Really great food, hubby had his usual Dhansak and I had a fish tandoori which I haven’t had before. Good service from pleasant staff.

We had a takeaway menu as we are looking after family pets. It was outstanding - all of it. A huge thank you. The best curry we have had in a long time.

I have always been a fan of Indian food and since moving to Crowborough wanted to find an establishment that would be great and able to count on for all occaisions. Once again this evening with a meal for one or was so good. This is my go to restaurant in East Sussex. AAA++

We dined at Rajpoot after seeing it is the top rated Indian restaurant on Trip Advisor. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious!! To top it off we got a free complimentary drink at the end to finish the night - thank you!

This was the worst Indian meal I've ever had with the worst service. There was a table of young men near to us clearly drunk using loud unacceptable language . It was difficult to have a conversation above their noise. Although the dishes were rated for their hotness there was no heat or flavour at all in the sauces. They were bland and tasteless.The chicken was in stringy strips and very dry in one of the dishes. The naan bread was freshly cooked and fine. But the service was terrible and the head waiter very surly. Would certainly not return or recommend to anyone.

Visited friends in Crowborough and ordered a takeaway. The menu is huge with so many dishes which I did find a bit extreme and wondered if with so many choices the quality would be reduced. I was proved wrong and all dishes were flavoursome and enjoyed by the group. Chicken was tender and my Jalfrezi provided a good kick from the green chilli! Definitely one of the best Indian takeaways I’ve had in a while. Would certainly recommend.

This is a great restaurant. The food is excellent and authentic. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. There is a large and varied menu, offering a wide selection of different dishes from different regions. Prices are very reasonable, with some house specials representing excellent value for money.

I have eaten here only a handful of times over the years, preferring the food, atmosphere and staff at the Rose of Bengal, but I have always enjoyed my experience here. Having decided to go to the Rose of Bengal for my partners birthday dinner, we were disappointed to find that they were fully booked. The Rajpoot, however, had a table available and we were happy to go there. We booked for 6pm, as we all prefer to eat early. There was only one party table in the restaurant when we arrived. Although the waiters were attentive to begin with, they took our drinks order, brought out poppadoms and took the order for our meal, it all went to pot after that. They were very busy with take away meals and the restaurant soon began to fill with other diners. Our starters arrived, were consumed and enjoyed. Then the wait began. Tables who ordered after us were served, and we waited. The waiters were running backwards and forwards providing takeaways but still our food didn't come. After the table behind us (who had not been there long) got their food, I decided it was time to ask what had happened to ours. I managed to catch a waiter going past and he said he would check. When he came back, he said it was just coming. At this stage I began to think that somehow our ticket had been missed in the kitchen. The hot plate and our plates arrived, but still no food. Our plates began to get cold so we asked for new ones. The new ones arrived and, an hour and 10 minutes after ordering, our meals finally arrived. The waiters were rushed and a certain impatience was evident when we didn't respond immediately to identify whose dish was whose. Two of us had the Nepal Chicken and said that it was nothing like they had had before, but edible. One had Kushboo Chicken which was tough and had a weird texture. I had Meat Ceylon and the lamb was tough. I found a large lump of gristle which I had to spit out and it put me off eating more. The Onion Bhajis were greasy, and arrived looking like one big pile rather than 4 shaped bhajis. The best part of the meal was the Garlic Naan, which had clearly been freshly cooked. Not one waiter came to ask if the food was ok, and having waited as long as we had we didn't want to wait for replacement food, so we ate what we could. There was a lot of food left and when the waiter came to clear the table we told him that we were not happy with the meal and he tried to tell us that we had eaten most of it! He then went on to say that the restaurant had been operating since 1992 and that they always had good reviews - well here is the FIRST bad one. Instead of listening to our genuine complaint and taking it on board he clearly didn't want to listen. The dessert menu was brought to the table and we said we would look, but nothing appealed, so after waiting for a waiter to respond to our attempts to catch their attention we decided that the best way would be to get up and act as if leaving. The head waiter then hurriedly brought our bill. We told him about our experience and he was a little more sympathetic trying to say that they were so busy, it was unfortunately having an effect. He did reduce the bill by 10% and gave us brandy and Baileys but that went little way to compensate for a bad experience and it does not alter my opinion that I will not spend my hard earned money in this restaurant again. There were a number of tables looking at their watches and huffing and puffing, so I don't think we were the only ones, and I am sure that there was also tables who were satisfied with what they got. BUT I for one will never go back here or recommend it to family and friends. I fully appreciate that it has been tough on the hospitality business during COVID, but I feel that they are sacrificing their good quality and reputation in order to recoup the money they have lost. Their mission statement is: At Rajpoot we have a very clear and precise mission, to impress our customers by giving them the highest degree of service possible and by providing them with the freshest, finest & good quality food at reasonable prices, in a soothing and comfortable environment. In my opinion, there is some work to do to achieve this.

This was out fifth meal from the Rajpoot since moving to Crowborough. The dishes were again of very high standard and flavour. All guests commented on how delicious their meals were. The meat was tender and well done which is essential for me. I really love it when an establishment is consistent in their quality and you can rely on it. Thanks Rajpoot for another great meal.

This was our first visit for a while due to the pandemic. I’m glad to say the food and service was as good as ever. Highly recommended for any occasion.

Take-away this evening, the restaurant was recommended and the recommendation was spot-on. Ready bang on time, hot and very very tasty. We had a chicken tikka balti and one of the ‘specials’, a lamb and chicken dish with sides and bread. All excellent.

Had an amazing time at Raj Poot, food was absolutely stuning! (probably order too much) customer service was excellent and will 100% be back here in the future.

We visited on Monday evening and were given the best ever treatment. Treated so well from start to finish! My boys loved every second of their first Indian restaurant experience. Would highly highly recommend!

We have eaten at Raj Poot several times and have never been disappointed. Tonight (whilst still under lock down) we tried their takeaway service. It was excellent from start to finish. Their online ordering system was simple to use, comprehensive, and gave a collection time 30 minutes hence. When I went to collect I received a warm welcome, an efficient contactless payment system using my debit card and the quick arrival of our food. As a complete surprise I was presented with a large bottle of Cobra beer. Perfect! When I got the food home there were a couple of unexpected culinary "gifts" and the food was, as always, excellent. The excellence was not a surprise but the amount of food was. We ate all we could (and I drank the Cobra) and there was enough food left for tomorrow's dinner - making it superb value for money. What more could we ask for? Nothing!

Without doubt one of the best restaurants in the area. Food excellent, staff fantastic. Do yourself a favour and get a take away in these difficult times. They now deliver too.

Went here with my daughter as I just loved the look of the restaurant from the outside, as it looked very traditional and not too modern.I ordered a vindaloo which was delicious and hot, but the only niggle was the lack of chicken in the dishes. as the portions were on the small side.I loved the atmosphere inside, as they were playing traditional music which I always feel brings authenticity to an Indian meal ( Why some restaurants play pop music is beyond me I must admit !!!)Had complimentary drinks after the meal, which was a lovely touch and we really enjoyed the whole experience there, and would come back again, but live to far away as was just passing through Crowborough.The staff are extremely friendly and efficient, which does add value to this gem of a restaurant.

We were across the street in a pub and asked some locals how to get to another recommended Indian restaurant . They said Rajpoot directly across the street was a better choice. The good news was that we already had a parking spot. We walked over to a place run by a staff of pleasant locals. I had the chicken Madras(supposedly medium hot) I could have used more spice. Basmati rice and naan. My wife had a mild lamb dish. Everything we had was quite good. We were early and as we ate the restaurant began to fill up. Popular place.

This place you will be looked after, great staff friendly and very easy to get on with, nothing is to much trouble, we had great food all served in a friendly manner and presented well, nice large dishes that were full of taste, would recommend to anyone with a big appetite you won’t be disappointed, and the complementary drinks after are a nice touch

Best Indian in the area, Rajput has always given us an excellent meal. There is an unusual variety in the dishes which keeps bringing us back.

What better way is there than to start the weekend with a lip smackingly scrumptious Indian meal. First thing to note is this curry house has always been full and buzzing whenever we visit, so that to me is a sign of a good night out...needless to say all six of us weren’t disappointed. Food selection is really good, not too much, not to little, and food to accommodate all types, burn your mouth off, or milder than a mild thing. Staff are always attentive and helpful to whatever your needs, so credit where credit is due. I went for a king prawn toofan and it was delicious (you must try it) along with the vast selection of side dishes....yummy. First class night of food...and drink

Five of us got together here as it was midway between various homes. Staff excellent, service great, food very good, the onion bhajis some of the best I have had. I do feel that the chicken in a shashlik could be smaller chunks but then again I could always cut them up myself! Plenty of food, somehow we managed it all and we were even offered a drink on the house at the end which was a wonderful surprise. Sadly as a driver I had to decline. This place had been recommended by a friend who lives locally and loves Indian food so very glad we could try it.

A varied menu with average prices. The restaurant is very popular so it’s worth booking in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service we received was excellent. This was our first visit and we will be very happy to go again.

I'd advise taking out a loan if you plan to get a takeaway from this place. The food was acceptable but the price was eye wateringly expensive. Be warned!

Popped in here on the off chance on Saturday night and they squeezed us in without a booking which I was grateful for.

Service is always good and the menu choices are varied.

Food was lovely unfortunately we felt a bit put out as we did not book a table in advance the waiter stuck us in the window seat which was fine but was a bit miffed as we were waiting for our main meal and he came and took a knife and fork from our table to give to someone else and didn’t say a word how rude .

Have been here many times, food is always beautiful, waiters are lovely and attentive, there is plenty to choose from the menu including starters and deserts. Food is always so tasty and fresh, and the restaurant is lovely, thoroughly recommend !

We tend to make an annual visit to the Rajpoot for either a birthday or our anniversary. We travel a long way as the curry is SO good and this visit didn’t disappoint. The menu is varied and you’re spoilt for choice. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Hadn't been here for some time and had always enjoyed. Now under new ownership since the last time we had been but didn't disappoint. Had the tastiest fish curry I have ever eaten. Yum.

We visit the Raj regularly and are never disappointed. They are very friendly and helpful and always seem to be able to remember what you enjoyed on your previous visit. Take away is good and fast too.

A group of us visited this indian restaurant in the week for a birthday party. The food was terrible and was clearly not cooked by an Indian cook. It was so bland I may have eaten cardboard which would probably have had more taste. I have now gone off Indian food as the thought of it makes me feel ill.The attitude of the owner left a lot to be desired. Everything was too much trouble. One of my friends had to return her meal as it was too sweet to eat when it came back there was so much spice on it that it could not be eaten.

This small restaurant serves excellent Indian food. It doesn't look much from the outside but is well worth a visit. The menu offers a wide variety of well-cooked, nicely presented dishes. The lamb bhuna was delicious. The waiters are attentive but unobtrusive. We were given free liqueurs after our meal and didn't feel we were being rushed to leave. There was Indian music playing quietly which added to the atmosphere, but I did find it a bit dark. It's a good place to eat with family and friends. They also do an excellent take-away service.

Myself and my Family returned to the Rajpoot after being away for awhile. The food has remained truly fantastic, and i would say the Rajpoot is the best Indian i have ever visited. My mother was unable to finish her meal and the staff kindly boxed up her meal to take home.The quality of the food was second to none especially the Rajpoot Special.I would highly recommend this to restaurant.

I come here regularly and the staff are so friendly and really attentive. The food is always 100% on point . Definitely the best curry house around the area. They give you chocolate a rose and complimentary shots at the end of the meal, and on my boyfriends birthday he was given a beer on the house! It's the little details that make a difference. Delicious food, reasonably priced, very friendly staff and they even give you a rose after the meal! One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. Great for families with small children too. Not the easiest place to park near but apart from that it's excellent.

Four of us came here for a meal on Saturday after we had booked at the Neville Crest & Gun but found on arrival that they had no gas so the kitchen was closed (not that they had bothered to contact us to tell us!).We arrived at the Rajpoot just after 8pm with no booking and were worried that we would not get in - the place looked very busy. But we were lucky and a table was available. The menu was extensive enough, the service friendly and attentive. The food arrived without delay and was very good. I could recommend this restaurant.

Mid week curry, great food, reasonably priced. Not a large restaurant which makes it nice for small groups and couples. Some of the staff could do with being a bit happier, the Asian guys were quite moody and made you feel like it was a bit of an effort. It's one of our locals so we will go back.

Having read the good reviews we thought we would give a try....short indian chap with glasses rude and abrupt and unwelcoming. Food below average, like a 1970s. Not a nice experience chicken dry, magic mushroom starter raw. Cook is polish and lives upstairs

Recently visited here for the 1st time. Can't believe we have never used this Indian before. Went on recommendation from a friend and glad we did. Food was amazing , good price and great service. Came here (currently sat in the restaurant) for my wife's birthday. Not being from around here I have 0 idea what places there are. All I can say is wow. Perfect place for coeliac as the only thing on the main menu you can't have are naans (dur). The food has been fantastic, the staff were great and the pricing was fantastic for what you got. Next time we're at the in-laws and fancy an Indian this will be the place to go.

The best Indian I have been to for such a long time!!! The food was excellent, the staff were fantastic and very helpful, we hadto wait for a table (but on a friday night you would expect that) but the staff were very attentive, asking us if we would like a drink whilst we wait and making sure we were ok before our table was ready. Its a small, intimate restuarant but me and my wife didn't mind that at all. And when the food came out, it was delicious!! The meat was mouth watering and the portions were very generous.I would highly recommend booking before you come though as they are generally busy, but with food and service this good you can see why!!!10/10

We came here not to long ago was very busy we hadn't booked but they managed to seat us the food was so nice one of the nicest Indians if had in a while the staff where very attentive they did not rush us at all they made sure the food was all ok and sorted out drinks when ever we needed one I would 100% go back again

Decided the family needed a treat and we got one, great food great service but the place is looking a little shabby lighting needs improving and a control over the noise of some customers who should be at football match they are so loud.People go out to have a nice time.Food was perfect and a nice touch at the end of a free tipple and choc choc.Departing message from owner was nice to see you dining with us tonight we will take care of the washing up ...love it!!

Located in the middle of Crowborough in London road.This well established restaurant offer an extensive menue consisting of all the usual dishes you find in such restaurants, but with a big difference because the food is freshly cooked, and very tasty.We went there for lunch on Sunday 8/11/2015, and had a big welcome as soon as we arrived, and sat at our usual tableRajpoot is the perfect place to spend some happy time over lunch or dinner at night listening to indian music which forms part of the atmosphere.We had a lot of nibbles,starters,mains, and desserts with unique touches throughout.This is Indian food at its best.

Love the food here, Iv tried the other options in the town but this is by far the best choice. the only downside is that they do not deliver.The food is worth the drive to pick it up tho. And well priced too.

Best Indian food in the area. If like me you love Indian but not hot this is the place as tell the staff what you do or dont like and they will cater for you. Staff are great especially Sam. Prices are reasonable if you want Saturday night you will have to book as its so popular

We were looking around for an indian and went here after reading good reviews. We were a party of five. The food was good but the service was not. It was a very busy Saturday with a lot of takeaways so we may have just been unlucky. We had our drinks and had finished our poppadams, still they had not taken our order so we had to chase which meant a long delay before our starters arrived. The onion bhajees were particularly tasty. Fresh orange slices after your meal were a nice touch as was complimentary baileys for the ladies and brandy for the men at the end. We again had to chase for our bill.

It is necessary to book in advance as it was very busy. The food was plentiful. On the day I went taking the food order was very slow and they were rushed off their feet. I had no 75 Lamb Makan Walla which had a lot of coconut in it which it did not say on the menu and I have problems with and suffered during the night with the rejection of it. I should have returned it but saw how busy they were. My friends enjoyed their meals. The tables are very close but it has a good ambiance.

Dropped in on spec as it was getting late and we wanted a takeaway. Not our normal choice but thought we'd give it a go. Very Pleased we did. Very busy in the sit in but the takeaway only took 20 minutes and was very fresh. I had one really tough piece of chicken towards the end which spoilt it a little but everything else was spot on. Good service great food and not too expensive. We are planning on going back for a sit down with the whole family so i'll write another review after that but I'm hoping for something good.

We frequently try this restaurant and food has always been good due to great special dishes which they had but somehow it has changed as on my last visit the food description did not match the dish I ordered as I do not like sweet dishes and no 61 dish "Dhaba Murgh" did not say it is sweet, somehow the choices has become limited and is inclined to be sweet rather than proper savoury spicy Indian dishes, I hope that they will improve their menu back to what it was before.

I've visited the Raj Poot regularly now for years and in my opinion it cannot be beaten! Every dish is individual and full of flavour! The staff are very informative and very personable. Highly recommend a meal here!

This is a lovely small curry house serving great food for great prices! I highly recommend this restaurant as it is very central and definitely worth the visit!

Eat here quite regularly either take-away or sit-in. Some Indian restaurants dont offer the same quality when you have a take away - this place is excellent every time. Can highly recommend the oinion bahji's - best in the area.

Takeaway for the family was bought, the men serving inside were very welcoming and the food when eaten was great! Have been to Rajpoot over many years and it has always maintained a high service level.

We visit this restaurant about once a year or so for an old College reunion. Despite not having booked, they were able to fit us in for a table of six. Food was as good as usual, served hot and the menu as varied as could be expected. At the end we were all presented with an offer of brandy on the house, but as we were all driving we politely refused. Cost including tip came to £25/head

Food was of good quality however they couldn't wait to reuse the table. Plates were being cleared almost before we had finished which spoilt the occasion. We have not visited since and are unlikely to do so.

Just visiting the area, wanted to try Raj Poot for ages... From the starter to main course the food is cooked very well inspite of the restaurant being so busy.. Lovely taste of chicken vindaloo including the special fried rice & peas..

The staff here were exceedingly rude, sharp people with no patience. I had a good mind to tell them so a number of times. The food could have been nice but it was LOADED with sugar. Cheap trick to make the punters drink more beer. We thought it to be disgusting as every dish taste the same because of the sugar. A table of loud football hooligans were prioritized above all the educated. That is obviously Rajpoots best clientele. A couple behind us were complaining of being over charged and the waiter said hurry up and pay!!! We were then over charged too so I complained but completely ignored. Unfortunately some people have rated it good and excellent. These people should review their ideas on cuisine and only review or comment when actually speaking from true experience and knowledge. Unfortunately this is a problem for trip advisor as more and more people are joining and reviewing when they do not have a clue about cuisine/service or food in general.

Consistently amazing food, and first class service in this very well managed and friendly restaurant. Highly regarded by all my visitors who always ask to return there when they stay! High praise indeed, and can thoroughly recommend for couples, larger groups and takeaway!
