Difficult to rate this one as it was both excellent and disappointing. We stayed one night on our way round the South West Coast Path. The room was very nicely decorated with everything we needed, and some nice extra touches. There was an issue with the plumbing which we reported in the morning and I’m confident it’ll be fixed for the next guest - can’t be helped. Breakfast was excellent. By far the best vegan full English of our walk so far. The 2 staff working were both excellent too. So bed and breakfast was great. But our meal the night before wasn’t. My wife had a marmite/potato dish, which was nicely presented and tasty enough, but the size of a starter and lacking something. My curry was fine, and substantial. Service was very slow and we’re still waiting for the staff member to come back with the dessert menu (we gave up after 15 minutes). Others had the wrong orders brought to them and waited over an hour for food. So, B&B - great, dinner - don’t bother.

Sadly our meal was awful & the other 4 tables around us all agreed! We have loved the Rashleigh in the past but the last 2 recent visits have been very poor. On Saturday evening we waited hours for our food. My starter never arrived. Our chorizo bites arrived twice when only one portion was ordered & we were charged twice when we sent the second lot back. The mains eventually arrived & the burgers & chips were over cooked. I had half a portion of rice with my curry. The table next to us received a ‘solid’ pot of rice & one lady never received her main course. Another table left without food. The wine we ordered was warm, both bottles. No one popped over to ask how our meal was, probably because they had already received so much bad feedback, they didn’t want to know. When it came to paying the bill all the Management had left for the night! Our waitress was very apologetic but what is happening? I went home & cancelled my next booking for the 15th May because I can’t take a group of friends to such an awful restaurant. Please make it good again because we loved eating at the Rashleigh but we will have to give it a miss for a few months & hope it improves. Fingers crossed.

On Saturday I booked a table for Sunday lunch to be sure we got a table for myself and husband and our dog. We were welcomed at the bar and shown to our table. The atmosphere was great, we sat in the restaurant, but there are tables in the bar with a sports tv if you’d prefer. Our table was perfect, it wasn’t too busy and the decor was. Lovely. Friendly staff, quick service. We both ordered the roast beef dinner. It was well presented and hot. Very flavoursome roast beef, cooked just right, huge Yorkshire pudding Seasonal veg, roast carrot and parsnips and salt and rosemary potatoes, cauliflower cheese, extra gravy. It was delicious and plentiful. Couldn’t fault it. We both enjoyed it. We couldn’t manage a dessert as the portion was good. Not the cheapest at £19.50 each. But worth every penny. Good foods are not cheap these days. Well worth a visit.

We rocked up on Sunday 6.4.25 @ 19.20ish hoping to grab a meal before heading home after a long walk. The staff were friendly and efficient. They seated us promptly. There was a good selection of beers and they had a good choice of alcohol-free beers. We were so pleased to see they were serving roast dinners at that time: most places finish serving much earlier. Three of us had the beef brisket, one had the pork belly. Dinner was amazing! So chuffed they served cauliflower as standard on their roast. We had a good amount of veggies on the side with extra gravy (in a teapot!). The staff were tentative and friendly throughout. We noticed there was a slight problem with the table near us and the customers were being very rude to all of the members of staff. We felt the staff handled it very calmly and professionally considering how the customers were bahaving regardless of the small issues that may have occurs. Seb served us: thanks Seb!

The Rashleigh was a great find for a family meal, especially with the dog in tow! The food was decent and hit the spot, but what really stood out was the friendly and attentive staff. I’ve stayed at The Rashleigh Arms a few times now. The rooms are well presented, clean, and if you’re lucky enough to get a harbour view, you couldn’t ask for more from a stay in Charlestown. The atmosphere and decor of the Rashleigh Arms truly is top notch! Whilst initially it is a bit confusing where you had to go to get a table, the issue was rectified fast enough by simply asking one of the approachable members of staff behind the bar. We arrived on lunchtime so we anticipated a bit of a wait for our food, I found that the rashleigh arms kitchen did have one of the longest wait times I’ve experienced as of yet for local restaurants around the surrounding area. But drinks arrived promptly and we kept ourselves entertained with conversation. We ordered the chorizo bites to share which were quite enjoyable and for the main I ordered the fish and chips. Whilst my food tasted very nice I can’t help but feel that it would have been more enjoyable if the food was hot, not sure if it was sitting under a heat lamp prior to being sent out, my eating companion also thought the same for their burger, the temperature of the food didn’t affect us too much, I’d happily come back but perhaps at a different time in the day. Have had some really lovely meals here so would definitely recommend if you’re thinking of visiting!

We enjoy visiting the Rashleigh Arms and appreciate the efforts staff make. The fish and chips were great- still would like a side vegetables option. We went here after lunch to have some drinks - the bar side was packed and busy - the restaurant side was empty but they would not let anyone sit on that side if not ordering food. The pub has been refurbished and looks nothing like the online pictures - we expected a place with sofas and wood burning fire but on a cold saturday there was no fire and the sofas etc have been replace by pub tables and chairs - a couple of sofas were by the door in the corridor but all of the ambiance of being a coastal pub have been ripped out. Drinks were good but when in cornwall is looking for a pub with cornish charm and ambiance this is not it - it was refurbished and could have been in any town any place any where.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy and quiet noisy which was understandable given the number of children dining with parents. The roast beef was served pink according to the menu - ours was cremated to a very dark brown, there was more apple sauce than roast belly pork, peas were hard, potatoes were barely roasted and the cauliflower cheese grey and insipid. At these prices I expect a meal to be better than a school dinner effort, shame on you St Austell Brewery. A tip to the serving staff - don't tell the customer they are wrong!

Have visited Charlestown on many occasions and used, and eaten at the Rashleigh Arms, so decided to book a 3 day stay. First Impression good, but sadly downhill quickly. Yes we stayed mid week, thus some people use the venue for work related stays. Accomodation looks the business, but we stayed in the Georgian townhouse building adjacent to the car park, on the ground floor. Thus the Harbour view was very restricted to craning ones neck to look over the building in front. Open the door to a step, easily forgotten, thus a trip hazard, likewise in the room itself. Hot water, eventually, leave the tap/s running and it eventually arrives. An old building we were told. Perhaps a pumped system would help. Central heating; window radiator had loose thermostatic valve thus not working, did manage to screw back, and told management needed fixing. If you are a light sleeper be aware; ground floor main door and staircase noisy from other residents, mentioned to management that perhaps a sign on the wall to consider others would be nice. Carpark, as they say is very up and down and not at all easy to move luggage, or indeed drive on, not that well lit either. Breakfast first day very disappointing, beware the Eggs Florentine, poached eggs hard and cold. Inedible and sent back. One area missing is for residents, unless you want to sit in the pub bar or your room. We went into the ,not very busy, restaurant area at 20.30, where breakfast is served, only to be told not sorry with a wave of the hand you have to go into the bar area. Football and not seats, no thanks. This is where the reception desk is too, so what if we had wanted to speak to the reception staff? We walked down to the sister pub and found it quite pleasant, they do have a resident area near reception, although we used a small room at the front. on leaving we mentioned all these to management, so maybe other visitors will benefit. Would we stay again, maybe, but pay for a lesser room and you'll get the view!

Great location if staying in Charlestown or St. Austell. Ample free parking, although the car park is very cobbly and bumpy. The room we stayed in was very comfortable with all of the usual amenities. We never ate here in the evening. However we did have lunch which was ok and the breakfast the next morning was very good. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. The only downside was that it sounded as though someone had fallen asleep with their tv on fairly loud, so we found ourselves listening to a shopping channel at 2am

Second time service has been shocking, after the meal we had on Father’s Day which left us disappointed due to the poor service we were assured that the problem would be resolved. Me and my partner came for a meal last night where we waited 10 minuets to be shown to our table and then a further 25 mins to be asked what we would like to drink whilst the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, really disappointing as the food was excellent as always but think this will be our last visit here for a while as service quality clearly hasn’t been resolved.

I can only review the Pub, Restaurant and Outside Beer Garden (not the Hotel). Rashleigh Arms is situated in a idyllic location being Charlestown and there is a lot of competition for food and alcohol venues as a result. However, this being a supported St Austell brewery pub means that food pricing particularly is more easy to stomach than a lot of other locations in Charlestown! But that's not to say it is "cheap pub food", surprisingly it is much on the upper market of that. Food is well served, presented and cooked, they are also very conscious of allergy requirements. Bar and table service is also very pleasant, ticking all the right boxes. Outdoor "Beer Garden" is brilliant, really roomy for lots of people and is a good sun trap with shaded areas for others. It gives a great vibe to the place overall. The only thing the garden lacked (unlike inside) was comfortable sitting chairs, at least the metal ones that is, and that's literally all I could mark them down for. Sky and TNT Sports are available on a big screen too for football, rugby and cricket. Great pub. Worth a visit, especially if you're hungry!

My wife and I spent three enjoyable nights at the Rashleigh. This was a trip down memory lane for my wife. As a child (over 6o years ago) her family holidayed at a Great Aunt's cottage on Quay Street and she had not been back since. Apparently the Aunt moved out to the Rashleigh while my wife and the family had the use of the cottage. Arriving tired after a long drive from North Wales we were taken to our room in the Annexe about 50m from the hotel. Our initial thoughts weren't too positive as we found the en-suite was basically the size of a wardrobe and many of the surfaces had black mould. However we spent the night there and in the morning we brought this to the attention of the Duty Manager. Without further quibble we were moved to a much larger room with a large bathroom in the main hotel . Well done management! Dinner in the hotel was excellent, only two minor complaints .... the portion sizes were enormous and service was slow, on a busy Sunday night there seemed to be only two waiting staff.

An unusual gripe I know, but the service was too quick to the point it felt pushy. Once seated drink order taken and also asked if we knew what food we wanted to order and we politely asked for time to look at the menu. Whilst perusing the menu another member of staff returned again asking for our order, we then selected the Sunday roast which then arrived within 5 minutes( I guess pre plated). Although the food was very nice due to the pressure put on by staff we were seated and eaten within 30 minutes( including staff returning to whip our plates away) There were empty tables beside us, I appreciate the need to turn over the tables but jeez guys 30 minutes to eat your meal? I had booked the table so we were not squeezed in!

Fifteen of us booked to eat here on Sunday 28 April to celebrate a 70th birthday. We were asked to preorder our food. We waited a long time to be served our starter and an even longer time to be served our main courses. We were about to leave as we were fed up of waiting only to be told that they were just plating up. The roasts that were served were obviously reheated from lunchtime and were inedible. We complained about the quality of the food and £92 was deducted from our bill. We probably would have eaten here again during our stay for the week but after this experience, never again.

We went for Sunday lunch, but we were running late. They kept our booking open for us, and when we told them we were now under some time pressure they bent over backwards and provided excellent service. The food was also great.

Lovely food, and great service even when it's busy. We enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the steak and tribute pie, and chocolate brownie for afters... Fab!

Food good , the service was poor. Long time before order taken, food arrived quickly. No-one took dessert order so left.

First visit & will definitely be back. Booked for dinner, 6 + 1 dog, comfortable, spacious seating area. Excellent service. Amazing fresh tasty food. Full communication regards the meat delivery that day, had 2x4oz steaks instead of the 8oz, no problems and cooked perfectly. Burger wasn’t anything special but still tasty. All in all, so glad we booked and visited, can’t wait for a return visit

Fabulous stay in the Rashleigh Arms. Taking a break from the south west coast path to recharge our batteries! Location was perfect and the accommodation was great with lots of personal touches. Comfortable bed, hot shower and coffee making facility. We ate both breakfasts and evening meals and the food was delicious. Despite being a popular and busy place, the service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and very helpful but particular thanks go to Seb who went over and above the call of duty in helping with whatever we needed - nothing was too much trouble! We would definitely like to return in the future - thank you.

Stopped by last week for some lunch, food was good, delivered promptly and delicious. Front of house staff member Seb was welcoming and attentive, offered my two boys some crayons and colouring in papers. Always a plus to have something to keep the kids occupied! Will definitely be returning, service was excellent.

We couldn’t have wished for better on our wedding day. Jacob and all of the team went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding day meal was a fantastic success. All of our guests complimented the food, the service and the venue. Despite what must have been a tough job to serve so many of us on a normal busy night, we were greeted by smiles and fantastic service from start to finish and we couldn’t be more pleased to have chosen Rashleigh Arms.

Food very good, generous portions; reasonable prices compared to most in Charlestown which are generally quite expensive. Service was good, food took time to prepare as is to be expected as it does appear to be cooked to order with mostly fresh ingredients. Excellent beer on tap, again at reasonable prices. Atmosphere was slightly dulled by a parent allowing a baby to scream unattended in a quite exceptional and persistent way throughout half the meal, not really the management's fault. As a father of three I can't recall ever hearing a child screaming so loudly for so long continuously!

Very friendly, family run cafe, which is frequented by my many of the locals. Indoor & outdoor seating. Specials board. Sandwiches are made to order & you can choose from white or wholemeal bread. Pasties are popular as they sold out the day that we were there. Cream teas are also popular. Toilets are inside cafe & are very clean.

To be honest, I went here for t one night and it was the best ever, so I changed to going here each week in the hope it would carry on. Unfortunately it seems if you go within the last half hrs of opening time they just serve the scraps left. We did go back to complain but they'd closed. The chips were covered in black bits and I've had bigger fish fingers than Thier fish. I tried 4 times and never again. Do yourself a favour and go to sanders down the road
