Amazing dinner on saturday night, the Chicken Rasal special is unreal. Waiter was really helpful with some dietary requirements. Best restaurant by far in Rickmansworth and the surrounding area.

This restaurant has gone down hill. I ordered onion bhaji , which was good, chicken tikka masala, which was poor, overly sweet and no chicken hardly, which definitely had not been cooked in a tandoor . Also ordered butter chicken , overly sweet , the chicken looked like it had been fried and tossed in without being marinaded, just bland. Added 10% service charge. The inside needs a revamp , dirty walls and urine all over the floor, ambiance was lacking , no decor , no music , Finding another restaurant.

Lamb vindaloo and Bombay aloo, super balance of flavours, exceptional . Naans perfect. Clean warm friendly. Highly recommended.

Great Indian food. Very authentic and delicious. Accommodates vegetarians and very friendly staff. I recommend the chicken curry and the Lanka potatoes!

Four of us had dinner at Rasal a few week ago. The restaurant had good ambiance, was very clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food and drinks were delivered very quickly. For me, I found the dishes very sweet. I prefer savoury and I felt there was a sweet taste to everything I tried. I know some diners prefer this nowadays with western Indian cuisine, however I feel this was too much. There was a good range of dishes with some vegetarian options and the beer was very cold. There’s an excellent craft beer shop opposite which is perfect after a curry!

Took an hour a half after they told my to pick my food up in 45 minutes, the food was dripping with grease, inedible and cold. I will not be going back there again the white bear is so much better. GIVING 1 STAR IS BEING NICE they ruined my dinner.

Looking for an Indian restaurant in Rickmansworth, we came across Rasal. It looked busy, we took this as a good sign. It was a Friday night & we had not booked. After a short wait, they fitted us in. The menu was something special with many choices including specialities from Bangldesh. I chose a chicken dish listed as 'hot' - it was superb, really tasty, garnished with chillies and onions. We had a cucumber raita to go with the mains - it was amazing! Frothy and light, very unusual. Unlike some restaurants, the plates were properly warm, the food was bubbling in the dishes and served on a heated stand that worked very well. We enjoyed the Bangla beer to go with food, a beer I had not seen before. Service was polite and attentive. We waited a while for the food to be prepared but I can say it was well worth it. Definitely recommend a visit.

Service was not great. It took 2 hours for food to be served. We were not the only ones that waited this long. It wasn't busy. The food was ok, but we have had better meals here before. The staff didn't seem happy either. There was NO soap in the toilets, they had filled the soap bottles with water! Wasn't a great experience.

Been a regular customer for some time now both dine in and takeaways. It’s a great local Indian restaurant and I would recommend highly. You can ask for how spicy and hot you like the food and Shab will try to accommodate on special dietary requests. Give this place a try.

Terrible service and waiting time. They kept telling us 5 minutes and then an hour and half passed since getting the drinks, the waiter then swore at us when we tried splitting the bill

The food was average with all the meal’s being dry with little sauce and lacking in flavour. We have been to this restaurant before and it was a good experience with really good food but it would seem that tonight being a Saturday and a not overly busy that they could not cope. We waited for over 50 minutes for our meals to arrive and even this seemed to cause the staff a big ordeal. Literally each of the four mains came out one at the time and the fourth meal at least five minutes after the others, the same happened with the rice being brought to our table one at a time as-well as the bread and side dish. Because of the time it was taking for people to get any food in front of them the noise in the restaurant was very loud with people talking ( mainly the same topic, how long is the food taking?). The flavour of the food was ok and to be fair the staff were polite but seemed overwhelmed with the task of serving people within a reasonable amount of time. No apology for the delay was given. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this restaurant again.

Very slow service waited almost 2 hours for food. When it came to the bill our waiter swore at us when splitting the price between the 4 of us which then ended up being overcharged. Don't usually leave a review but feel I have to on this one. Do not eat here.

Didn't have to wait very long for the delivery to arrive. Large, delicious portions. Would certainly recommend.

Visited on a Saturday night and the food was excellent and the service attentive. Each dish was subtly unique and distinctive in flavour. Good value for money.

Food was good, service was quick and polite

I have never been treated so aggressively and rudely by waiters before! We booked our table well in advance so we weren't "walk-ins" but were made to feel unwelcome and a nuisance from the start. From the moment we walked in there was no greeting or smile. As soon as my friend sat down they came to take the order and when we said we weren't ready they told us to hurry up and that they have a big table coming soon and they needed our table. They then let two other sets of "walk-ins" be seated which we thought was strange if they needed our table so desperately. The food took 30 mins to arrive, which was fine with us, but then to bully us into eating quickly was not on. The manager came over half way through our meal (we were not eating slowly) to have a go at us for being too slow and that we'd messed up his table seating. The large table of men buying loads of alcohol who were there for the same length of time as us were not hurried along at all. It was clear that they just wanted to make as much money as possible, with no care for the actual enjoyment of their guests, cramming people in or being fine if you bought loads of drinks. The bill was brought and the receipt thrown at us with no thank you or goodbye. There is no way we will be returning here and we will be spreading the word for our friends not to either!

Friendly service, and food quality was excellent!!!

I have been going to Rasal for over 20 years. It is the best food and over the years I have taken many people there. Friends, family and they have never been disappointed. Best Indian food around!

Excellent food, very tasty. Service was a little slow but there were 12 of us so it is to be expected. Very good restaurant, would definitely recommend

Food was good but very slow getting it

The drinks and poppadoms came up very quickly but then we waited an hour for our starters which were acceptable at best. They were heavily underseasoned and dry. After this we wondered where our mains were as it took another 50 minutes. As it turns out they probably cooked the curry for this long as the chicken breast in the curry was beyond dry and hard. As well as this, the plates they gave were dirty and greasy (which were replaced). My naan hadn't been served and when I asked where it was the waiter got defensive and said I hadn't ordered one. They did however supply a free vegetable curry. As a wholethe food was bland and tasted like it was microwaved and certainly not worth the wait.

Early evening so only one other person dining, ordered a king prawn dupiaza and it was spot on, if you’re in the area give it a try

Just moved to the area and was looking for a nice India restaurant What a disappointment. The food was good ! But the service was awful. The restaurant was almost empty but it still took 20 minutes to be served and 40 Minutes for our food to come. Staff were unfriendly and unwelcome. Also very expensive for bad service same !

Great place to enjoy indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. great atmosphere and service and also do great catering service definitely going again loved it. Does get busy at times and sometimes just have to wait a it a little longer for your order to come which I don't mind because the food is worth it. Because the amount of flavour that is found in such dishes take time to really cook and give you that authentic taste that you probably won't find if you were to make it yourself. I know because I've tried and failed lol. But really and truly really do love Rasal for its food.

One of the best curry houses we have visited - the service is warm and friendly and the food is always a very high quality. One of our regulars!

Probably the most tasteless curry I have had ! The chicken biryani had no flavour and greasy as was the chicken Bhuna. The meat in the Sizzling lamb was tough .Poppadoms were soft and overall a major disappoint after reading some positive reviews .. sadly won’t be returning anytime soon !

Banquet Night is amazing value. The food is always great and the beers available are decent. A regular place of mine to go for a good curry

Great Indian restaurant that's just as good every time we go!

I have been there about 5 times over the years. My last visit exceeded my expectations. Prevoulsy I had found the food to be well cooked but slightly underwhelming (read: bland). On sunday I had one of the best curries that I have eaten in years. Other members of our party made similar comments. I am looking forward to my return visit.

Extremely disappointed. My wife had been praising this restaurant for many years. The first time we went to try it and we didn't even get to order any food. 60 mins to finally get a waiter to take our order, at which point we had had enough of waiting. We asked how long the food would take and the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said "erm about 45-50minutes". Not a very good first impression.

One of our favourite locals for a great dinner, nice wine and good service. We look forward to coming here constantly and appreciate that fantastic food cooked fresh can sometimes take longer. The staff, beer and wine make for a lovely evening and is our first choice for sitting in or taking away. Thank you Rasal, will see you in a couple of weeks!

The best Indian restaurant in the area by a mile. As a family we have been going to Rasal for over 12 years and always had amazing food and friendly service. Yet another top meal tonight! Chris M.

Staff rude and rolled eyes at me when I asked if we could order food and drinks at the same time because we had been waiting 40 minutes for our drinks to be ordered. Arrived at 7pm ate at 9pm .... food was bang average.

Not what it used to be. Waited 2 hours for our main never to arrive, after which point we walked out and paid 25 pounds for a couple of papadams and 2 beers. Manager was highly defensive and rude towards us claiming it was our fault as one member of our party arrived later. Will not be going back there and would not recommend for a sit-down meal as many others were also complaining that they put takeaway customers first.

Extremely poor service. The staff were rude and customer service was non-existent. The quality of the food was acceptable, but it took nearly 2 hours to serve. Would not recommend.

Awful service. Took 40 minutes to order a drink and then didn’t get said drink until an hour of being sat down. Food took forever to come. We were also squeezed onto a table and had no space whatsoever. Arrived at 7 and only left at 9.45. No apologies for poor service or any offers of free drinks. Safe to say I’m NEVER eating here again.

Just been to order a takeaway but the staff couldn't speak very good English so the person behind the counter asked me sit down he didn't have a clue then another person Appeared and asked me for my order again So I said don't worry you're obviously too busy and nobody in the restaurant to take my order so i walked out

Arrived and not a smile offer to take coats. May as well have been a canteen. The food was lovely but waiter didn't say a word. Felt like they couldn't wait to get us out of there. Lovely food top class but customer service could do better.

We eat here regularly and love it. The menu is has a mix of old favourites and lots of new dishes,plenty of variety. Never had a bad meal here..fully recommend trying them out.

So impressed every time we order a take away delievery from here. Such a friendly professional team. The food always arrives hot, full of flavour, so tasty and generous portions. We are always so impressed with everything and the food is really enjoyed every time we visit!

Food was average. Wait time was ridiculous, even though it wasn't busy at all. Waiter was incredibly blunt and didn't bother to refill drinks etc or check on us. With a bit of good service and friendliness I'm sure this would have been a different experience.

The food was nothing short of amazing, the wait was bordering on criminal. Kudos to the waiter for apologising as we were leaving but there were opportunities to explain to us beforehand.

I was a little apprehensive to visit Rasal after reading some of the comments on here but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was really good and the food was absolutely delicious! The staff were also really great with my 3 year old daughter and overall we had a really good experience here. I guess it’s each to their own but I would definitely recommend and return.

Consistently excellent food at reasonable prices and generous portions. Curry along and be happy !

The Rasal is a regular Indian restaurant with a typical Indian menu. I find that with Indian food, different flavours and different curries appeal to different people. What might taste delicious to one, is too spicy to another. Notwithstanding, the food at the Rasal is flavoursome and fresh. On our visit the atmosphere was a little stilted, but this is due to the social distancing. The service is efficient, without being over friendly. We have always enjoyed our visits here without any complaints.

Good food generous portions. Good, efficient service. Screens up between tables to enable appropriate distancing.

We ordered a takeaway for my husbands birthday .....absolutely delicious!!! Meal arrived before expected time by a lovely delivery man...great service, would highly recommend and will definately be using again ..many thanks.

this is the best Indian around i haven't been for 3 weeks i miss it i go with my brother and dad we love it it amazing i recommend chicken bhuna, lamb dupiaza and chicken madras and chana Masala a i could name list. this is amazing i would totally come here it is great service with good chatty waiters

Paneer tikka, kahari chicken (proper bits of chicken) , bombay aloo, mushroom bhaji, veg naan.... Fab flavours, have eaten in and had a takeout this week... Both very tasty

Decent enough food but expensive for what it is.

Worst service ever experienced, and I have experienced a lot!Customer care almost zero. Gave up waiting for our meal after over an hour. Several other customers complained. One gentleman was heading to the kitchen to find out what was happening. If you fancy an evening out eating poppadoms, don't mind being ignored and enjoy watching take away orders come and go, then go here. Sorry, we won't be back!

When the food eventually arrived after 45 mins it was tasty but ruined by a service and rudeness of the staff,we used to enjoy coming here a couple of years ago but never again.such a Shame as it could be such a nice restaurant in a lovey little high street.

I agree with previous comments that "The problem is with the service."On a saturday night, we were seated at 7:15 p.m. but were unable to attract the attention of the one-and-only waiter until about 30 minutes later.Eventually somebody took an order on an iPad but nothing happened until after 9 p.m. when we walked out.The one-and-only waiter either could speak English or pretended that he couldn't, but most likely just didn't care because this kind of treatment is dished out to customers every Saturday night.At one point he appeared to be saying that we were 6th on the queue, at another point he appeared to be saying that he "forgot" our order and at another point he lied about the cost of the drinks.The menu is impressive although a little pricy, and their priorities are clearly take-aways; about 20 were prepared and dispatched in the time after we placed our order.Can't comment on the taste of the food because it never arrived.This might be a good place for take-aways, or for dining there mid-week - but think twice before trying to use it on a Saturday night.

Terrible service. Terrible attitude from staff. Seen the waiter eating the food from our plate when he came to clean the table. Waited ages for the food. Keep being told that they are busy and we have to wait longer. Being busy is not an excuse. Never go there again. Waste of money and huge disappointment for the night.

I must admit we didn't book for our meal but turning up early (7.15ish) we thought we could get a table, 15 min wait and we were seated.After about 20 mins drinks were ordered along with 2 popadoms they turned up about another 20 mins later, we managed to finish the drinks and popadoms even before they came and took our order, we were on the borderline of walking out due to the wait. The food finally arrived and it turned out not to be for our table but the people next to us, food when it finally arrived about another 10 mins was lovely and tasty but the service was crap. One of the tables next to us had to wait about 20 mins just to pay, the tables were very tightly packed and I think the restaurant was trying to juggle too much. I do like this restaurant and food was great but they need to up their game on service and maybe refuse people instead of thinking of the money in the till and trying to please everyone.

We have been struggling with this restaurant for a few months and tonight was the final straw. We ordered a take away at 7 and was told it would be ready to collect at 8. At 8.40 we left the restaurant with a full refund as the food still wasn’t ready, what’s more the manager Saj spoke to my daughter like a total masoginist. I’ve never experienced worse humility for a female in my life. Please do notpatronise this restaurant if you have a female in your party.

Went into restaurant tonight at 7pm ordered a take away and told to come back for 8pm (pre-paid).The food is good so we were willing to wait. Went back to the restaurant at 8pm and waited... and then waited some more. By 8:15 and no sign of food understandably became more frustrated. At 8:30 still no sign of the food, I asked to speak with the manager and unfortunately he was incredibly rude. Being a young women, I was disgusted by the way I was spoken to. I questioned why the delay and told that food takes time. I tried to explain that although I understand food takes time we had been told the food would be ready for 8. I was spoken over and shouted at, I have never met someone quite so unwilling to talk to a women. My father stood by and watched the way I was being treated before feeling the need to step in and ask for a refund. The real sad thing being we have been loyal customers for years! In the end my father stated to the manager not to speak to me in the manner he had and requested a refund. This was even more farsical, took 15 minutes for the manager to refund the £80 we had spent!

Food ok but I dont think they really wanted us there!

We have been here on a number of occasions and always had Great tasty food, this time unfortunately the food was excellent but after a long wait for it to arrive and the service was very rushed and staff didn’t seem to care about us and only interested in the big parties that was there.

This is a really good Indian restaurant. Nothing fancy, but very good curries and starters.nice spices, decent amount of kick. Tender meat not drowning in ghee.sort of food my parents would make. Service is a bit confusing, loads of waiters ask you the same thing, or came to take orders when you had already ordered. Some communication between the team would be helpful - but not an issue moaning about - although i just did.

Can’t beat the Rasal. Great service and curry. Book in advance for the staff curry it’s unreal. Cheers lads!

Terrible service.. incredibly long wait for food and we had a child in our party, and the staff were unbelievably rude. Argued that we ordered a dish that took a long time even though they had not told us that a)on the menu or b)when we ordered. The worst service I've had in any restaurant in a very very long time

We have been going to this restaurant for many years not every month or every week . Our mother decided to take us here this evening . she Telephoned and booked earlier on this morning and asked if we could have the window table. we’ve alway had for about 12 years he will see what he can do. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 . The restaurant had one client we asked for the front table and the waiter said no it’s booked .we said nothing we just sat down. My mother asked do you have new owners and their waiter said no it’s the same Owners of 21 years time. We felt pressurised in ordering we wanted to have a chilling out evening but we found tonight they just wanted us in and out. Cut a long story short we finished our meal very disappointed with the service the food was good but very small portions . to amazements no one sat in the window .we would never go to this restaurant again

“Good things come to those who wait” And wait we did. By the time the food came out I’d grown a full beard and Santa had been and gone twice. Lovely food when it eventually arrived.

I have said before, in my experience, I have found this to be one of the best Indian Restaraunts I have ever been in, including India. More recently we were treated to some of the staff curry, on the bone chicken with potatoes. Well what can I say, the most tasty and satisfying curry I have ever had. Give it a try, but be sure to book in advance, so they make some extra for you. Enjoy!!

I regularly visit or get a takeaway from Rasal and have always found the staff and the food to be outstanding. Tonight I had for the first time a chicken biriani and it was beyond outstanding!!! Highly recommended restaurant and takeaway. Thank you Rasal 👍🏻

I have been going to Rasal's for years and always enjoyed the spicy treats. The place has recently had a refit but despite the change of decor the Indian food remains a treat.

What could be better, on a hot summer’s night, than a delicious meal at Rasal.

Nothing out of the ordinary but good service and nicely composed meals in the Indian tradition. Good quality for those who like tasty Indian type food. Recommended.

Overcooked lamb, chicken is okay

Well cooked indian food (by the way, its not a brasserie!) Helpful staff. Good to eat in or take away.

Food was very good and we normally have a takeaway. However, having had a bad experience a year ago and vowed we would not return to the restaurant, we were persuaded to revisit by friends. The staff were so indifferent and we had to constantly ask for drinks. We waited over an hour before finally flagging a waiter to take our order as a table who had come in after us was about to have their order taken. It was very busy, particularly with people collecting takeaways and you could not hear yourself speak. So not a great evening. I will also say to really check your bill as this was not the first time there were items on it we had not received. They need more staff and maybe put the visual customer first. As I said, the food was lovely, a bit pricey but the staffing let it down. Probably stick to takeaways.

Delicious food and great service. Would highly recommend. We have been here numerous amount of times and we have never had a bad experience. Would recommend booking a table as it can get very busy.

We had a table of 6. Everyone’s dish was absolutely delicious. All piping hot as cooking when it comes to the table. Good selection of wines also. Only negative was it gets very noisy if too busy.

Hadn't been here for a very long time. Won't wait that long again. It was busy but we had booked which I would recommend. The menu was varied , definitely something for everyone, and the food was so good. Would recommend Zuzu chicken. The only observation would be a need for another member of waiting staff as only 2 working and they were constantly distracted by phone orders.
