The waiter needs to keep his thoughts to himself. Because our niece order chips with her curry, he told her if you want English food go to Bristol.

We live nearby and on a couple occasions now have had a takeaway from Miah’s and it’s been absolutely delicious, very quick collection time and the Naan bread tastes so fresh. We always thoroughly enjoy our meals and will continue to return.

Food was ok, not great, service was pretty blunt and not very friendly. Would expect quite a bit more for the price

Wow never had service like it. We bought a round of drinks and then Asked for tap water and it came out in a coffee mug. Asked for the bill to be broken down and we were informed it was very complicated to do, strange because some how they managed to come to a figure Real shame to be honest because food was full of flavour

Absolutely delious Indian food. Can't go wrong! And the service is excellent. Cannot fault it. Accessibility : a step into the resturant from pavement, but otherwise flat. Toilets are upstairs.

I have had a takeaway from here numerous times and every time it has been great. Really good menu with wide range. The chicken balti and naan are my favs. Very good veggie options too

Worst takeaway I have ever had food was literally cold had to reheat it my self😡 (not sure how many times it was already reheated chicken very dry ) microwaved everything as all below 50 degrees !!!😡 This is very sad as I have had some good ones before sadly will never return for takeaways as it has ruined a very special occasion and it’s reputation 😔

Food was great but grumpy service from the old man. He spoke to the young staff in a very insulting and demeaning way. First time we went we were made to wait whilst he continually answered the phone in front of us. We walked out and said we would never go back. After a couple of months we did and I can now say I regret giving them my money. As I said food was great but front of house is as bad as I have seen. Lesson definitely learned this time. Will never return.

Food was lovely and can't fault. Service on the other hand was terrible. Our table was booked at 8, for a big table we arrived quite promptly. Our drinks order wasn't taken until half 8, waiting over 20 minutes for them to all arrive, food order didn't get taken til 9. 40 minutes later it arrived. Half our party had their food and half eaten it by the time the rest of us had ours. Some of the party had ordered starters...they never arrived, apparently they ran out! As soon as someone had put their knife and fork down their plate was cleared...felt like they were rushing for us to leave at 10. The bill was placed on the table, we started to go up to the counter to pay individually but the man just said "you sort, you work out what you need to pay" Just rude in general, was more interested in Uber eats orders!

The food was lovely, but the person serving us was incredibly rude and abrupt, then telling us what we should each pay, which he'd added a generous tip to. A ok so, the drinks were incredibly overpiriced. I certainly wouldn't eat in again.

Great food, good and friendly service

Following the initial difficulties with the staff not understanding their legal obligations under the Equalities Act (2010) and attempting to deny my guide dog entry, they agreed we could take a seat. After that initial challenge we were made to feel welcome. The food we had was very tasty, good portions, and nothing was greasy. Mum in particular enjoyed the mango chicken as she’s heat-averse.

Went into Castle Cary for a boys night with my two sons. We preordered our meal at Miahs, leaving our paper order with the manager. We arrived back after a beer and collected our order taking it home some 4 miles away. When we got back we found one dish wasn't correct. I tang and without hesitation the restaurant said thed replace it and to keep the incorrect one. The manager was waiting with the reacement and a couple of poppadoms poor writing ( mine) had been the error! We went back and enjoyed all the Indian dishes the food was great the service beyond the call. We will be back for more soon top notch!

Me and my pal try a different curry and suggestions weekly and when going out of usual comfort zones have found every one delicious. The Rogan Josh and Bhuna curries I rate very highly. Top service also.

Great portions, very flavorsome, not greasy. Great price, usual 45 min turnaround time on a Friday / Saturday evening is always spot on. Not let us down on any of our orders.

We have had 3 takeaways from here since moving to the area. The food has always been tasty and service pleasant. The menu is good too. Cant fault it. Also you don’t get the morning after the night before feeling you can often get with curry!

I was extremely ill all night following a take away from Miahs in Castle Carey. I had chronic diarrhoea all night and felt weak and poorly all next day.

Never been disappointed with a take away or sit in meal at Miah’s. Friendly service, good flavours, wide selection of dishes. Highly recommend!

Regularly get takeaway from here, can’t say I’ve ever eaten in the restaurant but the food is varied, well cooked and always on time, would recommend this place never been disappointed :)

Good solid curry house for a takeaway - decent range on the menu, tasty, reasonably priced and good sized portions.

We frequently order take away food from Miah’s and never have a bad word to say about it- we love it! On this basis we decided to go with a group of 6 friends on New Years Eve to dine in the restaurant. We arrived for our table which we had booked on time but it was clear the table had not yet been prepared and the staff looked very stressed. We stood for around 10 minutes in the doorway before being seated- no apology was made but we didn’t mind as we appreciated they were busy. I work in hospitality myself so I appreciate that New Years Eve is a busy time and small delays can be expected, however we waited 1 hour to order our food and a further 55 minutes for the food to arrive- yet again not a single apology. All 5 of the tables that were sat in the restaurant at the same time as us all complained and were not offered an apology. When we received our bill I asked if there was any sort of compensation for the waiting times and the manager laughed in my face and said we could have £13 off our £120 bill and that was the end of it. We love the food in Miah’s and we believe it to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the local area however this experience has really spoiled its charm- we will be very reluctant to return.

We have visited this place twice now and had a good meal on both occasions. First time as just a couple and the second time as a group of four. Service was a little slow the first time but they were quite busy. Second time now issues and the food has been excellent on both occasions.

I had a takeaway and it was absolutely delicious. It was ready on time and piping hot. I had the chicken chat to start and paneer tikka masala. I’d definitely go there again!

You bet! Incredibly surprised at the range of the menu and skill and execution exercised in the creation of the curries we had. A few from the table thought I was going a bit OTT by over ordering from the menu. I suppose it's only over ordering if you don't eat it all, and eat it all we did. Some junior staff and a few mix ups did nothing to detract from a wonderful selection of curries (even a dhansak, typically persian fare!) and attentive service. There was a steady flow of takeaway customers throughout the night as well. Castle Cary, you're pretty lucky.

I would recommend this restaurant as it is set in a beautiful village and is a credit to the owners if you visit Castle Cary then try this restaurant as you will not be disappointed

This is our chosen Indian in the area as its quiet generally and the food is very good. I can recommend the Lamb Malaya and special fried rice.

Fair food and service. Could be better. Get the feeling that it’s very difficult to serve and deliver customers what they want.

Had a takeaway from here and was pleasantly surprised. Chicken could have been more tender, and onion bhajis could have been hotter, but overall it was very good and very tasty.

My wife & I were visiting Castle Cary ,staying atamy Godson's . Decided to eat a take away from Noah's. It was a disappointment . The chicken Karahi and and Lamb dish, the sag Alok and chick peas + nan as a package was much less than any other place we have ever eaten in the UK . It was not freshly cooked and it was bordering inedible. Never again.

Prima keuken, een klein gezellig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening. Op onze reizen door Engeland bezoeken we regelmatig de Indiase keuken. Dit restaurantje mag wat ons betreft bij de top horen.

We were visiting Castle Cary for a couple of days and wanted to try the local curry house. We were a bit dubious due to the reviews on here but we had nothing to worry about. We were very pleased with our choices and it was very delicious. Thank you Miah's!

Me and my partner absolutely love this place!! We get food to takeaway quite often. The man that answers the phone knows exactly who I am by our order and knowns my name. He absolutely lovely and we never have a problem with the food, it’s always boiling hot and tasty!! I’d recommend to everyone.

Klein maar daarom niet minder gezellig. Bediening hielp ons uitstekend verder met uitleg over alles en niets was teveel gevraagd . Bediening met glimlach en eten enorm lekker aan redelijke prijs.

I was lucky enough to have a meal here and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit again.

Last visited two months ago and thought it was back where it used to be. Tonight, the food was good apart from the paratha but the atmosphere was not enhanced by lacsadaisical service. Certainly not a venue for a special night out. Will try again in two months time.

Having recently moved to the area, I was keen to establish what restaurants etc were good. I had previously used the same indian takeaway for many many years. Safe to say, I wasnt disapointed. I have now used Miah's 3 times and each time the food has been great, and dare I say it, better than my previous restaurant. I would like to see a discount offered on takeaway option or maybe a loyalty offering, but no complaints here about the food.. All in, a great restaurant.

This was my first visit and definitely not the last..I rang for a takeaway and I'm mostly hesitant about ordering curry from somewhere i don't know as it can be a minefield especially as we've tried other Indian takeaways in the area and have been disappointed..

Located on the main high Street that runs through Castle Cary is Miah's which in our opinion is the best Indian restaurant we have found in SE Somerset.

Nice evening here,,, Staff friendly and talkative. Nice food and well done. Good access if you are disabled to. We will be going back again.

On our first night staying near Castle Cary we decided to have an indian take-away. We ordered our food, then went for a wonder in Castle Cary for 15 mins whilst it was done. We enjoyed our indian meal.

Miah's has had a complete turnaround in the quality and standard of food. I have now visited many times to dine in, as well as takeaways. The food is quality and the service is great, but not to in your face. I would highly recommend a visit.

In my opinion there is some good Indian food available reasonably close to Castle cary and until recently miah,s wasn't one of them. But my, how that has changed the food and service is excellent. Miah's is up there with the best of them, do try you will not be disappointed.

Been watching reviews during 2016 after a poor dining experience early in the year. It then lacked atmosphere, served inferior wine and was generally sad and dismal. We understand that the original owner has returned. The service was exemplary despite it being a busy New Year's Eve and the food was great. We remember the restaurant from thirty odd years ago when you had to book and the restaurant comprised a number of rooms upstairs. Would love to see it return to a similar status. Anyway, we will be back.

I went to Miah's last Friday and there were 18 of us. The service was excellent and the food all came out at the same time and was lovely and hot. The curry was delicious and the selection was plentiful. Very good meal and would definitely go back

Food averageOrdered from the menu online, however, when we picked up, the restaurant had changed its name and the dish we ordered was not on the menu, so why when we placed the order via the telephone were we not told.My husband didn't realise this at the time, so god knows what dish we got.Mint sauce was very watery, onion bhajee not edible a total disappointment Wish we drove to Somerton now

I had tried to visit this restaurant a few years back but gave up when the waiter had refused to acknowledge us after ten minutes of chatting on his mobile phone.However, since then, the ownership has changed so I decided to give it a try. Although the menu has one or two "specials" there is nothing particularly unusual that wouldn't be found anywhere else and all of the "usual suspects" are present.The tandoori dishes are moderately spiced and exactly what one would expect and the curries themselves are also exactly what one should expect from any non "haute cuisine" / "We are being different" Asian restaurant. If you want a pleasant traditional Indian meal then this restaurant will certainly deliver. I have marked it Very Good because 99% of Indian restaurants these days are average and this establishment is very much better than the vast majority.Just one thing......They aren't licenced at the moment.Otherwise, reasonable prices and a valuable asset to this small town.

How long can one reasonably be expected to wait for a takeaway - an hour and forty five minutes tonight at Miah's was beyond excessive. This place is laughable, full of restaurant guests, all of whole were complaining. If it wasn't so late, we would have gone elsewhere. Never to return.

We went on a Friday night. There were 3 tables in the tight downstairs restaurant. The decor is odd and very tired, and, we were told the business had recently changed hands, so they didn't have a liquor licence... Suited us fine, I popped over to the COOP and resolved that. The food was excellent! Portions were good, service was friendly but not as quick as it could be..... But, that was in part due to the huge amount of takeaway food that was being collected.The toilets were...........functional....not the best.Look, this is a solid Indian, but it needs refurbishing badly and they need to resolve how people pick up their takeaways as they currently sit or stand in the tiny downstairs restaurant. We wanted to score it higher, but the building lets it down.

The food was good, staff was excellent..There are only positives I can say about my experience bar one, Which is good..The only area that lets the establishment down is the decor..

I was a little surprised to read poor reviews of Miahs, as it has always been good in the past. I was one of the first customers over 20 years ago.We enjoyed out meal very much. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was very tasty and freshly cooked. Prawn naga and sag aloo were very good indeed and the onion bhajis were excellent. I've eaten in many curry houses all over the country and Miah's remains one of my favourites.

Two friends and I decided to give Miah's a second chance after having a poor meal. But it was a complete let down. The service was very slow to the point we were leaving, but the waiter persuaded us to stay. The duck starter dish we shared was so over cooked it was like tough liver. Awful. Our mains eventually came out and were flavourless, the chicken dishes contained chicken that was so over cooked you have used the chuncks as bullets. The toilet facilities are not very desirable, they need a good clean. Even the doors and around the light switches as grubby. This can't be good.We did hear other tables complaining as they left as well.The waiter was so miserable beyond belief. We will not be returning unless something changes. A shame, as I have been a loyal customer for years. Sad days, as it means travelling to neighbouring towns to get a decent Indian.

We live localy and use this restaurant every so often for takeaway. It used to be packed most nights but I have seen a slow decline over the years and now every time I go in it is usually empty. There is a upstairs eating area that you used to be seated in when the downstairs was full mostly on a Friday or Saturday night but now when I go in the downstairs is almost empty. It's now dated and needs a revamp and the waiter can be uninterested and looks like he can't care less. But I must say that we have never had an issue with the food, we know what we like and order the same takeaway each time and it's always nice. But would not eat in restaurant due to decor, waiter and lack of atmosphere.

I am indian and ate in this resteraunt tonight with my English husband. We love curry. We have never eaten here before. The food is terrible. It is a bland gloopy unseasoned sweet mess, whatever dish you have. We had Punjabi lamb, I am Punjabi. It was nothing like anything I have eaten before. It was a sweet soup with dried up meat. The aloo gobi tasted bland like over boiled vegetables. All the dishes looked the same. We stayed for 5 minutes after the food arrived but had to ask for the bill as it was disgusting. My husband discreetly complained, the Indian waiter said he would never eat anything like this at home. They took money off the bill. People in castle Cary deserve a better Indian resteraunt. The naan bread was good and the Dahl eatable.

The place was empty (21.15) when we arrived, but two more tables were taken later. The staff went from sullen to rude. The food was ok, but all looked the same, with a gloopy thick tomato sauce. Our neighbours ordered something completely different, but it had the same sauce.We wanted a dessert, but were presented with the bill unasked. "No desserts" was the reply when I asked. And no coffee! Will not be going back.

Reserved a table on a Saturday night at Miah's there was no need as the restaurant was empty.Service was quick almost as soon as we had sat at our table and poppadum's and chutneys came with our drinks! Unfortunately the only down side to the meal was the very grump waiter...who never smiled said please or Thank you. He really is letting this restaurant down ;-(Food was good we ordered a range of meals with chicken and prawns and all was delicious ;-) watered down with Kingfisher on tapIf we go again hopefully Mr Grumpy will have a night off. Or we might just get a Takeaway!

We are BIG Indian food fans and have eaten in all types, from cheap and cheerful to elegant and expensive. Miah's could fit into the first category, the staff are friendly and helpful. However I was disappointed in the cleanliness of pretty much everything in this restaurant. It took the edge off the food, which was actually not bad. Tasty tandoori Chicken and Onion Bajis (disappointingly sweet and bland mint sauce), a thick but freshly cooked Naan. The Tikka Masala which I ordered Madras hot was overly sweet and strangely had masses of coconut in it – my wife could not eat it, it was far too heavily sweetened.Less good, the laminated menus had that sticky finger-print feel that put you off right at the beginning. The walls (we sat near the window) were splattered and stained in places. From where I sat I could see a boiler and hand sink in the kitchen lobby, the wall above this was a grubbiness that only downtown Delhi should be familiar with – there's no excuse for this in a restaurant that's inspected by an English Food Standards Agency (they rate Miah's 3 star but I'd say that is generous). The table mats (I've nothing against mats if thee keep the laundry bill, and so our bill, down) are so ancient – they appear to have been chipped (nibbled?) all around.The whole place needs, not so much a facelift as a real thorough deep-clean all round and replace those awful worn out mats. The staff and owners should be liaising with their council to get their FSA rating to a 4 or 5. I would not want to visit the kitchens and loos as it stands, if I had I am certain my evening would have been spoiled.In the kitchen the chef must keep a check on the amount of sugar going into dishes and I suggest create some new accompaniments to go with the mango chutney.There were only one or two other tables being served when we visited on a Friday night, though plenty of take-aways were being collected (some were having to wait a very long time, one lady getting rather annoyed).If they could sort out the problem areas I'd visit again, but until then, sorry but it is a reluctant thumbs down from us.

If you are here in Castle Cary you can get more than a Balti at Miahs. Red wine is very good as is the beer I always take visitors here staff make everyone welcome

Went to the buffet on a Sunday evening, got there about 6.45pm, there was no meat in the curries just sauce. The toilet facilities are disgusting. All 5 of us were ill next day. Will never go there again.

We decided to try a different restaurant from our favourite, and were very disappointed. Food was poor. If I'd gone around to a friends for dinner, and had this, I would not have been disappointed, but sorry to say not what I would have expected from a proper restaurant. Food tasted and looked like blended tomatoes with some chillies thrown in and lacked any complexities of flavour. Portions were small and drinks expensive. Staff looked bored- we were the only ones in the restaurant- though were polite. Restaurant felt cold and in need of a bit of decoration. Sorry guys.

Having lived in the area for several years, my wife and I are regular customers. The service is always excellent and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is highly commendable and they are always willing to make small additions, e.g extra chillies on request.

We didn't book and got a table soon after we arrived. After ordering we had to wait a very long time for the food, which was tasty but not as spicy as we would have liked but otherwise we were pleased that it seemed to have been made from scratch and wasn't at all greasy. The staff were hugely apologetic when we mentioned the waiting time, and were genuinely concerned about our experience there. Overall, we wouldnt go out of our way to go there but if we were in the area would happily go back. Good value for homemade food, a nice little local curry house.
