Fabulous food. We made a list minute visit after being let down elsewhere. Really tasty food, a little different from the norm. They have no licence, so bring your own. For us not a problem.

I have been coming here since I was a child with my parents (thank you for all the little chocolates I was given growing up) now I’m 22 and still have yet to eat a better Indian! I would recommend the Korma I never stop here without getting one (cannot put into words how delicious the korma is btw), although nothing on the menu will disappoint. Everyone I’ve recommended this place to have agreed it’s the best Indian they’ve ever had!! Honestly cannot beat it 10/10 will always come back here <3

Great first experience at Rajpoot. Friendly service, great menu. Pretty quiet for a Saturday night but not empty. Nice to take your own drink and push the boat out on the food. Vindaloo was amazing. Hot enough but with lovely flavour. Great naan bread as well. Will definitely be back

Very bland , no taste of spices or anything , even got the wrong rice from what I ordered

Friendly service, only realised it was a bring your own alcoholic drinks after we had sat down though so a bit disappointed about that. Ginger ale was a bit tasteless and flat. Food nicely presented but mine although advertised as hot, was a bit bland, as was my husband’s order. Clean and pleasant surroundings but probably will give it a miss in future. Not a fan of bring your own drinks although I’m sure it was advertised as such. We were hungry and in a hurry so probably didn’t read the website properly.

We have been to the Rajpoot a number of times over the last few years and have never been disappointed with the great food and the friendly service, can't wait until the next time.

Went for a birthday meal here, the first time for some of our group. Lovely meal, absolutely delicious flavours. Lovely staff, very helpful as we had a peanut allergy & were cautious of what to go for. Nothing was too much trouble. Bring your own drinks (alcohol) Will definitely be back! Thankyou

Went last night (New year’s eve) lovely food serviced by very attentive staff. Didn’t wait long for food. All serviced warm and tasty. Could not recommend enough. Will definitely visit again.

This is my go to Indian when in Ilminster. However they do need to learn how to make a real raita and mint chutney.

Over priced and below average food

It's a shame I really enjoyed getting takeaway from Rajpoot as some of the dishes offered are vegan/veggie. The food we had tonight was absolutely disgusting. Poppadoms were stale, all food was cold, the Dahl had a strange taste and the chips were crinkle oven chips. Portions were small and we had to wait over an hour for delivery! We are so hungry and could not eat the food as it was horrible 😔 Now have cook some food after a really stressful day. I phoned and yes got and apology but was only offered 10% off my next order. I don't feel this is good enough and feel we should of got a refund or freshly cooked food. We won't be supporting your business any longer! What a massive disappointment 😞

Our first visit has been impressive. It has a 5 star food hygiene rating, which was a major factor in choosing to eat there. On arrival we discovered a cosy well decorated restaurant, with friendly waiter and delicious food. Poppadoms, bhajis, nan bread, vegetable rice and two main courses (Raj Roast Masala and Raj Rezotti) with drinks for £49. Well worth it. Alcohol is not served, but customers can take their own booze without paying extra.

Both mine and my partners food were contaminated, my partners had hair in hers and mine had a half ripped Tesco sticker in it. I refused to pay full price but they were reluctant to give a reasonable discount and tried to blame me and my partner for their error almost denying blame and laughing at our complaint.

Recently under new management. Delicious food, friendly staff. It's bring your own booze, which is a bonus. Would highly recommend. A charming night out in Ilminster.

We went on a Monday night and were the only people eating in, hence the score for atmosphere. That said, the food was very good and the service (not surprisingly) was excellent. Portions were sensible by our standards but those with big appetites may be disappointed. They don't have a license to serve alcohol but don't charge corkage so take your own wine or beer and save a small fortune! We'll certainly be going back.

Done an order last night and what we got was shocking, onion bhajees was rock hard, curry tubs was only half filled, sagg paneer tasted like a korma.. We normally order from here and ita always nice so I'm really disappointed with what we got last night

Order taken efficiently ( so I thought ) these guys can cook and their food is really good. Delivered on time and with a smile , can’t fault the hard working drivers that are trying to make a living and I take my hat of to them. My 2 star rating is down to internal communication , maybe when you ask for something and say it three times and after 4 deliveries , and it still doesn’t get through to the kitchen staff ( who are only working to order ) the management: owners need to at least read this. I’m a fan of your food and I really want you to succeed but come on ! Get the specific request fed back to the chefs please. This place is great overall. But wish they delivered what was requested Many thanks A loyal customer Ps. Worst indian in my area by far. Looks like a cafe rather than an indian. No atmosphere like most Indians, unable to have a beer and food was very basic and tasteless. A spoonful of rice with your dish. I hate writing reviews let alone a bad one. Sorry guys but requires a massive improvement.

Must be the worst Indian meal we have ever had, ordered 4 meals for delivery, after 90 mins we phoned only to be told order was on its way, which it obviously wasn't as we waited nearly another 45 minutes. The food finally arrived and what an absolute disaster, the portions were small, green curry was overly coloured by food colouring, the butter lamb looked like it was in swimming in milk and cream, just a white mess! No flavour to any dish all very oily even the parathas! Never again.

The food and service were both excellent, the only draw back was you can't buy a drink, you have to bring your own which wasn't really a problem but it would be nice not to have to carry bottles in with you, other than that I would definitely recommend it

I had a takeaway from the Rajpoot last week, and I was very pleased with the result. My utterly favourite Indian food is southern India; idli, channa masala Puri, Dosa, Vasai etc. So I know good Indian food. And although the Rajput only has a couple of these dishes, the dishes I ordered vegetable curry, tarka dahl, and Hyderabadi Khana with papadums and chapati, each different dish was fragrant and delicious in it it's own way, so that I had the clear experience of each dish, instead of all the tastes merging into one! The chapati was soft and fresh, not over cooked and the rice was also nicely cooked. All in all, a lovely meal. I can't wait to try other dishes! Please think about masala dosai for the future!!

Absolutely awful. Ordered a takeaway on Friday night. Chicken Tikka Naga Madras. Got plain Chicken with sauce poured over it and extra chilli powder. Could have done better myself. Haven't used this place before and won't be using it again. Back to the Balti House.

Had a very nice dinner - tasty, generous portions and everything seemed really nicely cooked and freshly prepared, no gloopy sauces! The lime pickle was very nice!

We like garlic! So, ordered the 'Mussels, garlic and creamy sauce' Result - no garlic and a tomato sauce! Next was Murog Malai 'Grilled chicken coated with melted cheese and chopped garlic' Result - No cheese, no garlic on 1 skewer of chicken @£4.95! Not good. Poor value at £1 per small lump of chicken! We then had three curries which were OK but lacking flavour. The small saving grace was the Garlic Nan and the Peshwari Nan, which were delicious. I'm sorry but this will be our last visit to Rajpoot. We will not be recommending.

Highlight of the takeaway delivery is that the food was very flavoursome, so I am sure as soon as we can eat inside the food will be just as good. However on delivery they were not so great, ordered and it said 55 min for delivery, 1:15 past and no delivery so rang, the lady who answered confirmed the food was ready and about to leave. An hour later the food finally arrived the driver did apologise but said he didn't leave as early as the woman in the phone suggested. unfortunately the food was luke warm at best upon delivery. Highly disappointed on the delivery service but as mentioned the food was very flavoursome. Just need to tighten up on delivery

With due respect i think they were swamped by the demand as it being NYE ,to start with it was an hour late but by some of the other reviews it was better than some ! I had the butter chicken and as you can see from the pic it was one lump of gloop , and only just warm the onion bhajees were luke warm so oily, the keema naam was pretty much cold , my partners food was only just warm enough to eat .as a treat for the end of a horrible year we didnt mind spending over twenty pounds , but now we feel robbed of half our weekly shop for nothing . In these times im all for supporting local businesses but in this instance i wont be ever again !

Good food but watch their prices when they give you the bill!!

My partner and I, since moving to the area always used the other Indian in town. In recent weeks we have eaten in the restaurant twice and had a take away delivered. Each time we have had a different main meal, and each time cannot fault it. The Sunday buffet is amazing value. Staff are welcoming, and not over bearing. While writing this I have received confirmation of my next booking there for tomorrow.

Raw chicken and under Cooked rice and naan bread have been feeling sick since I eat my curry today ..

We had dinner for two here over the weekend. It was without doubt the best Indian meal I have had for years. Quality, taste, service and atmosphere were all great. We had the Sunday buffet (all you can eat). So we totally stuffed ourselves while saving around 50% of normal cost too. I would highly recommend trying this place. I will be returning soon. 10 out of 10

Evening dinner after a long day of walking and exploring the area. Range of dishes ordered and all were excellent, one of the best meals of our holiday. The restaurant is not licensed so you need to take your own alcohol. Friendly and attentive staff with advice on the dishes if required.

Ordered for the first time tonight and we were so impressed, fantastic food brilliant delivery and the person who did the delivery was very friendly. After having a meal from another home delivery Indian we were sceptical but we would recommend and will be using again. Well done Rajpoot!

Bit too average, better options around.

very poor service, ordered and was told it would be 50 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later I call for an update- it will be a further 15 minutes. They apologised and stated they were very busy and the driver couldn't go fast because it had been raining. All they offered was an apology for it taking literally double the time quoted. It finally arrived two hours after ordering- will not be using them again. No discount offered on the bill, but they would add a complimentqry item with my next order, ugh no thanks.

My wife and I were on holiday nearby. We spotted this restaurant and asked if there was a table for 2 free. Luckily there was. We were made very welcome and the service from the owner and the waitress was great. The food was top notch. The whole experience was so good we were back the next evening! This time we booked!

We ordered a take away for collection. Friendly people. Garlic chicken curry very good, naan, and onion rice also good. Bhajis ok ish, The veggie samosas looked pale and mass produced (looked like Cosco samosas). They were not nice at all. The butter chicken though was something else- never seen in my life a white Indian butter chicken. It was truly awful. We called and they changed this to a tikka masala which we collected again. This was also a big let down- extreme artificial red, very sweet (do much added sugar), dubious and inconsistent chicken - couldn’t eat it. All In all despite niceness of the people there, the food is just not good enough

We had an amazing meal from Rajpoot Tandoori Restaurant . We live a little way out of Ilminster but when our food arrived it was lovely and hot and it arrived on time . There was more than enough food for us and as I said it was amazing . I would highly recommend Rajpoot to anyone .

On our way back to London we stopped here for Sunday dinner. Had a delicious meal: veggie Meyami and Special Jalfrezi Balti 👌🏼 Really happy with our choices

I had the miss fortune to visit this restaurant Saturday I thought I was in a working mans cafe the picture on the top of the website showing nice table cloths nice seating was not how it was bare tables long wait and food was of poor standard but they had the nerve to charge you top prices would not go again

Ordered takeaway, arrive 90 mins late and was wrong order. Good that did arrive was one of the least flavoursome I have tasted. Chaotic at busy times on the phone. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Had some decent curry here before but this last episode was unacceptable.

Ordered take away meals over the phone during the Christmas period. The meals were ready for collection on our arrival. Great flavours and a generous portion. Would use again.

I booked a table for my sons 18th Birthday I stayed it was a special occasion and could a balloon be attached to the table ... I had a confirmation that it was booked but on the evening on arrival the table wasn’t even set up ... 2 tables had to be put together in the corner ... another 4 people came in and were sat right next to our table meaning we had to budge our table up ... the rest of the place was empty ... on sitting down we were told it was soft drinks only , it’s a an 18th birthday ??? We then had to go to the local coop to purchase some beers ... although the service was good the food was excellent I think people should we told when booking it’s soft drinks only ... a disappointing evening ...

We have lived in Ilminster for 14 years and I would never try anywhere else (having tried the Lopen Raj once and been bitterly disappointed!) There is a variety of Indian cuisine all cooked to a very high standard. The value for Money is wonderful and you have a plethora f meat, fish or what ever you have ordered.The staff are friendly and also offer recommendation based on how spicy you like your food which is brilliant. I certainly would not have tried curried fish without them. We keep coming back week on week year on year which I think speaks volumes.Please do visit and I recommend the Raj Special Biriyani!

Have been ordering every week for a long time from here untill moved and never found a place to match up! Quick service lovely staff good value for money. Highly recommended tandoori butter chickens and chips, mixed starter, butter chicken amazing place!

Excellent service and great food

We arrved at the resturant for a 7pm reservation - there was NO ONE in the resturant. Over the next 15 mins a few take away customers arrived and two other tables of 2 and 3 people. We were given poppadums and all seemed to be fine. The two people just behind us ordered their food right away - something we should have done as their food arrived and they were gone a LONG time before we received our food. The waiter then proceeded to take care of ALL the takeway customers before serving the rest of us in the dining room. We had a 4 year old with us and were eventually served at 8:30pm after a 90 MINUTE WAIT!!! At no time did we get an apology or an explanation (as it appeared a member of staff had not shown up). The food when it came was excelent but it will be a LOOOONG time before we eat there again!!! These guys need to decide if they are a restaurant or a take away!!!!!

Previously we were fans of this restaurants competition in town which we feel has gone downhill. The food here is very good. Service a little slow but everything tasted so fresh I will live with that. Good menu and excellent staff. Looking forward to going back.

We decided to treat ourselves to an evening out after a very long Christmas build-up with our families and received a very warm and friendly welcome at Rajpoot.

This is my go-to indian takeaway, the food here is fantastic and the staff are so friendly, i would'nt go anywhere else 👌👍

Great food, relaxed retro Curry house vibe, none of your "contemporary Indian cuisine" here, just good honest delicious Curries, hot fresh nan breads, really excellent Tandoori Grill specialities. Try a Tandoori Chicken Breast, a Lamb Shashlik or the mouthwatering Pangush Moli (traditional Bangladeshi Fish Tikka curry) I have eaten here regularly (every week!) since I moved to the area and the combination of great flavours, quality ingredients and reasonable prices just can't be beaten. Try it, you deserve it! ***** 10/10

Have eaten here many times, but tonight the food was not good. No flavour, tasteless. The Rogan josh was tastesless, tomato colour,and more like a Balti. My partners curry had grisly meat. The waiter did not bring cutlery, or serving spoons. Had to ask for them. He forgot the hot towels. Will not be going back.

Visited while staying in Ilminster. Food was good and the service was very friendly. No alcohol served but you can bring drinks in and there is a Co-op just round the corner. Several locals in an a quiet wed night so took this as a good sign! I will be back some time.

Popped in here to eat partly because it was the only place open in Ilminster. Very pleasantly surprised. Tahir was very friendly and food was unusual (mango and veg in a nut and cream sauce) and tasty. Recommended.

A first time visit here. Welcome and service were good. Both our meals (butter chicken, and tandoori king prawns) and our side dishes were exceptionally tasty with a wonderful variety of flavours. Not a licensed restaurant so if you need alcohol then take your own. We enjoyed soft drinks. Good value for money; a very good place to eat.

Had a takeaway meal last night four four people, very disappointed the containers were less than half full. Very expensive for what you get. I will not be going there again.

Service was rather slow, and it was not a busy Saturday night. Very pleasant staff. When the food arrived it was excellent. We had various dishes which were shared, the flavours and taste were wonderful. Some of the best freshly cooked Indian food I've tasted. Would highly recommend .
