cremated to a very dark brown, there was more apple sauce than roast belly pork, peas were hard, potatoes were barely roasted and the cauliflower cheese grey and insipid. At these prices I expect a meal to be better than a school dinner effort, shame on you St Austell Brewery. A tip to the serving staff - don't tell the customer they are wrong!

Have visited Charlestown on many occasions and used, and eaten at the Rashleigh Arms, so decided to book a 3 day stay. First Impression good, but sadly downhill quickly. Yes we stayed mid week, thus some people use the venue for work related stays. Accomodation looks the business, but we stayed in the Georgian townhouse building adjacent to the car park, on the ground floor. Thus the Harbour view was very restricted to craning ones neck to look over the building in front. Open the door to a step, easily forgotten, thus a trip hazard, likewise in the room itself. Hot water, eventually, leave the tap/s running and it eventually arrives. An old building we were told. Perhaps a pumped system would help. Central heating; window radiator had loose thermostatic valve thus not working, did manage to screw back, and told management needed fixing. If you are a light sleeper be aware; ground floor main door and staircase noisy from other residents, mentioned to management that perhaps a sign on the wall to consider others would be nice. Carpark, as they say is very up and down and not at all easy to move luggage, or indeed drive on, not that well lit either. Breakfast first day very disappointing, beware the Eggs Florentine, poached eggs hard and cold. Inedible and sent back. One area missing is for residents, unless you want to sit in the pub bar or your room. We went into the ,not very busy, restaurant area at 20.30, where breakfast is served, only to be told not sorry with a wave of the hand you have to go into the bar area. Football and not seats, no thanks. This is where the reception desk is too, so what if we had wanted to speak to the reception staff? We walked down to the sister pub and found it quite pleasant, they do have a resident area near reception, although we used a small room at the front. on leaving we mentioned all these to management, so maybe other visitors will benefit. Would we stay again, maybe, but pay for a lesser room and you'll get the view!

Great location if staying in Charlestown or St. Austell. Ample free parking, although the car park is very cobbly and bumpy. The room we stayed in was very comfortable with all of the usual amenities. We never ate here in the evening. However we did have lunch which was ok and the breakfast the next morning was very good. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. The only downside was that it sounded as though someone had fallen asleep with their tv on fairly loud, so we found ourselves listening to a shopping channel at 2am

Second time service has been shocking, after the meal we had on Father’s Day which left us disappointed due to the poor service we were assured that the problem would be resolved. Me and my partner came for a meal last night where we waited 10 minuets to be shown to our table and then a further 25 mins to be asked what we would like to drink whilst the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, really disappointing as the food was excellent as always but think this will be our last visit here for a while as service quality clearly hasn’t been resolved.

I can only review the Pub, Restaurant and Outside Beer Garden (not the Hotel). Rashleigh Arms is situated in a idyllic location being Charlestown and there is a lot of competition for food and alcohol venues as a result. However, this being a supported St Austell brewery pub means that food pricing particularly is more easy to stomach than a lot of other locations in Charlestown! But that's not to say it is "cheap pub food", surprisingly it is much on the upper market of that. Food is well served, presented and cooked, they are also very conscious of allergy requirements. Bar and table service is also very pleasant, ticking all the right boxes. Outdoor "Beer Garden" is brilliant, really roomy for lots of people and is a good sun trap with shaded areas for others. It gives a great vibe to the place overall. The only thing the garden lacked (unlike inside) was comfortable sitting chairs, at least the metal ones that is, and that's literally all I could mark them down for. Sky and TNT Sports are available on a big screen too for football, rugby and cricket. Great pub. Worth a visit, especially if you're hungry!

My wife and I spent three enjoyable nights at the Rashleigh. This was a trip down memory lane for my wife. As a child (over 6o years ago) her family holidayed at a Great Aunt's cottage on Quay Street and she had not been back since. Apparently the Aunt moved out to the Rashleigh while my wife and the family had the use of the cottage. Arriving tired after a long drive from North Wales we were taken to our room in the Annexe about 50m from the hotel. Our initial thoughts weren't too positive as we found the en-suite was basically the size of a wardrobe and many of the surfaces had black mould. However we spent the night there and in the morning we brought this to the attention of the Duty Manager. Without further quibble we were moved to a much larger room with a large bathroom in the main hotel . Well done management! Dinner in the hotel was excellent, only two minor complaints .... the portion sizes were enormous and service was slow, on a busy Sunday night there seemed to be only two waiting staff.

Once seated drink order taken and also asked if we knew what food we wanted to order and we politely asked for time to look at the menu. Whilst perusing the menu another member of staff returned again asking for our order, we then selected the Sunday roast which then arrived within 5 minutes( I guess pre plated). Although the food was very nice due to the pressure put on by staff we were seated and eaten within 30 minutes( including staff returning to whip our plates away) There were empty tables beside us, I appreciate the need to turn over the tables but jeez guys 30 minutes to eat your meal? We waited a long time to be served our starter and an even longer time to be served our main courses. We were about to leave as we were fed up of waiting only to be told that they were just plating up. The roasts that were served were obviously reheated from lunchtime and were inedible. Food very good, generous portions; reasonable prices compared to most in Charlestown which are generally quite expensive. Atmosphere was slightly dulled by a parent allowing a baby to scream unattended in a quite exceptional and persistent way throughout half the meal, not really the management's fault. They even went to the trouble of doing the Eton mess for me even though it wasn't available that night although it was on the menu which was brilliant as it's my favourite desert and gluten free. I didn't even have to ask and these days it's rare for a busy restaurant to go out of their way to make a desert just for one person. The waitress was great as were all the staff. We would happily go there. The only irritation was the noise from the next table who seemed oblivious to the fact they weren't on their own and in a public place but you get that everywhere these days.

But I have never had a situation where a Barman will serve one person in a group of 3 and decline to serve the other 2? This is a lunchtime Tuesday at 12pm. I have no understanding of anything underlying but clearly this left a bit of a bad taste . I respect any bar man who is diligent. But in my mind hugely disrespectful, embarrassing and in fact I will not ask him to serve me a pint . Clearly better off at Emily Scott’s where he said he learnt his trade

IIRC our booking was for four at 19.30 was made the previous day (In hindsight the fact we couldn't book for five was perhaps a clue, it was going to be busy?) We arrived a few minutes late, were told our table was being cleaned, so ordered drinks at the bar and set up a tab. A little after we sat down, a duplicate order of drinks was delivered to our table (which we were offered free of charge. When we ordered starters, we were told two of our choices where not available (although the waitress found out in fact there was a single 'Lamb Scotch Egg', which we took). Moving onto main course choices, we were told there was no Caesar Salad... removing two of the mains options, and on requesting another, the waitress apologised and told us that wasn't available either. My wife and I ordered the braised lamb. Mine was just edible, but not really that pleasant. My wife decided her's was inedible and sent it back. The waitress reacted well, offering several options... but later came back to say there were no meat dish options available, only fish... to which she is allergic. So my wife ate potatoes and vegetables, and we were were told there would be no charge for that, and we could have free deserts. One of the deserts wasn't available... and by this time our party agreed we didn't really want a desert anyway... so asked if we could take a box of brownies away with us, which was agreed. The waitress was as helpful as she could have been, and it was clearly a difficult time for her (I can't remember her name, but she had recently broken her arm, and was working with it in a sling). She told us they had been busy all day and many dishes had sold out. There was a feeling that bookings had over-stretched the restaurant on this ocassion... or a feeling, that as the kitchen closed for fresh orders at 9.00pm, there was reluctance on their part to cook more meat? Thank you for trying to resolve the problems but, whatever went wrong, I'm afraid it spoilt our evening on this ocassion... and we travelled home disappointed.

Waited over 30 minutes for food, when it arrived the chicken wrap was cold and so was the fish finger bap. We complained and unfortunately didn't have time to wait for a replacement meal so the manager apoligised and refunded us. Probably wouldn't bother returning.

Review of Rashleigh Arms, Charlestown, Cornwall: Nestled in the quaint village of Charlestown, Cornwall, the Rashleigh Arms exudes a charming ambiance that initially promises a delightful dining experience. However, my recent visit left much to be desired, particularly in terms of service and culinary execution. Upon arrival, the ambiance of the Rashleigh Arms immediately captivated me with its traditional charm and picturesque surroundings. However, as I settled in and attempted to place my order, I encountered a significant delay in receiving both food and drink from the bar. The sluggish bar service significantly detracted from the overall dining experience, leaving me with ample time to ponder the forthcoming meal. Regrettably, the main course, Chicken Tikka Masala, failed to live up to even the most modest of expectations. The dish arrived laden with an excessive amount of salt, rendering it virtually inedible. The overpowering saltiness not only masked any semblance of flavour but also hinted at the potential use of subpar ingredients. Furthermore, the chicken itself appeared poorly prepared and lacked the tender succulence one would expect from a traditional Chicken Tikka Masala. Despite the establishment's picturesque setting and promising ambiance, the culinary experience at the Rashleigh Arms fell short of expectations. While the slow bar service was a notable inconvenience, it paled in comparison to the disappointment of the Chicken Tikka Masala. As such, I must caution future diners against ordering this particular dish and advise allowing ample time to be served at the bar, should they choose to visit the Rashleigh Arms. In conclusion, while the Rashleigh Arms may offer a charming setting for a meal, its culinary offerings, particularly the Chicken Tikka Masala, leave much to be desired. Proceed with caution, and perhaps explore alternative dining options in the picturesque village of Charlestown.

Great range of pub food and St Austell brewery drinks. Highly recommend! However, on a recent visit we were given three different menus. Although what I chose was delicious, I'd have definitely chosen a different option from the menu that was actually on that night. Might be a good idea for you to get rid of so many different menus and if there are options you don't want for every night make a specials board.

Welcoming staff. Noisy bar but quiet cozy restaurant. Tikka massala nicely presented but extremely hot (more like a madras) and tomato based (no creaminess at all). Rest of meals nice.

Well situated, clean and modern decor and welcoming staff. Had fish & chips and a tikka which was more like a madras but still really tasty. Reasonably priced, would recommend.

Okay but could be better. Welcome was indifferent. Restaurant was cold but it was a cold windy wet day. Nibbles were good but took far too long to come. Main courses were disappointing. Aberdeen Angus steak burger was small and meat in it was a hard disk. Shin beef pie okay but a bit too much air in it and small chunks of meat. Prices didn't match quality. Nothing special.

I made a booking for 5.30pm on Christmas Eve . We had been caught up in traffic and to make sure we arrived in time bracket I telephoned the Meadery at 5.20pm to say we were just down the road and on our way. I was told that we had missed our booked table time so was given to someone else. I told the female on the phone that our booking was fir 5.30pm and was just 5.30pm. She told me it was for 5pm , I told her I made the booking for 5.30pm and was told I made it for 5pm. On arriving back home I checked the booking confirmation which stated the 5.30pm time and sent a copy to the Meadery. Awaiting an apology but know I won't get one. Over the last 30 years we have been a very good customer to the eatery but will nit be using them again. This was our Christmas Eve treat, very disappointed with the service. Can't leave any other feedback because we didn't get inside the door to try ! I have since had a reply from the Meadery. I quickly checked that our confirmation had been accepted BUT read that our table was available for when they opened at 5pm was stating their opening times. If I had read this differently I would had realised the time had changed we had , had a busy day visiting family . We are a local CORNISH family and only wished to renew old memories. We rang out of courtesy so they new we were going to turn up but could had been there for the 5pm time and were very disappointed. The Meadery soon filled the table so happy that they were not left out of pocket . Hapoy New Year to the Meadery and hope they have a prosperous 2025.

Looking for somewhere to eat whilst renovating our bungalow we have just bought in St Austell, we’ve drove past Holmbush Inn a few times but never been in. So glad we did! We were a family party of three adults, we opted for one of the specials on the two meals for £26. Me and my father in law had the Hunters Chicken, the chicken breast was both succulent and very tasty, lots of chips and salad on the side. My husband had the mixed grill, wow - it was massive and he enjoyed it very much, I had his onion ring and piece of hogs pudding which was delicious. They have a great range of drinks, very spacious and comfortable inside and the hot chocolate was delicious! So good we are going back this evening!

Love this place and have been going for 10+ years as the first stop on a Friday or Saturday morning for breakfast after long drive as part of our week in Cornwall. We normally combine breakfast with a walk on the beach. A few years ago we started to feel prices had gone up considerably but we reverted to more simple items on the menu and this feeling subsided. However, if you look at the example excert from the menu - scrambled egg on toast £9 is pretty reasonable. But to add smoked salmon is another £8 - almost double. You have to really like smoked salmon for that!!!
