Went to khans today for Sunday lunch, where they did a Sunday banquet for £12.95. Food was excellent as was the service. Apart from the 4 of us there was just another couple, however all our courses were freshly cooked and the lamb and chicken were exceptionally tender. We're definitely going back!

As far as my research goes, a UK restaurant can make a minimum charge. I get it. But it’s how you inform your customers of this fact. At “Khan’s Balti” a waitress took our order. When we had made our order, she informed us that we had failed to reach the threshold of 15 pounds per person. We were ordering via some kind of calculator. There were four of us that evening, and we were not especially hungry. We had ordered three mains, poppadoms, rice and nan bread. We were the only customers. We are not UK residents, and have not lived in the UK since the 80s (another story). Is this relevant? Well, we are not used to dining out in the UK, nor to this kind of perfunctory treatment by restaurant staff. It was a shock. “Oh, it’s on the back of the menu.” she said. OK, but who reads the back of the menu? The manager got involved, calmly, but not in any empathetic way, explaining why there was a minimum charge per person. This is not my issue (see paragraph one). We were not spoken to in a manner befitting a manager/customer intervention. I suggested that we could have been told before ordering drinks and poppadoms, but he suggested that it would be “ugly” to inform customers of this fact before they started ordering, given that this information was on the reverse of the menu. I said I would rather know off the bat. What was “ugly” was how we were dealt with. The law provides that you should be given a chance to check the prices before you get to your table, as well as having a menu at the table. They must make the food prices, as well as any minimum charge or service charge as clear as possible. If the restaurant fails with any of these obligations, it runs the risk of a prosecution by Trading Standards for breaking these restaurant laws. Do I prosecute? Of course not, I just want people to be aware. Well, Khan’s made themselves clear, but soured the evening for us. We topped up our order to the required amount and had our meal. Is Kahn’s under new management? Has the chef changed recently? All my take-away experiences have been great. Perhaps it was the reception we received, but the food was quite indifferent. Onion bhaji - reheated, not great. the rest of the meal was far from engaging, and deeply lacking in flavour/heat. Highly disappointing.

I booked well in advance for our works summer do. When we arrived we found a large party sitting at our table, and were told that our table would be ready shortly as the previous group had arrived late. (NOT MY FAULT, SHOULD NOT BE MY PROBLEM). We went back outside to see these guests smoking and they told us that they were about to order pudding and then they’d be done! Pudding? (THE RESTAURANT ALLOWED THEM TO ORDER PUDDING - THEY WERE ALREADY LATE) These guests were still at our table half an hour later. 1. Don’t take a large booking before our booking was scheduled. That was just greed. 2. Make it clear that the table is needed by a set time. I’ve been in a Michelin starred restaurant where we were reminded the table was needed. 3. If the next sitting has already passed, don’t let the 1st sitting order dessert. Big shout-out to the Hop Yard who kept their kitchen open for us, otherwise we would have had absolutely no food. NEXT YEAR WE WILL GO TO ROOCHI for our curry. Terrible way to run a restaurant, ruined our evening.

We picked an unusually busy evening so staff under pressure. I've eaten better there in the past. Nice to have a BYO option for drinks and staff friendly

Nice meal on the whole but the tandoori chicken came out dry and had obviously pre cooked .put on a hot skillet when we complained and said we would pay for the dish anyway ,was told that we should have eaten when it was hot and when cold un eatable, started to argue with us didn’t want to hear ,so payed as we said we would ,terrible service and to think that we didn’t know what we were getting.have been eating Indian food for 40yrs .very bad food dish .by the way we payed for the dish ,won’t be going back.

Delicious curry, Vindaloo tasty and not overly hot. Chicken Makani was perfect and great Naan bread!

We had a great dinner , it arrived about 10 minutes later than advertised, but when I rang to check, I could here they were extremely busy. ( it was a Saturday night at peak time) it arrived hot amd was very tasty. Will use again and would recommend to anyone. Thanks

Best value for money, prices are very reasonable, the nan bread is amazing, portions are more than enough, the meat is proper tasty. Would recommend the bombarding potatoes as a side especially if you're new to trying more Indian food 😋 Delivery was very efficient.

Ordered takeaway at 8pm for delivery for 9pm. Order accepted. 9:10pm nothing so called to see where it is. "Another 20 minutes " they said. 945pm still nothing so call again. "Another 5 to 10 minutes " . No apology, I have to call to ask, terrible service

A usual haunt of mine. Khan's is reasonably priced and u can't go wrong with a Curry. The Staff are friendly and polite. Happy to recommend

After hearing some good reviews decided on a takeaway from Khans. The food was ordered over the phone and I was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. Arrived early to collect and to pay the bill and waited... 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 mins, the food eventually arrived. Once at home and with the curry plated, I sat down to enjoy my curry.... however my madras hot korai didn't contain any heat and no spices. My partner who ordered a pasanda even remarked that her passanda she ordered was hotter than mine. To say i was very disappointed with Khans is an understatement.

Worst curry I’ve ever had. It was watery and no flavour. The chicken was odd and all gristle too. Something out of a jar would be better than this. There’s no way an actual chef made this bland, watery mess

Great Indian restaurant serving delicious food. Refreshing to eat in bright, modern interior rather than the more traditionally decorated restaurant. Lovely to have linen tablecloths and napkins. The food was excellent, each dish tasted and looked distinctly different to the others, unlike many places we’ve eaten! Beautiful fresh naan, chicken balti, lamb jafrezi and tarka dhal all excellent. Kept warm at the table over tea lights.

Excellent quality, awesome portion size, got enough for breakfast 👍. It was delivered red hot. Flavours were amazing. Have recommended to all of my friends

Ordered our curry at 7:30pm for delivery and was told it would be with us at 8:15pm, understandable 45 minute wait as it was a Saturday night so no drama there, got to 8:35pm and still nothing so I have them a call and was told "Sorry the kitchen is really busy but your order has left the kitchen now so shouldn't be long" As the restaurant is less than 10 minutes away I thought we wouldn't have to wait much longer! Well turns out I was just told a complete lie by the woman on the phone, 9pm comes and still no food so I call again, I'm now told the usual kitchen is really busy and that there is a few orders in our area so just waiting for all of them to be ready to go out at once.. not really how it's meant to work considering mine was meant to be delivered 45 minutes ago and told 25 minutes ago it had left the kitchen. Finally at 9:15pm our curry arrived, my partner enjoyed her curry but mine had about an inch layer of oil on the top and didn't taste great. Overall average curry and horrendous service, don't take on so many orders that you can't complete in the time you say you can 👍

Khans has been reliably good for the 12 years or so we've lived here. This is our go-to restaurant for Indian eat-in and take-away, and they deliver as well. Check out the sha-koti chicken - full of flavour and nice and spicy! Service is always friendly and welcoming. Oh, and you can bring your own bottle of wine as well...

I've been ordering from khan's for years now and have always had an exceptionally good experience with them. The food is delicious and authentic, priced well and the staff are lovely. Highly recommend.

We’ve ordered from Khan’s many times over the years. They never disappoint. There are many menu choices and the food is always delicious and high quality. We have dined in and had takeout. Service is always good. Definitely 5 stars all round.

The Curries are always excellent; the meat was never anything but absolutely satisfying; and always succulent & well cooked, when I used to eat meat. the owner Naz always often gives me extras which is really appreciated as a long time customer of this restaurant (20 years; not these owners been there that long). sauces never have too much oil( although could add a lot less to the bombay aloo ;) ) and they're always very tasty, The value for money with the quality and cheap prices is unbeatable in any part of Sussex - or even britain - where I've had good indian food. Very friendly, very accommodating - back in the day i was given a free cobra while waiting, and they used to do b.y.o.b even though they serve(d?) their own drinks! - and I'll eat here every time I'm staying in Forest Row a while, as the value for money has gotten better, not worse. I've been going to this place for 20 years; the Curries are absolutely excellent; the meat was always excellent when I used to eat meat; and the owner Nazir almost always gives me extras, when he knows that it's me; which is really appreciated, got given a free cobra while i waited once. very friendly; and never had any issues with them whatsoever. and the price for the quality is unbeatable. the sauces are excellent - never too oily - so perfectly balanced. never anything to complain about whatsoever one of my favorites curry houses in UK

Thank you so much, we were due to eat at the restaurant tonight but unfortunately one of our guests had severe back problems so we ordered a takeaway instead. Food arrived on time, everyone enjoyed their meal and best of all, I have left overs for another meal for me! Thank you Naz, after all these years this was our first takeaway, will be doing it again soon.

Whilst eating at the Thai restaurant next door the owner of Kahms found it acceptable to cover my car in curry as I'd parked in the car park unknown to me was theirs

I placed an order to be delivered at a later time and it was delivered 1hr and 20mins before time slot. Normally wouldn't complain about food arriving early but we had friends joining who hadn't even turned up yet! I phoned the restaurant and they said there wasn't anything they could do as they didn't see the time slot for delivery. Food was OK I guess have had better.

The meal was delivered hot and quickly. Food quality in my opinion was great, portion size was amazing. Would definitely use again and recommend

Over an hour late, and I'm still waiting for the delivery. I've spoken to 3 different people on the phone, and not a single apology. Shame, because the food has been good in the past.

First time using this restaurant. Food was delicious and piping hot and came earlier than i was expecting on a Friday night, so that was a bonus. Not so happy with the delivery person though - had no patience or space awareness. Please don't send him again, Thank you.

Food was very tasty albeit a bit sweet (masala and butter chicken) and arrived hot. Some confusion with delivery as I have a foreign number, but it was quickly resolved.

Hadn’t used this restaurant for a few years, pandemic, lockdowns, etc…. just got out of the habit. Anyway we returned a couple of weeks ago and were absolutely impressed by the food, presentation, portion sizes but most importantly the variety of flavours, not everything all tasting similar. We returned again last night and again it was simply very good. Prices are very competitive, service excellent and if you wish you can take your own booze, although I choose not to as it’s nice to support a local business.

Popped in last week with 3 friends. We were all blown away by the quality of the food. Simply stunning. All 4 dishes completely different and delicious. Great veggies. Lovely soft naan. This is a BYO but have draft beer for sale. Highly highly recommend

Had a lovely meal here on 1st September and food, service was all excellent and reasonably priced. We spoke to Naz before leaving and congratulated on a well run ship. Will make this a regular as soon as we move closer.

Ordered at 8pm. Delivered at 10.30pm. Also had no naan bread left, so they replaced 2 naans with 2 extra rice's. So we had 4 rice in total. Absolutely disappointed with no offer of compensation or refund.

When you go out you want good food, comfortable surroundings and an enjoyable time. As regular customers I have never been disappointed with any aspect of Khan's restaurant and would recommend it highly. Try the Chicken Tikka Achar really nice.

I spent a very enjoyable birthday here last night with a group of friends. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff very friendly and the food was delicious. Good sized portions at a reasonable price. What more can I say - I'll definitely be back!

We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all delicious, we particularly liked the coconut rice and dhals. We asked which dishes were vegan and they helpfully explained to us.

Arrived quickly and everything was delicious – especially the bhajis and vegetable dansak.

Sent wrong curry we ordered a prawn Korma and they sent a chicken korma, masala sauce just tasted like the korma sauce , I wouldn’t order from here again

Had nice meal there on Saturday night. Wasn't as busy as it is usually .table therefore easy to reserve

We have ordered from this place a few times, and each time we have ordered from them there has been an issue. They have given us the wrong orders, missed some of our orders, the food has been tastless and cold. The drivers also refuse to get out of the car and give you your food - we have to go out searching for them! Lazy people!

Was in the area for a weekend away for my birthday. Ordered from here as it was the only option on Just Eat. One of the worst currys ive ever had. Dripping in oil in every dish. If you want to leave a comment in the just eat box then don't bother because they won't read it. Asked for just potatoes in my vindaloo and a plain curry sauce. They proceeded to bring vegetable currys. That were drenched in oil and only contained onions and sweetcorn. Also asked them to ring me when they had arrived, they never did and ended up messing up the order with another house. Egg rice was just rice with big lumps of raw eggs in it. Only positive was that i didn't end up with food poisoning afterwards. Avoid like the plague!!!!

Absolutely disgusting, wasted money. Did a chef accidentally drop pack of sugar into my dish? Because my butter chicken tasted like custard, with onions and chicken floating in it. For the first - and hopefully the last - time in my life, I've seen shredded coconut in Saag Paneer. It all ended up in trash, impossible to eat because of the nasty, sickening sweetness.

Pretty nice food overall. I had Lebu Goast, which was supposed to have chilli in it but most definitely didn't. Shame, as it badly needed some heat. I'd probably order from Khan's again, but it doesn't stand out from other local takeaways.

Must be joking??!!! I got the smallest kebab I've ever seen. Not even enough for a child. 2-3 bites and it was gone!!. Complete rip off considering the price - for the same money at other places in E Grinstead they give you a good decent sized kebab, more than enough!! DON'T ORDER FROM HERE EVER AGAIN

Food was over an hour late and after phoning the first time was told that it was on its way, half an hour later I phoned again and was told the same thing, no apology and the food wasn’t as good as when we’ve ordered before won’t be using again.

The portions are small and tasteless. We order the first time and it was over an hour late so i rang and complained. The manager gave us free food if we would order again which we did. this time it was an hour and a half and arrived because we had chased over the phone. Surely having complained once they would not risk upsetting us again. The food is tasteless. The portions are so small for the price. My start had 1 king prawn in it and my curry had 3 pieces. My daughter had the salmon start and there were 4 small pieces. A waste of money and I will never go back there.
