The fish was like 2 smaller pieces together with the centre of fish missing. Chips was miniscule to say the least for a large portion and not the best at all far from it. Not again I would rather pay for delivery from Retford.

Absolutely vile, one of the greasiest chip shops I’ve ever been to, chips like mush and sausage was like wood

Having not been to the village chip shop for a few years and knowing it was under new management we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was really nice, fresh, hot and tasty. The haddock was lovely with no skin and a light crispy batter. The chips and sides were really good and the portions very generous. It was great to be able to support this local business and we returned a couple of weeks later. At our second visit the food was equally good and I had the chip shop curry, which is really tasty, and I was given a little pot of the Chinese curry sauce to try. I have to say it was equally good and I would be happy to eat either. We were also given a complimentary mince pie which was a really nice touch. I hope this business does well because they certainly deserve to.

Came to pay with card,but had the wife's and forgot p.i.n,but they let me take the order and trusted me on face value to come back and pay Which obviously I did how kind of them and the food was excellent large chunky cod fillets and fluffy potato chips everyone enjoyed Many thanks 5 stars

Excellent fish and chip shop. Good service, nice and clean and great chips. Tried some coley tonight and it was lovely, slightly nicer taste to cod. Hope they keep stocking it, as it is a better alternative to cod.and haddock.

Went to Ranskill Fish and Chip shop the other Saturday at around 6pm on entering the shop before I could place an order the girl behind the counter said she had NO CHIPS left - it was a Stuarday night and the only real decent Chippy nearby to us - I generally thought the female was joking but no a Fish and Chip shop with no Chips on a Saturday night - this shop is straight opposite the Blue Bell Pub - I feel they would loose out of trade and put people off going.

Bought 4 Fish, Chip and Mushy Peas meals Friday 15th Feb. I can only say they were fantastic, best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Will definitely be buying from here next time. You can also pay by card which is a bonus. I hope this review has been useful to you, if it has, please let me know.

This is our local fish and chip takeaway. We had 3 fish and chips tonight, first time in a couple of months. The only okay thing on the plate was the beans. The fish was over cooked and the chips were like cardboard. We not be back in a hurry!!

Had a great lunchtime fish and chips at the Ranskill Fish Bar. The cod was freshly cooked and there was plenty of it. Would definitely recommend.

I have reviewed this chip shop before and given it a good review. However, things have gone downhill. The last couple of times there has been a very, very long wait to get your food and last time the fish was so greasy that by the time I got home I had a puddle of oil on my car seat. It used to be a great chip shop but I will go elsewhere from now on.

This fish bar asks when customers arrive if they need fish, and they are cooked to order. Therefore perfectly cooked fish every time.

I gave a 5* recommendation when first tried in October....but had a poor experience when ordering over the phone in November ( so agree with the last posting) ...haven't used until tonight ...didn't risk ordering over the phone ...so handed a list...it seems the training of the junior staff still hasn't improved as the order was incorrect again.( two customers complaining in front of me regarding incorrect orders which the junior staff member laughed off as "having a bad day"..fish beautifully cooked hence a 2* rather than a 1*...but the chips cold...we live literally live 3min drive away....

Have been visiting this chip shop for years and the food is always great, but I have noticed that the staff have changed one of the owners is now working in the shop and the service has DECLINED!!!! Arrived on a Friday evening was expecting it to be busy but there appeared to be a totally lack of organisational skills. There were 6 customers in front of me when you enter the shop you are asked what fish you want. What is the point if the fish is not going to be cooked until you are at the front of the queue. Those people who had rung their order through were told they had to wait in the queue and place their order again. What's the point? Wasn't asked if we wanted salt and vinegar and after 40 minutes I just wanted to get out of the shop so didn't bother asking for salt and vinegar A shame but won't be returning will be trying one of the other local chip shops in future

Just moved into the village & this was our 1st meal in our new home.Freshly cooked fish crispy batter, piping hot chips , scraps (bits) & mushy peas.....mmmmmmm

Just like Grandma used to make Fish and Chips cooked in beef dripping, the taste is to die for, well worth a visit, good portions and piping hot. Friendly and poliet staff. Good value for money

Lovely staff that are always smiling. Love the food. Always tastes fresh. Good quality fish and Good prices too!

On entering the premises you don't get the lovely smell of Fish & Chips.....just the really hot smell of old hot oi.l.

The fish and home made fishcakes are always of good quality. When not busy they cook to order so the food is always piping hot and fresh, the chips are good and not greasy as in some fish and chip shops, overall I would definitely recommend this one.

Chips are about average of what you would expect from a chip shop, the fish cakes i find are overpriced, the fish i tried here was nice though!

We had fish and chips from here several times whilst doing our house up with no kitchen - needs must! Always fresh and tasty and served with a smile. Highly recommended

It is surprising how many chip shops fail to deliver - happily this is not one of them. Fish is delicious and whenever we go it is cooked to order. They even gave us a free sausage for our dog!
