Really lovely meal with great service from the friendly staff. I can definitely recommend the fresh summer rolls and the pho which has deliciously tender beef with a deep aromatic broth. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to guide us through the menu as it was our first time. We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in the area!

The food was okay - I had the special beef combo. The meat was tender, but the soup wasn’t light at all, I couldn’t finish it as I normally would and felt quite sick after the meal. The real issue, however, was the appalling service. When we were ready to order, the staff told us to wait while they continued peeling garlic, which was bizarre. Our jackets were wet from the rain and since the chairs were so small, we placed our belongings on the empty chairs next to us. The restaurant was pretty empty, yet when two other customers arrived, they were seated right beside us and we were asked to move our jackets and bags, I had barely any space to sit. We went up to pay as they were totally inattentive. I questioned why they had to place those customers so close when there were plenty of other tables available, they gave some nonsense about the tables being reserved - despite no one else being there! I think the staff realized how ridiculous it sounded and eventually apologized, but the overall experience was still awful. To top it off, the flush and hand dryer in the toilet were also broken. Definitely won’t be returning.

Awful service!!! The restaurant was empty, but you hardly got the waiter’s attention to get our order. In the middle of our meal, the waiter asked us to move our bags so that he could give away the desk next to us to other customers. In the restaurant, 80% of the tables were empty. We didn’t understand why he had to use the table next to us. He was so arrogant without any apology for the trouble. The worst part was he made up excuses by saying he had reservations for other tables. We all knew it was not the truth. It was over 8 pm on a rainy Tuesday night. We seriously doubt he will be able to sell all the tables. Also, the noodle soup was so salty!

Special beef combo Pho was amazing! I finished every last drop, it was so delicious. The homemade lemonade was also just perfect for my taste. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. Only negative was the music was quite loud so felt like I had to shout a little to have a conversation.

This restaurant is a solid 4. Despite it being half empty, every guest was asked if they have a booking and to wait while a table is being prepared for them, but at least they don't turn people away. Hospitality there is pretty matter of fact. Don't expect charming chats with anyone, just straight to the point service. When I asked for some flexibility with one of the dishes I was told that fair and square it is not happening. Not going to go into details, but when food is prepared in front of guests, I'd advise the use of gloves at all times... The interior is ok, again, nothing that made me melt. Pho is one of my favourite dishes. The broth usually needs to be kicking! This soup did not kick sadly at all. No sauces at the table either to spice it up a little bit. The garnish or fresh vegetables to be put on the soup were scarce especially for the price. I ended up putting the garnish from the summer rolls into the soup to make it at least a little bit more filling. If this was a slightly cheaper place I'd definitely give it five stars for Id have lower expectations, but otherwise I can't justify making it better than 4 stars and I am being super generous here. It does the job when you are hungry, but certainly does not deserve the hype.

First came to Rao Deli when its site opened in 2017 and was a regular up until the pandemic. For some reason haven’t eaten there in a couple of years. Came back this evening, it’s still exceptional. Will not be waiting years till the next visit. Thank you !

The best Pho in town! 🥘 The meat is just delicious and it all tastes very homemade. The spring rolls and peanut sauce are nice too. The main waiter is also very knowledgeable and polite. Atmosphere is nice, however depending on where you sit you might be a bit close to your neighbouring table.

I had summer rolls to start. They were exactly as I wanted; moist, full of vegetables, and served with a tangy sauce. I had a tofu and rice dish for main course, served with a tomato based herb sauce. It was very tasty, not greasy, and a large portion size. To drink I had a lemon/lime type juice. The service was attentive and the food arrived quickly. It is a cafe style place to eat your meal and then leave, rather than linger for a long time after eating. It was not expensive. I would definitely go again.

Very very very very good Vietnamese food

We had the most delicious meals of our 4 days in Barcelona at Rao. The ceviche, scallops, octopus and patatas bravas were our absolute favourite dishes. Their deserts are also great. We had the chocolate ganache and creme catalan which were equally delicious. I will definitely visit this fantastic restaurant again next time I’m in Barcelona.

The best broth bun bo hue I’ve ever had….hope this place is not becoming too popular as I don’t wanna be on the queue..! Tried bun bo hue, beef roll, pork belly rice..it was all good so we cleaned the plate.. Definitely worth trying!

“Vegan food doesn’t really have flavour” as our waitress shared last night when I asked for some type of sauce to add to the vegan pho I ordered. We ordered 4 mains and three of them were not eaten. The ‘Mama’s own recipe’ noodle salad tasted like a can of tomatoes poured over puffed tofu and overcooked noodles. Bland, overcooked food combined with slow and unhelpful service- would not recommend as it was positively laughable.

I had an early dinner at Rao Deli at around 5:30 PM. This marks my first visit to the restaurant. For my meal selection, I opted for a spring roll and vegan pho. The experience was exceptionally delightful, and I found every aspect to be impeccably enjoyable.

It is so so good and tasty for steam chicken Pho, wow hot food in very cold weather, i am highly recommended to everyone can eat spicy and hot soup. This could help you again cold and fever. Highly recommended

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in London.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect! This has been my go to restaurant for the past couple of years. Perfect place for a hearty, homemade dinner. Friendly staff all round serving delicious meals made with love. Authentic recipes with each dish - just can’t go wrong! If it’s your first time coming, please do try the flash fried steak. It has a rich, flavourful broth with excellent cuts of meat. I could go on about how perfect this restaurant is but I’d say you should just go ahead and give it a try! Ps. If you’re in the area at lunch time, please go next door and give “ Lò Bánh Mì” a try! Definitely won’t regret :D

I come here regularly with my wife, with family members and sometimes on my own. The food - both the pho, the bun bo and the rice dishes - is excellent. The guys who own and run it are charming, friendly and really welcoming. It's a great place to have nearby, the best pho I know in London and I love eating there

Oh boy, where do I even begin with this Vietnamese restaurant? I went there solo a 18:00, all excited for a scrumptious meal, but they seemed to take "party of one" way too literally. They gave me a table in a sad, deserted corner, as if I was about to perform a one-person show for the empty chairs. Maybe they thought I needed some space to dance with my spring rolls, who knows? But hey, on the bright side, the food was delicious enough to lift my spirits! So, if you're feeling like a solo superstar and love tasty Vietnamese dishes, just embrace the spotlight at the sad table! 😄🍜 Ps. Pho just isn't the same without that missing chicken! 🍲🐔chicken top-up needed her :)

I’ve already left a 5* review for the restaurant that serves pho and other Vietnamese food: The ban mi baguette bakery next door (sister restaurant) is also truly 5*. We had the house recommended special with pork belly and chicken liver. The flavour is mind-blowingly moreish, and the bread is perfectly fluffy inside with a crispy outside. Delicious!

A cute, no-fuss Vietnamese cafe serving noodles, rice and salad dishes. Food is authentic and there's great flavours. We ordered the tender chicken pho and bun bo hue. Soup broth was delicious in both but would have liked to have seen more meat and more bean sprouts and vegetables as part of the dish. We also ordered vegetarian spring rolls which were crispy and filled to the brim on the inside. Prices are very reasonable and serving sizes are decent. Would return to try desserts and would definitely recommend!

Decent food, lovely staff, good prices

Awful service - it took over half an hour until we could order and when the food arrived it was not spicy as ordered. The fresh chilis we ordered never arrived. Eatable but I most certainly won’t be back!

I recently dined at the Rao Deli restaurant in Elephant Castle, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is located in Borough High St offers a cozy, casual dining experience that is perfect for both solo diners and groups. I love it

Service was soo slow. My friend and I had to wait 20 minutes to get my order taken, by that point other customers had left frustrated after waiting longer still not having their order taken. Food was average, but should not have taken 20 minutes to prepare. I came on a weekday evening but the place appeared understaffed even though the place was not full.

We come and eat here every few weeks. The staff are so lovely and the food is delicious. Highly recommend!!

They had a baby chair, so it was very good point too. 쌀국수도 쌀국수지만 점원 참 친절했음. 과도하지도 않고 무심한듯 상당히 사려깊고 세심했음. 아기랑 와서 아기의자 놓기 좋은 자리로 마련해주고 아기 음식 뭘먹을진 모르겠지만 뭐든 먹을게 있으면 먹으라고 빈그릇도 하나 가져다주고 메뉴설명도 중요한부분만 딱 해주고. 참 인상깊었음. 아참, 쌀국수도 맛있었음. 여러가지로 참 사려깊어서 편히 맛있게 푸짐히 먹다옴.

Best noodle soup I have had in London

I’ll start by noting I’ve lived in Vietnam, cook Vietnamese food often. Didn’t go in expecting absolutely authentic Vietnamese cuisine, but expected some minimum standards. The pho was good, with a flavoursome broth. Noodle however was a bit soft. I’ve had many ca ri gas. The chicken ca ri ga tasted weak and watered down. The portion size was very small and not good value for £11. Arguably a child’s size portion. The waitress who served us was very pleasant and courteous. However, there was a floor manager/owner who was putting us off ordering, assuming our tastes, and wanted to control what we order - advising us against our preferred spice levels, and against ordering dessert, assuming it would be too acquired for us…

You will not regret eating here. The beef pho was unreal. So many flavours.

Excellent food. Relaxing atmosphere

Located a bit far from Borough High Street, I don't imagine it gets as much foot traffic it deserves. If you're in the area and crave delicious, flavourful food, this place is a must visit. My wife and I ordered 2 phos and a couple starters. When the pho came, I asked for hoisin and sriacha sauce and was turned down, I was ready to pounce on the opportunity to judge the place poorly. However, not only have I eaten an amazing meal, I've gotten to eat my thoughts as dessert. The meat has a great flavour by itself, and the broth has so much complexity to it. It does not need anything else. Heck, if I was to add sauce to it, I would be taking away and masking the flavour the dish presented! I will definitely be coming back!

Lovely little restaurant, very clean and friendly service. The food was gorgeous, the summer rolls were fresh and really tasty and the vegan pho and veggie curry bun were incredibly tasty and very generous. I’d definitely visit again.

Their tofu summer rolls honestly taste better than the prawn summer rolls. If they serve with nuoc cham, it will deserve 6 stars because it is just absolutely authentic! Minus 1 star because the service is absolutely toooooooo sloooooooow!

The broth is delicious - the best I've had in London, and probably out if any pho place, period. Recommendation: try the flash fried steak broth. It's unorthodox, a Rao creation, that you won't regret choosing. Smokey, rich broth with tender steak, served by a friendly and helpful staff. Really relaxing atmosphere. Many people come here to eat alone - a testament to the relaxed atmosphere and worth-travelling-for food. Easiest five stars I've ever awarded.

Best Vietnamese restaurant I have ever been, the Pho and spring roll were great. Trust me, I tried lots of Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver but this one in London is the best.

In UK, I have no fuss or complaints with Vietnamese food but I found myself avoiding it in HK because the quality and taste is so different from UK. The ones I like in Hong Kong are Fuhn and Chua Lam's Pho because they taste just like the ones in the UK so basically North American Pho style. Rao Deli is another decent place for pho in London with its hearty beef bro and slow cooked beef. Went here twice because it was that good. On the first visit, I had the tender boneless chicken thigh and on the second visit I had the original slow cooked beef and rare beef. Tried the broth first on the first visit which instantly got me hooked because of the strong herbs yet the broth was clear and light free from a layer of oil. However I felt that the broth was different for the chicken and the beef which called for the second visit for the beef. Both were equally as good and I must say their beef was impressive as I only eat good beef so polished all the beef from the bowl as it was tasty and fresh. My favourite was the rare beef which was tender and delicious. Vietnamese pho can get really spicy towards the end so I like to have my chilli served separate. The tip is to add a few pieces of chilli and take them out asap when the broth has your desired level of spiciness.

Honestly from my heart, I've not been as happy in a restaurant for an absolute age. I originally visited Rao 3 years ago before the pandemic hit and it was great then so I was absolutely delighted to see it had survived, had a refurb, was open for business and what joy that it has survived because the food is utterly utterly sensational. The food has a wonderful balance between delicate and punchy and every mouthful was an awakening of senses. Sweet, salty, spicy and sharp, it all made my eyes roll in delight and I kind of got high on it all. This is down to one of the partners Ryan and his team providing great service and undeniably beautiful food. Rao is special, it's Vietnamese food at it's very best and I absolutely encourage you to try it. I traveled 200 miles to go to Rao and other than seeing family it was the main reason for my visit so I hope you're getting a feeling for just how magical this restaurant is!

Curry is very watery, the potatoes were boiled before putting into the curry but not cooked with the curry. The noodle salad dressing is pretty much tasteless. Try to avoid ordering these two.

Probably the best PHO ive ever had. Never goes wrong and the taste is very consistent. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area. Prices are very good and they don't take service charge. Lovely little place indeed.

Used to regularly come here for pho and bahn mi when I was in high school. Now I’m graduating from university and the food here is delicious as always. Btw the new dessert with red bean and jelly is sooo good.

I had their fatty brisket pho soup. The broth was super rich and and satisfying. It was made with overnight bone broth. They didn't chince on the meat. Highly recommended!
