Indian Zing in Hammersmith and Fulham

The kerala fish stew and chicken biriyani are amazing. They use top-quality ingredients, and the dishes are never greasy or too oily - cooked to perfection. I'd recommend this restaurant for an authentic Indian experience.

We decided to revisit this restaurant after a visit last year. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. The service was appalling, the food average (chicken was very dry) and other people in the restaurant were literally shouting at each other across the table rather than speak like regular people would. We booked a table and when we arrived we told the server who simple pointed at a table, no hello, no pleasantries. We then waiting for menus before another server appeared. We ordered popadoms with the dips and 2 main courses. I had the biriyani and my husband ordered the Malabar chicken curry which he said was quite dry (the chicken). Before we'd even finished the popadoms the server came and took them away, whilst putting down plates for our mains, it was so abrupt my husband was actually still eating. The noise in this place was extraordinary, I couldn't even hear my husband when he was talking to me across the table because of the level of noise. I appreciate that a restaurant with an atmosphere is great however when people are shouting at each other from across the table it doesn't make it much fun for other patrons. We asked for the bill having eaten only half of the food, no one came to ask if everything was OK, to be honest we got the impression they don't care whether you're enjoying your time there or not. We got the bill, the same "mute" server who we spoke to came with the card machine, said nothing and we promptly paid and left. Absolutely disgusting service. We won't be returning here and I hope that the people who read this will be treated better than the way my husband and I were treated. In addition, people smoke directly outside the door, which when you’re a non smoker, is gross.

We had a lovely meal at Indian Zing. We ordered the fish curry, chicken jalfrezi, vegetable biryani, aubergine side and okra side, a plain naan and a garlic naan. There was plenty of food and we were stuffed. The biriyani was AMAZING! I would go back just for that and the elderflower and apple muddle I had to drink. Nice restaurant (listen out for the smooth jazz in the background). The toilets were spotless and the restaurant is in a good location, right near Ravenscout Park tube station.

Ama-Zing! Ok, apologies. But this really is a sensational restaurant. Service was brilliant and incredible attention to detail (I can’t eat fresh coriander and each dish was tweaked so I could eat it). Food was beautifully flavoured and the meat quality was excellent. The staff were charming and when i asked for doggie bags to take home the food I couldn’t finish they added a rice course! Above and beyond excellence.

Indian Zing is one of our favorite restaurants in London. We have been coming to Zing for several years and we cannot come to London and not have a meal at Zing! The food is consistently excellent, the ambiance is classy but not pretentious , and the service is also usually excellent. We always leave satisfied and wishing it wasn't over, but looking forward to our next dining experience there. If you like Indian food, you must try Zing!

Best Indian in London! I had been meaning to try this out for a long time and finally got round to it — it did not disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food was truly exceptional. I’d recommend the Hirva masala and the Lamb Rogan Josh, as well as the Malai chicken starter.

Visited Saturday night and what a meal. It has been months since we have eaten here and we were not disappointed. We actually over ordered and had some lovely leftovers for Sunday ! Starters - Samosa delicious with chickpeas and tamarind relish and Vegetable Bhanola the Zings version of onion bhaji but better with a nice blend of tamarind chutney and relish. Mains - the Prawn Biryani was fantastic, the prawns were plump and seasoned nice with a bit of heat. The dish filled with flavour and beautiful rice. Shahi chicken Korma - succulent pieces of chicken breast with a great cashew and saffron gravy. The staff are all so friendly and engaging making you feel at home. Highly recommend

The food is the best in london. Mr Roy is an asset to the team. What a professional, and very funny. You can tell he really cares about the customers. Will be back! We love this place.

Lo reservé para la cena con mi marido y mi madre y puedo decir que es el mejor restaurante indio en Londres, incluso mejor que Gym Khanna. Sus platos de cordero son excepcionales y el servicio fue fantástico. Nuestro camarero era Rahul y era tan amable y conocedor de los platos. En general fue una noche especial y sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Indian Zing should be on any food lover’s tasting trail of london. Chef-owned restaurants deserve to be in a category of their own and Zing is perhaps the finest curry house in the city (save yourself the hassle of queing up for Dishoom). I last visited 12 years ago and the experience of the charred King Prawn dish has stayed with me ever since. To my great joy I returned this evening to find it is still on the menu. Celebrating its 20th year, Zing is truly deserving of its multiple listings in the Michelin guide. Simply stunning!

A lovely place with good food, attentive service and distinctive character. I might almost have given it a five stars for atmosphere as there was certainly a nice feel to the place but it didn't quite have that contagious buzz that really good restaurants have, but this may have been down to the clientele that particular night and I may reconsider when I go again (which I most certainly hope to do!) The menu is strong, with original ideas combined with a fairly traditional core. None of that recent trend in Indian restaurants switching to utterly indecipherable dish names, leaving you guessing what you'll get. The dishes are a good size and presented elegantly.

Had a fantastic lunch today in Indian Zing on King Street, Hammersmith. Food was excellent - a great chicken curry (Zing Chicken Hirva Masala), good naan (sure test of an Indian restaurant!) and one of the best chicken biryanis we've had in a long time. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I have been eating in Indian restaurants in London for 45 years. This is without a shadow of doubt the best by a mile. It beats the fancy plated Tamarind, Benares, Veeraswamy, Chutney mary Michelin bore temples by a country mile. Real food, served properly, cooked expertly and sensibly. Lovely people, great atmosphere, incredible food. We ate in again tonight but they also have a superb delivery service which never fails.

Great food and very friendly staff.

I went there after receiving a recommendation, but it was really bad. The food was okay. But the staff attitude was rude and impatient. There were 5 people and we ordered 3 naan and 2 rice, but they said there wasn't enough so they forced us to add 1 more rice so we had that much left over. The menu does not have pictures, so if you do not want to have an unpleasant experience, we recommend that you study the menu in advance.

Totally love Indian Zing have been coming here for over 12 years Always my last stop before I go back to the US, and this year we actually went two nights in a row there, always fabulous. Service is always attentive, and discreet cannot say enough good things about fabulous Restaurant, highly recommended!

What a great place! I had never been before and found it through a Google search. I went with a friend who is vegetarian and we shared the Goat Cheese Tikki as a starter, which was delicious. Then we dived into the Kadai Artichoke and Paneer (lovely) and the Banana flower and Colocasia leaves Kofta (so tasty!), which we enjoyed with ginger rice and the most delicious Peshwari naan. My taste buds were so grateful. And to top it all, the service was friendly and the vibe good. I will most definitely be returning!!

I had an upset stomach for 2 days!!!!! The restaurant is NOT that good! The waiters ignored you! In any event I will never go back and sob to wish them well!

I’ve been to Zing before and returned to introduce their excellent food to a friend. Lovely dips with crunchy poppadums, fab prawn and chicken starters followed by a chicken korma (friend) and a prawn dish for me accompanied by rice and naan all washed down with the really good house can sauv. My friend is now a convert and we’ll be back.

My wife and I invited five friends to lunch today. None of them had ever eaten at India Zing. We are regulars and have been for a very long time. We love the food and the friendly staff. Our friends were so impressed with the quality of the food and the service that it reminded me of how lucky we are to have this excellent restaurant. If you eat in a restaurant frequently, as is the case for us with India Zing, it is easy to forget why you are constantly returning. Our guests were so enthusiastic with their praise that I felt that I had to write this review. There is no better Indian food available in London.

Delicious and unpretentious yet in an elegant setting … service is fabulous and Kerala fish stew is a MUST

Went here with my dad on our last day in London, I wanted to try the Indian food here since I heard it’s better than in the states, and it was! I got chicken tikka masala (it was not on the paper menu but you can request for it) and my dad got one of the lamb dishes though I’m not sure which one 😅. For desert I got the rasmalai which was also good even though I was nervous to try a desert with cheese in it.

My wife loved the food. She thought that the flavors were complex and the selection of ingredients interesting. I was less enthusiastic; I thought the flavors (except spiciness) were too subdued. The lamb in the Rogandosh was very tender but lacked flavor, though the sauce was good. We agreed that the Meloni Tarkari was wonderfully fresh and well flavored. The Raita was also quite good. The Nan was not good, even when it was first served. The service, though attentive, was not at all friendly. The music--a sort of fiddly guitar with occasional vibes or trumpet--annoyed me. It certainly doesn't deserve to be called jazz, but was more intrusive than your average elevator music.

We have traveled a lot and I always feel I get the best Indian in London. Again Zing is amazing. The Lamb Rogan was savory, the Sabz Paneer Nilgari Korma and Dum Gohbi matter were excellent too. Great service as well!

I originally tried Indian zing because we couldn’t get a reservation at Gymkhana. In hindsight, I see how flawed this approach was. Indian Zing is its own remarkable experience. You just have to get past its flaws - and there are only two. The first is the setting. Not very elegant and certainly not transportive. It was also too cold in the restaurant. Then there’s the name. Indian…Zing? Seriously? It almost sounds disrespectful. But then the food comes and you see how serious they actually are. Serious about sending you to some sort of fragrant and savory nirvana, that is. Steaming and delicious dishes come out in small copper bowls and pots : Malabar chicken, lamb biryani, channa masala, spinach - all fresh and succulent. It was wonderful. With all due respect to the competition, namaste right here at Indian Zing!

If you think you know top Indian food, visit here and think again. Fantastic food and service. I am guessing the only reason they do not have a Michelin star is because there is no bar area. This takes Indian food to a whole new different level.

I’m getting fed up with restaurants advertising drink in a certain size bottle and then only having the half sized bottle at works out at more than a pound more to buy two small bottles instead of one. This restaurant is the worst I have come across, having been there five times in the last year, never having the advertised sized bottles on sale. I think it’s sharp practice to have these on the menu and never have them available. The food here is good but I’m voting with my feet. I’m sure other people feel the same. Take the stuff you don’t sell off the menu.

Hammersmith is very lucky to have a great selection of Indian restaurants. This one is the best! Where else can you find Bengal Lancer 🍺 Disaster 😱 no more Bengal Lancer!!! I've had to go down to 4* because of this.

I had an amazing dining experience at INDIAN ZING. The warm ambiance and exceptional hospitality made for a perfect evening. The menu is a culinary delight – I highly recommend the Lamb biryani and it was flavorful, beautifully presented and very delicious. The service was impeccable, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Indian Zing is a gem, and I can't wait to return!

Wow my husband has been raving about this place - he plays Bridge at the YC around the corner. I went last night & the food & service were off the charts cannot recommend enough & suggested they open in our area Paddington W2 - please!

Just amazing from the minute we walked in the door , the lovely ambience , you walk in as a stranger out as a friend , the nicest staff and owner imaginable warm & welcoming . As for the food it was just beyond amazing the best Indian meal we’ve ever had so good we had to go back on night two of our three night holiday here could not fault one thing from starter to dinner to desert and lovely good quality wine , don’t even think about it just go here even if you have to travel it’s worth it you won’t be sorry

The food here is nothing short of stunning. The service is friendly and quick. The crab starter is a must try and the malabar chicken does not stint on the chilli. Portions were excellent, you leave satisfied but not bloated. If I could give this restaurant 6 stars I would.
