Unfortunate first experience at Rajput. I ordered via phone at 6.50pm for a takeaway and was told it would be ready for collection in 30-40 minutes. I arrived at Rajput at 7.30 and I was told “1 min the next order is yours”. I then went on to wait in the restaurant corner for over 40 minutes for my order to arrive! When I chased the manager, he did not even answer me. Food was mediocre and tailored to British rather than authentic Indian; and definitely not worth the wait . I can’t comment on the dine-in experience but I would strongly avoid take-away. Disappointing that the manager was so un-interested in my situation.

Dropped in with a couple of friends to avoid cooking, one evening in the gap between Xmas and New Year. The place was close to full with a large group (12 or so), having a reserved table We ordered a starter each and a variety of meat-free main dishes along with a vegetable biriyani and a plain nan. All the vegetarian dishes, chick peas, aloo gobi, mushroom, even the biriyani tasted exactly the same, a bit bland with no hit of flavour.

After a day of pubbage and watching QPR, we fell on this place like starving animals. They carved us out a space (as we hadn’t booked) and took great care of us. And the food (from a very traditional menu) was lovely - spicy and in generous portions. A happy find and one we’d return to.

They also have lots of great vegetarian options as well! The staff are so incredibly kind and welcoming, which really makes eating here a wonderful experience. The prices are great too, you could easily grab dinner for yourself for under £20. Since our regular or 10 years - Chilies of Brackenbury - has sadly tanked of late, we have been auditioning other indian restaurants in the area. After our first tryout with Rajput, we may well settle here. Food was exceptional and only surpassed by the level of service. It was running late but - for the first time in my delivery curry experience - the restaurant called me to apologise, before I had a chance to chase. Even with the need for old-school ordering by phone, we will definately be eating from here again. And looking forward to eating in as well!

This traditional English-Indian Restaurant has been excellent for longer than most of its customers have been alive. At the weekend, it's vibrant with families and during the week it's quiet and gentle: the staff (family) will chat. A wounderful chance to experience the kind of service usually associated with very high end hotels or committed to by- gone days. The food sits in a tradition established in the 1970's. Recently discovered after being introduced to this restaurant by some of my friends who are also local to their area who have also commented of being loyal, longstanding and regular customers for almost a decade. Whilst I was treated to their food one evening on a special occasion for a big celebratory event as a foodie treat, I must admit it was one of the best Indian food I've had in years as often times they've fared quite mediocre and average at best from my past experiences! Worst dining experience I have ever had. We came here last week on a Wednesday and knew that this place offered frill-free good tasting food. We had been before just over a year ago and had no complaints. This time was all together different. We ordered a butter chicken main, having had this dish many times before at other restaurants. It was so sweet, it could have been a dessert. We were sceptical on seeing it, because it was so bright in colour. On this basis, we only tried a little bit of the sauce. Once we realised how sweet it was, we didn't want to eat any more. The manager came over to ask how the meal was. We told him that everything else we had ordered was delicious, apart from the butter chicken. Because it had not been described as sweet on the menu and because we only had a small amount, we asked that they take it off the bill. This is where the fun starts. He refused, saying it wasn't his problem that it was not to our taste and he definitely couldn't re-sell it. Sorry - you mean you're not going to flog our second hand butter chicken to the table behind us? Knock a pound off the price, surely they'll have it? At this point, he has armed crossed and in no particular order, claimed the following: We were full and had too many poppadoms which is why we didn't want the dish It was described as sweet on the menu (it wasn't) I had been in 3-4 weeks ago and complained (hadn't been in over a year as said above) He said if we wrote a bad review that was untrue, he would sue us (I laughed out loud at the point) This exchange lasted well over 15mins, to the point where it was embarrassing for us and him in a restaurant that was not empty. Only after another customer said that that the whole episode was ruining his evening and it was his first time at the restaurant, did he agree to take it off the bill. Frankly, we only persisted because of the succession of ludicrous lies he told about the product and us having been in there before, being full etc... It wasn't even about the dish in the end. I have never encountered such appalling customer service and will not be recommending anyone visit this restaurant. If you do go, don't order the butter chicken, or just smile and comply if you're asked how your meal is.
