Trevlig miljö i typisk engelsk landsbygdsstil. Väldigt trevlig personal och riktigt god och vällagad mat.

Have been meaning to visit for years and I did for my mums birthday. We were a party of 4. The staff couldn’t do enough for us to ensure the birthday was perfect. When we arrived we were shown into the lounge, with a wonderful roaring fire, for drinks until we went to our table. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented. We were all very pleased with our choices, they were all fantastic.

We had a family lunch for 13 on Good Friday. We had a perfect day. The lunch was for my Dad's 90th birthday and the attention to detail was fantastic (eg he likes Chianti but they didn't currently have it on the wine list so they just obtained some specially; they also played his 1940s playlist!). We had a semi-private room which was ideal because we all felt part of the sympathetically restored ground floor, with its comfortable bar area, flagstone floors and huge open fireplace. We were also able to have drinks before and after in a decked area behind the hotel which had some lovely flowers in pots. The food was of a high quality, and the service very attentive.

Very nice evening meal and breakfast. I think this was very good value you paid for what you got and in this day that is important as all good food is relatively expensive its the value that comes with the price that is important and we got that at this restaurant

We went,as a group, for lunch, a mix of meat eaters and vegetarians and we were all catered for brilliantly. Some had the full Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings and some had a lovely Wellington filled with fresh mushrooms, spinach and butternut squash. There was also stroganoff or sea bass. All were served with really fresh vegetables and everyone’s meal was really hot when served, something that is sometimes sadly lacking when catering for large numbers all at once. There was a choice of starters and desserts and we finished off with tea or coffee. Lovely surroundings in this olde world restaurant. Highly recommend

In was visiting a local farm and always stop at a greasy snack on the way to the farm. On this particular day the weather was appalling and also 7.30am on a Saturday morning. I was perplexed and very hungry and suggested to my colleague that we drive around to find somewhere to get a breakfast. We were out in fantastic West Sussex countryside but no big villages near. What was I to do and was now grumpy with hunger when I passed the Random Hall hotel. Quick u turn and then into car park. Parked and walked into the hotel fully expecting the usual we have not started serving breakfast. I was greeted by a very helpful lady who said no problem, sat us down and then produced one of the nicest breakfasts to fortify my morning. Could not fault, hot plates and proper tea in large tea pot. Also introduced to her new puppy and melted my heart. Hotel has had a proper makeover and has atmosphere and big fires. Loved it and reaffirmed my belief in the service industry. I was made to feel genuinely welcomed.

I was away with work on business and staying at the next door B&B (also amazing). They recommended I come down here for dinner and I wasn't disappointed. As a woman dining alone due to staying over for work, I am always filled with nerves and discomfort at eating alone. However from the moment I walked onto the premises I was greeted with a smile and polite conversation in the car park by a staff member running an errand and then the same by the waitresses. I was made to feel completely at ease and the food was incredible too. Would 100% recommend this resturant

We just got married at the Random Hall and we enjoyed the food very much! Trust a French person (and her family) when I say the food was great! I highly recommend the mushroom and thyme vol- aux- vents in the buffet menu, but all what I had was delicious. The evening before our wedding we had dinner at the restaurant with all my French relatives and all enjoyed the food very much, like we would in a good French restaurant.

We didn't stay at the hotel but ate in the restaurant one evening. The food was first class & nicely served. My husband had the braised blade of beef which he said melted in the mouth & I had the sea bass, which was cooked to perfection. The hotel is a popular venue for weddings & on being given a tour by the friendly & welcoming owners, we can see why. Would certainly recommend & regard a bill of £71 for 2 lovely courses each, 2 large beers, 2 vodka & tonics plus coffees as extremely good value.

Random Hall happens to be my local hotel, but not a restaurant I frequent. However, we were being treated to dinner. We were disappointed on arrival not to be shown to the cosy bar by the fire for a pre-dinner drink and taken straight to our table by the door in an empty restaurant. Very effusive welcome by the young waiter, but his habit of starting every sentence with "Ladies and Gents..." did wear thin. We know we are ladies and gents and don't need this reminder every time we are asked a question. A rather old-fashioned menu was proffered with a fairly safe range of dishes. I ordered a grilled goats cheese starter which was pleasant - not too difficult to produce. My husband had pate, which looked OK - just a bit of a meaty slab but I guess that's pate for you! The main courses were generous portions and all tasted excellent. My mum in law and husband had Moroccan tagine which was full of flavour as was the couscous presented with it. My steak was good - tender and tasty. I opted for ice cream whilst others had more elaborate concoctions, all looked very inviting. The lady looking after us was very good - experienced and knew just the right amount of attention/fussing. A nice evening out with nothing too exciting or outlandish to scare the locals! Probably a nice place to bring older relatives who appreciate this kind of setting and service which is fairly traditional.

I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. If I am ever down that way again, I know where I will be staying. Location wise, it is ideal if you are going to Brighton. Booked this Hotel as near to Wedding venue which we attending on Sat 29 August.Arrived slightly earlier than planned and had already advised hotel that we would require a light lunch.Upon arriving we were told that they were clearing up after a wedding that they had held the day before. there was a lot of evidence of this so we ordered some drinks only to be told that the bar had run out of beer and many other drinks. we ordered tea and asked to see the menu and ordered sandwiches and had a wait but it was very good when it arrived. We were shown to our rooms and were very disappointed , where the hotel is situated they can charge a premium as there are not many hotels in the area.Overpriced and sadly in need of work, the bathrooms were tired and not a 100% clean and wooden toilet seats not very hygienic ,enamel peeling from the bath and shower screen rusty.Breakfast - no one around to inform what was available , other visitors advised us , slow service. There seemed a general lack of staff around and when we came to pay just a disaster!Nothing worked (blamed previous wedding bride and groom) for flooding the electrics! Not happy and delayed our departure considerably.Overall what looks like someone's house from outside was a disappointing experience and we felt an expensive one.

We came To Random Hall for my mother's birthday for afternoon tea. The china tea cups were dirty and my mother's cup had dried rice stuck in the bottom of it. We didn't complain about the crockery at the time as the tea itself was poor. The scones were prepared with an artificial cream and smear of jam. The selection of cakes were all chocolate cupcakes - just with different toppings .... a raspberry, a strawberry and one with just icing sugar. My father doesn't eat chocolate and so when I asked the waitress for a selection of cakes rather than just chocolate cupcakes she said that the chef had only made chocolate that day due to a wedding and the bride had requested this. I explained that the menu had said 'selection' and serving cupcakes that I could have made with my 6 year old niece was far from acceptable. The waitress apologised and said that the manager would take £2.50 off each person and they wouldn't charge for what my toddler had eaten (she ate a sandwich off my plate and refused the cupcake). It was a really disappointing experience and we left promptly as a cup of tea and sandwich was hardly worth waiting around for. The waitress was friendly and apologetic but we won't be returning any time soon.

Lovely venue for a wedding. Good food, great service although the bar service could be a little faster and training in people skills would help too (we repeated our polite request for a drink only to be told to 'calm down' - would help if they had listened to us in the first place). Their till didn't help either as they needed to keep restarting it which only added to the frustration for those waiting in the queue. That aside, it's a really good venue which created a lovely atmosphere.

My review of Random Hall is positive and well deserved. Jackie provided, exactly, the planned function we had agreed on at our initial meeting. It was to cater for 15 adults and 5 children, with a midday lunch to celebrate a significant birthday milestone. It all went extremely well and the food was delicious and well presented. From the pre-dinner drinks to the coffee post meal, we were looked after very well by Jackie and her assistant who doubled up as bar-maid/waitress. Although we never saw the chef, his presentations were excellent and very well enjoyed by all our guests who were impressed with the venue and the service provided. Were we just lucky on the day to receive the welcome we got ? Or are our requirements/standards lower than everyone else ? The answer to both questions is NO ! We were catered for in a very light and airy part of the restaurant, by caring efficient people, keen to enjoy their day as much as we enjoyed ours. It may be that some parts are looking tired and past their best, but I and 14 of my adult guests did not notice them and I am sure we were not all wandering around with our eyes closed. Thank you Jackie for your attention to detail and serving up a Bank Holiday Monday afternoon lunch to remember. Would I use this venue again ? Yes. Do I live locally ? Yes. Had I been to this restaurant before ? No. Am I easy to please ? Best not to find out if you get it wrong !

We visited Random hall three days ago to try out dinner we had never been before and live locally, however after our experience at random hall we will never visit again. Firstly when we called to make a reservation we spoke with a women who knows broken english and gives the general impression that she could'nt care less if we had dinner at her establishment or mc donalds. Her poor discourteous telephone manner and lazy attitude was sadly confirmed on visiting what appeared to be a tired restaurant. She showed us the table and sat us down. My salad that i ordered had a hair in it which was a rather unpleasant surprise. The main course was duck to follow which was nothing special overpriced and no where near the price we were asked to pay when I could cook better at home and believe me when i say i am no michelin starred chef! The beer i ordered was in a glass that tasted of neat detergent so i had to transfer it to another glass. Also strangly the bread and butter turned up after the starter which seems a strange way of doing things ! We were then told to pay cash for the food as they had no internet and the machines had stopped working i explained we planned to pay by card and was given a piece of paper and told to write down my card details which i refused to do. This was met with much disgust from the waitress the same lady who answers the phone takes orders and seats people in the restaurant ! Perhaps she cooks the food as well ?? No wonder she seemed unhappy. We were then reffered to the manager nigel who seemed fairly reasonable and by contrast to his rude staff seemed like quite a decent bloke. We agreed they would call us the next day for payment however this was not before the suggestion that we drop cash off to them the following day much to our disbelief!!!! I would not recommend this place nigel is a nice enough chap but everything else does not represent paying money for on any level. I also felt sick and had a stomach ache the next day who knows what that was?? Safe to say we will never return .....

Our visit for Sunday lunch was a great disappointment. The restaurant is tired, lacking in any style or ambience and urgently in need of redesign and refurbishment. My view from the restaurant was the back yard with an old toilet and skip filled with old bathroom furniture. We were in the restaurant from 1 to 2.15 but there were only three other diners. We asked in advance for our vegetables to be well cooked but they were served "al dente" and our meals had to go back to be properly cooked. Our waitress announced to the only other couple in the restaurant that she had a bad cold and considered that trade might be improved with better advertising. Business will only pick up when Random Hall offers value for money. The service and food were otherwise acceptable.

There's a fair bit to like about this hotel including the location and surrounding countryside and a look at the website promises a superior experience from the rooms to the service to the food and wine. However, whilst nothing is really that bad, the reality does not meet expectations hinted at on the website. Room was pretty good although hot water and Wi Fi signal absent. The food was well cooked and presented but very overpriced. The bottled real ales were kept refrigerated which is a bit like serving warm champagne. Breakfast was well cooked and service excellent (unlike dinner).

A BIG THANK YOU to Jackie and her fantastic team for a wonderful night! Having been let down big time by a less professional establishment, we booked Random Hall for a belated staff Christmas party in January !! All the arrangements were effortless, with nothing too much trouble. We were greeted with a roaring log fire and a glass of fizz in the beamed bar area, before moving to the fantastic vaulted function room for a delicious 3-course dinner. The food was superb and of the highest quality which shouted 'restaurant standard' instead of 'mass catering' (46 of us). I don't believe that there were any left overs! With the ground floor of this atmospheric hotel all to ourselves, our guests had the option of dancing away to an excellent DJ in what is normally the hotel restaurant, chatting at the dining tables or settling into the comfy leather armchairs in the bar area. Something to suit everyone! The unanimous verdict was that it was the best staff Christmas party we have had, so no surprise that we have already booked next year's party !!

This is our nearest restaurant - 200 metres walk - so we chose it for this special occasion as it did not involve driving. The whole event exceeded our expectations as we commenced with a drink in front of the log fire, ordered our meal and wine, when it was ready we were escorted to our table and dined on sirloin steak cooked to perfection and our favourite dessert - sticky toffee pudding. Espresso and liqueurs followed. Other resident guests were happy to engage in conversation. In short a great night out - and all for under £100.

Our friends invited us to join them for a Sunday lunch. How civilised, a drink before lunch in comfortable surroundings. My husband commented that the wine was reasonably priced for the restaurant. Friendly, jolly service, then through to the restaurant. Tables spaced out, so you can have a conversation, without having to shout. The room was light and airy. We skipped starters and went straight to the main course. The men had the Roast Beef, with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. We ladies had the Seabass fillet with new potatoes. Veggies for the meals were served separately. We all agreed it was very good. My hubby had the apricot and brandy dessert and I had a very sufficient cheese board, with 3 cheeses, biscuits. Grapes and celery. We all felt that it was a real Sunday treat. Good for family reunions. Has a car park and. pretty garden. We look forward to eating there, again.

Nice enough pub, with a reasonable drinks selection and friendly staff. We visited for a family lunch (on recommendation) and the place is very geared up for food. However, the food is absolutely dreadful: over cooked, bland and (in the case of the bao buns that I had) inedibly dry. Seems very popular, for reasons unknown to this visitor.

Unfortunately we felt on this occasion the food really was not up to the usual standard - whitebait over cooked - chips not their usual crispy delicious standard - but everyone has an off day and we said it would not deter us from returning HOWEVER we found out as we were leaving that after 14 years of trading the Orchard is due to close at the end of September 😔 So sad as , as a family some who are no longer with us it was always are “go to” place for a good quality home cooked meal . So what ever the owners plans are for the future we wish them good luck 😋
